Being a fan, and knowing your fed like I do, you would take storylines involving the character and adapt them to your current roster - with a choose-your-own adventure flair that would be awe-inspiring. There are not many promoters that can do what you do week-in and week-out in your fed. One thing I would have to take into consideration before bringing in a new character, of course, would be how he sizes up with the others of that era statistically... Many thanks for the glowing words of praise... They always mean a lot... And I also must express my appreciation to every other player on this board... At some point or another, I've drawn inspiration from each and every one of you... Thank you! Take it from someone who has played current roster talent with early roster talent...Thantos from 2087 can go head to head with Monolith and win consistently. Of course, the win loss percentage is around 50%, but you never know who is going to win a match. You can look back through my early fed results to see proof of which I speak - talent is talent - it works from any time period.

But, did you find it also the case with guys in the middle of the card... Just wondering because sometimes Rahl ratings don't really tell the whole story... Appreciate the input, my friend... Thanks!

Considering that Nosfera, with a 37(37) Rahl Rating, is a 4 time Universal Champion, and a 13 time Intergalactic Champion, yes the mid-card talent is capable against anyone - and that is against top tier talent in my fed. The early mid-card would battle for my IWF Title, as my top two belts are reserved for upper-card talent. Take the original Messenger for example, 31(34) Rahl Rating, went 26-7 and held the IWF title AND closed the year with the Universal Title defeating the likes of Paganax, Overmaster, Avarice, Monolith, and Endgame in his first year in my fed as mid-card talent. The Messenger is a 4 time Universal Champion, and a 2 time IWF Champion. Even though he has received an upgrade, he is still only in the lower 40s Rahl Rating.
Further examples, Mr. Bloat, Tricks, Strong, Anivar, Y2K, Apollo, Ensor, and the Legacy are all examples of mid-card talent that have held my IWF Title. Morbid, Sly Drury (4 times), Symbiote (6 times), Strong, and Totalis are all mid-card talent that have held my Intergalactic Title.
Midcard talent is the same across the eras. People who believe that today's talent is so much stronger than early talent are simply wrong. Main event stars are the same no matter their time period - it all depends upon the roll of the dice. Hell, Monolith was 21-13 his first year for me. Endgame was 9-9 year one, and 6-6 year two, and didn't win a title for 3 years.
You have the online sets, run a 100 match sim with Killer Queen against Helsin or Tharkas against Executioner and see who wins. I would imagine that the numbers turn out to be relatively even.

I really think this is the only way to do comparisons... Rahl ratings are cool for getting a very vague overview, but there are so many things they don't take into account... For example... An -3(ag) move for Nosfera is something that is pretty much guaranteed to work every time, while a -3(pw) move for Tristan is pretty much the same as saying 'Your opponent takes over on Level 2 Offense'... Plus, things like advanced choice situations are completely variable dependent upon the opponent... Too many intangible factors... At some point, I am going to try running an extensive sample of early era characters versus post-New Beginnings... But, for now, I'm having too much fun with my actual feds... As it stands, it looks like the 'within 3 years' rule will be the first one that I try out... Still gonna keep the poll up for a bit yet to see what happens... Thanks to all who have voted thus far... Much appreciated!

I just adjusted my vote to within 3 years. Had my personal preference not been an option that's what I would've voted, and I think within three years will suit your fed perfectly.

I'm leaving this decision up to fate... Depending on how the second half of the season goes...
