I wonder if I'm the only one who gambled after getting hooked on 80's Mania Wrestling. I always thought it was weird how there were only 8-12 characters in a set, but I quickly learned that quality > quantity. I picked up the early COTG sets around Christmas time, and I've had a lot of fun. I hope to get into the modern GWF soon!

I have a fondness for the old Guestbook. I wish it was still online as I'm sure it'd be a fun read.

I too saw this through PWI in 86. I kept seeing the ads and as a kid I finally had to check it out! I wasn't disappointed and played that game every chance I got. I remember sitting at school and thinking of matches I was going to book and the stories I was going to tell. It became an obsession for awhile and things would slow down a bit but where there were more sets coming out I wanted more. I remember Wargames really making an impact on me. I really loved that story arc and the sets that worked up to it. Man! Great memories! Then I lost touch with the game for a few years since life and getting focused on college started to take over my headspace. Then while surfing the net I did a search to see if Filsinger was still making the game because I wanted to see if new sets were coming out. I checked and sure enough they were going strong and the Legends of Wrestling game had just come out and again I was hooked and so happy to see the game and company was still going. So I bought up the Legends game and then noticing I was missing quite a few sets I ordered up the uber pack to get caught up on what I missed and played through the game again. Now the game never leaves my sight and I always sit and get some cards in for all of my feds. So awesome. If I ever have to choose a new board game or Filsinger cards given my strict entertainment fund then Filsinger games always gets the final decision. This is my go to game when I can't get a group of players together and I want to do something wrestling/story related.

I'm in the PWI group as well. I started in 1988 with the first set , loved it , then bought the rest at one time and started a mass game of catch up . I love this game! Thanks to Tom , and every promoter that ever inspired me along the way from pre-Promoter magazine days , to printed , to online & beyond . Here's to 30 more years !!!

The Wolf arguments on the old guestbook were legendary.

I remember getting the Promoter Magazine back in the day and every time it came in the mail, I remember sitting down and reading it two or three times. It was like the official update from headquarters of what was going on in the GWF universe. I loved the artwork in it too!

My grandmother had kept my old wrestling mags from '89 and '90 at her house (Current year was 94-95 I believe). I stumbled upon an ad in one with Bishop Hell and one with Spike and really wanted the game. I sent away for more information with no hope of a response and got a huge envelope with Mace on the front. I was so excited to start I ordered the first 4 editions and never looked back.

It was early '93 for me. Right before War Games 2093 came out. Sorry that I didn't mention the year earlier. The year is a bit off there, as I started playing in 1991 right after War Games 2093 came out. I jumped into the ring and brwaled with all 7 sets and never looked back!

I got into the game in grade 9 at some point, during 91-92. My fellow promoter and friend Diamondone had several sets. We along with some fellow classmates used the Filsinger System to re-create the Monday Night Wars by making EVERYONE in ECW, WCW & WWE.
I first met Tom during a GalactiCAN that Mike Fortune hosted in Cambridge and I bought my first set then. 2111 if I remember correctly. I got out of the game for a few years and then got back into it and got caught up on all things Legends/Indy over the last couple of years.

PWI was where I first saw an add with Wolf wrestling with Star Warrior in the ring. It's funny, I was actually looking thru the mag for the Superstar Wrestling game, which advertised SWG could be bought at the Compleat Strategist hobby store on 33rd street in manhattan. Bought SWG and played that for years, thought it was good.
About 30 years later or so around 2006, went back to the Compleat Strategist and there right in front of the store was the original starter sets to Legends and Champions. Realized the cover of cotg was the same picture I saw in 86 and said, thats cool that game is still around.
Read the back of the Legends starter game, picked that one up and never looked back. Had a blast with the first set and vowed to just stay with those cards. That didn't last long. Lou Thesz was now in the game and that opwned the flood gates, full blown Filsingers game addict now :-)
This game system is simple, but incredible. Spot on to what a wrestling game really should be, as well as professional and most importantly ethical.
This game helped me through some tough times. Forever grateful to Tom and the crew for giving us another world to go to.
