CARD 971 – SATURDAY NIGHT STARSLAMMERS – DEIMOS INTERGALACTIC ARENA:
The Champions are superior to Penthouse Suite in a Titan Death Battlezone. The Champions almost miss the start after somebody tampers with the video screen in the wrestler’s lounge. They are all there watching a delayed feed and the curtain call is so close to being missed and match forfeited. Star Warrior is only alerted when his father, Omega, darts in and demands to know what they are doing. Star Warrior almost loses his rag at the dressing down but then panics when he realises what they are watching is not happening in real time. Adam just about made it in time for the opener against Colussus but got wasted immediately. This could easily of unsettled the whole team but the Champions led by Pegasus storm back for a brilliant victory. Here’s how the matches went down … Colussus dumps US. Patriot in just one move. Adam raced to the ring to beat the countdown. Colussus just waited for him to enter the ring and met him with a Cyborg Clothesline for the pin. Fasted ever match timed at 4 seconds. Mega embarrassing … Pegasus eliminates Colussus. Culmination of an exhausting month for Pegasus as he just scrapes past Colussus. Wasn’t about to be caught by the same move as Adam. Too strong for that. But he has trouble with Colussus’s comebacks after some of his best moves. The robotic side absorbing many an impact. This was much closer than their last meeting but Pegasus eventually gets it done via PROJECT PEGASUS. What’s more he managed to get through token free … Pegasus sees off the Matador in just 2 moves. The speed of these matches is incredible. First move sees Matador whip Pegasus into the ropes but falls victim to a sunset flip on the rebound. He bursts out the pin attempt but walks straight into PROJECT PEGASUS and it’s see you later … Pegasus continues his stunning run by beating Paragon. Another match negotiated and still no fatigue tokens. Paragon barely got a meaningful shot in before he also falls to PROJECT PEGASUS after a few minutes … Pegasus seals the overall win by beating Prodigy. Holy smokes, what a contest. Pegasus wins his fourth in a row but this was no walkover. After starting strong he finally runs into resistance. Prodigy gave it everything and had several pin attempts. One was very close after using THE PERFECT SINGLES FINISHER. Pegasus rides out the all the punishment and comes back with, yep you guessed it, PROJECT PEGASUS. Meant a dominating win for the Champions that had seemed so unlikely after the awful start.
Cruiserweight champ, Ursa Major, dazzles to beat Enigma. Little personal battle between Enigma and Lycosa going on as to who can win the GWF Cruiserweight belt first. Now is Enigma’s big chance. DM on commentary “Enigma has wisely held back until now. He stayed out of the CPC tournament and took it slow whilst Lycosa has been chasing everything. Could be a classic case of the Tortoise and Hare”. Of course once inside the ring you can hardly describe Enigma as a Tortoise. The speed of his moves are mind blowing. Ursa Major initially struggling to cope. Even though he is the champ he is considered as the underdog. Fan frustration as Ursa Major keeps ignoring chances to bail out the ring and stop the onslaught. But he fears for FEET OF FURY if he does. Proves a savvy move because Enigma, although on top, lacks the heavy hitting moves to finish it. Ursa Major rides it out and starts to get a foothold. Out of nowhere trying SHOTGUN CRADLE four times in a row. The final one was cruelly disrupted by Darkos which gave Enigma a chance to smash him down from behind. But the tide didn’t turn for too long. Ursa Major is now in the groove and sees Enigma’s second wave off. Then a nifty flying head scissors converts into a pin attempt and it’s a successful one. Big crowd pop for the outcome. Darkos shocked. He thought it was a foregone conclusion Enigma would be adding the Cruiserweight belt to the IP one currently in the custody of the Masked Assassins. Would of made the team look very strong.
