DARK MATCHES - PROCYON SPORTS PAVILLION
(Couple of cards staged at the Procyon Sports Pavillion recently. The intention by the GWF was to blood some newbies away from the glare of the live cameras. One of them featured the shocking incident involving Blazing Skull as reported below. Matches continue but in a muted atmosphere afterwards)
#1 - Thantos defeated Overkill after using his power against him. It’s not Overkill’s greatest effort. Starting by chucking Thantos around but then getting caught out by missing a clothesline and getting rolled up. Overkill bursts out of the move but Thantos swiftly slaps on MASTERLOCK. He uses Overkill’s powerful legs to help keep his own in place. The more Overkill pushes the greater the pressure. It’s also causing Thantos a lot of pain but he holds on for a very notable win. Post match Overkill is almost regretful that the Gladiators and the Gamemasters will not be resuming their battle over the belts this month as the hero team slip out of the top contender spot. Aethran’s never back down from battle and always want to test themselves against the best. Abomination hardly have the sort of tag team pedigree to offer them a challenge; Demons of Hydra beat Genesis Prime. Many of the crowd are now over the shock of what happened earlier and excited to see Genesis Prime in action. Unfortunately it’s another loss for the newcomers. Wraith manages to give everyone what they wanted to see and confuse the Demons by using his invisibility at least once in the match but it’s not enough to get a positive result. He gets himself into some trouble against Hydra and fades to a sleeper hold; Dreggs makes short work of Gila. It’s batting practice for Dreggs as Gila offers no offense and gets finished with TWIST AND SHOUT. The only memorable thing Gila did was some kind of crawl and protruding tongue routine which he thought would strike fear into Dreggs but all it did was cause amusement; Justice pinned Zouave the Conqueror quickly. Big and imposing but incredibly clumsy is the best way to describe Zouave. He made a big point of the ring announcer calling him a Conqueror but in no way backed it up when the bell rang. Zouave got a couple of shots in and then went for a turnbuckle smash. Justice casually stepped aside and let Zouave crash clumsily into it and pinned him; The Zodiac beat Eagle and Meteor easily. Meteor stumbles and falls through the ropes after one of Mesmer’s Dark Side Daggers. Badly hurt he lays there and gets counted out. Eagle’s efforts to help him are cut off by Gemini; Blazing Skull-Milan Kunderon. Match abandoned after a dramatic fireball consumes the ring. The explosive sound seems to emanate from Blazing Skull’s head. Terrible injuries sustained to Milan Kunderon that results in him being rushed to hospital. Crowd is shocked at what they have just seen.
#2 - Powerhouse overcame Jack of Diamonds by DQ. Damp reception from the crowd. The fire incident on the last card was still playing on people’s minds and this card had been starved of any big names. Nonetheless Jack and Powerhouse did their best to put on a show. Jack often doesn’t get enough credit for his skills. He is excellent using the top rope. DIAMOND CUT and how quick he gets up there so quick to get the move off being a case example. Sadly when he tries it here it doesn’t do enough damage to put Powerhouse away and then Jack does something a little out of character which costs the match. He lets Cassandra get to him and gives her a shove as she trash talks him. Her subsequent pleading to the ref about how Jack manhandled her pays off; Sam’s Squadron beat Flamboyance. The Squadron still trying to clear some cobwebs but they were much better here. Sadly there were no MEGATOURNAMENT points on line but US. Patriot will be getting his confidence back as he finishes Vanity with ADAM’S ATOMIC BLAST. Bit of in match drama involved Maxine Babe. US. Patriot was thrown out the ring at one point at Maxine Babe’s feet. She decided to shove her breasts in his face. Not sure what she was trying to achieve but it certainly upset Ms. Liberty who has a front row seat in the crowd watching her husband perform. She flew over the security fence and grabbed the unsuspecting Maxine Babe by the hair hurling her to the ground. As Maxine Babe got up she then slapped her round the face. Maxine Babe ran off humiliated and crying; Ram beat Exo-King by DQ. Ram rode his luck a little bit. He had seen Exo-King miss a big chance with CORONATION CEREMONY and even missed his own RAM CHARGE twice. Despite the struggles he was still able to fight to a DQ victory; Titan Wrestling far too good for Zouave and Gila. Lord Nexus keeping his sharpness by continuing to wrestle despite his new coaching responsibilities. He will probably never let the wrestling bug go. Ursa Major has had some singles success but is always happy to go back to tag roots as he is able to partner Lord Nexus whom he still sees as an idol and the greatest teacher anyone could have. They both play their part in a polished performance with Ursa Major catching Zouave with SHOTGUN CRADLE; Painmaster defeated Eagle with THE TORTURE RACK. At least Eagle put up a decent fight. He was subjected to the torturous move three times in all. Painmaster looked dismayed and frustrated that he was struggling to draw a submission from Eagle; Monad overcame Meteor. It’s a mismatch but Monad takes no pity on Meteor. With Johnny Rocket calling the shots Monad does not finish things fast despite Meteor being well out of his depth. Monad keeps going for pins and then pulling Meteor up at the last moment. The crowd sees the prolonged beating as cruel and gets on Monad’s back. When Monad eventually decides to end the torture QUADRUPLE CLAMP is used with the hold being kept on for several seconds beyond Meteor’s actual submission.

Card 681 – Luna Auditorium:
New Order makes a massive impact in the MEGATOURNAMENT for the heroes by destroying the Pillars of Powers. Mace has got it won within just two moves as he shoots Powerhouse down with WAR Gun.
Thunder beats Star Warrior. Heat between Gladiators and Gamemasters last month make this a match of interest. Star Warrior has suffered some surprise singles losses lately and needs a confidence boost but Thunder looks really strong here. On top of Star Warrior from the get go and winning via THUNDERCLAP within just a couple of minutes. Don’t really remember Star Warrior laying a finger on him.
Thantos is fantastic in beating Monad. Tactically the old master is spot on. He knows if wants to win he needs to do it fast and not give Monad any offensive impetus. Thantos blocks out the distractions and noise coming from Johnny Rocket and goes straight to work. Using moves that don’t directly confront Monad and give it a chance to use those arms Thantos grabs a very creditable win. Gamemaster Grip is the move that brings Monad to it’s knees.
Bishop Hell pinned Eagle after FLYING CROSS. Bishop Hell is almost fully recovered and signed for this match as an easy return. Eagle looks a bit starstruck to be in the company of all these amazing wrestlers that he has watched on TV. Once the bell gets the match underway Eagle tries hard to impress. Zipping around like a spitfire and working hard but it’s soon clear he lacks the talent of his more famous cousin, Raven. Overall, Bishop Hell is pretty dominant but lacking the killer punch. It takes 5 pin attempts and even the usual deadliness of HELLFIRE fails on him. The Occult Overlord looks relieved when it’s over, banana skin avoided.
Quasar and Ursa Major team up to hand the Watchmen a surprise loss. Ursa Major is in electrifying form repeatedly trying SHOTGUN CRADLE on Tocsin until it is successful. The youngster normally gets lower billing than his more illustrious team mates but in recent months he has been the Titan’s biggest success story by some margin.
Ms. Liberty beat Maxine Babe in a no men allowed match. The stipulations put Maxine Babe at a disadvantage knowing she had no way of using her DUDE’S CHOICE finisher which is reliant on a distraction. Maybe she’d find a way of using it though but Ms. Liberty doesn’t give her the chance. She literally takes less than a minute to put Maxine Babe in her place after connecting Patriot Missile to get the pin. Maxine Babe well and truly punished for her provocative behaviour on US. Patriot.
