Okay, I want to try my hand at the GWF (after only being a LOW player) and its cool storylines and characters, but I need a good starting point and if posible, also some suggestions please for what you all feel are the most fun set or sets to start with. thoughts please?

IMO, the best places to start would either be 2087 or 2119... Originally, I opted for 2119 because I wanted to catch up to the current storylines faster... But, after awhile, I rebooted back to the original 2087 in order to obtain the rich history that so many other players have for their feds... Either way, you can't go wrong... Just depends on what you're shooting for overall.

I go with 2125 for now, you can always hit the older stuff later. You hit the color cards running. Plus you know all the sets will be available without PDFs.

Okay, thanks guys...If I start with 2125, do I need other sets or cards to follow the storylines? If so, which ones?

Not particularly, you may want to check a few things on the COTGWiki, but otherwise, you're in pretty good shape.

I too am about to succumb to COTG and am looking for the best starter set, so this is good advice. I find the shop a bit of a minefield when it comes to starter sets, so I will go and take a look!

All the options are under starter sets in the store menu. Depends where you want to start, but I kind of like New beginnings 2119.

Cheers. Will have a look into that. looking for one or two cards that could perhaps mix with a few legends.

However, as Tom always likes to say, its up to you promoter It's unlikely that this will happen in reality. I've been nosing around the COTG sets but I'm maybe thinking it's too bonkers for me. I think it'll be a case of sticking with 'real' wrestling for now!