Painmaster dominates Manslaughter to become IP champ again. Manslaughter still cannot believe he is wearing this belt. So long in the doldrums as Darkos preferred to push Enigma, Lycosa and the Ninjas. But now arguably the top guy on the team. For how long depends on him. Can he build a reign and prove his beating of Wraith wasn’t just a flash in the pan? It is actually a delicate situation for Darkos. His team has pledged allegiance to the Colonizers so to be going against Painmaster made his role difficult. No doubt Sentry would be active to try and take the belt but if Darkos makes him a similar nuisance of himself it could draw the ire of Mandrill. He would certainly not want his team alienated. His discipline is tested to the fore as Manslaughter stumbles very quickly. Getting caught out with a blow when trying a clumsy whip into the ropes. Painmaster totally dominant after that. Winning with THE TORTURE RACK. Took a couple of goes and not made easy by Manslaughter’s size but does the job. Darkos watched it all happen but stayed still. Had to grin and bear it. Does Manslaughter have much of a future in the Masked Assassins after this? His belt success is over in the blink of an eye and probably a false dawn. With Painmaster holding the belt and a sworn enemy will this rekindle Wraith’s interest in the belt?
The Mercenaries beat Draconian Sheik and Splatter (aka Butcher’s Delight) by DQ. Everyone wrongly assumed Drac and Splatter would pair up this year. But Splatter admires Drac’s ‘mild mannered nature’ and asked the Terrorists if they could team. Maybe they can learn off each other, lol. Not sure how the CPC feels about Splatter fraternising with the dangerous Terrorists without approval. Splatter didn’t stay without his trusty weapon for too long. Money talks and a huge offer from the coffers of Colby and Pelf persuaded the fan that held Arsenal to part with the souvenir. They will also be guests of honour at the next CPC show. No real secret Soldier of Fortune isn’t the happiest of bunnies in the Hitmen. He really didn’t want this match against two crazed lunatics and felt forced into it. He rides some rough offence initially as Splatter singles him out for treatment but the attacks burn out. After that the experience of the Mercenaries comes to the fore and they takeover. Two attempts with OPERATION: AMBUSH on Drac are ruined by the distractions of the Terrorists. Then when Soldier of Fortune goes for THE REVENGER there is an instinctive kickout from Drac. But he is on the ropes. During a brief turnover in offence Vigilante then found himself outside. The Terrorists, feeling the match will probably be lost, decide to assault him and draw the DQ. Lucky for Vigilante the GWF had the resources here to stifle anything serious. A security team comes out fast and gets among everyone to stop anything sinister.
Wolf and Amazonia beat Heracles and Anaxis by DQ in mixed tag. Amazonia’s scars still looking pretty red. She is fired up and yells to Anaxis “you got some nerve showing your face after what you did”. Anaxis boldly quips back “looks who’s talking”. Wolf didn’t like that and almost savages Anaxis in response. Amazonia manages to calm him down and says “let me deal with her”. Heracles just relaxes against the ropes watching this play out. When he finally decides to get underway he treats Anaxis like a doormat and even tried to send her out against Wolf. That’s not permitted and the ref reminds him of that. He lazily enters the ring to face him as if the whole thing is a massive inconvenience. Although when he does get to wrestling fares pretty well. Giving Wolf some problems with a couple of OLYMPIA hits. The action switches to the women after a few minutes and neither is holding back. They end up brawling outside the ring. Anaxis tried to give Amazonia more injuries via a chair shot. Nothing resolved as a DQ called. Rematch on the horizon next month.
Rebel Empire ends the sizzling run of Hunters of Prey. The Hunters were looking to continue their incredible form. Performances against Desolation Factor and the Gladiators have catapulted them towards the summit of the tag ranks. They are understandably confident and looking very sharp but soon get brought back down with a bump. Rebel Empire inflicts EMPIRE TRIUMPHANT on Karah three times. It was astonishing to see him muster kickouts for the first two but nobody can take so many hits as that. The effects of the DDT meant he had to be treated for concussion afterwards. Despite the defeat Terak is still positive about the team and says of the outcome “no harm done”.
Overkill defeated Ruin. Slow start to the Gladiators-Desolation Factor rivalry. This is the first of a couple singles matches running across the next 2 shows. Neither team has really set things alight so far this year. Poor ref who has to control this looks like he is having palpitations as these two giants come into the ring. Gets out the way pronto, not wanting to be the meat in their sandwich. In truth it’s not a great spectacle. Pretty pedestrian. Overkill enjoyed the greater share of meaningful offence and managed to win with TURNBUCKLE TRAP. The best thing about it was afterwards. They clashed again behind the curtain and the ensuing brawl brought much wreckage. Bring on the first tag bout between the teams. That should be much much more explosive.
