Long story short. I went to Chikara's Columbus show yesterday. First time seeing them live. Funny story is I went to RoH in Dayton on Saturday night and came home and went to Chikara the next day. So two firsts in one weekend. I had a blast. I sat in the front row and just absolutely loved the experience. It really reminded me of why I feel in love with the company.
But when I watch the DVDs, I just don't connect with it. I like the characters, the humor is still there mostly. I don't even hate the angles or booking or anything. But there's just been something missing since they came back and I can't quite place my finger on it.

I think it's a strong face presence. Icarus just doesen't cut it like Quack and Kingston did.

Chikara is very much about the live experience and audience interaction, both during and before/after the show. I can enjoy watching a show on DVD, but don't go out of my way to watch unless its a major event, but love watching live no matter what the card. I think that may be more true after the shutdown, ask the storylines have not included the level of fan involvement they used to, and outside of King of Trios there aren't the guest stars that enhance the base product.

The face thing is a real concern. At the show it really felt like no one was on Hallowicked's level on the face side. I have some disconnect with Ashley Remington as well. Absolute love Dalton Castle but think he loses something with the Remington gimmick.

I think it's due to the fact that Dalton simply takes Ashley's idea to the next level.

This weekend was interesting. I went to RoH in Dayton Saturday night and then to Chikara Sunday afternoon. So I got to see him work both gimmicks pretty much back to back. He felt like a force of nature in RoH charisma wise and was still really charismatic in Chikara but not at the same level. He was like a 7/10 in Chikara and a 10/10 in RoH.
I might also watch more since the Roku app happened. $11.99 for a show and I can use that to watch it on TV. I'm down with that.

Plus if you do the monthly Chikaratopia subscription for $7.99 a month you get access to every chikara event through 2014, but not the current season.

I also wish I would have known the 8x10s were so cheap. I would've taken more money. I got the NES style Dasher shirt which is awesome.
