BREAKING NEWS … Lord Nexus offers Pulsar a spot on the Titan team for TEAM SUPREME with ‘no strings attached’. What will Pulsar do? In other news Reynard B. Guile gets away without sustaining any serious injury against Mayhem. The airlift to hospital was just a precaution. After a check up there’s just some minor bruising. Reynard is pretty nervous Mayhem will be back after him and might keep a slightly lower profile for the rest of the month.
Card 763 – Brymstone Battle Dome: (Drama in the commentary booth. Johnny Rocket is sharing the spot with Terak and being a wind up merchant as usual with jokes about Mollock and the Creeper. Terak can take no more and starts beating on Johnny after hearing him bad mouth Hunter’s Moon during their match. He grabs Johnny’s ponytail and uses it whip him into a wall before getting up and leaving. Rather than leave the show Terak decides to head on down to ringside and assist his team. Johnny is furious. He recovers enough to continue his commentary but spends most of his time insulting Terak. His last words are that he will be sending Monad after Terak next week and challenges for the match over the air. It’s been a bumpy year for Rocket! There’s also carnage after the show finishes. During the main event Magnus Colby provokes disturbances in the crowd. It leads to a full scale riot and the Battle Dome suffers much damage with random fires started and seating damaged. It will be repaired at great cost but seeing as anarchy and disorder are the order of the day on Brymstone the incident is celebrated and seen as a good thing)
Tag champs, Centaurus Cluster, lost to Sam’s Squadron by DQ. Sam’s team putting their undefeated streak on the line to go for the belts. Sam knows it’s going to be tough against the champs who are also on a long winning run themselves. His main task at ringside will be to snuff out Colby and Pelf and make sure his Squadron gets a fair crack, “Archon and Crossfire are great guys and worthy champions but I don’t trust Colby and Pelf for a second. They need to ditch the CPC”. No comment from Centaurus Cluster in response to that but am sure deep down they agree. Despite the hostilities of the Brymstonian crowd Centaurus Cluster are putting it to the back of their minds and getting on with it. Archon is doing his usual impressive submission moves and at one point has US. Patriot in a painful hold that is almost twisting his arm off. Adam digs deep and fights back and later gets into a strong position against Crossfire. In fact Colby and Pelf look worried but then spring an idea. Colby knows how easy the crowd is to agitate and encourages them to start throwing things at the Squadron. Telling a couple of creatures stood in the front row that Commander Sam has been insulting their race. One shout from the crowd is heard “let’s get them” and starts hurling objects over the barriers and into the ring. Many others follow suit. Before any of the wrestlers and Sam can take any cover US. Patriot gets hit by a rock and drops to his knee. Unfortunately in line with rules the ref calls a DQ against Centaurus Cluster and everyone gets out the line of fire. Colby and Pelf had already hurried away to escape the aerial bombardment. They are happy the belts are protected and don’t care that they have started what could evolve into a riot. Archon apologises to Commander Sam straight after the match and promises he will contact Commissioner Grogan immediately to arrange a rematch.
Marcel de Sade pinned Thantos in a Titan Death match. Rematch from a couple of cards back. It was a humiliating outcome for Thantos and he has been impatiently waiting to put things right ever since. Marcel de Sade has actually been sending Thantos plenty of messages teasing him about it with what he calls ‘friendly banter’. Thantos hasn’t seen the funny side though. In fact word coming out the Champions team is that Thantos is pretty ticked off and hasn’t been talking too much to anyone. The guy (who wanted to remain anonymous) fears de Sade is now about to feel a backlash. Unfortunately for Thantos it’s more frustration. Marcel de Sade is once again wrestling out of his skin. Even when trapped in MASTERLOCK he finds a way out. Thantos is getting so angry he hurls de Sade outside the ring. Being a Titan Death match with little or no rules he plans to get hold of a chair and smash it over his head. Only problem is de Sade gets their first. Scrambles towards the ring announcer’s chair and forces him off. When Thantos reaches him de Sade turns and offloads it right over his head instead. Thantos goes down like a sack of spuds. Marcel limps over (still feeling the effects of MASTERLOCK) and bundles Thantos back into the ring and manages to pin him. What a result and where will this go from here?
Blazing Skull defeated Kati to keep the locals happy. Tense match. I rolled numerous times on Blazing Skull’s down-3 explosion as Kati was beating on him pretty good. So close to a fiery disaster as I got an 11 on one of them. I guess I’d be bummed to lose any guy to a lengthy or permanent injury but could of handled Kati (I always thought his stats were set too strong for a mere part timer and it wouldn’t of effected future storylines). Anyway Blazing Skull manages to absorb pretty much everything that Kati throws at him. Then gets out the way of a deathjump. Wastes no time in then going for BURNING TOUCH (his second of the match) and Kati is beaten. Following on from something Blazing Skull had seen Bishop Hell do on the last card at Brymstone he gets a petrol can and empties it around the ring. Then takes a lit match to ignites it and create a ring of fire (might have this become a signature action of the Lords of Fire next year). It’s quite a show and briefly traps Kati inside before some droids zoom down the runway to quickly extinguish it all.
Demons of Hydra (unmasked) beat Hunter’s Moon by DQ. The Demons haven’t been doing too much switching lately as referees get wise to their antics but it doesn’t stop Vyper and Wildcat making moves to prevent giving them any chances to try. Vyper gets on the mic beforehand calling them cheating cowards and challenging them to unmask for the match. Darkos is dead set against it but when Vyper looks as if he might be getting his snake out the bag Demon suddenly accepts and removes his mask. Hydra sees this and follows suit. For all the build up it’s a pretty uninspiring match devoid of much incident. Gets a little more interesting when halfway through Terak appears at ringside to help his team after a reported falling out with Johnny Rocket. Wildcat was surprised to see him as they thought Terak was on guest commentating duties. His presence doesn’t do much to shake things up and Terak couldn’t stop his team tumbling to a DQ loss. Vyper goes hardcore during a brawl with Demon. It was a missed opportunity for Hunter’s Moon as being able to wrestle the Demons without the masks is rare.
Darkos beats Pollux by DQ. As if Darkos hasn’t humiliated Pollux enough he signs a match with him by baiting him. Sent a public post on Flutter saying “after thinking about what I said I’d like to offer you a chance to earn your spot on our team. If you can beat me then I’ll consider it”. Darkos is a good actor but everyone can see it’s not sincere. There is no real u-turn but Pollux falls for it hook, line and sinker. Almost over in two moves as Darkos uses a spinning kick and goes to cover. Gets a bit shocked at Pollux kicking out. Continues beating on Pollux as much as possible. Actually a bit worried that Pollux is putting up a fight and he is going to have to think up an excuse should the unthinkable happen. Upon tossing Pollux out the ring he stands court inside the ring and turns to look out to the crowd for a reaction. Gets startled as Pollux suddenly grabs his legs from behind, pulls him out there too and slams Darkos into the floor. Bell goes and Pollux thinks he’s won by count-out but he is then announced as disqualified. No shock victory but maybe Pollux has won some friends across the galaxy tonight for showing some guts and determination.
Powerhouse brings Ursa Major’s hot streak to an end. It’s a commanding victory for Powerhouse. There is just too much disparity in size and power for Ursa Major to put up an effective fight.

Card 764 – NETWORK DEIMOS WRESTLING – Deimos Intergalactic Arena:
Heavyweight champ, Mayhem, bulldozes the Matador. Kooky behaviour in the Mayhem’s build up interview. Instead of his chain draped around the shoulders it is replaced with a stethoscope. When Qualitar asks him why he has got that Mayhem gives a menacing glare into the camera and shouts “to check that the Matador and Reynard B. Guile’s hearts are still beating when I’m finished with them. I’m going to beat them so bad that the medics better be on standby”. Funny to think Mayhem and Matador are expected to work together at TEAM SUPREME as part of the CPC A team at the next card. You’d think knowing Mayhem was baying for his blood would quieten down Reynard B. Guile. But no, Reynard is at ringside up to all his old tricks and nagging the ref at every opportunity. After a while he seems to grate on the Matador too. The Matador just stops listening to him after a few minutes. However Reynard’s value becomes very apparent. Mayhem shocks the Matador with some wild moves and completely flattens with LEAP OF DOOM (+6). Reynard created enough of commotion in the aftermath to prevent Matador getting pinned. Mayhem is quick to follow up with DANGER ZONE but the Matador gets a shoulder up just in time. He has a lifeline. It is almost expected that the Matador would now grab his second chance and grind victory out but it just doesn’t happen. Mayhem does have to fend off the Matador’s offence but for the most part keeps coming back with all the dangerous stuff. DANGER ZONE happens twice more. Matador still clinging on but when LEAP OF DOOM is attempted again it seems to be all over. If Mayhem hits there is no coming back. Only hope is to try and get out the way. Reynard screams at the Matador but he is just too hurt. Nothing was going to save him this time. It couldn’t of been a more perfect impact (+6 again) and Mayhem wins. He had certainly worked hard to retain the belt. Mayhem doesn’t make anything of the success. Instead making moves to get a hold of Reynard B. Guile for another beating but the snivelling manager was one step ahead of him and had run off whilst the ref was counting the pin. He knew it was over. Mayhem was frustrated and thought about continuing a beat down on the Matador who was still laying there. In the end he doesn’t go through with it as in the back of his mind could be that Magnus Colby and Sonora Pelf would take a dim view. Not that Mayhem ever really cares what others think but starting a war within the CPC when the Gladiators are primed to go to battle with the Hitmen might not be the cleverest of moves. Team Supreme Challenge, the Citadel overcome the Fighting Titans 6-1. Warm up match for TEAM SUPREME. Excitement for Pulsar joining up with his old Titan mates is high. Hoping he’ll come up against Chaos and keep the big man’s miserable run going. Of course Morpheus is confident for the Citadel despite his imminent departure. He desperately wants to sign off by winning the event and the Citadel boasts an excellent past record in the previous stagings. They were runners up last year in a close final. Unsurprisingly they win but the Titans ran them a lot closer than the scoreline suggests (Chaos overpowered Pulsar. Massive pop for Pulsar. He is wearing a Titan t-shirt to complete the look. For a moment it’s like he’s never been away but then a quick glance at his eye serves as a reminder to everyone. The romantic return is ruined as Chaos deals with the early aggression of Pulsar and stops him after a sixth BOW OF DEFEAT. Lord Nexus sees the positives of the match. He was encouraged by Pulsar’s efforts. It certainly wasn’t a walkover; Heracles defeated Ursa Major. The outcome didn’t tell the true story. Ursa Major was brilliant. Using his agility expertly to rattle Heracles. Several pin attempts after SHOTGUN CRADLE. The only reason Heracles got away with it was Ursa Major tried a running shoulder slam and an unfortunate bounce left the young Titan the worser off. Heracles used a Power Clamp and then OLYMPIA to steal a win. So Titans 5-1 down going into the last match but if Titan Fury can easily beat Superiority Complex they can still snatch a draw. Lord Nexus thinks they can do it; Superiority Complex beat Titan Fury by DQ. Lucky win for Superiority Complex. Skinhead gets creamed early by both Titans and needs evasive action from Prodigy to help him out after SUNSET SPECTACULAR. Then the ref doesn’t win any fans for calling DQ against Rising Sun. Nobody knew why but action replays suggested it might of been because Rising Sun had slammed Prodigy into the hard floor during an outside melee)
Ladies champ, Supernova, keeps belt after beating Amazonia by DQ. Intriguing meeting. Amazonia has battled hard to get herself back in contention. There’s respect between both of them but despite being on the same side of the hero-villain divide they are not exactly close. If anything Amazonia is a bit put out that Supernova has come along and stolen her thunder. Certainly she gives the more aggressive promos leading up. By contrast Supernova is a little more respectful. For example preferring to state how she thinks Amazonia is a great wrestler and that she wants to entertain the crowd by giving them a great match. Even on their ring entrances there’s a marked difference. Supernova is smiling, waving and blowing kisses at the fans. Totally loving life. Amazonia troops out with a face so serious that she doesn’t acknowledge any of the cheers. I guess if one of them had to be categorised as playing the heel for the match then it would be Amazonia although she’d be horrified to hear herself described as such. It’s not a classic. Really very little to separate them. Looks to be heading for a time limit draw (I was about 10 moves from pulling the plug) but then Amazonia lives up to her heel match labelling. Action goes outside where she smashes Supernova with her shield. Obviously feels bad for what she did and doesn’t like the fans being on her back. Very quick to apologise to Supernova and help her back onto to her feet