Velar pretty much enjoys smooth sailing in beating Ms. Liberty. On a night of plenty Champions-Penthouse Suite skirmishes we have the women facing off too. Velar arrogantly proclaims she is wasting her time facing an old lady like Ms. Liberty and vows to finish it off quickly. Then she has her sights set on going after the GWF ladies belts to go along the CPC she recently won/inherited. Ms. Liberty does her best to make it a decent contest and probably strung it longer than Velar hoped. But in the end the gulf in ability showed. Velar is able to use HAMMERLOCK SLAM to end it.

CARD 972 – PELF PALACE:
Wolf defies the odds to beat Prodigy for the CPC Heavyweight belt in a match where Scourge was acting as ref. Does Wolf even have a prayer with the corrupt Scourge being allocated to officiate this match? Prodigy had been hoping his former Citadel team mate Heracles would of put a few bumps on Wolf at STARSLAMMERS but nothing doing. Wolf is as fired up as ever. He has never cared much for any belt before but for some reason this CPC one is driving him nuts with desire. It’s all he’s been talking about. Some suspect he just wants to win it so he can disrespect it. But first he’s got to win it. In the opening minutes Wolf is really under the cosh. Prodigy showing he doesn’t need any help. He manages to direct Wolf outside and Thantos cannot resist trying to attack. Knows Scourge will be very relaxed about anything he tries. But Wolf shocks Thantos by springing up having played dead. Knocks Thantos straight into Prodigy who had jumped over the top rope onto the floor once he saw Wolf had got up. Before Prodigy knew what was happening he was back in the ring and locked in SAVAGE FACE CLAW. That looked bad but Scourge demanded a break of hold claiming Prodigy was near the ropes even though he looked a couple of feet away. Wolf angrily releases and goes again but lost momentum after this. Prodigy able to comeback. Becoming more even and less incident packed in the next few minutes. That is until Prodigy went for a deathjump/crossbody. He just connects with thin air and eats mat. Wolf had gotten out of the way and excitedly dives on him for the cover. The impact had stunned Prodigy so much that even a slow count from Scourge couldn’t save him. Stunned silence throughout the Palace as Wolf wins the belt. He swings it over his head whilst running down the red carpet. Will the CPC see it in this state again? Dissecting this the CPC won’t be happy and will of course be worried about the safety of their expensive belt. But maybe it gives them a chance to push in a new direction and have other CPC guys go for the belt. Deep down we all know their top guys are Paragon, Matador and Colussus in that order. Prodigy is a unique talent but probably not a totally fitting figurehead for their organisation.
CPC Tag champs, Theatre of Pain, give a strong performance to see off Hunters of Prey. The Hunters defeat of Desolation Factor largely responsible for this unexpected title shot so soon after formation. Wildcat’s previous work in the Hunter’s Moon tag team also a factor. Perhaps they have been punching above their weight a bit though. They were put back in their place by Rebel Empire on the previous card and it could of knocked their confidence. However they do have both Terak and Mollock with them again. Terak is surprised at the lack of restrictions and is making the most of it before the CPC stance changes. Unfortunately Karah gets swamped by both members of Theatre of Pain from the opening bell. Barely a minute gone by he becomes the main act of SHAKESPEARE and things look bleak. Terak resists trying interference preferring to rely on a pin save first. But Wildcat’s intrusion is foiled and Karah ended up in a worse state as he got further double teamed before Comedy gleefully pins him. Sadly Savage Kingdom has fallen short in both their attempts to raid CPC gold tonight. Hopefully they can recover from this and try again in the future.