Card 682 – Luna Auditorium:
Raven and Wolf beat Cannibal and Draconian Sheik by DQ. Short lived team that lasts just the two matches. Wolf started acting funny when he insisted they drop their team name after the first match. Then they couldn’t agree on who they should be signing matches against. Wolf wanted to go after the Watchmen or Gladiators whilst Raven fancies exacting revenge on the Mercenaries. They end up facing none of their targets. Finally, Wolf tells Raven he has no interest in continuing the partnership. The danger is Wolf could feel cooped up and turn on him. Tag team success is just not on his bucket list. Maybe it’s a blessing in disguise for Raven as it should push him back towards the singles category where he is much needed in the MEGATOURNAMENT points race. The match itself is decent enough. Wolf and Drac getting hardcore with each other with both SAVAGE FACE CLAW and DRACONIAN BACKBREAKER being used. The match ends with Raven against Drac. Inevitable loss of control and crazed antics from Drac leading to the bell. Raven not satisfied with the match or outcome, time to move on.
Cage match, Demons of Hydra defeated Wildcat and the Creeper. Wildcat proves he is a tough cookie and very nearly getting an upset win after nailing Demon with WILDCAT STRIKE. The Demons survive the scare and are able to take the win after Hydra Lunge on the Creeper. The Demons need to use this as a springboard. For so long on the cusp of being a great team but always just a step below reaching the higher echelons, switch or no switch.
Bishop Hell beat Colussus by DQ. Bishop Hell back to being fully recovered and showing that he has learned nothing from Pulsar’s attack, pre match preachings that “nothing will stop me from burning victims with HELLFIRE. My work is my hobby. If Pulsar isn’t careful he could get blinded in his other eye and then he will be in a whole world of strife. I almost wish he wasn’t suspended. I’ll just have to burn this cyborg freak instead”. Colussus is a friend of Pulsar’s (although they don’t talk too much anymore) and aims to help bring Bishop Hell down in this match. Everyone curious what he has in the bag being carried to the ring. Colussus dishes out the punishment but then gets on the wrong side of the officials. In his attempts to recreate his own version of HELLFIRE whilst brawling outside he reaches into his bag and ignites a lighter. Using a blow dryer device he attempts to divert the flame towards Bishop Hell unsuccessfully. A dangerous act that leaves GWF hierarchy unimpressed. Omega’s team gets fined for the actions. Omega is apologetic for the incident, “Colussus is a passionate guy. He just wanted to give Bishop Hell a little payback as feels strongly about what happened to Pulsar. I’ve spoken to him and he knows he went about it in the wrong way. I don’t think we’ll be seeing this kind of behaviour again”.
Alpha Force deals with Mutant. Another outing for Mutant. Again abundant with pent up energy. It flies at Alpha Force uncontrollably and gets a few wild shots in. Most men might be taken aback by such unpredictable and crazed attacks but Alpha Force is calmness personified. Just bides his time and then picks Mutant off with TOMAHAWK THRUST. Poor Mutant is scooped up and then led away whimpering on a hologramatic leash. Some crowd members are worried about Mutant’s quality of life having seen it forcefully bundled into the back of a tiny cruiser after the show.
Quasar overcomes Pharaoh Khety by DQ after the unwelcome distraction of the Overlord. Quasar treads carefully having witnessed recent victories and even a shot at the IP belt from Khety. Indeed it’s a rocky start and Quasar finds himself a victim of CURSE OF KHETY but doesn’t fall under it’s spell and escapes the pin attempt. Serves as a wake up call and Quasar starts to lift his game. Even so, it’s a surprise to see Khety get hit with a Gravity Ball Tackle and HIGH ROLLER and still be alive in the match. Quasar keeps the Titan spirit and keeps working hard. When he unleashes Quasar Frontal Attack the Overlord has seen enough. He steps into the ring drawing the DQ and declares he has had enough of illegal Titan tactics and decides Khety needs bringing away from someone who associates with murderers. Pharaoh Khety is pretty noisy in his post match interview reacting to Lord Nexus’s recent revelation on the techniques used to control his mind, “it’s all lies. Lord Nexus is trying to cover up for murder. He probably has skeletons in his own closet and feels guilt about his own murdering past. Titans are not to be trusted. My good friend the Occult Overlord has taught me that”.
Max Shield strolls to victory over Pollux. Max is the latest guy to take up the challenge on how fast Pollux can be finished off. It’s not the quickest but Max posts a respectable mark on the leaderboard needing just five moves before he is able to stop Pollux via MAXIMUM IMPACT.

***BUILD UP***
Matador warns Chaos. “Now I’m with the CPC and I’m the main man. Too long you kept me away from the Heavyweight belt so you could grab all the glory yourself. I’m out of your shadow and ready to show everybody who the superior athlete is”. Chaos arrogantly bites back describing himself as one of wonders of the universe. “The reason you could never hold the Heavyweight belt is because you are not in the same league as Chaos. You were only ever good enough to hang onto my coat tails. Now you have left the sanctuary of the Citadel of the Elite you will realise how much we carried you. When we meet in the ring you will be torn to shreds”.
Vyper believes he is on the verge of singles glory. He appears on camera with snakes writhing all over him. Spot, the largest and also the favourite of his snakes, has coiled itself round his waist to mimic a belt. Vyper warns Enigma that soon there will be no room for Spot around his waist as there will be no space to share with the Interplanetary belt. There is also a warning for Darkos that if he tries to interfere in the match there will be a snake surprise ready to haunt him, “check your shower, check the curtains, check under your bed, even check inside your bed because you never now where there might be a snake lurking”.
Card 683 – NETWORK DEIMOS WRESTLING– Deimos Intergalactic Arena:
Tag champs, Thunder and Overkill, crush Abomination. It would of been a major upset if Abomination had won the belts. There had been a bit of head scratching as to how they got the title shot in the first place but apparently they have scored some big wins in dark matches to reach this point (Death’s Head run as part of the Flesh and Bones tag team also counting in their favour). The Gladiators send them crawling back into their hole with a no nonsense display. Overkill was memorable as he picked up and slammed the humongous Cycle Hog like he was a featherweight. It knocked the wind out of Hog who crawled over for the tag and proclaimed he was finished. Neither Gladiator tries to stop him. Happy to allow Death’s Head in to become next victim. Death’s Head grins and exposes his frightening set of gnashers before unleashing some spiteful kicks and prods but he doesn’t last very long. Overkill gets him near a corner and uses TURNBUCKLE TRAP to end Abomination’s run. The Gladiators are starting to look unstoppable.
Vyper defeated Enigma to become new Interplanetary champ. Lots of support for Vyper. Has really built a following since ditching the Masked Assassins. A brilliant transformation from a troubled and depressed character into a guy with a glass half full sort of attitude capable of challenging for titles. He still has his morbid fascination with snakes but then nobody’s perfect. Notable that he has refused Terak’s offer to be at ringside by insisting this is something he needs to do on his own. Darkos does not want to offer the same courtesy but finds his chance to come to ringside stunted by snakes. Vyper has let several loose outside of Darkos’s private quarters within the arena (Darkos is extremely wealthy and often hires large areas out for privacy). Darkos cannot get out as he is frozen with fear. With both left to get on with it alone we are treated to a stunning match. As usual Enigma demonstrates some fantastic footwork with his flying drop kicks and all over aerial repertoire. Running out of superlatives to describe this guy. Vyper tries to stand up to him in the aerial battles but is always coming off second best. However, Enigma shows a weakness that plays into Vyper’s hands. In his eagerness to set up FEET OF FURY Enigma tries throwing Vyper outside several times. Cleverly Vyper, having done all his homework, makes sure to roll close to the apron so Enigma can’t get a clear shot. Enigma often chases him out but Vyper is by far the better brawler. It is during one of these exchanges that Vyper really gets on top and puts noticeable damage on Enigma. Back in the ring the speed and flair is now gone and Enigma is ripe for the pickings. VYPER’S SIDESHOW is soon forthcoming and we are heralding a new champion. Enigma looks devastated, that’s twice now he has held the belt but it’s been taken off him both times very quickly. For all his ability he just can’t hold onto glory.