Titan Death match, Vengeance is superior to Wolf yet again. Wolf has been waiting for this. Ever since Vengeance attacked him and got suspended. His promos in the week leading up are great, vows to crush Vengeance’s skull with SAVAGE FACE CLAW as revenge. Vengeance isn’t worried and says Eye Cleaver will scar Wolf’s good eye and this time the other Gladiators will be present and watching the match. So nobody will be able to save him this time. Anyway sometimes there can be too much build up and talk for big matches. Sometimes it ends up overshadowing the match itself. Wolf refuses to do anymore interviews on the day of the bout. His actions inside the ring would now do the talking. In a match marred by violence (good job the Titan Death stipulation was added at the eleventh hour) Vengeance takes another win against Wolf. Looks in better shape having been able to train during suspension as opposed to Wolf doing far less because of injury. Takes two of them but HELTER SKELTER comes through again. He had wrestled very cunningly and manages to avoid ever being caught in the claw. There was plenty of hardcore grappling in and out the ring until Vengeance managed to finish it. Wolf ends up running amok post match. Even though he lost the match there was no way he was going to let Vengeance get off lightly. Recovered senses he rolls outside the ring and picks up a chair and makes it clear the minute Vengeance tries to leave the ring he will attack him with it. Even uses it to smash a table to bits as if to demonstrate what will happen. With Vengeance seemingly trapped the other Gladiators emerge from the curtain at the end of the runway ready to stop any attack happening. Wolf sees them and starts to back away from the ring. Trouble is to get out the situation he still needs to get past the Gladiators (unless he takes a path through the crowd). Using the chair held up in a striking position Wolf slowly moves past them. Making it obvious that if any one of them moves he will swing at them. Mayhem looks the likeliest to attack but Overkill seems to have a hold onto him. Instead they all watch him like hawks before Wolf disappears through the curtain and out of sight. Monad pins Terak after almost taking his head off. Heat from the last show between Terak and Johnny Rocket after they couldn’t play nice together in the commentators booth. It’s a mismatch given Terak’s age but fair play to him he keeps having a go. Monad is able to defend quite easily though as he pushes back with two arms whilst trying to rifle body shots with the other two. Johnny Rocket wants Monad to batter Terak beyond recognition. He distracts the referee and drops a bag behind him. Monad empties the contents and reveals two sets of brass knuckles. Weapons are dangerous in the wrong hands. When there are four of them to contend with the threat becomes worse. Several blows are landed in a windmill effects and then the knuckles are discarded. The ref missed it all. Poor Terak was done for. Somehow still standing but not knowing what time of day it was. Just for effect Monad charges him and dishes out DOUBLE CLOTHESLINE. Johnny stands over the beaten Terak at the end and speaks into his mic “I think we’ve made our point”. New Order crush the Henchmen in a quick match. Henchmen probably representing Colby and Pelf for the last time. It’s like the last meal on death row for Dreadnaught as he knows he will be without a partner in 2103 and by the looks of it no team either. Marcel de Sade is flowing with confidence and is definitely the more jovial of the two. A couple of wins over the legendary Thantos would do that to anyone. New Order manage to burst his bubble. Mace finishing him off pretty quickly with MACE’S LITTLE HELPER. He is not in a celebratory mood though. Although Mace is keeping a calmer head these days the news from earlier that Eagle is joining the team has not impressed him. Mace thinks Eagle is a weak addition that could drag them down. Lord Nexus beats Pharaoh Khety to increase the Brotherhood’s problems. Late change to the match. Originally booked as Dragonmaster-Khety but the addition of a TEAM SUPREME warm up match pitting the Citadel against the Titans meant Dragonmaster was unavailable. Fans not getting short changed though as Lord Nexus steps in and it’s always a popular sight. The Occult Overlord is back at ringside having gone missing for several cards. He is determined to show the Brotherhood is still a team and very much together. However the Overlord ends throwing a strop and striking the referee. Khety lost the match after being caught in an abdominal stretch and folding weakly. It’s what went before that made the Overlord irate. Khety had knocked over the ref for a short time and two covers after CURSE OF KHETY were missed. The Overlord got in the face of the ref with accusations that injury was feigned to make sure Khety didn’t win. He will be fined heavily for his actions.
The Mercenaries battered Eagle and Meteor. A squash match to warm the crowd. Lots of horseplay. The Mercenaries don’t want to finish this too early. Could of been over in a handful of moves but they want to put on a demonstration of authority. Eventually Soldier or Fortune ends the misery with THE REVENGER on Eagle. Afterwards Eagle tells Johnny Rocket he will realise a dream and officially join WAR next year. Johnny falls to the ground in stitches of laughter. When he eventually regains composure he jokes that the Rocketmen might try and sign Pollux up to feud with Eagle. Confidently suggesting Pollux would easily handle Eagle. Of course the jibe backfires as Pollux thinks this is a serious offer and starts trying to call Johnny morning, noon and night in the prevailing days. When there is no response he starts bombarding Johnny with online messages.

GWF REPORT (MEGATOURNAMENT 2102 CARDS 761 - 764)
Champions * GWF Galaxian Champ: Mayhem (Top Contender: Alpha Force) * GWF Tag Champs: Centaurus Cluster (Top Contenders: Sam’s Squadron) * GWF Interplanetary Champ: Enigma (Top Contender: Jack of Diamonds) * GWF Ladies Champ: Supernova (Top Contender: Anaxis) Latest News: Must start by saying this was one of the weirdest months I’ve ever had. Some of the results were totally bizarre. Marcel de Sade beating Thantos (twice) and Wolf. Reynard B. Guile getting a double DQ against Mayhem and using his finisher twice. Even Pollux managed to avoid losing his match by pin fall. Madness but I loved it!
Pulsar has a gigantic problem after he got himself blacklisted from the CPC team. After fraternising with the Titans and agreeing to represent them at the upcoming TEAM SUPREME event Sonora Pelf said “the CPC cannot condone a conflict of interests like that. It is a breach of contract. Pulsar must withdraw from the event”. Pulsar went to see his ‘employers’ at Pelf Palace but lost his cool when they would not reason with him and explained he would be unpaid for his recent work. Pulsar tried to grab Colby by the throat but fell through a trap door after Pelf pushed a panic button. It was like a scene out of a movie as Pulsar slid down a shoot and straight into a cell. He was then viciously beaten by some security guys before being thrown to the wolves (quite literally) outside the palace. Pulsar managed to just get away from these beasts and back to the sanctuary of his current home on Spica with some minor cuts and bruising. Injunctions were then taken out on Pulsar approaching the Palace for the next year which might be a problem if more GWF cards get scheduled there next year. Colby also immediately threw him off the independent roster and promoted Killer Queen. Not that it matters much for there is only 1 month left. However it raises big questions about the future of Pulsar. Without a team he might be forced back to the Fighting Titans in 2103 whether he likes it or not. With the likes of Bishop Hell lurking around it is very dangerous to be alone and without friends in the GWF.
More news involving the CPC is the confirmed retirement of the Collector. He’s not been much of a manager if truth be told and has been looking for a way out. He now walks away after a reported golden handshake from Colby and Pelf. I suppose he should be remembered as a success in his second managerial run having presided over Pulsar’s IP title reign in 2101.
One of the biggest talking points of the month was Reynard B. Guile holding Mayhem to a double DQ. Nobody saw that coming. Reynard was sneaky but ended up still taking a beating. Mayhem wanted another match inside a cage which nearly gave Reynard a coronary but Colby intervened. Said Reynard had done enough by Fluttering “don’t worry Reynard. You passed the test and proved yourself a worthy employee. Your job is safe for next year”.
Some cards coming from the Aethran War Dome. Always interesting when the GWF goes back there. The highlight will be a series of Mini Battlezone matches. So some decent final points on offer. Not that the Aethran crowd will be caring much for those matches unless the Gladiators are actually involved in them. The eyes of Aethra will mainly be on Mayhem as he is poised to defend the Heavyweight belt. Will be daunting for Thrash out there. Females face difficult lives in Aethran society and she has hardly been much of a success in the GWF so far. She must deliver when she faces Amazonia.
Loving unexpected feuds. Marcel de Sade posts a couple of shock wins over Thantos to kick start a spontaneous rivalry. Marcel has spoiled Thantos’s farewell tour and of course he hates that. Another match is coming and it will the LAST match ever for both of them. It is going to be a Barbed Wire Cage match. Sounds a bit extreme but that’s how angry Thantos is.
Johnny Rocket has had to change his mobile number and email address which has caused a lot of disruption. He even missed a money spinning appearance event because he never received an email with critical details on it. It all began after he jokingly said he was going to sign Pollux next year. Since then Johnny has been flooded with calls and messages left, right and centre. Johnny is trying his best but surely cannot avoid him forever. Will Pollux finally get the message? First Darkos, now Johnny. Pollux has a habit of latching onto people. Someone close to Johnny suggested he should step into the ring with Pollux like Darkos did to teach him a lesson. Only Johnny is not too keen. He isn’t 100% confident he’d actually win (which would be hugely embarrassing) and after being beaten up by Mace, Raven and Destructon 3000 in consecutive matches the other month had vowed never to get caught up wrestling a match again.
TEAM SUPREME line ups. CPC monopolise like they did the last one as they still have an A and B team. Will the same thing happen and the two teams get drawn against each other? Teams are as follows ... Heroes (Pegasus, Wolf, Sam’s Squadron) ... CPC A (Matador, Mayhem, Centaurus Cluster) ... CPC B ... (Vengeance, Mad Jester, Thunder and Overkill) ... Fighting Titans (Pulsar, Ursa Major, Titan Fury... The Citadel (Chaos, Heracles, Superiority Complex) ... Colonizers (Mandrill, Nefarus, the Watchmen) ... Genesis (Max Shield, Buck Steele, Genesis Prime) ... Savage Kingdom (Stalker, the Creeper, Hunter’s Moon)
INJURED – none; SUSPENDED – Splatter (1) WHOSE HOT ... Marcel de Sade, Alpha Force, Blazing Skull, Darkos, Mayhem, Powerhouse, Vengeance, New Order, Demons of Hydra WHOSE NOT ... Thantos, Matador, Ursa Major, Pulsar, Wolf, Terak, Kati, Henchmen, Hunter’s Moon
MEGATOURNAMENT STANDINGS: CPC 518, Omega’s Heroes 487, Morpheus’s Villains 366 (Although the Villain team have lost and Morpheus will take the fall it has long been suspected Mandrill has been acting as the organ grinder. With Morpheus gone and Chaos looking weak will he seek to control the villain team in 2103 or is this still a slow burn? It’s the final push for points. Battlezone matches are coming up. It’ll be a tall order but Omega is confident his team can do it. Pegasus breathes a sigh of relief that the Matador lost to Mayhem and failed to grab the belt. Gives him a slender hope in the MVP battle and the pair of them are scheduled to square off on #768 which is the final card of the year) MVP STANDINGS: SINGLES: Matador 103, Pegasus 88, Janus 68, Mandrill 62, Alpha Force 58, Mayhem 57, Raven 55, Chaos 54, Vengeance 47, Wolf 42, Bishop Hell 39, Colussus 37, Pulsar 32, Heracles 28, Max Shield 24, Monad 22, Holocaust 21, Mad Jester 20, Splatter 15, Enigma 15, Johnny Rocket 1 TAG TEAM: Thunder and Overkill 82, Mercenaries 75, New Order 41, Gamemasters 40, Sam’s Squadron 33, Superiority Complex 29, Centaurus Cluster 25, Titan Fury 24, Generation X 21, Henchmen 10, Flamboyance 4, Pillars of Power 2, Watchmen 2 WOMEN: Amazonia 46, Anaxis 24, Thrash 16, Cassandra 4
WRESTLER OF THE MONTH: Marcel de Sade - Never thought I would typing this guy’s name in here. Was just put up as fodder to fill a romantic run to retirement for Thantos. Marcel not only pins the old legend twice but even fits in a DQ win over Wolf in between. Quite simply incredible. TAG TEAM OF THE MONTH: Demons of Hydra - With the switch becoming less and less effective the Demons tossed their masks for a big match with Hunter’s Moon. Showed all their skills and that they don’t need to cheat to win on their way to a significant victory.