CPC Interstellar champ, Colussus, predictably swatted the challenge of Gila away. Gila has to pinch himself. He cannot believe the position he finds himself in. Luckily all his friends are with him. Terak and Mollock allowed ringside. It’s a big night for Savage Kingdom what with this and the Hunters going for tag glory in the next match. The prizes on offer are bigger than ever for a team often considered more of a support act to other hero teams. On seeing Colussus coming down the red carpet Gila snaps out of being starstruck and looks primed and ready for action. His tongue protrudes and the fists are up and clenched (Gila still thinks that looks menacing). But Colussus makes mincemeat of him almost straight away. The only real offensive move Gila managed was an elbow up as Colussus tried a turnbuckle charge. Sod’s law it hit the robotic side and hurt Gila more. Colussus seemed to then drag it out. Actually trying Gila’s own GUT CHECK twice but soon realises what an ineffective move it is as Gila kicked out both times. Later turns to the trusty ROBOTIC DEATHBLOW and that brings down the curtain on the match.
CPC Cruiserweight champ, Brainstorm, keeps the belt as he beats Halcon Oro by DQ. The Golden Hawk has dazzled ever since his arrival, surely destined for greater things. The commentators have been running out of adjectives to describe some of the things he does. Some of his moves should be watched back in slow motion to catch them. He could be even more spectacular than Enigma and Lycosa. Unfortunately this proved to be a pretty disastrous attempt to win the belt. Having been heavily favoured he got suckered in by Maxine Babe on the first move allowing Brainstorm to surprise with an ambush bulldog. It rattled him but still with enough awareness to bail out onto the apron. Brainstorm was busy showboating so Halcon Oro went to the top rope for something spectacular. But instead of leaping at Brainstorm he goes to payback Maxine Babe and swivels to target her. Perfect connection but no way even the CPC can be allowing acts like that on the weaker sex no matter how much she deserved it. Ref calls DQ. Darla angrily tries to bash Halcon Oro with her silly pom-poms before she is shoved away. Halcon Oro then storms off. Brainstorm proudly reclaims the belt and walks off like he’s the greatest thing ever. Not caring for Maxine Babe who needed medical assistance. Commissioner Grogan was unhappy Halcon Oro didn’t win and remarks to Magnus Colby sat next to him “that belt would fit him like a glove. Maybe we should sign this guy permanently? Only a matter of time before he wins it”.
Velar and Amazonia slug out a double DQ in a match for the CPC Ladies belt. The brutality of an unexpected feud with Anaxis has done nothing to dampen Amazonia’s resolve to win the CPC belt. Many wrestlers have shown desire to hold belts in both organisations and she is no exception. There are no restrictions on this, at least not yet. Velar has the same plan. Although Amazonia has since dropped the GWF belt between the time this was booked and tonight so would have to set about reclaiming that to reach her goal even if she was successful here. Potentially it could have been great but ends in an ugly mess. Amazonia did well to make light of her injuries and survive HAMMERLOCK SLAM during its course. Otherwise it was very close between them until the action spilled from the ring. They both then decided to grab a hold of the nearest weapon. For Amazonia it was a spear whilst Thrash unseats an official to have his chair. They end up in a stand off with weapons raised. The ref looks up at the gallery unsure on what to do about it. Commissioner Grogan draws a finger across his throat to signify it was time to cut the match. As soon as the announcer declares the double DQ the angry ladies throw down their weapons and head off in opposite directions. Unclear if they will meet again after that. Double DQ outcomes do not go down well in the CPC as it puts entertainment over most other matters.
Mayhem goes nuts to beat Spike. For the returning Spike it’s a step into the unknown. After all his time away how would he cope against the lunacy of Mayhem? It’s a no win situation for Mayhem. If he beats Spike he will incur the wrath of the other Gladiators but if he loses then will be on thin ground with the CPC. They represent his only option to carry on wrestling at the highest level. But that seems to be a million miles from his brain as he rips into Spike. At first it looked like Spike might be overwhelmed. Can hardly get his footing. This did improve though and he went toe to toe for a while. But there was no stopping Mayhem this time. He was like a thing possessed and a snake eyes roll following Mayhem Manslaughter got Spike pinned. Having won Mayhem didn’t want to stop there. A finish on doubles necessitated a look up on the feud table. It referenced an ally joining Mayhem to inflict more punishment. But even though Mayhem is an Outcast member he doesn’t really have close allies. Certainly none that would put their neck on the line for him. So instead Mayhem went on alone. Plucking one of Spike’s own spikes from his Gladiator armour to carve at his forehead until drenched in blood. Mayhem almost slipped in a pool of it when it was time to leave. Spike did recover despite the mess. It probably looked worse than it really was to the naked eye. He grabbed the floating mic before the announcer could get it. Dares Mayhem to try that again when they face off another in match. In his words “is next week too soon?” Except it’ll have to wait til next month remembering Mayhem is banished from the GWF. Hopefully it’ll happen with a special match flavour added.
