Decided to try something new. This Filsinger Indy Federation action will based on the action you can find in Southern Ontario where close to a dozen federations present regular cards at various times throughout the year. Card one will be from the Pure Wrestling Federation. Hope everyone enjoys reading along my Ontario Wrestling Network action.

Card 01 – PWA Holliday Hangover – Alpine Club, Kitchener, ON

Tommaso Ciampa v. “No Fear” Mike Mondo
Despite what appeared to be a mismatch on paper, this was an intense opener. Mondo truly showed no fear and battled blow for blow with Ciampa for several minutes and nearly scored the upset after a lariat (ch). Ciampa battled back but PROJECT CIAMPA did not get the job done. Clearly frustrated, Ciampa took the match to the floor and cracked Mondo across the back with a chair. The referee quickly called for the disqualification giving the Mondo a huge win out of the gate. **

Future Shock (Adam Cole & Kyle O’Reilly) v. Young Bucks (Nick Jackson & Matt Jackson)
Some really polarizing competitors in this bout so the atmosphere at ringside was crazy. This one ended before it even got started. Jackson was able to avoid O’Reilly’s leg sweep attempt and hit a springboard X-Factor for the three count in just two moves! The fans are stunned. Cole is clearly less than thrilled with his partner after the match. (dud)

Rhett Titus v. “Unbreakable” Michael Elgin w/Truth Martini
The site of Martini leading Elgin to the ring brought out groans from ringside followed by intense heat. The story in this one was Elgin’s power which was on full display. Titus has his moments on offense but it was never enough to convince the fans that there was any real possibility of Elgin losing. The Canadian Crazyhorse just found a way to power out of trouble each time usually with devastating impact on Titus. The finish came when Elgin scored with back to back charging lariats and covered Titus for the pin. * ½

Leva Bates * v. Kellie Skater *
Although booked to be a buffer before the tournament matches, this one was an awesome back and forth bout that made those fans who decided to get up for a stretch regret their decision. Bates went on a tear early on leading to a PEPSI PLUNGE followed by a Sliced Bread #2 and a second PEPSI PLUNGE but she could not get the three count. The fans were hooked from this point as Skater made a huge comeback and got some serious heat on Bates. Twice she hit INTERNATIONAL INNCIDENT but could not get the win. Bates drew on the fans support and mounted a her own comeback leading to yet another PEPSI PLUNGE. The fans counted with the referee but Skater kicked out of the cover at the last second. Bates then hit a fourth PEPSI PLUNGE for the win. *** ½

Pure Wrestling Title Tournament Block A Match – “Wrestling’s Worst Nightmare” Kevin Steen v. Rhino w/Truth Martini
Business was about to pick up as two intense brawlers clashed in the first round of the round robin title tournament. Steen was an animal in this one and literally bit and clawed his way into control of the action and never let up his attack. Back to back F-CINQs could not get it done and soon they began to brawl on the floor. Steen was whipped into the ringside table spilling officials to the floor but he managed to recover including a crazing looking powerbomb onto the ring apron the had the fans rocking. Steen picked up several near falls and then ended it with a fisherman buster onto knee. *** ½

Pure Wrestling Title Tournament Block B Match – Shelton Benjamin v. Roderick Strong w/Truth Martini
Martini is a busy man tonight as he returns to ringside for back to back bouts. The expectations for this one are high as the action gets underway. It is even until Benjamin lands a series of clothesline that has Strong on the defensive. Both men exchange near falls before Benjamin crushes Strong with a running lariat out of the corner. At one point, both men crash together and fall to the mat after each goes for a clothesline. The action goes to the floor and Strong positions Benjamin for a backbreaker but instead spins and puts him through the ringside table! The fans are chanting as the bell sounds. The referee has disqualified Strong but he is the competitor who is able to leave ringside without assistance. **

Pure Wrestling Title Tournament Block A Match - Homicide v. Jay Briscoe
The fans were on fire as the competitors made their way to the ring chanting for both men. At the bell it is a flurry of blows. Homicide attempts a triple rolling vertical suplex spot but Briscoe counters and stops the crap out of Homicide. Whip to the corner and Briscoe follows him but Homicide kills him with a running lariat. DA GRINGO KILLER and it is over just like that. Crazy intensity despite being a short match. * ½

