To start I remember seeing a Star Warrior ad in PWI and I thought to myself, that looks like a fun game and only going by one piece of art, I ordered the game. I didn't start playing the game when the first edition was released, it was when 2088 was out. Over the many years, I can say this game has been a blast to play and it's currently at the highest level of fun to date... I remember becoming friends through PEP with jimsteel in the 90's to friends with the likes of cruefan68 and many others here on this board, which makes this game more than a game. Filsinger Games is part of LIFE and it is a bright spot for sure. TOM FILSINGER to me in the beginning (when I thought the game was ran by a corporation) shocked me with his return post cards (I still have them all) and that was much appreciated. Meeting him at a GCon and sitting next to him for dinner my first time out was pretty cool and these are just some of the great memories that were made via Filsinger Games... Thank You Mr.Tom Filsinger

You bring up some great memories CC. I remember seeing the Gladiator ad in PWI and it caught my eye. But the Bishop Hell vs. Galactic Punisher ad is what prompted me to buy all the sets up to 2092 when they first came out. Very fond memories indeed. And the rest is history.

I actually got into wrestling relatively late (I was 13 nearly 14) in 1988 and I soon was buying PWI, and saw an ad for COTG. Spike looked cool, so I ordered. I could probably with little effort write out 29 other memories including getting back into the game after being out of it for a few years (due to finances) to my first Galacticon to becoming a 4 time Galacticup champ, but regardless, still enjoying the game 27 years after I first started playing.

It was early '93 for me. Right before War Games 2093 came out. Sorry that I didn't mention the year earlier.

Its been around so long I don't remember when it wasn't in the mags. I got the game in college and never really fooled around with it till ten years later lol. Since then I have played nearly all of its incarnations:GWF, LOW and even aCe.

First off great topic idea Crimson. You have been a real friend to me over the last few years and I always enjoy reading your feds. Next I want to say a big thanks to Tom and the entire staff of FG for bringing us this great game from COTG all the way to legends. It doesn't get any better than that. Thirty years is an amazing run. This is, in fact, the only message board that I belong too and with good reason as we truly have the best community anywhere. I don't need to go anywhere else.
As for the topic, I ordered the first COTG set (the original 24!) only a few weeks before legends came out and once I sunk my teeth into legends (also the original 24!) I never looked back. I have been a legends guy since then but I also appreciate the many COTG feds on the boards and often read them. I am so busy with legends, ROH, CHIKARA, Evolve, SHIMMER, etc. that I haven't had time to collect COTG but I have used some of those original cards like Omega, Executioner and Massacre & Brute, along with color cards like Sly Drury and Paralyze, in my legends fed from time to time.
I hope one day to add more of the COTG stuff but I still need to collect legends cards (I still don't have CZW for example) so I am pretty busy and that's a good thing. With the new releases coming out like Freelance, Evolve 3, CAC 2 and one of my new favorites 8MW there is so much to look forward to. Let's just say I will always find time to roll those dice and continue to play this great game.

I also saw the COTG ads in PWI. I was intrigued by the game description, but never ordered because I couldn't get into the sci-fi/fantasy aspects. But when I heard Filsinger Games was putting out a set with real life, legendary wrestlers, I was on it in a flash. I ordered the original box and was hooked. At the time, I thought the set might be a one off. Little did I suspect that I would be ordering more LOW sets for the next dozen years and that my original collection of two dozen Legends would be joined by 200 more!

It was Spike the Babysitter ad in PWI that hooked me. I think I still may have the issue kicking around somewhere.

The way I got into COTG game is similar to Crimson Cross and others saw the ad for it in PWI magazine. I was twelve years old back in 1987 and was amped up on the artwork, so I had my mom order it for me. Then when I got my set in the mail, I played all the cards...I didn't even know at the time that more sets would be coming. So one day, I was looking in the back of PWI magazine and saw the ad with Spike on it. I remember falling in love with the art and I knew I had to get that new set to add to my favorite team of The Gladiators. Fast forward it by 30 years, over the years I have lost the games several times over moving and have rebought my COTG editions cause at the end of the day... I love this game. So, Thank You TOM !

Mark me down for a fan through PWI as well. Ordered the COTG set but couldn't really get into the sci-fi aspect of it but liked the game mechanics. I was thrilled when the LOW box set came out and despite putting it down for months (or years at a time) I always come back. The Legends Fever set really re-ignited my interest. There were a lot of favorite in that for sure.