Card 765 – TEAM SUPREME – Albireo Temple:
(Event notes. Usual thing where due to the amount of matches it takes place over two days. On the opening day the first round matches take place. Then on the Sunday it’s the second round matches, then Supernova defends her title to give the finalists a rest period before they square off. No managers at ringside. Judges awarding up to 4 points per match. Additional rule in place that each team can name a captain. If the captain wins their match they earn an additional bonus point on top of anything the judges award them. The art of picking a captain is not an easy one and it adds an layer of tension for some teams as wrestlers bicker over who that honour should be bestowed on. Lord Nexus makes a bold tactical move by being the only manager to select a tag team to act as captains)
DRAW FOR FIRST ROUND (Team captains in bold)
Heroes (Pegasus, Wolf, Sam’s Squadron)-CPC B (Vengeance, Mad Jester, Thunder and Overkill) ... The Citadel (Chaos, Heracles, Superiority Complex)-Savage Kingdom (Stalker, the Creeper, Hunter’s Moon) ... Genesis (Max Shield, Buck Steele, Genesis Prime)-CPC A (Matador, Mayhem, Centaurus Cluster) ... Fighting Titans (Pulsar, Ursa Major, Titan Fury)-Colonizers (Mandrill, Nefarus, the Watchmen) ADDED ATTRACTION:
Ladies belt match, Supernova and Anaxis get destructive and slug out a double DQ. This belt has been a huge success story since it was introduced. There has been a huge interest in it. Supernova has arguably been the greatest champion in its short tenure. However this is a tough test as Anaxis gets the opportunity to regain the belt. Supernova makes sure she is well prepared and is definitely the more likely winner before things go chaotic. When SPEED OF LIGHT has a rare failure Supernova relies on some of her other cool moves but Anaxis is resilient if nothing else. Trying to keep things moving when Anaxis bails outside Supernova follows. It’s what Anaxis wanted as gives an opportunity to do something dastardly. Anaxis isn’t about to be stealthy, just grabs her bowl intending it as a weapon. Supernova sees this so she picks up a chair. They pause briefly armed with their respective weapons and then charge at each other swinging. Neither one comes off any better and the ref, who cannot believe the savage nature of this ladies match, gives up and gestures for the bell to bring this to a close before things get really out of control. FIRST ROUND:
CPC B upset the Heroes 7-5. Omega agrees with Commander Sam to put a combined team together so that Sam’s Squadron can get on the bill and also fill the gap left on the Champions team by the Gamemasters disbanding. In a strange occurrence Sam goes AWOL just before the event leaving Omega to babysit the team, “Struggling to understand where Sam is. He was so excited on the eve of combat. I’m sure there is a good reason for it” says a puzzled Omega. Unfortunately the Heroes slumps to a surprise defeat. The drama of Sam disappearing blamed as unsettling the team too much (Thunder and Overkill defeated Sam’s Squadron. Having dealt the Gladiators a couple of crushing losses recently Sam’s boys better be ready for a backlash. Understandably they are not best prepared. There is anxiety over where Commander Sam is but they need to get their minds off this and head into battle. You wouldn’t of known there were background problems as they go at the Gladiators guns blazing. There are two wild brawls that both could of easily ended with double disqualifications but the ref gives a lot of leeway. The first one came after US. Patriot delivered ADAM’S ATOMIC BLAST on Overkill. The second one was also triggered by a finisher, this time it was TURNBUCKLE TRAP against Adam. Things managed to end cleanly which was a surprise given what went before. Overkill got a hold of US. Patriot and drives him into the mat with Gladiator Piledriver. With earlier damage now taking its toll Adam could not fight off being pinned. Judges score this as a 3-1 margin; Pegasus blows Mad Jester away. Pegasus is a real speedy gonzales in finishing this off. Mad Jester gets a turnbuckle charge all wrong and then gets immediately beaten with PROJECT PEGASUS. Maximum points for Pegasus as it was so quick and one-sided; Vengeance beat Wolf. Fighting talk from Omega before this crucial final battle “if Vengeance thinks that he has a hold over Wolf after two consecutive victories he might be made to think again. No better time to put things right in a match of this magnitude”. However Wolf still seems to be showing signs of injury and falls at the feet of Vengeance again. HELTER SKELTER proving too much to handle. Suddenly things take a dramatic turn. In the biggest sign yet that the Hitmen are ready to feud with the Gladiators in 2103 they choose to make their mark at this event by attacking Vengeance. Shots are fired towards the rafters as the Mercenaries enter the ring. Vengeance is taken by surprise and floored by a clothesline. He is then held up by Vigilante whilst Soldier of Fortune smashes him repeatedly on the face with a rifle. Wolf shows no interest in helping. It is actually a surprise he doesn’t join in. Krakan is at ringside supervising and encouraging the attacks. Krakan’s job is also to keep watch for the Gladiators. When they appear Krakan shouts an order and in a well drilled escape plan the Hitmen dart off in different directions and evade conflict. Vengeance is a bleeding mess. A quick roll reveals a massive 10 card injury. There is uncertainty about whether Vengeance can participate in the next round or whether this would be a forfeit. The organisers take their time on the decision but announced the result stands and that the CPC can replace Vengeance if they need to in the next round)
The Citadel eliminates Savage Kingdom by a 6-1 scoreline. If Morpheus wants to go out with a bang and win this thing he needs his whole team pulling in the same direction but there is already trouble. During the promo he has to tell the team “calm down gents. I will decide” as they argue over who the team captain will be. The new rule has certainly set the cat amongst the pigeons. Heracles and Chaos both think they should be chosen. Chaos naturally thinks he is the top guy but his recent record hardly warrants it. Then Superiority Complex chime in with Skinhead asserting there is no reason why a tag team cannot perform the role. He’s got a point. It’s all very unclear by the end who got selected but later when the team sheets are handed in it is clear that Chaos had won the argument. Very difficult draw for Savage Kingdom. Terak’s team had enjoyed unexpected success about a year ago. As expected they couldn’t sustain it but Terak has still built a close knit team. That showed itself here. They were never going to upset the Citadel but didn’t make it easy and they exit the tournament with heads held high (Hunter’s Moon beat Superiority Complex by DQ. Tough match for Hunter’s Moon but they scrape a narrow win. Wildcat gets caught in no man’s land outside the ring. Looks very vulnerable. Skinhead should of just let his partner throw him back for more unrelenting punishment but instead takes matters into his own hands. By the time he got over to Wildcat it had allowed Vyper to react and get across. Instead of letting the ref deal with it Skinhead tries to ward him off by grabbing a drinks bottle from an unsuspecting fan at ringside. He smashes it against the barrier to create a dangerous weapon. Although he doesn’t actually use it the ref doesn’t buy his explanation that it was just for show to make Vyper back off and disqualified him. Morpheus will not be happy at points being given away cheaply. This would be a disaster if his team stumbles against the rank outsiders; Heracles makes sure there is no slip up against the Creeper. Pretty predictable as the Creeper is not really a match for Heracles. Takes two of them but OLYMPIA leaves the Citadel looking strong for the last match. Barring a disaster they should be going through; Chaos overcomes Stalker with BOW OF DEFEAT. It’s a total mismatch but Stalker gives it a decent go and Chaos takes a while to get this done)
CPC A edges past Genesis 4-3. Reports of a massive bust up in the CPC team. Something went on between the Matador and Mayhem. Colby and Pelf aren’t elaborating but the tell tale signs are there as the Matador wrestles his match sporting a black eye (Centaurus Cluster too good for Genesis Prime. The remarkable year continues for Archon and Crossfire with another one in the win column. Their teamwork is exceptional and although Vertigo does his best he can’t stave off defeat. CROSSFIRE finishes him off although the judges are probably a bit generous scoring this 4-0. It didn’t seem quite so straight forward as that but the final decision is theirs. Even Archon was a bit surprised when he heard the scores; Max Shield overcomes the Matador by DQ. Details are sketchy but the Matador looks like he’s already been in a fight tonight. Could explain why he isn’t at his best. Max, on the other hand, is in great form. The only blot is he didn’t get the pin that the performance deserved. It’s fair to say since winning OTB the Matador has been a downward spiral. He’s struggling to close out MEGATOURNAMENT. Hard to explain why as he’s not the sort to suffer nerves. It’s giving Pegasus a smidgen of hope and with a meeting scheduled for the final card of the year there could be something riding on it if this slump carries on. Anyway back to the match. Max is looking good and MAXIMUM IMPACT is not far off getting the pin. The Matador manages to keep himself alive but still fails to raise his game to the appropriate level. Even when he gets a decent bit of momentum he then stumbles against Max’s force field. To try and create a level ground he sparks a brawl but the ref sees what he’s up to and disqualifies him; Buck Steele wins against Mayhem by DQ. This could of been tasty had Genocide appeared. Mayhem would not of cared and will relished mixing it hardcore with him. Unfortunately for Mayhem, and the fans of course, it doesn’t happen. Mayhem gets himself disqualified before that can happen. He even misses with LEAP OF DOOM which might of triggered something. It just wasn’t to be. Mayhem carried on attacking Buck after the bell by repeatedly slamming his head into the apron trying to force the transformation. But the ringside officials aren’t quite as keen as everyone else to see Genocide. They call in over a dozen security guys to pull Mayhem off and literally carry the raging Gladiator down the runway. The other downside to the outcome is that Genesis lose the match overall. Despite two victories it isn’t enough to make up the difference from the first match)
Fighting Titans upset the Colonizers 3-2. The big coverage surrounds Pulsar joining the Titan team. It’s a hot topic but he keeps repeating it’s a one off and looks visibly irritated when he is asked numerous times during the build up if it means a return to the team full time but at least it’s a start. Lord Nexus flanks him during the pre-match interview looking pleased as punch. The mood changes a little when Pulsar angrily ends the interview as the question is asked yet again. Funny how things can change, one minute Pulsar is a hero but then gets given a hard time by some of the crowd when he comes out for his match. They’d seen the interview on the big video screen. Little did they all know we were about to witness a stunning upset (The Watchmen beat Titan Fury. Crushing loss for the Titans. If they were to stand a chance of progressing then this was probably the critical match up. Rising Sun was full of confidence beforehand and even said Pulsar had passed on some great tips to the team to help them become more aggressive. Looked like it had been taken on board when early in the match Dragonmaster reverses a pin attempt on his partner. Only a matter of time it seemed as the Titans build on this and the Watchmen have another close shave after DRAGON DROP on Tocsin. To the dismay of most of the watching galaxy the Watchmen don’t give in. Defensive tags and of course illegal tactics making life difficult. Nonetheless it still comes as a surprise when Tocsin pins Rising Sun after a Tocsin Crucifix. Highlights the common weakness we see from Rising Sun. One of the most exhilarating guys around with a potent offence but just not tough enough when the chips are down; Pulsar blinded Nefarus to win. The odds are now stacked against the Titans. Pulsar needs to absolutely pulverise Nefarus to give them a ‘fighting’ chance. He holds up his side of the bargain by at least winning but Nefarus doesn’t roll over and fights him hard. Ultimately Pulsar has to take the risk, and go against the wishes of Lord Nexus, by throwing ACID RAIN. The points situation is actually all even now at 2-2 but Ursa Major has somehow got to beat Mandrill in the last match; Ursa Major stuns Mandrill with a DQ win. Incredible from Ursa Major. Has countless pin attempts on Mandrill. Forces Mandrill to zap him with VOLTAIC STUNNER, which he was trying not to use, and he is caught red handed. Disaster for the Colonizers. Mandrill is so ticked that he tries to brutalise Ursa Major as the decision is announced but his fellow Titans make a daring rescue)
SECOND ROUND:
The Citadel surge into the final by beating CPC B by 7-2. Thunder and Overkill are raging over what went on earlier. The injuring of Vengeance is a real curveball for the CPC team to deal with. The Gladiators aim to make their current opponents pay for the Hitmen’s actions. Thunder rants “if we can’t get our hands on the Mercenaries we’ll just take it out on Superiority Complex”. Vengeance is replaced in the match by Holocaust who has to make a mad dash across the galaxy to make himself available (Heracles comprehensively beats Holocaust. Bad start for the CPC team as Heracles uses OLYMPIA to open an early 3 point margin. Holocaust only in as a late replacement. The badly injured Vengeance would probably of offered more of a fight. CPC dream of both teams meeting in the final already in jeopardy; Thunder and Overkill overcome Superiority Complex by DQ. Decent match that showcases the great battle between power and agility. Ultimately the Gladiators get the upper hand. Skinhead takes the brunt of things. Having already been struck by a THUNDERCLAP it gets worse for him as DECAPITATOR comes his way. Prodigy knows there is no way of surviving that but steams their ring anyway. It is better to lose by DQ and only drop a point. That isn’t lost on the Gladiators who were well ticked off by the intrusion and give Prodigy a real post match pasting to teach him a lesson. Soon becomes this was 2 points dropped instead of the expected 1 as Magnus Colby has switched the team captain role to the Gladiators minutes before the match; Chaos manhandles Mad Jester to take the Citadel into the final. Jester tries to unsettle Chaos with his crazed and unpredictable style. That worked for about a minute until Chaos took over. BOW OF DEFEAT as usual bringing about his victim’s demise)
CPC A march into the final after beating the Fighting Titans 8-4. The Titans upsetting the Colonizers in the previous round has got everyone talking. The odds are still against them but a glut of betting on the Titans shows the galaxy is behind them. Colby and Pelf are certainly nervous about things as it has already been shown that DQ losses can be damaging with expected wins turning into defeats. Will he be able to get the message across to Mayhem in the last and potentially deciding clash not to take any unnecessary risks? Maybe Mayhem did manage to keep a cool head as it does become the critical match and he ended up destroying Ursa Major without the action ever spilling outside (The Matador battles hard to beat Pulsar. What a turn up that Pulsar immediately goes against the CPC. Behind the scenes Magnus Colby had been trying to get Pulsar blocked from facing them but his efforts fall flat. His only hope now is that the Matador can quickly find his form again. Fortunately the Matador does but it’s not easy. Pulsar is very charged up and whistles pretty close to the wind in terms of his aggression. It is one of the rare times Pulsar knows he cannot outwrestle his opponent so has to take some risks. However the Matador is stubborn and waits for an opportune moment to deliver BULLWHIP. Pulsar surprises him by kicking out after the move but Matador just does it immediately again to make sure; Titan Fury overcome Centaurus Cluster. Titans in dazzling form as they defeat the champs. Crossfire got into some difficulty facing up against Rising Sun. In a breathtaking run of moves Rising Sun hits a moonsault press, a spectacular drop kick off the top rope and then a wristlock suplex. It all gets crowned with DAY OF THE DRAGON. This could be the final straw for Colby and Pelf. Centaurus Cluster may hold the belts but the refusal of Archon to offer Crossfire a defensive tag out or attempt a pin save due to his morals drives them nuts. Means they are now sweating on the final match. It’s poised at 4-4 and Mayhem is a hard guy to rely on. Will Colby be brave enough to tell Mayhem to curb his style and not take the match outside to minimise a DQ risk?; Mayhem easily pinned Ursa Major. The Titan dream finally comes to an end. Mayhem shows a modicum of control and works towards finishing Ursa Major off with DANGER ZONE. Sets up a mouth watering final the Citadel. The match possibilities this throws up are massive with Chaos guaranteed to face either the Matador or Mayhem)
FINAL:
The Citadel wins the tournament beating CPC A by a convincing 9-4. The two favourites come through to face each other. Despite internal bickering on both sides they are still too strong for the other teams to cope with. Morpheus is desperate to end his career with success. This was a memorable way to go out as his team doesn’t let him down (The Matador gives the CPC a crucial edge beating Chaos by DQ. Couldn’t be a bigger match to start this final off. Two of the most arrogant and influential wrestlers in GWF history. Not to mention all the success. Once close friends but now big enemies. Even if their team doesn’t win neither will care so long as they win this individual battle. It goes the way of the Matador after an incredible 4 star battle. The Matador knows all about Chaos, his phenomenal strengths but most importantly his weaknesses. According to him the best way to beat Chaos is hang in there. If the match goes on long enough that Alpha Stone will eventually fade and Chaos will get weaker. A very good tactic but trying to survive that long is often impossible and there is of course no guarantee that the Alpha Stone will lose its glow. This was one of those longer matches where it didn’t let Chaos down. So the Matador has to hang on despite some brutal punishment. He is crushed in BOW OF DEFEAT four times in total but never gives in. Either doing something to force a release such as raking the eyes or just holding out until Chaos gets frustrated and tries something else. Not that it’s all Chaos. The moments are more fleeting but Matador registers a couple of fatigue tokens against Chaos himself. At one point getting out the way of a top rope move which Chaos nearly paid for missing. The key to the Matador’s win in the end was preying on the frustration of Chaos. He had just hit Chaos with a Matador Death Run and the big man ended up outside because of it. With red mist descending Chaos grabs the Matador’s legs and yanks him out there with him. In one swift move the Matador is pulled forcefully straight towards the ring steps and collides face first with them. Chaos goes to pick the Matador up when he hears the bell go behind him. He instantly forgets the Matador and angrily confronts the ref and picks the poor chap up by the throat. Such actions were never going to get him anywhere other than into a disciplinary hearing. Chaos releases the young man from a great height and angrily stomps off. He points at the now recovered Matador and says “you’ve won this battle by luck and corruption but you’ll never be as powerful as me”; Heracles overcomes Mayhem in a much shorter the match than the last one. There is no shortage of incident though. Mayhem connects very early with LEAP OF DOOM (+4) which Heracles does amazing to kick out from. Not only that but within moments he turns it around doing something few guys rarely ever do and that is win an out of ring brawl against Mayhem. Then lines up and barges Mayhem with OLYMPIA. First time almost brings the pin but a second makes it a certainty. Makes things very interesting. Scoring set at 5-4 in favour of the Citadel; Superiority Complex overcome Centaurus Cluster easily to win TEAM SUPREME for Morpheus. The Citadel might of been in the driving seat but the Superiority Complex had not contributed any points in the previous rounds. They were under severe pressure to deliver. Finally they did. Crossfire took it to Prodigy straight away but got thrown down from the turnbuckle. Then he was on the end of THE PERFECT TAG FINISHER. Archon defiantly remained on the apron. Even the carrot of glory would not make him sway. Crossfire is pinned by Skinhead and the match is over in a little over a minute. Morpheus is in the viewing gallery clapping with zest. He goes out as a winner. A camera pans a few metres to the right and catches sight of Magnus Colby and Sonora Pelf sitting with faces like thunder. Could be a tough few weeks for Centaurus Cluster coming. Even though they are champs it looks as if the CPC wants to cut them loose and get them sent back to CCF. Things not any easier next week as the next stop is Aethra. They are extremely unpopular there as Aethrans despise any team holding the tag belts over Thunder and Overkill)

Card 766 – Aethran War Dome: (In the battle between Johnny Rocket and Qualitar for media supremacy Johnny gets one over his rival here. Let’s Qualitar run with the interviews but stitches him up. Poor Qualitar gets Thrash first. When he mentions her patchy form she attacks him by smashing him backwards into a wall. Qualitar just about recovers when it’s off to do his second segment. This time with Murderer’s Row and they are totally off the wall. They are drinking bleach from a bottle passed between them. Cannibal then empties the remainder over poor Qualitar’s head. Poor Qualitar has to be treated immediately and Johnny Rocket steps in for the commentary gig at short notice. Not quite sure how the likes of Cannibal, Drac, Mutant and Death’s Head are showing no ill effects)
Tag champs, Centaurus Cluster, wins a topsy turvy battle with Sam’s Squadron. The Squadron remaining as the top contenders. Commissioner Grogan agreed they hadn’t received a fair shot last time and pressurised the GWF championship committee to give them another shot. But he says this their last chance. Even if they win by DQ or count-out they must step aside for new challengers. So lots of pressure on Sam’s boys to deliver. Sam is acting a bit cranky these days (maybe it’s an age thing) and slams that ultimatum. He believes managers causing DQ outcomes to protect belts are no fault of the challengers and they should always stay in the top contender spot. Also asserts that Grogan should of made this a special match or at very least banned Colby and Pelf from ringside. Of which Grogan has done neither. The presence of Colby and Pelf quickly becomes a non issue as they fail to show up. Centaurus Cluster has outlived it’s usefulness and they no longer care if they win or lose. As it happens the Centaurus Cluster copes just fine without their meddling. Crossfire resists an uncomfortable start as he has to survive SHOCK PROBATION (+3) and also FREEDOM FLYER very early. No pin saves to help him out either. After that initial flurry the champs then get a foothold in the match and there is plenty of back and forth action. US. Patriot has to dig in as he struggles against Archon’s submission style and also gets BOW AND ARROW fired off against him. He’s not to going to give up on the chance to win the belts that easily and surges back. A series of dramatic death jumps puts him right on top of Archon but then there is a drama as the referee gets caught in the path of one of them and goes down. Adam is horrified and tries to revive the referee. Archon is groggy and doesn’t realise what is happening. All he sees is Adam in front of him and makes an instinctive move to roll him up into a small package. The recovering ref slides in to count it and Adam only just bursts out but Archon is straight back on him. CROSS KNEE RACK is applied and it yields the submission. Centaurus Cluster keep hold of the belts but only just. Archon is not entirely satisfied when he sees an action replay of the match later in the night. Never wants to win by any unfair advantage. Offers to wrestle a rematch for the titles on the very next show. Due to scheduling it has to wait til #768 but Commisioner Grogan has a sudden change of heart and agrees to the suggestion and contacts the promoter to get the match up booked in.
The Villain team look good as they beat the CPC in a mini Battlezone match. It’s watered down with the match comprising a total of 6 men. Janus stars for the villains. Maybe he has been underused by a Morpheus in MEGATOURNAMENT overall as he has been a consistent points scorer when called upon. (Chaos slaughters the Matador. They meet for the second show running and Chaos gets immediate revenge by absolutely crushing the Matador in just a few moves. Looks like the Matador took a lot of damage resisting BOW OF DEFEAT so many times at TEAM SUPREME that his ribs were still tender. He needed more time to recover. It meant when he found himself in the crushing hug again he was powerless to hold out; Holocaust eliminates Chaos. Chaos finds Holocaust a much tougher proposition and not for the first time in his career loses to him. SHOCKWAVE (+5) on top of the two fatigue tokens Chaos was already carrying brought an end to his participation in the Battlezone match; Janus beat Holocaust by DQ. Cheap loss for Holocaust who goes from hero to zero and hands initiative back to the villain team; Janus wins it for the villains with a man spare after beating Mayhem. Almost done in two moves as Janus uses GORDION KNOT. Mayhem just about escapes and spends the next few minutes under a lot of bombardment. Seems to weather it and comes back strong hitting a Gladiator Piledriver numerous times. Then out of nowhere Janus counters an attempt to put him in a backbreaker and first off a savatte kick. The move stuns Mayhem and Janus quickly pins him. Victory for the villains with Bishop Hell not seeing any action) The Watchmen too in sync for Jack of Diamonds and Alpha Force to trouble them. Jack has been benefitting from the experience of working closely with some of Omega’s guys. Now to put some of his new skills to the test in the ring. Exo-King is at ringside instead of Omega as part of what he hopes is a smooth transition to management. He is powerless to stop them slumping to defeat. Alpha Force starts very fast and gets in ALPHA STRIKE on Painmaster a couple times. Lots of early encouragement but Jack wilts under double teaming pressure from the Watchmen. Can’t get out the ring and a concoction of Double Team Mallet, THE TORTURE RACK and Painmaster Anesthetic lead into the pin fall.
