I was in the process of adding cards to my online play when a cool idea inspired by the NEW KRAZY KARD set, a scan Q thing on the print cards for ordering card online ala carte, say I by a set at live event to get signed, and get home wanting to play online instead of using A CAC card which I'd rather use for Swarms Mania set, I could scan the card pay a little bit and boom good to GO.
PS I did this With the Madison Rayne card

Have A barcode QRL that links the card to online store to get single cards. When I got Madisons card I came home and added it to my online set with the Create A Card feature, which I paid for. Sometimes you don't feel like paying full price when you only want a few cards. It's like a voucher saying you paid for the physical cards but you just want that one card online.

Now I get what you are saying. I don't see them selling cards outside of sets though, even if you have already purchased it in a physical set... but again, it's not up to me.
I'd love to see a discount for those who buy both physical and digital versions of cards. I stopped buying physical cards a while ago but I'd love to still get them if there was a discounted way to get both.