Pure Wrestling Title Tournament Block B Match – “American Wolf” Davey Richards v. El Generico
The crowd is electric for this one from the outset as they are singing for the masked luchador. Richards really looks impressive early on in this one with his strikes and counters. Richards punishes Generico hitting both the Alarm Clock and kicked to death before trapping Generico in an ANKLE LOCK but he cannot get the submission. They trade slams off the top of the buckles and the action picks up with Generico finally in control. Generico’s high flying offense leads to a two count after a SPIKE BRAINBUSTER. The action goes back and forth with the fans getting behind both men. Richards with another Alarm Clock. Generico comes back with a tornado DDT that looks great. Richards gets sent into the ropes and on the rebound catches Generico with an inside cradle. 1, 2, 3. Richards snatches victory from out of nowhere and picks up the first round points over a very game Generico. *** ½

Really fun opening card for Pure Wrestling Federation. The tournament standing are as follows after the first round. In Block A Kevin Steen and Homicide each have two points while Jay Briscoe, Rhino and Jay Lethal all have zero points. In the B Block, Davey Richards and Shelton Benjamin have two points while El Generico, Roderick Strong and Mark Briscoe have zero points. The PWA will be back in action on Card 3 for “Winter Slam” which will feature the following tournament matches: In Block A action Jay Briscoe takes on Kevin Steen and Jay Lethal makes his debut against Rhino. In Block B action, Mark Briscoe makes his first appearance against El Generico and Davey Richards faces Roderick Strong.

A nice start to your OWN fed, I am really liking the Pure Wrestling Title tournament and Richards vs. Generico was my favorite match. A solid card overall and it was really cool to see the Young Bucks with the quick win.

Thanks to everyone who checked out the action and a special thanks to cruefan68 for the comments. The Bucks win was a surprise as I expected a much closer contest.

This is the second federation that will be part of the Ontario Wrestling Network, Smash Wrestling.

Card 02 – Smash Inception – The E Zone, Toronto, ON

Icarus v. Delirious
Real solid speed in this one to get things going. It is back and forth from the outset and Delirious gets the advantage hitting Shadows Over Heck to set up a PRAYING MANTIS BOMB for a near fall. Icarus gets back into the match and gets the heat on Delirious for several minutes. A Shiranui lands perfectly and gets Icarus the three count. * ½

Biff Busick v. Caleb Konley w/Larry Davis
The story early on is Busick nailing hard looking uppercuts and clotheslines that have the fans rocking. Konley weathers the storm and mounts an impressive comeback including HOME WRECKER and an OH! FACE but Busick displays his toughness and does not give up. It is all Konley from about mid-way through the contest as Busick kicks out of several near falls and somehow survives a second OH! FACE. Busick is clearly spent and rolls to the floor. Konley hits a dive onto Busick at ringside and Busick cannot recover before the count-out. **

Team FIST (Johnny Gargano & Chuck Taylor) v. Brian Danielson & El Generico
Gargano & Taylor have incredible heat during the introductions as the fans are chanting for both Danielson and Generico. The fans had plenty to cheer about early on as Danielson and Generico looked unstoppable as they focused their attack on Taylor. Danielson applies CATTLE MUTILATION to a monster pop but the match does not end. FIST battles back and the match evens out. They get plenty of time. Gargano takes a BRAINBUSTAAAHHH!!! (4) but Taylor makes the save. Later Gargano plants Danielson with a HURTS DONUT for a near fall of his own. The match goes back and forth with both teams picking up near falls. The finish comes when Taylor catches Generico with Soul Food and follows with a OMEGA DRIVER for the three count to complete the comeback victory. Lots of chanting throughout this one and a solid ovation for all four men from ringside after the pinfall. *****

Madison Eagles v. Allison Danger
A hard spot to be in after the solid action in the previous contest. Danger is the early aggressor in this one and it pays big dividends as Eagles is never allowed to get anything going. Eagles kicks out after a pair of SHIMMERING WARLOCKS but Danger will not be denied tonight and an STO crushes Eagles to the mat for the three count. *