Thrash finally beats Amazonia in a Titan Death match. There is a huge amount of pressure on Thrash here on Aethra. There is no doubting she is tough and could give many men a run for their money in the ring but something has just gone wrong in her GWF career. Amazonia has completely owned her and Thrash has lost more than she has won. In fact only Cassandra and Maxine Babe are ranked below her. Her only saving grace has been the service to Thunder and Overkill as their bodyguard. Always prepared to put her body on the line. However it isn’t enough for most Aethrans. They won’t tolerate losing to weaker races. Perhaps the pressure inspires her as she finally manages to beat Amazonia. Nobody is selling each other’s finishers in this contest. Amazonia is shocked when AMAZON ATTACK is tried twice to no avail. Thrash comes back with her finisher twice and sees Amazonia cling on. It is several minutes before anyone goes for a finisher again and it’s Thrash with FEMME FATAL. Third time’s a charm as Amazonia is done for. Approval from the crowd as the traditional sound of metal against metal permeates through the War Dome.
Colussus totally in control against Killer Queen. Queenie in his one and only match as part of the MEGATOURNAMENT independent roster. Mad Jester was not happy with Queenie joining up and actually had to be held back from attacking him during a team meeting. Some background noise to this is the CPC having successfully navigated the minefield of being banished from the GWF are preparing the shrink the team next year. Colby and Pelf are preferring to oversee a leaner roster of dominant wrestlers. Jester despite winning the Hardcore OTB is on shaky ground having failed to capture the IP belt. Unpredictable outbursts like this are not going to help him and he is in real danger of being dropped. Anyway back to the match and it’s all very predictable. Colussus far too much in the locker for Queenie. Steadily building offence until the moment is right and then nailing CYBORG DEATHBLOW.
Savage Kingdom dominate Murderer’s Row 7-0 in a Team Supreme Challenge match. Cannibal’s team didn’t make the grade for TEAM SUPREME but that doesn’t stop Cannibal organising this match. Probably shouldn’t of bothered as his team is swept aside. (Hunter’s Moon easily best Death’s Head and Cycle Hog. Wildcat knocked Cycle Hog out the ring and seized the moment to unleash WILDCAT STRIKE; Stalker beat Draconian Sheik by DQ. No surprise in the outcome. This time Drac starts stabbing Stalker with a fork in the head drawing blood; The Creeper beat Mutant after ELIMINATOR. Result was academic but by the Creeper winning it completes a satisfying sweep for the Savage Kingdom. Most drama happens after it is finished. Some bright lights go off within the crowd and Mutant loses control and runs screaming into the Aethran masses. Panic stations when it cannot be found. Cannibal shows a surprise side when he pleads for his beloved pet to be returned home safe and unharmed. He is petrified for what might happen to it on Aethra.

Card 767 – Aethran War Dome: (THE GAUNTLET TALK SHOW … SPEAKING TO RAM … Not one of Qualitar’s greatest moments as the Aethran crowd has no time for such things as talk shows. They stomp through the entire segment. However it becomes memorable and by the end even the crowd has quietened somewhat to listen to what is going on. Ram starts off the interview by complaining about his treatment in the CPC before moving onto bad mouthing Wolf and Mandrill and calling them a disgrace to the Animan race. Suddenly Mandrill flanked by the Watchmen comes onto the set. He gestures wildly to Ram and then calls him a coward for not joining the Colonizer crusade. They go nose to nose before Mandrill challenges Ram to a Slave match. The loser would become a slave to the victor for a period of two years. In the heat of the moment Ram doesn’t want to chicken out and agrees. Mandrill instantly whips out a contract and it gets signed there and then. Without a manager there to guide him Ram may of got himself into something too deep. In a Titan Death match Ram will be very vulnerable against someone like Mandrill who will be free to use VOLTAIC STUNNER without being disqualified. Mandrill looks incredibly pleased with himself as he comes away from the stage. He had made some cryptic comments about Ram months ago suggesting he could release him from his torment within the CPC. Not much of a release going from being an object of ridicule to becoming a slave to the Colonizers. Of course it could all go wrong and Mandrill loses the match but somehow that seems very unlikely. Mandrill and the Colonizers will be making sure that doesn’t happen. There is some slight sympathy for Ram from some of his old fans. Many don’t think he’s bad deep down but has got in with too many bad crowds over the last few years. There are fears for his future and also his mental state) Interplanetary champ, Enigma, sees off the challenge of Jack of Diamonds. Interesting how the Aethran crowd reacts to Enigma. He and Darkos expected greater respect as he was a champion but Aethrans favour power guys and have little time for small guys that fly around the ring. Many of them have already left the War Dome having already seen the Gladiators in action ready to continue with their dutiful tasks. Probably doesn’t help that Vengeance could and perhaps should of been named #1 contender but found himself thrust into the earlier MEGATOURNAMENT driven Battlezone match instead (only to then pull out with injury). Although Thunder and Overkill are the tag MVPs and both Mayhem and Vengeance have fared well it is fair to say this competition is not high on the list of priorities for the Gladiators and working with outsiders is not something they embrace. Anyway as so often happens I am wittering about stuff irrelevant to the match at hand. Turns out to be a good one. Enigma fights tooth and nail to keep hold of the belt swooping at Jack with impressive aerial attacks. Jack isn’t going to roll over and fights back hard. The crunch moment is when Jack is hit with a flying cannonball which sends him sprawling outside the ring. Enigma is so dangerous in these scenarios and uses the opportunity to strike with FEET OF FURY. Exo-King maybe could of done something at this point but doesn’t want to risk a DQ and blow his son’s chance of winning the belt. Alas, he is asking too much for Jack to come back from that. Jack appears destined not to capture this belt after another failure but is not giving up and sets himself a target of next year to finally win it.
CPC crushes the Heroes in another mini Battlezone. The Matador is in unbelievable form winning all three of his matches and steering the CPC to glory in MEGATOURNAMENT. They have also taken both the singles and tag MVP awards. (The Matador is superior to Wolf in the opening bout. BULLWHIP adds another victim to its long, long list. This has been probably the most difficult time in Wolf’s legendary career. I don’t recall him losing quite so many matches as he has done this year. Vengeance has totally dominated their feud. Massive match next as Matador faces Pegasus. It is a must win match for Pegasus; The Matador gets the better of Pegasus by DQ. Pegasus guilty of trying to force the issue. He is trying to wrestle like it’s a Titan Death match and gets his fingers burned. Would have to check the figures but I think that’s mathematically it on the MVP race and the Matador takes the big prize. Was a good effort by Pegasus having, at one point, been so far back but eventually running it close; The Matador sees off Alpha Force with BULLWHIP. Been a solid run from the Matador, he is drenched in sweat having fought so hard and fully deserves to be the MEGATOURNAMENT MVP. After this sweeping victory he has also secured the team trophy for the CPC and proven his worth as Colby and Pelf’s top investment. For what it’s worth the two wrestlers that never got called upon in the match were Holocaust and Mayhem)
Sam’s Squadron beat Thunder and Overkill in a bloody DQ battle. Slow signs that the Gladiators are cranking back into gear as they smell the feud against the Hitmen coming. They’ve lacked a lot of motivation in 2102 and perhaps had a lacking appetite for battle. This might explain some of the results. Of course there is no lack of motivation here. Winning inside the Aethran War Dome means everything to a Gladiator. More so than winning any kind of belt. Any defeats suffered are considered to be humiliations. Some Gladiators in the past are rumoured to have approached senior ministers (like Thakur) after losses and insisted they are punished publicly for their failures. Spike once reported to of taken ten lashes inside the War Dome of his own accord for failing to win a match the previous day. Their opponents are Sam’s Squadron again. The Gladiators won the last meeting but have suffered some losses to Sam’s team and don’t feel they’ve fully redressed the balance. The Squadron could do with grabbing a win to keep their ranking high should their run at the belts fail. Match is an absolute epic. There were so many twists and turns plus finishing attempts I pretty much lost track of everything that happened. All I know is were enough tokens to make a 4.5 star match without having to add stars for things like feud prestige or titles being on the line. It’s just a shame it had to end on a DQ but that doesn’t detract from how exciting it was. Thrash in trying to follow up from her win against Amazonia on the last show wants to make a telling contribution here. She certainly does that by attacking US. Patriot when he slides outside. The brave ref calls the DQ despite Thrash arguing she was trying to help Adam back into the ring (although rather roughly and not sure strangling can be defined as helping). The Aethran crowd makes sure to make their anger known to the official. This was so good I might try and get a follow up match booked soon if a slot comes up.
Destructon 3000 annihilated Splatter. Of all the places to teach Splatter a lesson Destructon 3000 chose Aethra. It is a difficult place to be for both of them as the Hitmen are fast becoming Aethran enemies. Of course Splatter fears nothing and is itching to get stuck in. Long suspensions always make him twitchy and Krakan has a job controlling Splatter. There is relief that all the aggression can now be vented. Destructon 3000 needs to be wary even though he possesses incredible power. The shock defeat to Monad is still in recent memory although Destructon 3000 blamed a system bug for that and after receiving a firmware upgrade says “that can’t happen again now”. Krakan feels the hostility in Aethra and keeps away. Splatter matches Destructon 3000 blow for blow initially. That lasts for about a minute. Then Destructon 3000 just gets a hold of him and throws him effortlessly out of the ring. The collision with the barriers for Splatter is immense. Destructon 3000 stands in the middle of the ring to see if that will yield a count-out. Splatter just about picks himself up and clambers back into the ring but he doesn’t really know where he is. Wanders right into VULCANIZER and is pinned on the spot. Not too many words from Destructon 3000 who has never liked being on Aethra and just wants to get away, “I hope Splatter has learned not to attack WAR wrestlers again after that. If he does I will not hesitate to step back into the ring again”.
Vanity defeated Exo-King. Entertaining match which goes the way of Vanity. Exo-King is his own worst enemy as twice missing CORONATION CEREMONY. The second one was fatal as it led into Vanity using LADIES CHOICE to win. The old ‘King of the Ring’ has lost his sparkle. “Maybe time to retire, take a step back and concentrate on helping my son” says the King. LAST EVER MATCH FOR TWO GWF LEGENDS
Thantos beats Marcel de Sade in a Barbed Wire Cage match. What a way to start the card. This has been unbelievable. Marcel de Sade has been a constant thorn in the side of Thantos beating him twice last month. It’s yet another rematch. Marcel de Sade is happy to oblige. The feud has thrust him up the card and with his retirement also imminent is enjoying being in the spotlight one last time. Thantos just about gets over the line against his old mate. Marcel de Sade was completely dominant (again) until Thantos managed to throw him into the sides and take over. Even then he finds de Sade impossible to finish off easily even when he slaps on MASTERLOCK twice. Takes another vicious ram into the barbed sides to finally finish him. A bloody Thantos helps de Sade to his feet afterwards and the two men share a very brief but respectful embrace. Not that it matters but Marcel de Sade’s injuries as a result of this are a fortnight (2 cards).

***BREAKING NEWS***
After a delay Commissioner Grogan makes a disciplinary decision against the Hitmen for their attack on Vengeance. The big news is ... there is no news! No punishment against the Hitmen. Given the severity of the attack and the big stage on which it happened it comes as a massive surprise. There is a rumour going around that Thakur himself got in contact with Grogan to suggest the Hitmen are not suspended so that the Gladiators can get their hands on them quicker.
Mutant still missing. Worry floods the GWF that it has been murdered on Aethra. Of all the crowds it could of run into that was the worst. Cannibal keeps the hunt going. Missing pet posters go up most of the regular GWF venues.
Card 768 – Venus Space Station Complex: (As a close out to the show Morpheus receives a farewell in the ring conducted by Johnny Rocket. Even a few past rivals come out on the runway to watch on but keep their distance. Omega and Commander Sam are among them. Apparently they aren’t talking much but this segment proves to be an ice breaker and they share some words. Johnny proclaims Morpheus as the greatest manager in the history of the GWF. Certainly there is some truth to that. The Citadel enjoyed incredible success and largely dominated against Omega’s team since Morpheus arrived in 2097. It was only once we reached MEGATOURNAMENT that things unravelled. The segment finishes with highlights from the career played out on the massive video screen on the wall. Even a snippet from the dawn of the fed is shown with Morpheus beating Omega in a tournament final. Seeing that brings about the briefest of smiles to his face)
Heavyweight champ, Mayhem, loses by DQ to Alpha Force. Booking can be a struggle (I blame myself). Mayhem should of been defending this belt on Aethra but had to yield to a Battlezone match instead. Not what the Aethrans wanted to see. Although of all the Gladiators over GWF history it’s clear Mayhem carries the least favour (that as much will become clear in the press conferences to start the new year). His opponent is Alpha Force who has done well to earn a shot at the belt. Alpha Force has gone under the radar a little but this year he triumphed in the GALACTICON main event and recently beat his old nemesis Chaos. He has achieved some great things. A very even match ends in Mayhem being disqualified for going crazy during an out of ring brawl. Although some might question that he is quite happy to lose matches in this way as it keeps the belt in his grasp, the reality is Mayhem is so out of control sometimes that he cannot help himself. The booking process surrounding Mayhem and title matches might need to come under more examination. More special match stipulations to provide an outright winner.
