Took 40 years, but at long last, the mighty RAMONES are on the cover of Rolling Stone! Amazes and saddens me that nobody gave a crap when they were around but now in death, they are treated like royalty. Best part of the article was the statement that no band since the Beatles has been more inspirational. You're welcome Nirvana, Green Day, Blink 182 and just about every other "alternative" band out there!
GABBA GABBA HEY!

My all time favourite band. I played in a Ramones tribute band when I was at school that went on to release a record which contained a couple of Ramones covers. I have been playing in a a pretty successful band now for ten years and have been lucky enough to play with both Richie Ramone and Marky Ramone. Sadly I never met any of the other Ramones, but Monte Melnick, their long time manager and the late Tommy Ramone have also been in touch with us over the years.
I've retired from wearing a Ramones tee these days as they are everywhere, but I still listen to them a lot and have a near encyclopedic knowledge of their history and back catalogue. I'm a real completest.
Great to see they are on the cover of Rolling Stone- Johnny would have been proud!

The Ramones did get in the R&R Hall Of Fame at the first time of asking too, sadly a year after Joey died though. I always think they've been bigger over here than they probably were in the U.S and of course they had a huge fanbase in South America.
The band literally changed my life. I was playing a very popular signed grunge (urgh) band when I was 16 years old..playing drums. Then at the same time I started bunking off school and going around my mate's house to write goofy, Ramones inspired bubblegum songs. We all decided to change up our instruments and I was no longer interested in my original band. 'The RayMoans' started supporting my 'real' band, until they became the most important thing in my life. Sure, we were rubbish, but everybody in my area loved us!
Twenty years later, I am still playing Ramones inspired rock n roll!

Greatest rock and roll story of my life: 1995, the now defunct Academy in Manhattan, my friend steals a backstage pass right off some girls shirt to give to me so I can meet my heroes, the Ramones. As I am headed backstage up a flight of steps, Johnny Ramone is coming down the stairs. After gushing to him that they are the greatest band ever, I am soon comparing tats with CJ and grabbing a Coke out of Marky's cooler! Next stop, the man himself, my idol, Joey Ramone, who asks how I'm doing. Not the least bit embarrassed to tell you all I looked him straight in the face and told him I thought I was going to pass out. After assuring me that I shouldn't, he introduced me to his mom, who I promptly thanked for giving birth to Joey. Charlotte then begins to tell me what a hard time she had delivering Joey, who promptly reminded her that she probably had plenty of fun frolicking around before his birth! Such a great moment between mother and son, truly genuine. Cried like a baby the day he died and wore my black leather jacket proudly that day, despite sweating my balls off on a very humid Spring day. The Ramones changed my life too and I am forever grateful for every show I attended (12) and that they are STILL better than any band in the world in my book!

I actually wore my Ramones shirt to see The Killers (one of the very few alternative bands I like) open up T-Mobile Arena last week. Ramones are perhaps my all time favorite band,I really enjoyed getting to see the Ramones stuff on display at the Rock "N Roll Hall of Fame last Summer when I went to Cleveland for Galacticon.

Vegas, if you remember way back when, I think the first interaction we had on this board was when I replied to you (under an earlier alias) looking for a name for your upcoming Ramones inspired show in, if I remember correctly, Vegas Wrestling Guerilla, way back when Legends of the Future was all the rage in glorious black and white! Hard to imagine I have been involved with this game and community for so long now! Ramones are without a doubt my fave all-time band and I am definitely planning to visit the new exhibit at the Queens Museum this summer!

Wrestling Guerrilla (VWG) used to use some Ramones song titles such as To Tough to Die, Howling at the Moon, and of course Ape Man Hop for some of its show titles. I miss my old LOTF fed Vegas Wrestling Guerrilla. I plan to do a new LOW fed once the LOW color set releases begin. I wonder if Vegas Wrestling Guerrilla would work as a name for a LOW fed?