Bravado Brothers (Lancelot Bravado & Harlem Bravado) v. Inner City Machine Guns (Ricochet & Rich Swann)
The Machine Guns get the crowd fired up and then cut off Harlem Bravado for the entire match. Both Guns get near falls and then Ricochet hits CHOCOLATE RAIN to end the one sided bout. *

Eddie Kingston v. Jon Davis
The fans were braced for a hard hitting contest and that was exactly what they got. Davis and Kingston traded blows and had the fans on the edge of their seats from start to finish. Kingston landed back to back BACKFISTS TO THE FUTURE but could not get the three count. 3 SECONDS AROUND THE WORLD did not get the win on two attempts. There was plenty of brawling at ringside that the fans really enjoyed and it was this point that Davis started to take control leading up to a final 3 SECONDS AROUND THE WORLD for the three count. ***

Quacksaw (Mike Quackenbush & Jigsaw) v. Swiss Money Inc. (Claudio Castagnoli & Ares)
The fans are still buzzing from the previous action and the momentum carries over to start of this match. Castagnoli gets in some trouble early on and takes a sick looking JIG ‘N’ TONIC for a near fall from Jigsaw. Swiss Money Inc. gets their heat in on Jigsaw and Castagnoli crushes him with a RICOLA BOMB for a big near fall. Quackenbush takes over the match against Castagnoli with a series of Quackendrivers and a lengthy Chikara Special. Ares is able to relieve some of the pressure but after a series of tags Quackenbush is able to take the fight to the Swiss Superman again. Castagnoli takes a series of Quackendrivers and then gets locked in a Chikara Special. Jigsaw stops the save from Ares and Castagnoli blacks out giving Quacksaw a huge win. Monster effort from Castagnoli before he blacked out. *****

Premier Athlete Brand (Anthony Nese & Trent Barreta) w/Su Yung v. AR Fox & Uhaa Nation
The crowd appears to still have something left for the main event but they did not need all that much energy as this one finished shockingly quick. Barreta opens with Nation and catches him with a flying forearm smash for a three count. The fans are stunned and the night is over. Nese & Barreta could not be happier and draw fantastic heat after the bell. (dud)

Smash will be back in action on Card 6 for Any Given Sunday. Already signed for that night will be a rematch from tonight’s five star tag team action as Team FIST again squares off against Brian Danielson & El Generico. Plus, Big Rig Brodie Lee will be in action when he steps into the ring with powerhouse Uhaa Nation in what should be a hard hitting contest. In another rematch, Eddie Kingston will be looking for some payback when he again faces Jon Davis.

What an amazing victory for Team FIST! Gargano and Taylor showed great resiliency and I've gotta wonder... Is it possible that Danielson and El Generico underestimated their opponents? Chances are, it won't happen again...

Happy that ICMGs picked up the win, but would've liked to see more from the Bravados... Sometimes it seems that they are absolutely brilliant in the ring... While other times, Harlem and Lancelot fall completely flat...

As expected Quacksaw vs. Swiss Money Inc was a highlight of the show, as both teams have it all they had... On paper, the closing match should have been a blast... But, Fox and Nation were obviously off their game...

As always, the in-ring action is so well written that I feel like I'm sitting in the front row...

Plenty of great stuff lined up for the next card... Including the rematch between Davis and Kingston... Can't wait!

Pariah pretty much said it all. I really like the territory vibe you have going on with OWN. Quacksaw vs. Swiss Money, Inc. was awesome and what a performance by Castagnoli. I am looking forward to the next event.

Thank you for taking the time to post a comment Pariah and cruefan68. The FIST battle with Danielson & Generico was a nice surprise. I hope the rematch is just a good. I am also looking at some possible singles encounters involved the two sides at some point down the road (but the Gargano Chikara card is not the strongest for singles). Big bust in the main event. I will be curious to see how the Evolve and Chikara cards mesh in future Smash Events.

Castagnoli’s Chikara Card is a machine so you can count on him to be in the thick of things going forward.

