NWA: Intensity
Cleveland, Ohio
July 14, 2015
In-Ring Promo: DJ HydeNWA: Intensity chief DJ Hyde came out to the ring to address some rules changes in his promotion. He acknowledged that last week’s show was a huge success, but it was marred by a cheap count-out decision in the Matt Cross-Jon Davis match. To remedy that, he announced that, going forward, matches in
NWA: Intensity would be fought under no-count out, no-disqualification rules, drawing a huge ovation from the crowd.
Philly’s Most Wanted vs. AC/DCJoker made his triumphant return to wrestling in this match, taking the fight to Arik Cannon and quickly wearing him down. A series of fast tags by the Most Wanted kept Cannon on the defensive, until he ducked a clothesline by Joker and made a hot tag to Darin Corbin. Corbin fought off both Joker and Sabian, ultimately hitting a snap neckbreaker on Joker for a two count. Corbin poured on the offense while his partner recovered, until Cannon was ready to be tagged back in. One BURNING HAMMER later, it was all over for Philly’s Most Wanted.
WINNERS: AC/DC via pinfall (12:54)
BJ Whitmer vs. Gregory IronThe first few minutes of this match were all Whitmer, as he tossed the smaller Iron around the ring, planting him with a power bomb, a superplex, and a WRIST CLUTCH EXPLODER that only earned him a two-count. Taking advantage of the new, relaxed rules, Whitmer tossed Iron out of the ring and power bombed him onto the ringside barricade, causing serious agony. Iron managed to rally back and hit his HANDICAPPED PARKING, but Whitmer managed to reach the ropes, preventing a pinfall. Iron tried to follow up with a dropkick, but the stronger Whitmer swatted him out of the air. Another WRIST CLUTCH EXPLODER spelled the end for Iron.
WINNER: BJ Whitmer via pinfall (8:23)
Post-Match DramaAs referee Shane Sewellwas about to raise Whitmer’s hand in victory, Veda Scott ran out from the back, holding a stack of papers.
SCOTT: “Hold it! Hold it! Hold it! Don’t you raise his hand!”
She quickly made her way to the ring, thrusting the papers at the referee.
SCOTT: “I’ve just come back from the U.S. North District Court, and I have an injunction preventing you from calling this match for Whitmer! As you can see from those documents, my client, Gregory Iron, deserves a “reasonable accommodation” for his condition, and that means that he must be pinned for a
four count to lose a match!”
Sewell examined the documents, confirmed that they were legit, and ordered the match restarted.
BJ Whitmer vs. Gregory Iron (with Veda Scott)—continued)Whitmer attacked immediately, taking Iron down with a double ax-handle from behind that sent him crashing into the referee, knocking Sewell out. Whitmer unloaded with WRIST CLUTCH EXPLODER after WRIST CLUTCH EXPLODER, but there was no referee to make the count. When it became apparent that Sewell wasn’t going to recover,
Drake Younger raced out, wearing the black and white stripes of an referee! He slid into the ring and took over officiating duties for the match. Whitmer went for a flying knee drop, but Iron rolled out of the way and hit another HANDICAPPED PARKING that earned him a two-count. The two competitors began trading punches, with Whitmer taking the advantage. He hit one more WRIST CLUTCH EXPLODER, and despite an attempted distraction from Veda Scott, Younger counted Iron down for a count of four.
WINNER: BJ Whitmer (again) via pinfall (16:07)
The Nation of Intoxication vs. The Beaver BoysLucky 13 and Devon Moore started out the match by isolating Alex Reynolds in their corner and working him over with quick tags and double team moves. They beat Reynolds down for nearly ten minutes, and only his inherent toughness kept him in the match despite several pinfall attempts by the N.O.I. Despite absorbing a beating, Reynolds pulled off an incredible move when Lucky 13 flew off the top rope, right into FROM REYNOLDS WITH LOVE that nearly ended the match. With Lucky 13 stunned, Reynolds was finally able to tag his partner, who came into the match like a house afire. Silver fought off interference from Moore before coming off the ropes with a double knee strike that knocked Lucky 13 out, leaving him easy prey for the three-count.
WINNERS: The Beaver Boys via pinfall (12:01)
Papadon (with Cherry Bomb) vs. Greg ExcellentDespite some early posing and trash talk by Papadon, this was nothing more than a squash match, with Excellent tossing his opponent around the ring and finally pinning him with a TIGER DRIVER through a table.
WINNER: Greg Excellent via pinfall (5:14)
NWA World Television Championship Match: Adam Cole (with Mia Yim) vs. Eddie KingstonThe champion got off to a rocky start by walking right into a BACKFIST TO THE FUTURE that almost ended the match in the first ten seconds. Cole was able to kick out, but Kingston poured on the offense, hitting his SLIDING D two times, each for a two-count. Before unloading with one more BACKFIST TO THE FUTURE. Mia Yim tried to distract referee Drake Younger, but he ignored her and made the three-count.
