Thanks for the comments Pariah. I agree that the combo of Mack & Terex could be interesting and make a good run in a tag team division. Round two of the title tournament will be a four way and so will round three but the competitors will need to win matches to qualify for the four way battle. The last spot in the title match will be awarded to the winner of a battle royal. Should be an interesting ride and Cage will have plenty of opportunity to earn one of spots in the title match.
Card 05 – PWA Wrestle Craze – Alpine Club, Kitchener, ON
C & C Wrestle Factory (Caprice Coleman & Cedrick Alexander) v. Young Bucks (Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson)
Nick Jackson opens the match with Caprice Coleman with a whip into the corner followed a wicked looking clothesline. MORE BANG FOR YOUR BUCK follows and this one is over in two moves. The fans are not pleased and give great heat to the Bucks during their post-match celebration. dud
Pure Wrestling Title Tournament Block A Match – Jay Lethal v. Jay Briscoe
The Tournament Action rolls out early this evening. What a match. Briscoe looks impressive from the outset with a mix of brawling and high impact moves leading up to a JAY DRILLER that only gets a two and half. Lethal then mounts an incredible comeback including Hail to the King for a near fall and LETHAL INJECTION but Briscoe is able to get the shoulder up. Both men are spent as the action went back and forth. Lethal found himself in deep when the action went to the floor but he managed counter a deathjump cross body with a dropkick that looks nuts. Lethal went back to basics with a figure four leglock. It was affective and Lethal would go back to the hold several times until he picked up the submission victory giving him two huge points in the tournament and eliminating Jay Briscoe from the title picture at the same time. ***
Pure Wrestling Title Tournament Block B Match – Roderick Strong w/Truth Martini v. Mark Briscoe
Each point is proving to be crucial in the B block and there was a nervous energy in the ring at the outset of this match. Briscoe was able to brawl his way into control of the action but Strong managed to get he best of an exchange on the floor and went to work including four consecutive Death By Rodericks that had the fans reeling. Briscoe survived a STRONG HOLD and mounted a comeback mainly through brawling at ringside. Briscoe sent Strong into the ringside table spilling its contents all over the floor. The upended table would come into play during the finish as Strong would set up the table at ringside and slingshot Briscoe into it snapping the wood and half and earning a monster chant from the fans. However, the referee was not as impressed and called for the disqualification. Briscoe had two points and Strong may have cost himself a shot at the finals. **
“Die Hard” Eddie Edwards v. “Unbreakable” Michael Elgin w/Truth Martini
Ringside remains electric for the introductions of the next match. Edwards knew that he had to avoid Elgin’s power to stand any chance in this one and he was anything but successful early on as Elgin tossed him around the ring including a ring shaking Deadlift Powerbomb. Elgin landed a SPINNING SIT OUT POWERBOMB for a two and half count before Edwards caught a break and managed to counter a deathjump with a toss to the mat. Edwards went on an offensive run that including superkicks that nearly took Elgin’s head off and a series of Achilles Locks. Edwards hit the DIE HARD but could not get the three count. Elgin stopped Edwards cold with a Deadlift Powerbomb and that was the beginning of the end for Edwards. The second SPINNING SIT OUT POWERBOMB of the contest was enough to give Elgin the hard fought win. ** ½
Pink Ladies (Madison Eagles & Jessie McKay) v. Sara Del Rey & Kellie Skater
It seems the ladies always come into action in PWA with something to prove and tonight is no different. The Ladies cut off Skater early on and work over their fellow Australian. Del Rey gets the tag and the momentum turns but the referee gets caught up in the action and goes down (three moves). Twice Del Rey hits a ROYAL BUTTERFLY on Eagles but the referee is still down. The official recovers and the action continues. Eagles is able to slam Del Rey off the top corner and momentum again turns. It goes back and forth. Skater looks great with a seated abdominal stretch on McKay. McKay and Staker go to the floor and McKay rams a chair into Skater’s midsection causing the referee to call for the disqualification. The ladies leave ringside to great heat. **
Pure Violence Match – “No Fear” Mike Mondo v. Tomasso Ciampa
What a hard hitting contest from start to finish. It was back and forth early on until Ciampa killed Mondo with a clothesline out of the corner and then connected with PROJECT CIAMPA for a very near fall. The fans got behind Mondo and he responded ducking out of running knee at ringside sending Ciampa crashing into the ring rails. Back inside, Mondo takes full advantage getting near falls from a jumping big boot and a Mondo Facebuster. They go back to the floor and Mondo Irish whips Ciampa into the rails. Back in the ring, Mondo catches Ciampa with a second jumping big boot and it is enough for the win. Some fans may have been looking for more plunder but an emotionally charged win for Mondo in any event. **
Pure Wrestling Title Tournament Block B Match – “American Wolf” Davey Richards v. Shelton Benjamin
The fans settled in for a potential classic and they did not go home disappointed. The counters were flawless and this was a non-stop flight to action town. Richards struggled early with Benjamin’s diverse offense and nearly fell to a PAYDIRT. Richards was able to comes back and work his way to an ANKLE LOCK but Benjamin made the ropes. The action continued back and forth with each man having long stretches in control can coming close to victory but coming up just short. Benjamin hit two more PAYDIRTS but could not get the three. Twice in the last few minutes of the match both men go for clotheslines and crash to the mat. The first time Benjamin crushes Richards with a springboard clothesline and the fans thought it was over but the American Wolf gets a foot on the ropes. The second time they collide they appear to crack heads and Benjamin gets the worst of it and is busted open. Richards takes full advantage with a series of Alarm Clocks and then the ANKLE LOCK. Benjamin does not have a counter and Richards moves into the lead in Block B. *****
Pure Wrestling Title Tournament Block A Match – Homicide v. “Wrestling’s Worst Nightmare” Kevin Steen
The only undefeated competitors in the A Block collided in the main event. There was nothing pretty about the absolute mugging that took place in this one. Steen was like a man possessed and tore through his opponent from the opening bell leading to a PACKAGE PILEDRIVER. Somehow Homicide lifted his shoulder and the fans exploded. Homicide was never in the match however as Steen punished him on the floor with a chair leaving Homicide a bloody mess. A powerbomb on the apron did more damage and then Steen bit Homicide getting a huge reaction from the fans. F-CINQ ended the violence. **
The fans were treated to near scientific perfection and extreme violence in the same night. Looking at the tournament action, Kevin Steen continues to run away with the A block and only Jay Lethal can stop him from winning the block and moving onto the final by winning balance of the matches and having Steen lose each of his matches. That is not likely going to happen so Steen should advance from the block. In the B block Davey Richards is on top with four points and then all the other competitors are deadlocked at two points each. Richards has a bye in the next round so he will soon have some company. That action will take place on Card 9 and the tournament matches will be Shelton Benjamin v. Mark Briscoe and Roderick Strong v. El Generico in the B block while in the A Block Homicide faces Jay Lethal and Jay Briscoe battles Rhino. Up next, Card 7 will feature all ladies as eight of the best female competitors will battle in an eight competitor tournament.