Chaos beats the Matador by DQ in a non title match. The return of Chaos from suspension. Big month for Chaos with two huge matches. Winning both of them will put him straight back in the mix. Mandrill making his presence known by standing at the end of the runway to watch developments. Clearly makes Chaos feel uncomfortable but Mandrill later claims he was just looking out for and protecting a team mate. Despite the unwelcome entity onlooking Chaos starts fast. Looking to humiliate the Matador by beating him quickly. Within in a minute he has clamped BOW OF DEFEAT. Most men would start to crumble but the Matador is so talented he manages to shift his weight causing Chaos to topple and thus makes a great escape. The bout goes on for a long time after this but it’s notable that Chaos never got close to getting his favourite move off again. Instead we get a fascinating battle with the momentum see sawing back and forth. Chaos continuing to demonstrate incredible power and the Matador with sublime mat skills and technique. Also very evident that Chaos seeks to gain advantages by rolling out the ring regularly whereas the Matador often refuses that route preferring to stay in the ring. It’s setup for a grandstand finish until Reynard B. Guile makes himself more unpopular than ever (if that’s possible) by setting upon Chaos during one of his trips outside. He ruins things by causing the DQ but is soon regretting his actions as Chaos deflects the weak blows and picks him up by the throat one handed before throwing him several feet down the runway. Round one to Chaos but he is only ahead on points. Chaos looks angry as he storms straight past Reynard, who is struggling for breath, towards Mandrill. Neither of them exchange a word as they meet in front of the entrance and leave together. The Matador follows a couple minutes after. He grabs his belt from the table and walks right past B. Guile totally disinterested in the welfare of his manager.
Vengeance overcame Skinhead thanks to HELTER SKELTER. Vengeance had been under some surprising early pressure and turned the tables after slamming Skinhead illegally into a ring post. Vengeance looked a bit sheepish. He knows it was a cheap victory but he wasn’t about to let himself look weak by falling to an upset loss especially so close to this recent cleansing. If Skinhead fancied himself as a singles wrestler before this he’ll be reevaluating now. It’s a harsh reminder that you cannot rely on anyone to bail you out in moments of peril.
Johnny Rocket pinned Reynard B. Guile after ROCKET BLAST. Pre match announcement from GWF head office, 1 bonus MEGATOURNAMENT on offer to the winner just to make things interesting. It is low quality stuff but Reynard actually looks like the more accomplished wrestler. That is until Johnny smashes his mic right on Reynard’s hooter. B. Guile is left with a bloody nose and finished off. Reynard is no condition to challenge the decision of the ref at the time but hours later vociferously complains about how Johnny was allowed to bring a foreign object to the match and then use it against him. Johnny posts back that carrying his mic about and being able to use it in self defense is considered a perk of his job as a reporter and he was entitled to have it with him. As for actually using it unprovoked Johnny conveniently forgets this, “I don’t recall that happening. As I remember it I caught Reynard with a good wrestling move and then took my chance. I surprised myself at how good I am but then I have been covering wrestling for many years now so maybe it’s unsurprising that I am an expert. I’m so cool I can probably take my hand to anything”.
Genesis Prime beat Generation X by DQ. Frustration for Genesis Prime who are going full throttle chasing that first pin victory. Grunge won’t give them that pleasure as swings his guitar wildly round on the outside in Wraith’s direction. Crowd on the backs of Generation X for the way they keep disrespecting matches and not caring if they win or lose.
Rising Sun beat Mayhem by DQ. Since arriving in the GWF last year Rising Sun has been consistently ‘inconsistent’. Credit to him as he keeps throwing himself into all kinds of matches and opponents. He fears no challenge and they don’t come much crazier than Mayhem. The Gladiator is in usual wild mood making threats about creating a bloodbath in the ring before they come out. Maybe the comments have an inspiring impact on Rising Sun because Mayhem catches the Titan on one his good days. Rising Sun is dramatically pleasing on the eye and going toe to toe with Mayhem. So nearly pinning himwith SUNSET SPECTACULAR. A desperate last ditch escape is made by Mayhem. The near humiliation fires up Mayhem’s inner rage and he is hell bent on creating a war zone outside the ring. Managing to roll out and then drag Rising Sun with him. Tables are turned, chairs are tossed and even officials shoved as Mayhem goes wild on Rising Sun ignoring the sounds of the bell. Looks ominous for Rising Sun but he gets his head together and manages to move backward and divert one of the broken tables, littering the thin area between ring and crowd, into the path of Mayhem. The wild Gladiator stumbles and hits his head on the upturned table leg stunning him. Rising Sun wisely used this as his chance to retreat up the runway to the exit. Shame he didn’t get more out of tonight but he is happy to take the DQ win.
Killer Queen beat Pegasus by DQ. If Pegasus was looking for a confidence boost to prep for his clash with Chaos he didn’t get it here. He finds Queenie a difficult customer and slides to another defeat. Pegasus has been trying to win over the fans and become their new hero by making all the right noises in an interview taking place on a platform before the opening match. He said he is determined to work hard, keep plugging away and earn his right to be in the Champions team. Trouble is words need to be backed up by actions and he slips into a heel persona in the match. Getting frustrated by Queenie and in the end upsetting the ref when he used the Pegasus Press Slam and despite the warnings dumping him right over the top rope and into the crowd. Any chance to gain any sympathy is then lost by Pegasus’s inability to take the DQ defeat gracefully. Shouting at and then grabbing the ref and pointing angrily at his face is not the best way to endear one’s self.

Card 684 – Niagara Tower of Lights:
Heavyweight champ, Matador of M83, sees off Wolf with a plucky count-out win. Although Wolf has his eyes on the prize the chance to be at such close quarters to Reynard B. Guile again is almost as significant. All the history between them adds an extra layer and seeing as the Matador is not particularly fond of his manager there will likely be little or no protection for Reynard. Got to hand to the B. Guile though, he maybe a snivelling little weasel but he never goes missing. There is a very real chance Wolf will get his hands on him but he is still there creating distractions and doing his bit to try and ensure the belt stays on the Matador. It’s a fantastic match and initially the Matador has the colour commentators purring. His beautiful move set keeping Wolf at bay and putting some tokens on him. But nobody can keep Wolf pegged back for an entire match. Wolf surges back and is on the verge of glory as he clamps SAVAGE FACE CLAW. Now Reynard B. Guile, who’d been quiet to this point, earns his crust. Jumping up on the apron and belittling Wolf and making suggestive comments about Amazonia. Inexplicably Wolf releases the hold and goes after Reynard chasing him round the ring. Matador is handed a lifeline and doesn’t waste it. When Wolf comes back at him having unsuccessfully pursued B. Guile he is suitably recovered and catches Wolf with a head into turnbuckle reverse. As Wolf staggers he then lands one of his devastating one legged karate kicks. Wolf is down but instinctively rolls out of the ring. Not thinking straight he sees the blurry image of B. Guile ahead of him in a taunting position and tries to get him again but he is far too slow and wobbly. As he clumsily moves round the ring the Matador times a leap over the ropes and collided with him to put him down again. It’s one shot too many for Wolf to take and he is counted-out. Sadly he was not only out wrestled but also out thought tonight. Wolf comes in for criticism for letting Reynard’s comments get to him and relinquishing a big chance to win the belt. However Wolf is emotionally charged and it would of been difficult for anyone to ignore such vile and unrepeatable things being said. Maybe he’ll come after the Matador again but a loss is a loss and very rarely do outcomes like this lead to immediate rematches.
