So I’m going to attempt a fed based on my WWWF 1977 bootleg set. I won’t be playing often, but will post results when I do get some time to roll the dice. Here’s the grand plan:
1. There will be four shows per month. The final show in each month will be an actual card that the WWWF ran at a bigger venue during that month in 1977. January will feature the Boston Garden show. 2. I may have to alter some of the big shows if there are “unexpected” results, title changes or injuries. Not sure how I’ll handle that right now, just going to wing it and see what happens.
3. I’ll be rolling once for DQ and countout as there were a lot of those results back in 1977, even in undercard bouts.
4. There won’t be a lot of undercard storylines and angles, and the matches in the first three cards of each month won’t necessarily build to the big show at month-end. No reason for that other than it really wasn’t done. The weekly TV would promote any particular angles, and localized interviews in each market would push the upcoming matches for that city. I’ll try to work some of that in as I go.
5. I may bring a few guys in at slightly different times (for example, I’m using Jose Estrada all year when he wasn’t a regular until around July) but it won’t happen with any of the big names.
6. I’ll be using the LOW Mister X card to represent the 16 different low-level preliminary wrestlers noted in my handbook, so there isn’t an actual game card for guys like Silvano Sousa and Rocky Tomayo.
The roster at the beginning of 1977 will look like this:
Fan Favorites: Bruno Sammartino, Chief Jay Strongbow, Billy White Wolf, Ivan Putski, Gorilla Monsoon, Bob Backlund, Larry Zbyszko, Tony Garea, Domenic DeNucci, Carlos Rocha, Jose Gonzalez, Johnny Rivera, S.D. Jones, Manuel Soto and Pete Sanchez.
Rulebreakers: Nikolai Volkoff, Baron Von Raschke, Ken Patera, Stan Stasiak, Tor Kamata, the masked Executioners, Baron Mikel Scicluna, Gashouse Doug Gilbert, Irish Davey O’Hannon, Johnny Rodz and Jose Estrada.
Special Attractions: Andre the Giant, Mil Mascaras and Bobo Brazil may make a guest appearance here and there.
OFFICIAL RANKINGS
WWWF Champion: BRUNO SAMMARTINO 1. Nikolai Volkoff 2. Baron Von Raschke 3. Ivan Putski 4. Tor Kamata 5. Chief Jay Strongbow 6. Ken Patera 7. Stan Stasiak 8. Gorilla Monsoon 9. Bob Backlund 10. Executioner #1

CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING - January 8th (NOTE: these are the actual TV taping results, not matches that were played; using the show to promo my first card)
1. Tor Kamata & Nikolai Volkoff b SD Jones & Johnny Rivera
2. Carlos Rocha b Frank Rodriguez VOICEOVER DURING THE MATCH: "Tomorrow night the World Wide Wrestling Federation returns to Witschi’s Sports Arena with a spectacular card of wrestling action. Tony Garea will square off against the world’s strongest human being Ken Patera. Russian powerhouse Nikolai Volkoff will face two men in a special Handicap Match. One half of the tag-team champions, Billy White Wolf, will take on masked Executioner #1 and your main event will see Gorilla Monsoon against the sadistic Tor Kamata."
3. Baron Mikel Scicluna b Jose Estrada
INTERVIEW: Vince McMahon introduces Gorilla Monsoon and asks about his opponent Tor Kamata. Monsoon says that Kamata is a coward that resorts to using an illegal thrust into the throat to finish off many of his opponents. He says the big man from Japan won’t be able to push him around and that the fans are going to see them go toe-to-toe tomorrow night. McMahon then brings out Kamata, along with managerr Classy Fred Blassie. Vince asks Blassie to address the comments from Mr. Monsoon. The Hollywood Fashion Plate takes great offense to the remarks and begins waving his cane and shouting his man Kamata is a master of all the martial arts and would never do anything illegal. He calls Gorilla Monsoon an assortment of names and says anyone in North Attleboro who cheers for him is nothing but a pencil necked geek.
4. Baron Von Raschke b Steve King
5. Ken Patera b Pete Austin
INTERVIEW: Vince McMahon introduces Captain Louis Albano and Nikolai Volkoff, noting that Volkoff will face not one, but two men in a special Handicap Match tomorrow night. Albano goes on a spastic rant saying that Nikolai Volkoff could beat ten men at once, but is stuck wrestling in places like North Attleboro because Bruno Sanmartino (sic) refuses to face him. McMahon says he highly doubts that assertion and claims the WWWF Champion has been defending the title on a nightly basis against all deserving opponents. Albano goes berserk, asking if McMahon is saying that Volkoff doesn’t deserve a title shot. McMahon backpedals and it goes downhill from there until both Albano and Volkoff storm away.
6. Bob Backlund b Silvano Sousa

Love it! This is akin to buying the 2014 Strat-O-Matic baseball set and doing a season replay. Doing a replay for a specific year of wrestling is just a really cool idea Tim. I'll be following along. Oh, if only The Ushers could make a special tag-team appearance!

WWWF 1977 Card #001 – Witschi’s Sports Arena, North Attleboro, MA
1. Portuguese champion Carlos Rocha had an easy time putting away big JoJo Andrews with a running leg drop. DUD
2. In a special Handicap Match, Russian powerhouse Nikolai Volkoff defeated Johnny Rivera and Steve King by pinning King with the Backbreaker Drop. *1/2
3. Young up and comer Bob Backlund made quick work of Irish Davey O’Hannon, winning with his signature Atomic Kneedrop. DUD
4. Former two-time tag champ Tony Garea put up a great fight, but wound up on the losing end in his battle against the world’s strongest human being Ken Patera. The former Olympic weightlifter got the victory with an avehandle from the top rope. ***
5. Former WWWF Champion Stan Stasiak and Gashouse Doug Gilbert defeated popular Domenic DeNucci and Manny Soto. There was some back and forth action, but Stasiak pinned Soto after a hard bodyslam. **
6. WWWF Tag-Team Champion Billy White Wolf used a sit down splash to get a big win over the masked Executioner #1. ***
7. In a heated main event between two big men, Japan’s Tor Kamata got a pinfall victory over Gorilla Monsoon. Leading up to the match Monsoon had complained about Kamata using an illegal throat thrust, which was the move that Kamata used to get the victory. He also had a foot on the turnbuckle pad to get some additional leverage on the pin, which the referee didn’t notice. *