Tag champs, Centaurus Cluster, finally vanquish Sam’s Squadron. Rematch. Not often a champ makes two defences in the same month but Archon insisted after his team benefitted from a hurt referee in the previous meeting. This time they see off the Squadron without any incidents. Justice initially suffers under the relentless holds of Archon and enthusiasm of Crossfire. Seems to of ridden it out and US. Patriot turns it round to lead the team to the cusp of victory. Tags in Justice to finish things off with his more potent finisher against Crossfire. However Justice delays going for the kill. Not quite sure where his mind is at as he goes to the top rope. Proves a fatal error as Crossfire gets out the way of Justice’s attempted flying elbow. It’s a jarring impact and Crossfire makes a quick and hopeful cover. He looks as surprised as anybody when it proves successful.
The Villain team overcomes the Hero team in a mini Battlezone. Omega doesn’t agree that his team is weakened with Pegasus and Alpha Force being absent from the line up. Has great faith in the guys that are left. Unfortunately they just come up short as Chaos overpowers Max in the decider. (Raven in outstanding form against Heracles. Never gave Heracles a minutes peace. BLADERUNNER and BROADSWORD twice pays testament to that although it’s a WAR Gun that finishes Heracles. After a difficult year punctuated by injuries and team problems Raven looks as if he is ready to put his name back up there in lights; Mandrill beats Raven by DQ. Much tougher match for Raven. Both end up brawling but Raven takes the hit. Omega later describes the referee’s decision as bonkers; Mandrill dominates Wolf after MUTANT MAULER three times and then getting away with VOLTAIC STUNNER. Yet another loss for Wolf. He needs a new challenge to reignite that spark; Max Shield goes over arch enemy Mandrill by DQ to take it to the decider; Chaos leads the villain team to victory over Max Shield. Poor Max takes BOW OF DEFEAT an incredible six times. The move isn’t what beats him either. That happens when Chaos throws him through the ropes and Max actually gets counted out. Big statement from Chaos who is slowly getting that air of invincibility about him again)
The Matador beats Pegasus to put the seal on their battle. This match was booked in a few months ago as it was felt it could be a decider for the MEGATOURNAMENT MVP but some incredible form from the Matador has put that to bed. Nonetheless the match still has huge ranking implications. Even though no trophies have been awarded yet Reynard B. Guile brings a replica to brag with. Also a clever way of having a weapon handy that won’t get confiscated. Luckily it never made it into play. Pegasus completely dominates the match but then goes to the top rope and loses an agility grapple. Ends with being suplexed into that ring. The wind knocked out of him he really struggles to get to his feet. The Matador sets his position and delivers a dropkick and then BULLWHIP to take the win.
Mad Jester viciously wounds Jack of Diamonds in a Titan Death match. This feud is well set up for next year after this. Jack approaches the ring but there is no Jester to face him. Instead a large jack in the box is winched from the rafters. It’s is assumed Jester is inside ready to pop out and attack. Turns out to be a massive red herring. As the crank winds itself and then eventually clicks a huge spring with nothing on it pops out. Strobe lighting then floods the complex and from the outside can see Mad Jester crawling out from under the ring and coming up (almost as if in slow motion) behind Jack who is still looking at the box. Jester has his now infamous barbed rattle and strikes Jack from behind. Normal lighting is restored but Jester keeps attacking. Blood spews from a wound on Jack’s neck but somehow he manages to get to the outside and get hold of a chair and start blocking some blows. Exo-King, who isn’t supposed to be at ringside, isn’t about to stand back. He runs from the back and throws Jack his sceptre. Jack swings and knocks the rattle loose. A match can now be had but it soon becomes very clear that the early wounding of Jack is taking his toll. Blood is pouring and he is getting weaker by the minute. He urgently needs some medical treatment. Mad Jester puts him out his misery with A DEAD MAN’S VERSE. Jester tries to keep Jack trapped in the ring and any help out but Exo-King picks up the sceptre and manages to clear Jester out. Flamboyance get a win over the Demons of Hydra by DQ. Frustrating for the Demons that they cannot beat Flamboyance. Not for want of trying. Aside from Vanity surprising Hydra with LADIES CHOICE in the first couple minutes the Demons are on top. Only Maxine Babe’s distracting assets saves Vanity after THE FINAL ORACLE. It was probably this moment that led to Demon getting disqualified. His agitation led to him starting a brawl for which he got punished.

‘STARS OF THE GALAXY - VOLUME 7’ released.
(This popular release went online just in time for Christmas and featured its usual array of never been seen before matches and special segments featuring the GWF roster ... Opens up with a BBQ on the beautiful shores of Mimas, Saturn. Many hero wrestlers are in attendance and sharing the evening with some lucky contest winners. A chance to meet and dine with the stars. Really shows the light hearted side of the wrestlers. Massif took on Wraith in a burger eating contest which he won by a mere mouthful. Vertigo showed his speed on the dance floor and put everyone else to shame. The most memorable part of the evening caught a glimpse of Wolf and Amazonia walking along the shoreline. With no lights on them they thought their little walk holding hands had gone unnoticed. However as the many moons of Saturn reflected off the glistening water they were spotted sharing a kiss. Wolf went crimson when he returned to the party and realised what everyone had seen ... Next up Reynard B. Guile gets set up on a blind date. A hidden camera within a menu captures many moments. The young lady involved, Cassie, was in on the sketch. Reynard thought she had been matched with him after signing up to spacedates.com to find a partner. In a cringeworthy five minutes he constantly refers to the poor women as Amazonia and brags endlessly about his position of power in the CPC. When the bill comes he is seen slyly pointing to the waiter to place it in front of Cassie. Thinking that he has charmed her Reynard leans in for a kiss as they finish dessert. The final scene is Reynard with his eyes closed and lips puckered up. Seconds later Cassie plants a bowl of trifle over his head and the camera feed cuts out ... AFW highlights next. Word is that Terminus is about to join the GWF. This little montage more or less confirms it. The execs of the fed want to make a big thing of it and arrange for a reel of action to go out on this release. Big moments from his highly successful career are shown to whet the appetites. Question is, where will Terminus fit into the roster? Will he sign with anyone or go it alone? There will not be any shortage of takers ... Final feature follows Qualitar as he takes viewers for a little rundown of what goes into the staging of a conventional show. Some of the guys behind the scenes without whom none of what the fans see would be possible. From the setup and construction of the ring to the incredible IT helping to beam pictures across the cosmos it’s all explained in basic terms. Qualitar ends by saying how much he loves his job as the main reporter and commentator of the fed. The only bit he doesn’t like is ... “well, see for yourselves” and Qualitar takes a seat next to Johnny Rocket ready to host the latest show)
The Hitmen (Splatter and the Mercenaries) easily defeat the CPC (Mad Jester and Centaurus Cluster). Although the falling out between Krakan and the CPC is being put on the back burner as both parties pursue other things in 2103 it would of been scandalous to of not got at least something out of it. A 3 man tag match happens between the Hitman and some of Colby’s prize assets. Vigilante lays down the law in his own inimitable style. Before many of them even get a chance to have a turn in the ring he has taken Crossfire out with Hit Man’s Clothesline to win it. Days after the end of this match the CPC quietly sacked both Mad Jester and Centaurus Cluster and they became free agents. This defeat probably didn’t help their chances of saving themselves.
The Matador beat Pulsar by DQ after getting a face full. More CPC drama. This match happened shortly after the Pelf Palace incident (even before they squared off at TEAM SUPREME). Pulsar was never going to get away unscathed from all that drama. Sonora Pelf wanted the Matador to punish Pulsar inside the ring for trying to attack her husband. As the Matador was being paid big bucks to do the job for them he was more than happy to oblige even though he is not too keen to risk getting acid in the face (aims to use Reynard B. Guile as a shield if he feels threatened). By the same token Pulsar was also keen to take the match as he knows what a huge scalp the Matador could be. Makes a real go of it and shows he can mix it on the technical side. But what the crowd really wants to see is ACID RAIN. Pulsar obliges but there’s no stealth about it. The ref saw everything. At least it left the Matador in a bad way. In his blinded state he stumbles into and then falls right across the announcer’s table bringing lots of enjoyment to the crowd.
Mesmer defeated Ram. End of the year is crunch time for Ram. Unseen til now but Ram made this match a shop window for somebody to make an approach to him for 2103. His mobile number goes up on the big screen in the stadium with ‘anybody need a wrestler next year please call below’. Feeling undervalued in the CPC (who wouldn’t, he was seen serving tea and biscuits during a crucial team meeting this year) it is time in his mind to move again. Is it a good idea though? The grass is not always greener on the other side. Match is a disaster for Ram. Cannot take his opportunities to win as he twice misses RAM CHARGE. Second time is fateful. Mesmer gets on top and with a mind as weak as Ram’s EVIL EYE is an easy finish. Post match drama as Splatter looks for a Christmas lottery victim. Gets halfway down the runway when Mesmer spots him. Mesmer puts up a hand and the lights flicker. The move stops Splatter in his tracks. Needing to put his hand on a barrier to steady himself Splatter suddenly looks quite unwell and stumbles away. Lottery attack abandoned.
Tocsin wins against the Creeper by DQ. Tocsin has audacity to complain about the Creeper’s cabbage breath. The Creeper probably doesn’t smell too fresh but it’s not him who is responsible for the first few rows in the crowd all cupping their noses. Tocsin is pretty useless in singles matches and that’s very evident here. Struggles against the unpredictable style of the Creeper. Does use HAZARDOUS WASTE but the disgusting move is pretty ineffective against the Creeper. Was pretty obvious this was going to end in a DQ. Neither looked capable of pinning the other. Ultimately the Creeper is the first to cross the referee for getting confused and attacking one of the camera men at ringside who was trying to close ups for this very release.
Thunder and Overkill crush the Pillars of Power. Total mismatch. The Gladiators destroy the Pillars. Not often Powerhouse is outmatched in the strength stakes but he is very much in the shadow of Overkill. After failing miserably with an Overhead Toss he is then smashed with a Gladiator Piledriver. Dynamo is stopped in his tracks by Thunder and the Gladiators then pick up Powerhouse for a double team shoulder charge. He collapses and is pinned. Overkill then tosses him outside straight into where Dynamo and Cassandra are now stood. They go down like skittles. Awesome display from the Gladiators.
Amazonia tears apart Maxine Babe. Bullish promos from Maxine Babe stating that Amazonia is ugly and offering to give her make tips. Her last comment “you can’t polish a turd but I can try” is probably what really riled Amazonia for when the match commences the attacks are ferocious. Maxine is knocked from pillar to post. She manages to repel one AMAZON ATTACK but a second one brings the curtain down on what has been a one-sided and quick match. Amazonia jokes “she’ll need more than make up to cover those bruises”.
Blazing Skull beats Dreadnaught by DQ. More action from a Brymstone card. No other details known about the show but some unlucky camera man caught the action for this bout. Up close and personal with the crowd. Some very unpleasant and disturbing sights get picked up. Dreadnaught is on the end of some violent offence but manages to get out of the ring. There he clashes with some serpents in the front row. Comes off bloody and what’s worse gets disqualified for apparently attacking the crowd.
Eagle defeated Pollux by count-out. Undercarders battle. Poor Pollux fed up with being a figure of fun and led on by teams making him think they might sign him up. Eagle is about to join WAR and looking for a little confidence boost ahead of the big move. He knows he’s got a long way to go but he’s so excited about his future that he is like a kid in a sweet shop. That reflects in his efforts here. Staves off Pollux’s attempts to start fast. A running lariat then leaves Pollux barely able to walk straight. Eagle then guides him over the top rope and takes a count-out victory.

