Been playing COTG since 1988 when I saw the ad in PWI. was hooked the moment I opened the envelope. over the decades I enjoyed Mark Ashby's Club Galactic, Eric K's Next Generation and the GWF Promoter. like many I created some of my own wrestlers and feds. Barfly Mike, Iron Dog, Noble Kale, the Slackers, the Ragnarockers, Kim, Carmilla became some of my favs. made friends and created great memories. some of my guys made it into friends sets even. Then like a snap real life came in and it fell to the side. Eric K (EEK), Eric M (EM) Kevin W (cameraman ZOOM) Keith (Dude NAWC still rocks) Quentin (dude the late night talks drove Miss Mi up the wall) and so many others we had some great talks about wrestling and everything else inbetween
was cleaning out stuff and came across my lock box with the cards and nostalgia kicked in and I picked up my dice for the first time in years. before I knew it a match was taking place and excitement filled the air. my goddaughter sat on my lap and I introduced her to old friends Wolf, Thantos and Star Warrior and she was enthralled by the stories I told her of their classic fights. I was bitten by my addiction once more. I cleaned out the cabinet that held all my old match results and title histories and decided then and there to restart. I re-ordered the first three sets as the cards were old and yellowed with age. (Hey I took them everywhere and drag others into it.) so now Friday nights, the lights on, a new card table with a CD filled with burned songs and notebooks bought and waiting this old Dog is returning to action. Things will be different and yet new. already there have been major differences.... Omega holding the GWF title for 11 game years before Thantos and the Evil Ones injured him. working Classics into the pre-history has given me new memories instead of just GWFF from Kronos. will the nGo invade this time? hard to day but it will be interesting to find out. as I play 2087 restart, I am stealing a line from a 90's cartoon... I LIVE AGAIN!

Welcome back. I also used to stare longingly at those ads in PWI as a child, but I was 19 years old before I ever bought the first game edition. Those old black and white cards with Chuck Carter's artwork never fails to bring back good feelings, just like stories such as these. Thanks for sharing.

I, too, used to look at those ads in the magazines and fantasize about getting to play... then something like ten years later... one night I was hanging out with some friends watching some old ECW tapes that one of them had gotten off of RF Video and I casually brought up the game.
The guy who brought the tape said "Dude. I have all that stuff."
So I commanded him to bring it all over the next time we hung out, and history was made.
We'd play all night (sometimes into the next morning) and eventually made up so many of our own guys that we made up our own federations to hold them all.
It was a few more years before I got around to buying all my own copies of the sets (once I started getting some regular influxes of cash from being medically retired from the military) but I've been into it all ever since.
Of course, in the last decade or so I've been more into Legends than CoTG, but, still.
It's been almost 20 years since that fateful night when my friend brought his stuff over.
Though we now live on different coasts, we'll still reminisce and b.s. about the old days playing the game.
20 years.
I feel old, now.

Just happened to see this, but thought this was a fun story. I'll work twice a month for a local bingo that our son's school sponsors with thd proceeds going to their school.
I was wearing a vintage 60s Batman shirt and a guy came up and said he liked my shirt. We talked a little throughout the night and wrestling came up. I told him I'll still casually watch, but if it wasnt for this wrestling game I play, I'm not sure I'd still watch wrestling. He said, "Is it Filsinger Games?" I said, "well, it actually is"
He said he's been playing since 89 (same as me), so I gave him a bunch of the Legends bootlegs I created. Kinda ironic meeting a guy at bingo that plays
