Hello everyone.
Having been inspired by Tim Dalton's magnificent 1977 WWWF set, my first thought was, "What other promotions can we do this with?" My personal preference? Mid-'80s NWA, which in hindsight is some of my favorite wrestling ever. The passing of Dusty Rhodes sent me into overdrive, so I present to you the year of 1985 in Jim Crockett, in Legends form.
Why 1985? Because like 1977 WWWF it was a major transition year: we pick up in April, when Crockett takes over the remains of the Georgia territory and makes its debut in the familiar 6:05 timeslot on TBS, thus gaining a national presence. You'll get:
- 49 wrestler cards! Guys from the top of the main events to guys opening the undercard. Many of these were initially made available in the old LOWbootlegs group, and the crew of Tim, the Olsons, and Stu have generously allowed for their use here. Those wrestlers are filled out with other JCP mainstays of '85 from the Barbarian, Buddy Landell, Manny Fernandez, down to the Italian Stallion and Thunderfoot. Combined with the various cards already available in LOW and you'll have pretty much the entire April-December JCP roster. The Legends crew have also given these cards the once-over and they should fit in nicely with any Legends fed you care to run.
- An extensive booklet, shamelessly ripped off in format from Tim's 1977 set, covering the year in detail with all the major happenings and a status report of every wrestler. And in a promotion like Crockett, with way more turnover and happenings than the '70s WWWF, that's quite a lot! Each wrestler comes with a list of Allies and Feuds as you'd find in a COTG edition handbook.
- Rules for additional JCP special matches: Dusty Rhodes' signature Texas Bullrope Match, a Barbed Wire Match, and of course the most notable match of the year, the I Quit Cage Match.
- I didn't commission artwork, but each card comes with a black-and-white picture and is ready to print, front-to-back.
So there it is. From there 1986 will follow and I hope to do justice for the entire Crockett-on-TBS era. Warts, bad business practices, and all, it was one of the most exciting times for one of the overall most exciting companies in wrestling history.

Edit: The first version of this pdf had a stray image of Rocky Kernodle in the middle of Sam Houston's card. That's been fixed and the link replaced.