Falls Count Anywhere (Grogan’s idea), Pegasus defeated Chaos after a power bomb in the Matador’s dressing room. For Chaos, getting the Heavyweight belt back takes precedence over all other matters. Any opponent or enemy he faces it is done with that in mind. A way to move a rung further up the rankings ladder towards a title match. He doesn’t even really care all that much about the fact crucial MEGATOURNAMENT points are on the line. With winning being such an obsession Chaos is probably a bit bummed at Commissioner Grogan’s special match decision. As we’ve seen previously Falls Count Anywhere matches are a bit of a lottery where anything can happen. In any other match Chaos would of been the favourite but now it wasn’t so cut and dried. So it proves to be as a clunky match emerges. When they are in the ring it’s very even. Outside of the ring it’s all rather awkward and neither quite sure how to use all the available props effectively. There are slams into souvenir stands and also some grappling within the first few rows of the crowd but it doesn’t look like anything much is going to happen. Chaos even throws a paper waste basket at Pegasus. Quite why he thought that would be an impact move is anyone’s guess. However suddenly it takes a turn. The pair of them are moving up the runway and exchanging lazy punches. They move through the exit curtain and the action is beamed to big screens above the ring so the audience can see what is happening. The battle could go anywhere but they end up bursting through a door into a dressing room. Of all the people that could of been in there it is the Matador’s, current arch enemy of Chaos. Busily preparing himself for his title defense in the main event he doesn’t take kindly to the intrusion and when he sees it is Chaos it makes him extra mad. Realising this is a chance to burst Chaos’s bubble he assists Pegasus. By distracting Chaos it gives Pegasus a vital opening. Pegasus looks around and spots the glistening Heavyweight belt sitting on a bench. He picks it up (despite protestations from Reynard B. Guile not to touch it) and stares lustfully at it for a few seconds before using it as a weapon right on the back of Chaos’s head. The big man does well not to go down on impact but slumps to one knee. Pegasus knows it’s now or never and harks back to his powerful style by remarkably picking Chaos up and powerbombing him there and then. The referee who had been trying to use the arena screens to track them down arrives right in time to make the count. Massive win for Pegasus and at the same time massive blow for Chaos and more importantly Morpheus. His team is malfunctioning badly and even this early he looks like a cooked goose.
Titan Death Battlezone match, Savage Kingdom defeat the Masked Assassins. Big cheer goes up for Stalker when the fans sight him. All recovered from his nasty injury and looking right as rain. They are looking forward to seeing him back in action but as the luck of the draw turns out he never gets to see any ring time. Vyper is a real stalwart and his heroics inspires the team to victory. Order of matches ... Wildcat wins a draining battle with Demon to get Savage Kingdom off to a flier. He nails WILDCAT STRIKE but carries 4 tokens into the next contest; No surprise as Enigma walks over Wildcat with a flying cannonball getting the job done; Enigma barley troubled by the Creeper. FEET OF FURY gains victory and puts the Masked Assassins into a strong position. Next up the match everyone was hoping for as Enigma faces Vyper. Can Enigma get revenge for losing the IP belt?; Vyper has the measure of Enigma once again. VYPER’S SIDESHOW is the thorn in Enigma’s side. Vyper has big bragging rights over his feud rival now; Vyper beats Hydra. Tough match for Vyper who is guilty of taking Hydra too lightly but he eventually comes through with VYPER’S SIDESHOW doing the damage for him again. Masked Assassins now down to their last man; Vyper wins the whole match by seeing off Darkos. He has been amazing for the Savage Kingdom with three wins to go with his recent IP belt success.
Monad defeated Eagle with QUADRUPLE CLAMP. Very nervous moment for Eagle stepping in with Monad. Too much, too early and as if the GWF has thrown him to the wolves by booking this match. Not helped that in his interview a very defeatist attitude comes across, “I know it’s impossible to win. Just got to get thought it as best I can”. Despite the melancholy murmurings Eagle does actually manage to get a couple of decent early moves in with Eagle High Dive worrying the watching Johnny Rocket but it’s the briefest of offences. The direction of the match changes very quickly and Monad punishes Eagle who spends most of his remaining time in the ring just holding on. It’s a prolonged beating and Eagle is bleeding from his mouth and down on his hands and knees after being defeated with the clamp. Johnny Rocket excitedly announces on his mic that Monad is moving to the front of the pack in a bid to win Rocket’s prize for the best act of villainy. He hands the stage back to Monad who pounces on Raven with a flurry of punches. With four arms to do the damage there are several blows to body and head every second. Raven to the rescue. He had travelled in secret as he suspected Johnny Rocket and Monad would do something sinister and is totally prepared. He dramatically descends into the ring on a wire from the top of the arena. It’s quite a sight and Raven (who is holding a lasso rope) expertly throws it round Monad before he has even hit the ground. The ropes instantly tighten round Monad and immobilise all four arms. Raven unhooks himself and helps up his grateful cousin. Johnny Rocket is outside looking shocked and fires off some abuse at Raven as if to say ‘how dare you stick your beak into matters’. His courage soon leaves him as Raven jumps over the rope and lands right in front of him. There is no Monad to protect him and Johnny appears to wet himself with fear. Raven thinks that is humiliation enough and allows Johnny to leave unharmed. Raven and Eagle do a short crowd pose and then leave to cheering. Monad is so tightly bound he has to be led away still tied up and will be cut free backstage.
The Watchmen beat the Mercenaries by DQ. Sounds like one of those fake Hitman deals in a bid to drum up business. Krakan claims Max Shield paid him to setup this match. Max immediately denied it. Think we know who can be believed more. Dire match where two teams so entrenched in rule breaking and violence were never going to allow a clean finish. Ends in an outside brawl. Painmaster and Vigilante squabbling over possession of a foreign object. Vigilante gets hold of it first and strikes out leading to the DQ finish.
Mad Jester beat Draconian Sheik by DQ. Always a good opener if you’ve good a bloodthirsty crowd although probably not suitable for the stomachs of this lot packed into the tradition Niagara Tower. It’s wild stuff as expected. Drac is just that bit wilder and has the edge. Applies DRACONIAN BACKBREAKER several times without joy. No doubting Jester is in trouble though as he gets tossed outside. Looks dead and buried but Cannibal can’t help sticking the boot in. He still has the violent itch and cannot stay hands off. The ref wants to keep the match going and fires off a warning but then cannot let things go when Drac joins his manager in the beating. They leave Jester in a laughing and bloody heap but in truth it could have been much worse as the wounds are only superficial. Strange that they didn’t really go to town as knowing their sadistic streak they would of been expected to create a total bloodbath. Maybe saving it for a bigger stage.

More details on Blazing Skull’s eligibility to wrestle. Commissioner Grogan confirms Blazing Skull can only wrestle when the GWF hosts shows on Brymstone. Unfortunately they are contractually obliged to under Galactic law and by the UFSP to do so or else they will be punished for discrimination. Grogan says there all plenty of places he would also prefer the GWF did not tour, Aethra also being one of them but his hands are tied. However, no wrestler can be forced to compete at these places unless they have actually put pen to paper and signed for a match. With that in mind he says the best way to stay away from undesirables and dangerous locations is not to agree to matches and urges the roster to think very carefully before travelling.
Pegasus is conducting the hero orchestra at the moment. He recovered from surprising defeats and a lack of crowd backing to pull off a vital victory against Chaos. It made him the biggest point scorer for the Hero team and gave hints on his potential to become the next big superstar. There is still a long way to go. Needs to back this up with more big victories and also get the crowd more on his side but it’s now looking positive. Omega and the remainder of the team know they might need to stroke his ego a little bit to help integrate. They all made a big fuss of celebrating his first win against Chaos.