GWF REPORT (MEGATOURNAMENT 2102 CARDS 765 - 768)
Champions * GWF Galaxian Champ: Mayhem (Top Contender: Alpha Force) * GWF Tag Champs: Centaurus Cluster (Top Contenders: Thunder and Overkill) * GWF Interplanetary Champ: Enigma (Top Contender: Jack of Diamonds) * GWF Ladies Champ: Supernova (Top Contender: Thrash) Latest News:
Despite appearing for the Titan team at TEAM SUPREME Pulsar says he still cannot commit to them for 2103. It’s a crushing blow for Lord Nexus who thought a giant step forward had been made. Pulsar said in the latest comment “it was great to hook up with the guys again and Lord Nexus is a much better manager than the Collector ever was. However at the moment I have other plans to be managed by someone else that may or may not materialise. I can’t say an awful lot other than to say he understands me and is the perfect guy to help whilst I still feel all this rage inside me”. There also reports that something that had helped Pulsar make up his mind was that before the event Lord Nexus had asked Pulsar not to use his ACID RAIN finisher. When Pulsar said that’s something he wasn’t prepared to do it made him realise he cannot rejoin the Titans yet. Commander Sam went AWOL during TEAM SUPREME and only surfaces the day after. No apology but Sam says he had urgent business to attend to. It is assumed it was a military call of duty and Omega buys his explanation.
Those stories do not overshadow the fact that the Citadel emerged triumphant at the event. Some people do have a soft spot for Morpheus and are sad to see him going from the GWF. One last moment in the spotlight was deserved. No matter what anyone says he is a legend and one of the founding fathers. There is also relief that the CPC didn’t win. Nobody enjoys how their financial muscle has more or less bought them success. Titles and trophies adorn Pelf Palace. About time one got away from their greedy grasp.
Mutant found! Turns up out of nowhere within the dense Neptunian jungle attacking some of Terak’s cherished creatures. No explanation as to how it got there. Maybe an Aethran cruiser dumped it after it got lost at the War Dome. Terak thinks about taking custody of it but Mutant is aggressive, lost and confused. He makes arrangements to return it to Cannibal.
Reynard B. Guile wins manager of the year. Nearly gets into a fight at the awards ceremony with Johnny Rocket who says he only won it because he had a cushy number. With the guys at his disposal Johnny thinks anyone could of tasted success. It’s been an interesting year as far as these awards go because very few guys or teams have truly stood out. The big winners in the singles and tag category are Mayhem and Centaurus Cluster. The honour bestowed upon Archon and Crossfire is made even more impressive considering this was also their debut year. Quite why the CPC is washing their hands of them is puzzling but Colby didn’t accumulate all his wealth without taking risks and making big cut throat decisions.
Things are boiling over between the Gladiators and the Hitmen. More to happen at the press conferences but a brutal bloody attack takes place on Vengeance at TEAM SUPREME. Vengeance hasn’t said much about it other than to say “the Hitmen just made the biggest mistake of their lives”. The Gladiators don’t like to show weakness and will make light of the injuries. Vengeance has plans to wrestle on. What could make things really interesting is that Thunder and Overkill will soon be receiving a shot at the tag belts. Which may mean that they will soon be feuding with the Mercenaries over the belts to make things even more intense. INJURED – Vengeance (7); SUSPENDED – none WHOSE HOT ... Matador, Raven, Enigma, Vanity, Janus, Thrash, Centaurus Cluster, the Watchmen, Hunter’s Moon, Thunder and Overkill WHOSE NOT ... Ram, Wolf, Jack of Diamonds, Pegasus, Mayhem, Maxine Babe, Pillars of Power, Sam’s Squadron, Demons of Hydra MEGATOURNAMENT STANDINGS: CPC 576, Omega’s Heroes 511, Morpheus’s Villains 413 (So that’s it. All over. Some of the formalities to be completed at the 2103 press conferences but Commissioner Grogan held a joint awards ceremony to honour the MEGATOURNAMENT winners plus those scooping the end of year awards. Morpheus must have been feeling sick as he failed to show up. Nor did Chaos. Weaknesses were exposed against their team long ago. No team spirit and neglect of the tag division cost the Villains dearly. At least Morpheus won TEAM SUPREME again. That’s not a bad consolation. Omega is dissapointed the Heroes got edged by the CPC. Calls it beginners luck, although Colby has been in the GWF before so I guess he was more referring to the Corporation than the individuals. Hard to say what lost it for him. Key players like Wolf and Max Shield certainly underperformed and didn’t deliver enough points. The Gamemasters disbanding late in the day didn’t help although Sam’s Squadron stepped in as great replacements for the run in. Maybe Commander Sam should shoulder some blame for going missing at TEAM SUPREME. That hurt the team and cost points. Hats off to the Matador and the Gladiators for scooping the MVP trophies in a strong field of combatants. Magnus Colby and Sonora Pelf must take credit for their wise investments. They have won the team trophy as well as overseen the individual awards. Add to that having the Heavyweight and Tag belts under the independent roster. They have achieved so much success) MVP STANDINGS: SINGLES: Matador 125, Pegasus 92, Janus 74, Mandrill 68, Chaos 66, Alpha Force 60, Raven 59, Mayhem 57, Vengeance 51, Wolf 42, Colussus 41, Bishop Hell 39, Heracles 36, Pulsar 32, Max Shield 28, Holocaust 25, Monad 22, Mad Jester 20, Enigma 16, Splatter 15, Johnny Rocket 1 TAG TEAM: Thunder and Overkill 88, Mercenaries 75, New Order 41, Gamemasters 40, Centaurus Cluster 39, Sam’s Squadron 35, Superiority Complex 33, Titan Fury 28, Generation X 21, Henchmen 10, Watchmen 6, Flamboyance 4, Pillars of Power 2 WOMEN: Amazonia 46, Anaxis 24, Thrash 21, Cassandra 4
WRESTLER OF THE MONTH: The Matador - Probably not a vintage year and almost let a large MVP lead slip but in this past month finds another gear and posts a series of incredible victories.
TAG TEAM OF THE MONTH: Thunder and Overkill - The cogs have been getting back into gear. Gladiators looking menacing again. Thunder thinks it’s about time they got hold of the belts again. SUDDEN DEATH 2103 NOTES More detail in the handbook but this is the summary of what happened in the press conferences and details on the new cards/updates. I staggered some of the events to happen a month or two into the new game year. For example the No Fear-Lords of Fire feud doesn’t get started until March as Crossfire is alive for the opening part of 2103. So those press conferences relating to those teams took place much later than all the others. A little fragmented I know as I try to stitch on some of the 2103 matches I played years ago when I was young and couldn’t sustain my play properly. Bear with me.
SUDDEN DEATH ROSTERS Champions of the Galaxy-Sam’s Stormtroopers Genesis and Wolf-Colonizers of Scorpi No Fear-Lords of Fire WARS-Rocketmen Fighting Titans-Masked Assassins Savage Kingdom-Murderer’s Row Flamboyance-Pillars of Power Jack of Diamonds-Mad Jester
SUDDEN DEATH 2103-04 SCORING
Match must be designated as SD. It is worth between 1 and 4 points. Try to use wrestlers equally within teams. If a team has a champion at end of month that earns extra bonus points.
Scoring
Heavyweight champ ... 2 pts Tag team champs ... 2 pts Interplanetary champ ... 1 pt Ladies champ ... 1 pt
Win regular match versus SD opponent ... 2 pts by pin or submission, 1 pt by DQ or count-our
Win special match versus SD opponent ... 3 pts
Win Aethran Ultimate Escape, Tag Elimination or Battlezone match (min 3 wrestlers) ... 4 pts (plus 1 bonus pt per survivor)
WINS AT GALACTICON WORTH DOUBLE POINTS (might also implement this for other events too on an adhoc basis)
Standings reported as percentage of overall points so as not to expose less amounts of matches in certain feuds.
PRESS CONFERENCE MAIN HIGHLIGHTS COMMISSIONER GROGAN – (This happened in two parts as the one involving Blazing Skull wasn’t scheduled until a couple of months into 2103) … After announcing the MEGATOURNAMENT results Morpheus bursts in on Grogan and demands to be given a fitting send off rather than the modest one he received at the final card of the year. Grogan grudgingly acknowledges his contributions but it is a backhanded compliment as he makes mention of not always agreeing with the style and philosophy. Morpheus ends up storming out without any ceremony. Maybe it will be last time he will ever be seen in a GWF setting. The latter part of the press conference sees the Commissioner announce that there will be another house cleaning operation as SUDDEN DEATH returns for 2103-04 … A couple of months later Grogan has to participate in a sombre press conference as he tries to deal with the fall out of Crossfire’s death. He reluctantly agrees that the best way to manage the situation is to allow Blazing Skull to join the GWF with the skullcap stipulation. Deep down he is nervous. Another big accident could easily bring about the end of his time in office. As he loves wrestling so much this is not something that bears thinking about. COLONIZERS – Mandrill is in a bragging mood. This press conference takes place the day after he beat Ram in a Slave match. Poor Ram is now the Colonizer bodyguard. By the way things go it appears both Tocsin and Ram are the insurance policy against banishment and their necks will be on the line. Mandrill makes it very clear that this year he will finally win the Heavyweight belt. It has almost become an obsession but he must not take his eye off the ball against Genesis. By having Ram on board it will make him more dangerous as Mandrill has perfected getting the distraction and signals right to make VOLTAIC STUNNER a bigger threat than ever before (see handbook for details). GENESIS – The main talking point is the amazing coup of Wolf and Amazonia to the Genesis team. Wolf announces that he and Buck Steele intend to form a tag team called Panic Attack. In a dramatic scene puts SAVAGE FACE CLAW on Buck who is a willing recipient. When Genocide appears he immediately clotheslines Wolf down and they brawl until the other members somehow calm them. The plan (against Max Shield’s wishes) is to try this move sometimes before tag matches so that Genocide appears from the start. It could work against them as if Buck doesn’t transform he will be going into matches already badly hurt via an increased pin rating. Panic Attack’s main opponents will be Animen Uprising (Mandrill and Ram). HITMEN – Got the award for most violent press conference. Krakan officially challenged the Gladiators to a SUDDEN DEATH feud. As his team lays into them and proclaims the Aethrans top of their Hit List the Media Center door was smashed to the floor and in charged the Gladiators. It was a wild brawl. Mayhem dived off a table towards Splatter and got a mouthful of Arsenal. Overkill picked up a table and broke it over Soldier of Fortune. Vigilante choked Thunder with a police stick and Vengeance went for Krakan himself and applied Eye Cleaver. It took a force of about 50 security guys to separate the teams (12 for Overkill alone). There had been no formal acceptance just the carnage but after this it looked inevitable the teams will go to war. GLADIATORS – Anyone who thought the last press conference was dramatic didn’t reckon on this. At first all was calm. The Gladiators were in a bragging mood especially Thunder and Overkill for collecting MEGATOURNAMENT TAG MVP. The challenge of the Hitmen to a feud is accepted and Vengeance says WAR are lucky to escape their attentions. Things suddenly change when the topic of who is eligible for banishment comes up. Mayhem having already been banished once thinks he is untouchable. Vengeance quickly corrects him and says all members are eligible. Mayhem goes mad and challenges the supposed leadership. Within moments Vengeance has Eye Cleaver applied after Mayhem rages and charges at him. As the two men roll around on the floor a hush falls as Thakur appears to restore order. He will not tolerate anymore internal fighting and orders them to stop. All the Gladiators fall into line and Vengeance is officially named as leader. Mayhem respectfully observes his wishes but once Thakur departs he bolts from the Gladiators. In 2103 he will strike out alone. FLAMBOYANCE-PILLARS OF POWER –The Pillars break away from their battle with the FDF claiming superiority. The jostling between these two teams becomes largely fuelled by the two women Cassandra and Maxine Babe. The challenge ends with the losing team having both members banished as punishment for losing. BROTHERHOOD – After the shambles of the previous year everyone wonders what the fate of the team will be and who they will challenge in 2103. The Overlord is full of bravado but things unravel fast. Firstly it is soon apparent Bishop Hell is a no show, for reasons as yet unknown. Then Mesmer cuts off the Overlord fast. Upon insulting Pharaoh Khety it all starts to happen. The Pharaoh is almost traumatised by what he is hearing. As he protests Mesmer places a hand on his shoulder. Shortly after Khety collapses unconscious. As the Overlord assists medics in transporting Khety over to a table he also collapses. Mesmer shows concern but they are obviously crocodile tears and he is behind this. The questioning ends in disarray and the conditions of both men are hot news on GWF shows for weeks to come. However, there is little change day by day and they seem to be stuck in non life threatening comas for the long haul. MASKED ASSASSINS – The main theme centres around Darkos’s