Card 03 – PWA Winter Slam – Alpine Club, Kitchener, ON

Eddie Edwards v. Mike Bennett w/Maria & Brutal Bob
The two competitors from Boston were given a significant amount of time to showcase their skills and they made excellent use of it. The story in this one was Edwards throwing everything at Bennett with Bennett somehow both keeping his shoulders off the mat and avoiding any submission holds. After taking a lengthy beating, some timely distractions by both Maria and Bob outside allowed Bennett to get control during a brawl on the floor and suddenly we had a back and forth match. The exchanges were stiff and intense. Twice Edwards kicked out after a PHOTO FINISH with the fans biting hard on the second finisher from Bennett. Edwards was nearly counted out of the ring when Maria grabbed his leg as he was rolling back into the ring and the distraction was enough for Bennett to nail Edwards with a PHOTO FINISH. Edwards was able to kick out and the fans exploded but Bennett, thanks in part to the instructions of Bob on the floor “Again! Again!” landed a second PHOTO FINISH and scored the win. *** ½

Christina Von Eerie v. Saraya Knight
Knight does not look to be a best of moods and Von Eerie quickly finds herself in trouble. A series of pounding forearms downs Von Eerie and Knight tosses her to the floor. Outside, Knight looks like she may hit a young fan and then grabs the fans chair and cracks Von Eerie across the back. The referee has seen enough and makes the disqualification call. Great heat for Knight as she leaves ringside with the loser’s payout. dud

Tommaso Ciampa v. “No Fear” Mike Mondo
To surprise of few, Mondo’s performance on Card 1 made him a crowd favourite and the fans were hoping for more of the same intensity tonight. Ciampa on the other hand was looking from some payback and took control of the bout from the outside. Running knees in the corner spilled the bout to the floor. Outside, both men traded blows and this time around it was Mondo who grabbed a chair and cracked Ciampa with it. The bell sounded and we had back to back disqualification finishes. Both men brawled post match until officials arrived to break them apart. dud

Wrestling’s Greatest Tag Team (Shelton Benjamin & Charlie Haas) v. “Zombie Princess” Jimmy Jacobs & “King of Old School” Steve Corino
Corino and Jacobs were frustrated from the outset as everything they tried to get going was simple batted away by both Haas and Benjamin with little effort. Wrestling’s Greatest only have to tag once in the entire match before a double clothesline twists Jacobs inside bout and gets the three count. *
During the intermission it is announced that Tommaso Ciampa will face Mike Mondo in a Pure Violence Match as part of Card 5 Wrestle Craze.

Pure Wrestling Title Tournament Block B Match – El Generico v. Mark Briscoe
Briscoe was making his PWA debut and both men received a solid ovation from ringside. Briscoe struggled out of the gate as Generico used his quickness to get the advantage and never let up. A SPIKE BRAINBUSTER looked impressive but did to yield the three count. Twice Briscoe fought out of a BRAINBUSTAAAHHH!!! and Generico switched to a deathjump cross body block for a near fall. Briscoe was reeling and Generico landed a perfect looking moonsault (ch) for the victory. **

Pure Wrestling Title Tournament Block A Match – Rhino w/Truth Martini v. Jay Lethal
This one was off the charts. Lethal comes out on fire and dominates with his quickness. Back to back to back LETHAL INJECTIONS has the fans rocking and Rhino beat but the distraction of Martini is enough to keep the action going. These two fought in the ring and all around ringside. The spots were incredible. At one point, Lethal reversed a flapjack attempt into a DDT and the fans ate it up. Lethal goes through a table at ringside via a belly to belly suplex. Later, Lethal knocks Rhino from the apron through a table as well. The fans are chanting throughout. There were several near falls by both men. Lethal landed another LETHAL INJECTION late in the match but Martini pulled the referee out of the ring earning huge heat. The finish came when Lethal hit a Lethal Combination and then mounted the corner for a deathjump but Rhino rolled clear and Lethal crashed to the mat. With both men down, Lethal is the first to his feet but Rhino hits the GORE! for the win. *****

Pure Wrestling Title Tournament Block A Match – Kevin Steen v. Jay Briscoe
Everyone knew going into this one that there was a huge potential for things to get out of control quickly and that is exactly what transpired. Briscoe and Steen traded blows in the ring and Steen caught Briscoe with a lariat out of the corner. They went to the floor and Briscoe nailed Steen with a death valley driver off the ring apron through a table at ringside. The fans could not believe it as both men were dead on the floor. The referee called for the bell and awarded the match to Steen on a disqualification. *