The rotating PPV slot introduces us to RUCK ‘N’ WRESTLE next as GWF officials are keen to get away from the FIRE OF FESTIVAL theme what with all the recent burning incidents. Generation X are talking big saying they will be there to play some hits and even Johnny Rocket will be on vocals. New Order warns that if they do try to take to the stage they will smash up their guitars again. Exo-King has some good news. Royal Blood will reunite as an official team at the event. Father and son had a successful run before disbanding last year and were very over with the fans. It could be one last shot at belt success for Exo-King who is not getting any younger. Bishop Hell wants the big main event title shot at the event despite not being the recognised top contender within GWF HQ (it’s still listed as Wolf). He cites the current GWI magazine rankings list as a fairer and more reliable source in his pleading. A solid comeback victory over Colussus and lots a dark match successes has elevated his position. There is also no Pulsar to stand his way as the long suspension still keeps him away from the action. Grogan steps in to make a decision by stating that a non-title match is granted with a victory of any type earning the shot. If Bishop Hell fails then the title match will automatically go back to Wolf.
Still much being made of Thantos going for the big tenth title reign. The way he has been in singles matches it’s been suggested he should target the IP belt. Wins over Monad and Overkill have helped his surge. It’s the usual discussion over whether Thantos should give his all to tag team action or keep going with his singles push. Maybe if Star Warrior and Thantos didn’t keep wrestling singles matches and worked together the Gamemasters would of been more successful than they have been since their dramatic reunion. So far 1 belt reign (a 12 card run almost 4 years ago) and 1 OTB victory (back in 2098) has been slightly underwhelming. For now Thantos’s intentions are unknown. Neither he nor Star Warrior are in the mix for any title action singles or otherwise in the next month.
Mandrill is making his presence felt wherever possible in villain MEGATOURNAMENT matches. Whilst never appearing directly at ringside he often makes sure he is seen. Whether it be at the end of the runway or (if the venue supports it) balconies and viewing galleries. He is taking his role as Morpheus’s assistant very seriously and holding daily tactical meetings. Even Morpheus is surprised at the dedication to the cause. There is still a very sinister undertone and plenty of distrust.
Ram just can’t stay quiet. Now he is unhappy that his time in the ring is being restricted. Colby and Pelf nip the mutiny in the bud not by throwing cash at the problem but arranging for Ram to beaten up. It is rumoured that the Hitmen took care of business for them. Ram is forced to take his licks and fall obediently into line. It is a reminder not to bite the hands that feed him and could be his very last chance. Colby and Pelf continue to rule by a combo of money and fear. They seem to have a lot of people eating out of their hands. So far clearly working as the Independent team is flying.
Early struggles for Genesis Prime. They know improvement is needed if they are going to match up to the Watchmen in their feud. Vertigo is often acting as the spokesman for the team and seems to be the informal leader. He says they are working hard to get themselves up to speed and predicts an up turn in their fortunes soon. Different story over on the Colonizers. The Watchmen have made their presence felt and there are reports of strong results in many dark matches (specific details unknown).
Eagle has been thrown to the wolves somewhat since emerging on the GWF scene. Pitched into higher profile bouts than perhaps he is ready for. Maybe fed officials saw some potential and were trying to give him a push. Raven continues to support his cousin but admits maybe it is better Eagle melts back into the undercard whilst he hones his skills, “it might take him a couple of years to develop fully. The potential is there and I am always available to help him. I think we need to try and keep away from the likes of Monad and facing guys on a similar level”. At least Raven and Eagle were able to humiliate Johnny Rocket. Fans are taunting over what happened by calling him Johnny Wet Pants. Johnny angrily denies that even happened and says Raven will pay for his actions.
Colussus is desperate to get his hands on Heracles. Sensing a chance to look good again (after some awful results and an embarrassing injury) Heracles arrogantly says Colussus must wrestle and beat all the other Citadel members before he will even consider facing him. Apparently Colussus must earn the right to be in the same ring as Heracles. This obviously infuriates Colussus but he’ll do anything to get him in the ring and has immediately started signing the matches. Omega thinks Heracles is just stalling and this will be a part of a big build towards a huge match at GALACTICON.
No injuries as we move into a new month. It’s been a long time since we had a clean bill of health across the entire roster! Still a spattering of suspensions being served out but nearly all done.
WHOSE HOT … Vyper, Matador of M83, Bishop Hell, Quasar, Monad, New Order, Demons of Hydra WHOSE NOT … Eagle, Meteor, Zoauve, Gila, Mutant, Chaos, Wolf, Genesis Prime, Pillars of Power INJURED – none; SUSPENDED – Splatter (2), Pulsar (4), the Henchmen (4)
MEGATOURNAMENT STANDINGS: Colby-Pelf Corp 66, Omega’s Heroes 43, Morpheus’s Villians 26. (Not a huge point scoring month but nonetheless the Matador and the Gladiators are still racking up the points for Colby and Pelf. The Gladiators have more points than the entire tag team roster put together. Morpheus and Mandrill’s partnership clearly needs time to gel as they drop back further)
INDIVIDUAL SCORING: SINGLES: Matador 23, Wolf 10, Pegasus 10, Alpha Force 9, Pulsar 8, Janus 5, Splatter 4, Mandrill 4, Monad 4, Chaos 2, Bishop Hell 2, Vengeance 1, Johnny Rocket 1, Colussus, Raven, Max Shield, Mayhem, Holocaust, Heracles 0 TAG TEAM: Thunder and Overkill 22, Superiority Complex 6, New Order 6, Gamemasters 4, Flamboyance 4, Sam’s Squadron, Mercenaries, Henchmen, Generation X, Pillars of Power 0 WOMEN: Thrash 4; Amazonia 4; Cassandra 2
Wrestler of the Month: MATADOR OF M83 – May not of won both matches this month but to come out of battles with Wolf and Chaos not only still holding the belt but also looking strong is a great achievement. He is the stand out singles performer so far and already the hot favourite to secure that elusive MVP award.
Tag Team of the Month: NEW ORDER – Sensational victory within two moves over Pillars of Power. It’s been tough for them ever since WAR stopped feuding with the Gladiators. Their motivation has been questioned but with hostilities being rekindled plus their ongoing battles with Generation X they’re now ready and up for it.

