Is there a name for people who are huge Star Wars fans like there is for Star Trek (Trekkies)? Whatever it is, I'm not one of them. I've never been a HUGE Star Wars fan but have enjoyed the movies (original 3) when I have watched them. I checked out The Force Awakens last night and liked it quite a bit but didn't feel totally blown away by much. Kylo Ren is probably the highlight of the movie for me, though. Great villain and great performance.
I don't think this is spoilery to say but, as a non-mega-Star Wars fan, I found certain things to feel more like an homage to the Star Wars movie than quite feeling like part of that universe/series. I won't expand on this here but might if a spoilerific thread opens up.

So my cousin sends me a message on Facebook, asking me "Know of any good movies out right now?"
So, after asking him he had brain damage he tells me that "Oh, yeah. We're going to see it tomorrow (Saturday) night... seeing as I bought the tickets before Thanksgiving."
So, in around 24 hours from now... I'll have seen it myself.
I've come a long way from seeing the first one in a drive-in while sitting on a lawn chair in the back of my dad's old El Camino... seeing every one during a theatrical run... I was worried that I wasn't going to be able to see it until January.

It's weird, I see a lot of people talking about how they can't find tickets for weeks and there were actually empty seats in the theater I was in.

I know that the theater where we see all of our movies sold out completely for the first couple days it'll show.
The tickets for the midnight premier sold out in two hours.

I guess it just depends how many theatres there are by you. We have a few big ones nearby me, so getting tickets isn't a problem. Just getting goiod seats could be. Going back again for the 2nd time tomorrow with my wife and kids. I am a huge Star Wars fan, so this played especially to me. Can't wait to see it again.

Not often a movie (or anything for that matter) exceeds my lofty expectations..."The Force Awakens" is the exception! Saw it last night & if not for last minute shopping, I'd go again today! Will almost definitely see it again in the theater! My love affair with Star Wars began in 1977 and has continued on ever since. Seen every original in the theater, all the Special Editions, the prequels & now this. Quite simply, this is why they build movie theaters!

I remember going to see the Phantom Menace opening day in 1999 and as soon as I saw the opening scroll, I knew it was going to suck...and I was right.
While the next two chapters were better, the experience with the Phantom Menance...it actually kinda soured me on the next two movies.
I'm going to see the Force Awakens today and am hoping what 99.9% of you says is true: it's a great flick because I'd be forever bummed out to have another Phantom Menace experience.

I was happy with it. It will be interesting to see where they go with the next episode. Will there be a big twist in the plot that no one sees coming? The Force Awakens gives us a pretty straight forward plot with no really big surprises, but one can't expect it as a building block for what's coming up. I gave it 4 stars!

I can assure you this movie does not suck. Yes, much like Phantom, it definitely sets the stage for what is sure to follow, but unlike Phantom, which was a necessary evil, this one's pure enjoyment and unfortunately, it's over before you know it, and that's a good thing. This one never drags like Episode 1. I would rank this as probably my 3rd favorite after Empire and A New Hope and slightly ahead of Revenge of the Sith purely based on nostalgia. 1.Empire 2.New Hope 3.Force Awakens 4.Revenge of the Sith 5.Return of the Jedi 6.Clones 7.Phantom Menace