Pure Wrestling Title Tournament Block B Match – “American Wolf” Davey Richards v. Roderick Strong w/Truth Martini
The fans were buzzing as officials worked quickly to clean up the debris at ringside. Strong and Richards know each other very well so things heat up quickly. Richards makes use of Alarm Clock kicks to back Strong up but Strong mounts a comeback after a brawl on the floor. A Gibson Driver leads to a crazy flurry from Strong that sees him connect with a two SICK KICKS, apply the STRONG HOLD twice and hit both End of Heartache and Death by Roderick. Somehow, Richards is still standing and refuses to go down after all of that. Strong keeps the pressure on however and soon traps Richards in yet another STRONG HOLD. Richards makes the ropes but Strong drags him back to the middle of the ring and applies the hold again for the monster victory. ****

Another crazy night of action. Things are tight in the B Block of the Pure Wrestling Title Tournament with Davey Richards, Shelton Benjamin, Rodrick Strong & El Generico all deadlocked at 2 points each while Mark Briscoe has 0 points having just competed in one match so far. In the A block, Kevin Steen sits on top with 4 points and next comes Homicide and Rhino with 2 points each. Jay Lethal and Jay Briscoe have 0 points. Up next, PWA presents Wrestle Craze at Card 5. In addition to the already announced Pure Violence Contest between Tomasso Ciampa and Mike Mondo, the following tournament matches have been announced. In Block A action, Kevin Steen takes on Homicide and Jay Lethal battles Jay Briscoe. In Block B bouts, Davey Richards faces Shelton Benjamin while Mark Briscoe steps in against Roderick Strong.

Some excellent bouts on the PWA card and Strong over Richards was off the charts as was Rhino over Lethal. I also liked the win by El Generico over Mark Briscoe. Wrestling's Greatest Tag Team looked great in their win which was a dominant win over a tough team. Eddie Edwards looked good in the opener but it is hard to beat Mike Bennett when both Maria and Brutal Bob get involved.

Smokin' win for Rhino... Him and Lethal went to war and The Man-Beast emerged triumphant... Also cool to see El Generico and Roddy Strong advancing in the tournament...

Can't believe that Jay Briscoe allowed himself to get disqualified... There is a man who could benefit from a little anger management...

Unfortunate that the women's match turned out so disappointing... Hopefully, things will pick up in that division... Some truly great female competitors out there...

Some really great action on this card... Surprisingly, one of my favorites was the match that opened the show... Bennett really bounced back to score a great victory over Edwards...

Superb show... Thoroughly entertaining!

Thank you for the feedback cruefan68 and Pariah. I am glad you enjoyed the action. Bennett and Edwards was a lot of fun to roll out. In retrospect Steen v. Briscoe likely should have had a higher ranking (for the table spot alone) but I was hoping for more out the match. Rhino and Lethal was just a blast to play and I think that came through in my write up.

Card 04 – Alpha 1 Stage 1 – Knights of Columbus Hall, Hamilton, ON

Manimal v. Cedric The Hitman w/Stu Stone
There was plenty of comedy from Manimal that kept the fans entertained in the opener but things became serious about halfway through this lengthy battle. Some crazy brawling on the floor and where Manimal made liberal use of his bone much to the delight of the fans at ringside. Hitman countered with his briefcase and picked up a near fall. Hitman was able to survive the T-REX ROLL and also hit his own finisher twice before this one was finished. We get a couple of whips into the ringside table as well but no broken wood. Back inside, Manimal comes off the top with a double hammer but Hitman counters with Silencer in a great looking spot for a near fall. This sets up HAIR TRIGGER and Hitman gets the win. *** ½

The Hobo v. James “Main Event” Morgan w/Stu Stone
Morgan is not liked by the fans at ringside and he really does not seem to care all that much. Morgan is all business from the outset and nails a running power bomb for a near fall before trapping Hobo in CLOSING TIME and this one is over quickly. (dud)