proclaimed ‘Second Reign of Assassin Greatness’. He introduces new members Zouave and Manslaughter. Certainly one makes more of an impression than the other. With the Demons of Hyrda taking a year off training ready for a triumphant return next year the media guys wonder where the Assassin tag challenge will come from. Darkos reveals that Enigma and Manslaughter will split their time wrestling singles and tag action. As a team they will be known as Assassin Greatness. Could be the makings of a solid team. Not much expected of Zoauve but Darkos has hopes he can show big improvement and threaten the IP belt. FIGHTING TITANS – Lord Nexus and his team are ready for the Assassins. They don’t feel the need for fancy names surrounding their rebuilding. It is good to see Lord Nexus planning to wrestle on. He knows he is getting old but still feels he can help and Ursa Major is always willing to have him as a partner. The main question surrounds Pulsar and whether he would be finally rejoining the team. It had seemed unlikely but towards the end of the year offered hope as Pulsar joined his old friends on TEAM SUPREME. Unfortunately a false dawn as Lord Nexus admits Pulsar has other plans but says the door remains and always will be open to rejoin his family. Johnny Rocket comically responds to those emotional comments with “I feel sick” and abruptly ends the interview. FDF – All appeared normal until Mesmer walked in. Sam is defensive and tells him to clear off with raised fists. Mesmer offers peace and important information. Sam probably allows him to get too close as Mesmer is able to place a hand onto his shoulder and start whispering in his ear. Sam’s expression changes as Mesmer feeds him information about how Omega has been bad mouthing the FDF and plans to retire Sam before more damage is done to the hero team. It is worrying to see Sam reacting to this with anger. Not towards Mesmer (for the obvious lies) but to Omega. Having seen Sam’s Squadron demoted from MEGATOURNAMENT in preference to Titan Fury last year it seemed to make sense to him now. Nobody seemed to notice Mesmer had shuffled away during this. All eyes were on Sam. In a final scene US. Patriot tries to calm his manager down but Sam tells him to back off and demands to be called Commando Sam. Worriedly Adam suggests the team leave and have a discussion. Sam relents to this and the team departs but the gossiping starts straight away. What would be the next move? Had Mesmer somehow got into Sam’s head? CPC – (2 press conferences) … In the opening press conference Colby and Pelf start by promoting Reynard B. Guile to Vice-President of Operations. He is dressed in expensive attire with diamonds lining the sides of his top hat. They announce they are downsizing the team to two members but will not be part of SUDDEN DEATH as Colby thinks it is a bad investment. Instead they will focus on holding the Heavyweight belt. The Matador is the first member kept on (no surprise there). He is happy to continue as he gets paid well and has been able to well and truly get away from the shadow of Chaos with the help of the CPC. The next member is a new signing but most of the media recognise him. It is the AFW legend Terminus. He proclaims he has now joined the major league of galactic wrestling. Reynard B. Guile is so excited to be managing these two guys he gets told off by Sonora Pelf for being undignified … In the second press conference which comes after all the others Reynard B. Guile speaks on behalf of the CPC. He makes a shocking announcement that they have signed Janus. This is a major coup and Reynard starts to call himself ‘Manager of Champions’. With the Matador, Janus and Terminus under his guidance its not a far fetched claim. JACK OF DIAMONDS-MAD JESTER – After the savage attack conducted at his father’s retirement ceremony last year Jack has been waiting for a chance of revenge. A one-on-one SUDDEN DEAT feud is the perfect way to get it. No attacks this year or so everyone thinks. Jester makes up some kooky limerick about a trap being sprung but appears to do nothing. Jack and Exo-King had braced themselves. However as soon as they try to move they realise their feet are stuck. Glued in a some kind of substance Jester had smeared across the floor where they were stood. Unable to move they are are powerless to protect themselves and Jester floors them both with a clothesline before cackling hysterically and leaving. Took about ten minutes to free Jack and Exo-King. The scene for this intense feud is set. Jack will need to step up his hardcore game if he wants to survive this. WAR-ROCKETMEN – Initially this started off as WAR’s press conference. Eagle was with them and looked very excited to be part of it all. As Destructon 3000 speaks about the disappointment of not being paired up with the Gladiators for another feud Johnny Rocket and his team interupt. Johnny makes a challenge to WAR to face them again and calls it a favour. Mace immediately speaks up and accepts (who made him spokesmen?) and an exicted Johnny now starts showing off some of the changes to his team. Metalhead is no more, instead he is Sleeze and the new team name is X-Termination. The tag level looks like it has been raised with this tweak. Next up is the return of an old friend to the WAR team (and now foe) Holocaust. Finally a man dressed in academic gown and mortar board calling himself Brainstorm. He is accompanied by his student assistant Darla. Eagle nicknames him Brain Drizzle. The last drama surrounds Monad who storms onto set wondering why he wasn’t invited to which Johnny Rocket tells him he is not needed. Monad thinks about attacking Johnny but sees he is outnumbered and stomps out. His fate unknown beyond this press conference. SAVAGE KINGDOM-MURDERER’S ROW –Terak makes an announcement that he is officially retiring from wrestling to fully concentrate on managing the team and help Mollock stay under a greater control. Stalker is also a retirement announcement (possibly temporary) as he fulfils a desire to return to the jungles of Neptune. Bit of a shame that he spent a lot of time suspended at the end of the year. Replacing him on the team is a youngster called Karah, the Jungle Lad. Cannibal is sending Cycle Hog to squash him. Cannibal then makes a shock announcement that Death’s Head and Draconian Sheik will pair up as a tag team called Sick Things to take on Hunter’s Moon. Finally the long standing classic feud between the Creeper and Mutant continues. LORDS OF FIRE – (in my fed this press conference takes place a couple of months into 2103) Features the introduction of Blazing Skull which is a terrifying sight. Even Johnny Rocket seems to be nervous. The main talking point surrounds Crossfire’s death and the subsequent allowing of him to compete in the GWF with the skullcap. Johnny asks whether the incident on Brymstone was an accident but Blazing Skull neither confirms or denies instead choosing to laugh in frightening manner at the line of questioning. Things get more daunting when Maleph flies onto set and looks like he has been sent from the bowels of hell itself. Maleph calls himself the Defender of Disorder and his purpose is to guide and manage Blazing Skull. The last introduction is not a surprise given the groundwork being laid last year. The notoriuous Bishop Hell officially links up with Blazing Skull and together they are the Lords of Fire. NO FEAR – (press conference occurred two months after all the others. Until this point Centaurus Cluster and Pulsar are presumed as free agents having been dropped by the CPC. Thantos also listed as having retired and considering his next options) Opens with Archon on his own. He tells Qualitar that he is relieved Blazing Skull is now in the GWF where his behaviour can be regulated. When warned that the skullcap maybe not been 100% effective Archon says he is placing trust in wrestling officials to ensure it is made as safe as possible. Strangely his belief is that what happened to Crossfire was an accident but that Blazing Skull is so sick and twisted that he is trying to pretend it may not of been to keep up his mystique. Archon is still dedicated to going after him every hour of every day and following him from planet to planet to sign matches. Qualitar worries that with Maleph and Bishop Hell on board that Archon will not be able to cope on his own. The big reveal from Archon is that he will not be alone as he has got a manager who has seen it all and cannot be intimidated. At this point the door to the media centre opens and in strides the legendary Thantos. Just as the media is wondering how the two of them will cope as they are still outnumbered the next big reveal happens. Pulsar walks in and shakes the hands of both Archon and Thantos. It all makes sense now. They have a common goal. Pulsar has a score to settle with Bishop Hell and Archon has one to settle with Blazing Skull. Thantos looks like he is going to enjoy managing this team which he brands as No Fear. That’s not all though. Whilst Pulsar admits he will probably rejoin the Titans one day he says dealing with Bishop Hell is something that still prevents that. He issues a challenge to Bishop Hell, whoever loses the SUDDEN DEATH feud must retire. Of course mere minutes after this Bishop Hell is hounded by reporters seeking an answer to this. He tries to evade it but when pressed finally accepts the challenge. This is hot! SAM’S STORMTROOPERS – Would turn out to be one of the most memorable press conferences in history. Was originally scheduled for the Citadel team and was hugely anticipated given that Morpheus was now banished. Chaos took over of course. When past failures are put in front of him such as the last SUDDEN DEATH with Destruction Incorporated and now MEGATOURNAMENT with the villains losing Chaos blames his supporting cast. Suddenly gunfire fills the room and the assumption it is Krakan. Had some deal been done? Surely not with Krakan as he has hands full with the Gladiators. When the figure appears dressed in battle fatigues and ready for war there are gasps as Commando Sam appears. Mesmer quietly follows Sam into the room trying to be inconspicuous and listens in intently with his arms folded. Sam commands everybody to rest and heads straight towards Chaos to make him an offer. Puts it to Chaos “your team needs a manager and I need a team”. After stroking the ego of Chaos and telling how Omega has used him it seems the message is getting across. Chaos seems to agree they can help each other but refuses to obey orders from just anyone. He is not entirely sure but his mood soon changes when Janus pipes up and raises concerns. He is frosty and doesn’t like Mesmer’s lurking presence. Chaos belittles Janus saying that he didn’t win enough matches last year which shocks Janus considering he outscored Chaos. Sam seizes on the turbulent moment and tells Janus to beat it whilst arrogantly lighting a cigarette. Chaos likes this attitude and backs it up. Janus departs and leaves everyone behind in shock. In a few short moments it seems that Sam has been accepted as manager (the team later gets referred to as Sam’s Stormtroopers). He even brings a shocking new recruit, Dark Justice. With US. Patriot absent Sam assumes he is with the enemy and as such will be treated as one. Nobody can scarcely believe what has happened as the team accompanies Sam out the door with Mesmer once again quietly following. What his role in all this is? Is he even part of the team? Nobody knows. CHAMPIONS OF THE GALAXY – Understandably Omega is despondent by the events of the last press conference but says the real Sam is a friend. It is obvious Mesmer is behind this and manipulating Sam like a puppet. Trying to work through the shock of it all and field the irritating questioning of Johnny Rocket the formailities of the team line up to face Sam’s Stormtroopers commence. Star Warrior ignores Johnny’s digs that he should retire and announces he will form a new tag team with his brother, Alpha Force. He is confident that they have what it takes to beat Superiority Complex and also challenge for the belts. However he agrees with Johnny Rocket when it is put to him that with Dark Justice joining the enemy and Thantos retiring the Champions are a man short. This is the cue for US. Patriot and Ms. Liberty to enter, Adam calls out “you’re not a man short”. Supernova runs to her friend Ms. Liberty and instantly hugs her. There is no interview process when a guy with Adam’s talent offers his services. Omega welcomes him straight onto the team and Adam promises to take care of Dark Justice. Omega has the final words saying they must treat Sam as a formidable opponent. He thinks he is a much better manager than Morpheus and that makes the old Citadel team stronger. Before he can say much more Sam and his Stormtroopers march in. The purpose … to officially declare war on Omega and his Champions team! OTHER – Mayhem vows to continue his legendary feud with Wolf. At the moment he is not going to be going after the other Gladiators as he doesn’t want to throw it all away and become an outcast from Aethran society. However he says the time will come eventually and when it does happen there will be bloodshed … Monad is dumped by Johnny Rocket and he confirms he’ll be leaving the GWF but may be back one day … Henchmen are no longer. Marcel de Sade confirms retirement. Dreadnaught wants to carry on til he drops and still thinks he’s got a championship belt in him … Gemini chooses not to join Mesmer and Commando Sam. Not that he was asked anyway. Wants to stay away until the dust settles. Gives a brief update on the Overlord and Pharaoh Khety who both remain in comas although life signs are stable … Finally, the Collector retires again to return to the life of collecting