FEATURED DARK MATCHES - Aethran War Dome
(Double show from Aethra. First GWF trip back to Aethra post Civil War. The new breed of Gladiators are treated like conquering heroes. The crowd stomp the ground respectfully on their entrances. Thakur is nowhere to be seen and very little has been heard of him since the press conferences when he announced his decision. However, Massacre is spotted among the Aethran crowd as an interested observer. Rumour is that he and the other ex Gladiators have been put to work training potential future wrestlers. No chance to enjoy retirement in Aethran society)
#1 - Vengeance overwhelms Alpha Force and wins with HELTER SKELTER. Mixed fortunes for the two Gladiator stars tonight but at least it has ended with a stomping approval from the Aethran crowd as Vengeance is back on the winning trail against a big hero rival. Will Vengeance look to try and reclaim the IP belt or now set his sights higher and go after Heavyweight belt glory (if and when the Matador drops it)? Aethran attitudes to the secondary singles belts are very unpredictable. Sometimes seen with the same respect as discarded litter but recently (especially during the Civil War) given a greater attention as the Gladiators had been ordered to dominate all available gold. That was very much the mantra of Thakur but Vengeance is now tasked with leading the Gladiators and might have different plans and priorities; Janus beats Mayhem to send the crowd into total silence. Dramatic battle with both appearing to be at their very best. Janus mostly in control but suddenly gives a slip up and Mayhem is on him nailing DANGER ZONE. Then the exact same sequence of events plays itself out twice in the space of a couple of minutes. Mayhem tries LEAP OF DOOM but misses the mark and Janus is straight after him with GORDION KNOT. Mayhem miraculously powers out much to Janus’s consternation and recovers quickly. Perched again Mayhem goes for his suicide leap once more. Maybe earlier damage is starting to tell for he is even wider of the mark this time. Janus knows he has a far greater chance of finishing things off now and ties Mayhem in a knot again. Sure enough Mayhem offers much less resistance and soon fades. Massive triumph for the the villain team here right in the Gladiator’s backyard; Prodigy defeated Colussus. Starting a path towards meeting Heracles at GALACTICON. Colussus faces the first Elite member Prodigy but stumbles at the first hurdle. Skinhead shows the bond between partners by placing himself ringside and it is clear just his mere presence is unsettling to Colussus. He doesn’t do anything too major. Just a few insults and a couple of ankle grabs but it’s enough. Colussus never looks at ease and there is very little by way of potent offensive moves. Even so it is a surprise to see Prodigy triumph. Overcoming the power differential to dazzle with fast moves and ultimately lock in a Cobra Grip to win; Ram and Holocaust upset Titan Fury. Reynard B. Guile acts like he is a celeb in Aethra as a result of past connections with the Gladiators (early days with the Bounty Hunter) although he gets zero crowd reaction. Fed up with Reynard B. Guile’s bragging, interfering and constant leaping onto the apron to either distract or argue with the ref Lord Nexus takes action. Lord Nexus never does anything that could be construed as illegal though. All he does is wait until his team looks like it is in a winning position and tosses Trainer Jim’s famous towel (which Jim passed onto him when retiring) and tosses it at Reynard. In fumbling to catch it, the towel goes over B. Guile’s face and he falls off the apron denting his top hat in the process. He is occupied just long enough for Dragonmaster to get some dangerous looking offense on Ram. However much to Lord Nexus’s dismay Ram catches Dragonmaster with a surprise counter move and out of nowhere pins him. Annoying post match commenting from Reynard B. Guile who teases the Titans that even when they try to cheat they cannot beat his team. He then arrogantly proclaims he has found the winning formula and predicts the team of Ram and Holocaust can become tag champions. Can you imagine if they were? We would never hear the end of it if B. Guile was managing both of the main champions. It’s another kick in the teeth for Titan Fury. On paper they look like a potentially devastating team capable of greatness. Unfortunately they are in danger of being like Titan Power who were a legendary team but really under achieved in their tenure; Pharaoh Khety upsets Mad Jester. Pollux originally booked but he wimps out and refuses to wrestle in Aethra. Maybe Mad Jester wasn’t expecting the last minute change of opponent as he is nowhere his level even allowing for all the fooling. Pharaoh Khety dedicates his triumph to his good friend, the Draconian Sheik. Although am sure Drac has no idea who he is (note - despite his weak card Khety has done much better than expected for me in the GWF. He even did enough to earn a shot at the IP belt a few weeks ago); Zouave and Gila defeat Eagle and Meteor. In a classic demonstration of Aethran disrespect most of the crowd wait until the first match has finished before entering the War Dome. They have no time for watching a group of undercarders battle it out and find it unbelievable that the GWF thinks they are worthy of being allowed to wrestle on Aethra. They didn’t miss much. Low on quality and low on ideas. The action drags and it is something of a relief when Zouave finally puts Eagle away after a Tombstone Piledriver.
#2 - Thunder and Overkill defeated Genesis Prime in non-title action. The Gladiators make a silent march to the ring. Thrash knows her place and walks several steps behind them. Even though the belts are not on the line Thunder and Overkill know they cannot fail in front of their home crowd. They have looked pretty much unstoppable so far in 2101 but winning runs don’t last forever and this would be a bad time to slip up. Stomping in unison echoes through the arena as the people of Aethra show respect for their champions. Genesis Prime have struggled since entering the GWF and this is really not the sort of match to build confidence but perhaps they think a big scalp can quicken their ascent up the rankings. For a while it looks like the fairytale could come true. Thunder is struggling against Wraith’s invisibility (Wraith almost used all his allowed attempts up within the first few minutes) and also Vertigo’s dizzying speed. He even has to kick out of a pin attempt after MOTION SICKNESS. Overkill is needed to restore normality. His power is too much for either Vertigo and Wraith to handle. He makes Vertigo pay for trying to embarrass Thunder and is soon setting up DECAPITATOR on him. Thrash does her bit by nailing Wraith before he can get through the ropes to help his partner. Thunder calmly pins poor Vertigo and then kicks him out of the ring. Genesis Prime are not allowed to share the ring inside the Dome with the Gladiators for a second longer than is necessary. Vertigo and Wraith will look back on this with mixed feelings. Positives that they went toe to toe with the Gladiators for long periods but ultimately they were well and truly put in their place. The Gladiators always had another gear to use against them and continue to have that look of invincibility; New Order emerge victorious over the Demons of Hydra by DQ. New Order continues to fight the perhaps unwanted monicker of being sleeping giants within tag division. Now they have a big chance facing the Demons in a top contender match (Grogan’s committee guys couldn’t split them but wanted this settled off screen). They are walking into the lion’s den here as targets of hate. High wire fences have to be put up in front of the Aethran crowd to prevent weapons being thrown at them. The reaction if they win could get even more hostile as it means they will be facing Thunder and Overkill. Despite the violent atmosphere New Order mean business. They are not about to pass the opportunity up. Poor Demon gets an early battering with TWIST AND SHOUT and THE HOLOCAUST (+5) both used on him. Only desperate measures from both Darkos and Hydra keep him alive. Hydra inspires a brief fight back but New Order soon begin to turn the screw on him too. Dreggs looks like he could be ending the resistance soon. Hydra rolls outside and looking to try something drastic calls to the crowd for a weapon but the high fences do their job as all sorts of things are offered up (hammers, metal bars and even a mace). Darkos takes matters into his own hands and goes for Dreggs. It allows the Demons to gang up on him until both Mace and Destructon 3000 wade in. Destructon 3000 sending everyone sprawling. The ref has long since stopped the match and everyone anxiously awaits the verdict. Delight for New Order as they are proclaimed DQ winners which sends the Aethran crowd into a fit of rage. New Order will now challenge Thunder and Overkill for the belts; Colussus pinned Skinhead. Prodigy at ringside returning the favour to his partner. Whilst far from loved by the Aethran crowd they actively encourage his rulebreaking. Colussus feels like he is fighting two people plus the rowdy crowd. It’s not ideal for Colussus but he recovers from a really rocky start in which BAD ATTITUDE is used against him three times and also nearly being counted-out following a sneaky outside attack from Prodigy. Colussus absorbs all this punishment and eventually starts showing what he can do. Once Colussus gets on his roll there is very little Skinhead can do to stop him and CYBORG DEATHBLOW is what finishes him off; Pegasus crushes Pharaoh Khety. Pegasus still flexing his hero muscles but looks extremely good here. Almost winning it with one move but Khety kicks out. Instead has to settle for two moves as he then immediately goes for PROJECT PEGASUS to win! Dynamo stops by to make a nuisance of himself. He was probably planning to steam in during the match but he is late to the party as Pegasus has already won and about to leave when they clash. Perhaps taken aback there is just an array of verbals from Dynamo. When Pegasus shows he is up for a battle there and then in the runway Dynamo backs off and vows to take him on and beat him again in the ring before departing. He is bit bummed his grander plan was unable to happen because Pharaoh Khety was so inept. No doubt Pegasus needs to nip this thing with Dynamo in the bud. If he is to push forward as the top hero guy he cannot be getting bogged down in old feuds with ex partners; Bishop Hell burns Ram with HELLFIRE. Ram keen to make his mark on a guy he has always hated, even when they were on the same team. He lays everything onto Bishop Hell. It’s unbelievable that he doesn’t win the match as even a perfect bullseye with RAM CHARGE (on top of 3 other pin attempts) doesn’t end it. Mega missed opportunity for Ram and he seems to now lose heart. It’s all been a bit half baked from Bishop Hell during most of the bout but he seizes on a rare run of offensive moves which culminated in his fiery finish. Reynard B. Guile is watching Ram from ringside but notably does nothing to help him. No sneaky distractions. Suspicions that Reynard is under orders from Sonora Pelf and Magnus Colby not to help Ram out in a bid to teach the dissenter another lesson for challenging their authority. Only problem is it does cost them MEGATOURNAMENT points but guess they have become so arrogant by the lead they are building it is decided that they can spare them; Justice takes down Vanity in the opener. Justice a bit cross with himself that he tries SHOCK PROBATION unsuccessfully twice (both only +1 impacts). His timing is off tonight so he reverts to another one of his preferred moves Canon Law which nabs the pin. Maxine Babe not a happy bunny on the outside. She spends most of her time trying to get a reaction from the Aethran crowd by flaunting her ginormous assets but is largely snubbed. Later she makes a huge error by questioning what was wrong with them and suggesting many of them might be gay as it’s the only explanation! The comments cause massive uproar and Thrash is immediately sent on a mission to destroy her.