Pinky v. Johnny Yuma
The fans were behind Yuma from the outset but he struggled early on with his size disadvantage. Pinky connected with a big boot that looked great and then picked up a near fall after Ten Teardrops of Hate. Yuma drew on the fans support and battled back. Both men went for clothesline and crashed to the mat. Yuma recovered first and hit a Y-umalga for a near fall and then came off the top with a second Y-umalga for the three count. Fun contest and afterward Pinky was melting down screaming “he is a nobody, he is a nobody.” The fans were not sure what to make of it. * ½

Ryan Taylor v. Joey Ryan
Ryan really knows how to work the crowd and tonight he is bringing the sleaze times ten. They exchange counters and whips into the corners. Both men go for a clothesline and crash to the mat. Taylor catches Ryan in the corner with an elbow and then hits a roundhouse kick which sets up PERFECT CIRCLE for a near fall. Ryan is reeling and Taylor capitalizes with a perfect looking deathjump cross body block for the pinfall. * ½

The Tribe (Navajo Warrior & Hawaiian Lion) w/Olivia v. PPRay (“Pretty Peter Avalon & Ray Rosas)
The fans are solidly behind The Tribe you uses their size to get the upper hand early on. RESERVATION DEVASTATION does not get the win against Avalon and PPRay makes a good come back with their speed and some double teaming. However, the power and skill of the Tribe is too much tonight for the Fanny Pack Nation and Warrior gets the pin on Rosas after a Shot Machine. * ½

Mikey O’Shea v. vOodOo kAos
Hard hitting and intense from the opening bell the action went back and forth for several minutes until kAos connected with back to back neckbreakers which set up a GONZO DRIVER for the win. *

Terex & Willie Mack v. Los Banditos (Rico Dynamite & Tito Escondido) w/Mademoiselle Rachelle
Mack and Terex take several minutes to greet the fans as they make their way to ringside. The story early on in this one is the power of Mack and Terex as they push their opponent around much to the satisfaction of the fans. Dynamite saves Escondido from being pinned after a CHOCOLATE THUNDER BOMB. Los Banditos are never really able to get anything going with the exception of a crazy bump by Terex when Esconidio catches him on the top of the corner and knocks him off sending the big man from Boston crashing to the mat. The end came with Mack getting the best of Dynamite forcing the action to the floor after a sit out spinebuster. Dynamite grabs a chair and cracks Mack across the back for the disqualification finish. **

Alpha Male Title Tournament Semi Final Four Way Elimination: Adam Pearce v. Johnny Goodtime v. Scorpio Sky v. Shaun Ricker w/Percy Pringle III
It is chaos from the outset and Ricker sets himself apart first tossing Sky to the floor and then going after Goodtime with an Elevator Superplex for a near fall while Pearce worked over Sky at ringside. Ricker then hits the GRAVEY TRAIN for the quick elimination. The second fall is an epic back and forth battle with each competitor having their moments in control. Sky looks like he might take the pin with an ACE CRUSHER first on Pearce and later on Ricker but he cannot get the three count. Lots of action at ringside as well. No one really has a clear advantage. Sky ends up down on the floor and Ricker catches Pearce with a powerslam followed by D.T.B. to get his second straight elimination. It was power v. speed in the final fall and Ricker took the early advantage. Sky manages to hit Argle Bargle but cannot take advantage as Ricker is just too strong and finishes the match with a running lariat. Impressive performance by Ricker eliminating all three of his opponents and he cuts a wicked promo after the match declaring that he will be the first Alpha Male Champion. **½

Alpha 1 promising to take things to the “Next Level” on card 8 when they are back in action from Hamilton. The main event will be the second Alpha Male Title Tournament Semi Final Four Way Elimination Match featuring Willie Mack v. Terex v. Brian Cage v. Mikey O’Shea

Very cool name for the big prize... Alpha Male Championship...

Alot of low ratings on the matches in this card, but still plenty of fun... Pinky's meltdown was interesting... I wonder if he's referring to Yuma, another wrestler or himself in the third person?

Terex and The Mack are a great combo... Would like to see more of that pairing...

I'm expecting the tournament final to be Brian Cage vs. Shaun Ricker... A matchup like that will determine the Alpha Male indeed...
