Anyone that follows my COTG 'Code is Broken' fed knows that I do not follow the canon storylines as dictated by the included handbooks... HOWEVER, I do follow one strict rule... No wrestler can have his in-ring debut UNTIL the year that he actually appears in the canon storyline... Here is the reason for this poll...
Should I loosen up the strings on this rule? Yes, no, maybe so? A little bit or let it run wild?
Thank you to anyone who takes the time to vote... Much appreciated!

I went with "Within three years." that gives you some room to play around with things as you wish. So game years might be a little bit slower that what you had in mind so you add in one or two characters from a year in advance.

I stopped following canon with...well, if I'm being honest, with the very first set, when Beast Rider turned on Renegade and the two had a grueling series of matches in...but I digress.
The point is, the only rule I followed religiously was when someone debuted and when they left the fed. Sometimes, if I didn't like the character, I might have them retire early--hell, sometimes, I didn't use them at all (coughSectariancough). But I never debuted someone early, and never kept them past the time Tom retired them.
Of course, that's just my opinion. I could be wrong.

And although, I can see me keeping some guys past their canon 'leave' year (Raven immediately comes to mind), I think there is a lot of merit in how you handled how long a character remained in the fed... Thank you for sharing your thoughts... Very much appreciated!

This was a tough one. I think if you have a good enough reason or a compelling story you can debut someone whenever you want but what make your fed so good is the solid structure of guidelines you've created for yourself. You allow yourself to be creative without going to far and just going with any idea that pops into your head. I've gone with within one year to allow slightly more freedom while still sticking with your working formula.

Whenever you want is how I had to vote. You're telling the story, if there is a character that is several years out that would fit your story perfectly - bring them in, you're the promoter!

Being a fan, and knowing your fed like I do, you would take storylines involving the character and adapt them to your current roster - with a choose-your-own adventure flair that would be awe-inspiring. There are not many promoters that can do what you do week-in and week-out in your fed.

One thing I would have to take into consideration before bringing in a new character, of course, would be how he sizes up with the others of that era statistically... Many thanks for the glowing words of praise... They always mean a lot... And I also must express my appreciation to every other player on this board... At some point or another, I've drawn inspiration from each and every one of you... Thank you!

Went with one year, only because 'of your very valid point'. Wrestlers got progressively stronger as the years went on and if you go too far out guys that should be strong in 2090 would go to mid-card status 'right now'. Though I think it would be cool if you update existing charters whenever you want, ala Renegade into Cannibal for example. Just my two cents.

As far as character updates go, all bets are off... Early... Late... Skipped altogether... I'll use these in whatever manner I feel best suits the story... Thanks for bringing that up, @kevinb... And thanks for your input!