Card 685 – Niagara Tower of Lights:
Colussus defeated Mandrill by DQ. Not a match for the feint hearted. Pre taped promo is interesting as Mandrill describes himself as a honorary Citadel member and leader of the villain team. Will raise eyebrows among the other Citadel members. Morpheus may be silently preferring his assistant quietened down a little and what will he make of the Watchmen stalking around in a points match? Whilst not directly at ringside they are making themselves visible. Are they trying to worm their way into the MEGATOURNAMENT? Colussus cannot keep his focus on the match and goes out to meet them after several minutes of even grappling but he barely gets a quarter way down the runway when Mandrill nails him from behind. Colussus is being stomped on but looks up to see Painmaster laughing in his face before suddenly feeling himself dragged by the legs back towards the ring by Mandrill. Looking bad for Colussus but Mandrill is stopped in his tracks by a no nonsense referee. The mere presence of the Watchmen makes him decide to call for the bell as it gave an unfair advantage. He also felt if he didn’t do something a sinister attack may well of been in the works and wanted to foil any plan to do so. Mandrill is angry and looks like may be about to strike the referee but he is very smart and manages to restrain himself. Doing something that might end up with him getting suspended could seriously interfere with any takeover he is planning (or at least slow it down). Colussus targets Painmaster in the post match analysis and says the image of him laughing as he was being dragged has etched itself into his brain.
Vengeance and Mayhem link up to beat the Gamemasters. More Gladiator superiority as the two singles stars step out their comfort zone to beat the legendary Gamemasters. It’s a titanic tussle which ends with Mayhem hitting Star Warrior full on with LEAP OF DOOM (+6). Thantos trying desperately to get to his partner but immediately cut off by the referee allowing Vengeance and Mayhem to nail Star Warrior again for a double dose of damage. Nobody is going to survive something like this and Mayhem casually pins Star Warrior. He then stands court in the ring crazily swinging his chain and preventing Thantos from getting in and seeing to his stricken partner.
Thrash pinned Maxine Babe after a cross body block. Unfortunately Maxine Babe made a massive mistake by casting aspersions on the Aethran race and Thrash has been ordered to hunt her down. To say that Maxine Babe has been worried is an understatement. The only reason she is agreeing to face Thrash is because Commissioner Grogan contacted her about the matter. His advice was to face up to what she has done and get the match over with. Otherwise the Aethrans will continue to hound her. Maxine Babe has no Vanity with her. He is running scared of the Gladiators so Killer Queen agrees to be ringside instead. However he doesn’t want to get on their bad side either so doesn’t do an awful lot. Thrash tries to cram as much punishment in as possible. Maxine Babe didn’t lay a finger on her and is easily beaten.
Cage match, Mutant defeated the Creeper. Loud cheer goes up when this is announced. This was a mystery match so nobody knew what was booked. Cage matches between these two have always been popular and the GWF felt it was about time we had another one as it’s been a few years. It is fabulous entertainment. Loads of tokens. Mutant revelling in some freedom from it’s captivity and wildly beating on the Creeper but not understanding the concept of the match. By failing to take escape chances it allows the Creeper some comeback time and it unleashed ELIMINATOR twice. The Creeper seems a bit more willing to try and find a way out but Mutant gets given too much recovery time and instinctively pulls it back. Finally Mutant has the chance to win, TEMPLE GRINDER leaves the Creeper grounded and moaning. No coming back now but Mutant still can’t get out the cage. It is totally confused. In the end an official has to open the cage door wide open for it and literally coax Mutant out or else we’d of been here all night. No time for the fans to pay homage to Mutant’s efforts for it is immediately put on a leash and led away.
The Watchmen defeat Titan Fury after Double Team Mallet catches Dragonmaster out. Painmaster calls the Watchmen the greatest tag team in the galaxy in wake of this major win. That’s stretching the truth but they certainly do look ominous and are largely overshadowing Genesis Prime in the early part of 2101 (even though the teams are yet to actually meet).
Raven overcomes Metalhead by DQ. Johnny Rocket gets dramatically ejected from ringside after trying to interfere following Raven’s BLADERUNNER. It’s one sneaky move too many. Johnny quietly leaves his mic behind intending for Metalhead to use as a weapon which of course he does. Metalhead lacks the art of concealment and does it in full view. A loss but as seen many times before Metalhead doesn’t really care.

Card 686 – Callisto Centroplex:
Interplanetary champ, Vyper, overcomes Monad. Johnny Rocket has lowered Monad’s sights to the IP belt. He is desperate to win quick gold and says Doomsayer was shooting too high with his creation. He brags he will manage Monad much better. In his own words “Doomsayer may of been a scientific genius but I am a genius at managing wrestlers. Look at the improvements I have already made to his old team. I confidently predict we will be smoking cigars tonight!” He has to ride out a lot of Johnny Wet Pants heckling. Things only get worse as Vyper makes a mockery of his bragging and supposedly superior managerial tactics by dominating Monad. If anything it looks like Doomsayer’s creation has gone further backwards. Vyper not taking long to beat a clueless Monad with VYPER’S SIDESHOW. Johnny tries interfere and rescue things but gets clotheslined down himself for his troubles. He then gets an extra post match beating from Vyper and draped with Spot (Vyper’s snake) which delights the crowd. Johnny gets touchy when later being interviewed about what happened and says as the more experienced media man he will control the mic and ask all the questions.
Bishop Hell beats the Matador in a non-title match. A win of any kind will get Bishop Hell a title shot. There is talk that Colby and Pelf want the Matador to lose so that he will face Bishop Hell again at RUCK ‘N’ WRESTLE. A title defense against Bishop Hell instead of Wolf is preferable. The Matador, whilst arrogant, is ultra professional and there is no hint that he is taking it easy. Unfortunately it seems everything is set up to ensure Bishop Hell wins. In full view of the ref the Matador is blasted with HELLFIRE. Yet the official does nothing. Clutching his face the Matador goes down and is pinned yet the ref does nothing other than to obediently make the pin count (paid off perhaps). Bishop Hell and the Overlord are going to the big main event and celebrate as if they’ve already won the belt.
Titan Death match, Chaos and Mandrill beat Max Shield and Alpha Force. MEGATOURNAMENT points announced as being available with them to be split among the winners. This is awkward as Chaos and Mandrill combine. Both are jockeying to lead the villain team. Doubts over their ability to co-exist. With Titan Death match rules deployed Morpheus is unable to be present to manage the egos. There is some controversy when a few minutes in Mandrill abandons his post to go and speak with Painmaster who appears half way down the runway. Chaos is left alone for about 5 minutes. A tough battle with Max Shield goes on but Chaos improvises with a long choke hold spot to try and eat up time. When Mandrill returns Chaos looks quietly angry. Regardless of this Chaos wrestles better than he has for a long time and manhandles long time enemy Alpha Force and grabs BOW OF DEFEAT at least twice. Mandrill later dismisses the incident only stating that it was to address an urgent and private matter. Claims it also had no bearing on the outcome of the match. Chaos will beg to differ as it allowed Mandrill to be fresher. Chaos had done most of the hard work and damage but Mandrill was able to come in and hog the glory by finishing a wilting Alpha Force with his illegal VOLTAIC STUNNER. Bickering aside Morpheus will be happy. His two top guys may not of got along but the job got done. Doesn’t matter how it was achieved.
Painmaster upsets Colussus. Match crops up after the last show when the Watchmen created distracting havoc from afar and rattled Colussus’s cage. Colussus finally lets Omega join him at ringside. He has been heavily outnumbered in matches wrestled recently and it’s time to even the score. Of course Omega keeps his involvement purely in a managerial capacity. Turns into a brutally long match. It’s all Painmaster to begin. Colussus looks jaded but shows remarkable resilience. He is in THE TORTURE RACK three times but won’t give in. Painmaster is then shocked when he uses Painmaster Anesthetic and Colussus just gets up like nothing happened. Guess he doesn’t know about Colussus ability to absorb moves on his robotic side. The failures take the wind out of Painmaster’s sails and Colussus comes back at him. Encouraged by Omega he gives a taste of his opponent’s cruel medicine with his own version of THE TORTURE RACK and also CYBORG DEATHBLOW. Colussus closing in another victory it appears and turning his surprising loss to Prodigy at the beginning of this crusade into a distant memory. Or so it seemed. Painmaster is riled at having his own moves used against him and it stirs him into life again. Poor Colussus hasn’t enough left in the tank to survive the second storm. By the time he is taken down by a cross body deathjump it is his 6th token and he can barely move a muscle much less kick out. Colussus is thankful for his manager, Omega, being with him tonight. Firstly it stops Painmaster laying out any after the bell punishment. It also means he has trusted assistance for the painful walk from the ring. Noble to the bitter end Omega takes most of Colussus’s weight on his shoulders and sees him safely away. Not much time to rest for Colussus. It’s Chaos up next on #688. With all the matches it is an exhausting month for Colussus and he is in danger of flagging but if it all ends with him finally coming up against Heracles it’ll be worth it.
(Murderer’s Row-King’s Court feud in the spotlight with 2 matches. Honours shared overall)
Abomination beat Mad Jester and Exo-King. Predictably strange match with Exo-King being the only normal one among them. As if to emphasise this Cycle Hog sees Death’s Head biting at Exo-King and desperately wants to be tagged in for a slice of the pie. Hogs takes one bite, does one move and then tags out because he is blowing hard. Hog later exclaims Exo-King doesn’t taste as good as cherry pie and vows to educate Death’s Head on culinary matters. Cooking tips aside there was some actual wrestling and it remarkably finishes clean. Mad Jester bombs again as he missed a death jump against Death’s Head and then gets buried with FUNERAL MARCH.
Jack of Diamonds impressively handles Draconian Sheik. Worried about the safety of his son against a lunatic like Drac, Exo-King insists on accompanying him (even though he should be preparing for his own match). It’s a brawl before the bell and in the melee Drac drops his sharp object. Ends up in Jack’s hands but Exo-King keeps him honest. He didn’t raise his son to behave like a villain and Jack does him proud by handing the object straight to the referee. Troubled by the loss of his weapon (or should we say toy) Drac starts trying to wreck the ring. First tearing off turnbuckle pads. Even Cannibal is trying to bring him under some control. Jack quickly mounts one of the still intact buckles and lands an ax handle on Drac which breaks the act of destruction. The bell finally rings to actually signal things are officially underway. By this time Jack is already well in the swing. A choke hold, Throne Strap and DIAMOND CUT follow leading to the win in only 3 moves. Cannibal is so stunned at ringside he drops the skull he had been stroking on the floor causing it to break into segments.

Card 687 – Callisto Centroplex:
Tag champs, Thunder and Overkill, beat New Order in a Cosmic Cage match. New Order hoping to reach the top of the tag team tree once again, it’s been a long time since that happened. Recent years have not been so good but Dreggs says it’s a new dawn and they are putting past losses behind them. The colour commentators aren’t so sure and famously say that “New Order look like lambs being led to the slaughter”. Match upgraded to a special one last minute by Grogan. He wants the contest held inside a cage to separate the men from the boys. New Order give a decent effort but Overkill’s power seems almost infinite. He carries the Gladiators to a huge win after mauling Dreggs and tossing him like a rag doll into the sides of the cage. The heavily beaten New Order just cannot last the pace and surrender their big opportunity. Mace doesn’t take defeat too kindly and complains they weren’t prepared for the switch of match type and should get another title shot. He also hates how everyone is waxing lyrical about Overkill’s incredible strength and wants to face him in a singles match to find out who the more powerful guy is.
Splatter wins against the Creeper by DQ. Splatter is back, watch out! Stalker was expected to be his first match back (seeing as he suffered a grotesque injury against him) but he expressed no desire to be anywhere near Splatter let alone be in the same ring. Hoping for a miracle Terak sends the Creeper into battle. Things do not get very far as the Creeper sees Splatter’s Arsenal weapon and instinct takes over. Picking it up to attack Splatter but it gets knocked out of the hands. The ref shows a turn of speed to kick it away from the ring in case any bloody carnage occurs. Unarmed but still craziness from Splatter. Continuing the fight with the Creeper there is no holding back Splatter who goes through one of his mad spells as he beats everything that gets in the way. The referee, two security guys as well as the Creeper are sent spiralling and Splatter only stops when he sees Terak. The Savage Kingdom leader appears to be summoning some kind of enlarged animal on a whistle (he doesn’t, it’s just a ruse to stop Splatter). No sign of suspension calming Splatter’s style down though as there was no placating him until Terak’s clever move. Perhaps it’s over excitement at being able to return having been cooped up for so long.
Sam’s Squadron defeated the Zodiac. US. Patriot, with the help of Justice, turns it around against Mesmer to pin him. Not the greatest of matches ever. Most of the good stuff happened away from the ring as Ms. Liberty is in the front row watching. In an incredible move Dynamo has purchased a ticket and comes to sit right beside her. He puts an arm round her maybe trying to rekindle their partnership from the Awesome Studs days (rumour that both Vanity and Mr. Galaxy shared her in more ways than one back then). It’s a good job US. Patriot is too busy wrestling the match to notice. In a crowd pleasing moment she swats away the attentions of Dynamo saying she prefers brains over brawn and luckily her husband has both. When Dynamo refuses to take no for an answer she throws her soda drink in his face. The anger in Dynamo is building at the rejection but confronted by a baying crowd he backs off and calls her a frigid goody two shoes. Dynamo is certainly stepping up his activity trying pick fights with the likes of US. Patriot and Pegasus. Perhaps his grotty PR rep is back to giving him advice on how to keep himself in the GWF headlines and near the top of the card.
Heracles pinned Wildcat. Heracles is winless since ditching the Champions. After being sidelined by injury he hopes for a fresh new start. He continues to let slaves fuss over and still insists on being carried around but at least he has left the grapes behind after the previous calamity. Maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel for Heracles villain run after this. Although Wildcat misses wildly with WILDCAT STRIKE during a brief flurry he is largely overpowered by Heracles and repeatedly clattered with OLYMPIA. Heracles finally gets a win but sterner tests await. Can ill afford many more defeats or else Morpheus (maybe even Mandrill) might be holding his spot open on the villain MEGATOURNAMENT roster.
Stalker makes a triumphant return to singles action against Killer Queen. Maxine Babe choosing to keep a low profile and didn’t travel to Callisto. Queenie could of used the distraction from her ample assets as he was powerless to prevent Stalker running over him with CALL OF THE WILD.
Enigma beat Vertigo by DQ. Jet heeled stuff from both guys. Enigma should really of put things to bed much earlier but perhaps too much showboating. Vertigo gets a sniff when Enigma finally makes a mistake but perhaps in his eagerness to try and grab a surprising win goes over the top. When the ref tells him to calm down Vertigo shoves him aside. Gets a final warning but shortly after refuses to release a hold when Enigma had reached the ropes and it’s one indiscretion too many.