Splatter over Skinhead by DQ. Skinhead returns from a long, long injury lay off to face his attacker. Johnny Rocket keeping everything crossed he doesn’t sustain another bad injury. Claims there “is a CPC witch hunt against the Rocket Men, erm sorry, I mean new FDF”. Splatter turns his attention to Johnny “your a bad egg. Maybe I should let Arsenal loose on you”. As Johnny backs away with Splatter coming towards him it gives Skinhead the opportunity to jump him from the side. Of course Splatter fights back but it showed that Skinhead was not messing around. He was prepared to fight dirty to survive. It wasn’t that great a match. Both unable to get the upper hand and it dragged a bit. Not a single pin attempt made. Inevitably it spilled from ring where Skinhead decided to try and give Splatter a little taste of his own medicine. Grabbing Johnny’s mic and ramming into the crotch of Splatter. Means a DQ loss but you got the sense that wasn’t important to Skinhead. He departed with Johnny Rocket satisfied he had left Splatter breathless in the ring.
Rack beats Thunder by DQ. Would this match the carnage of the last bout between Desolation Factor and the Gladiators on Deimos? Ruin and Overkill join the respective managers/bodyguards at ringside. Never more than a metre apart. No question Thunder is the superior wrestler. Several pin attempts and using THE TEMPEST twice. Rack kept in it though largely down to Ruin. Of course any trips out the ring got the partners involved. So when Rack bailed out and was sniffing around objects for weapons Overkill attacked him. Ruin and Thunder then piled in and it was a brawl to the back

Latest News:
US. Patriot wrote himself into the record books for all the wrong reasons. Quickest match ever. Caught out by being late to the opening match he walked straight into a Cyborg Clothesline from Colussus at the start of the Champions-Penthouse Suite match. Pinned in just 4 seconds. Can’t see that ever being beaten. Luckily the Champions recovered sufficiently. Led by Pegasus they marched to a brilliant victory. Star Warrior gave them more reasons to cheer by getting a handle on his stress and kicking the booze habit. Hopefully onwards and upwards. No reason why he cannot emulate the managerial achievements of his famed father, Omega. Just needs to believe in himself. What with this win it actually puts the GWF in a pretty strong looking position. They blitzed Penthouse Suite and control 7 of the 10 available belts across the two organisations. Can they keep this going?
Penthouse Suite continues the trend of Battlezone matches as they will now encounter the Gladiators. There is plenty of pressure on Thantos. Especially after the loss to the Champions. His bosses have been pouring resources into this team. More money being thrown at the wrestlers to ensure they stay onboard this year and beyond. Plus a dedicated gym built at the Palace exclusively for their use. Colby and Pelf will continue to expect big returns on their investment.
There was an amazing scene at Pelf Palace as Wolf won the CPC Heavyweight belt. A rude shock for Colby and Pelf. They have warned there will be tough sanctions if he desecrates the belt or fails to defend it according to their demands. They will be busily meeting Commissioner Grogan lining up guys to take it off him. Grogan apparently favours pushing new guy Colussus (although his holding of the Interstellar belt might make that unfeasible), Colby prefers old favourites Paragon and Matador whilst Sonora Pelf fancies letting the Outcasts loose and giving one of them a push. That’s before even any GWF guys are considered. It will be interesting to see who the first challenger to Wolf will be.
Mandrill is laughing at the form of Chaos. The big man was making noises about challenging for the title again but then went and lost to Nefarus to continue a poor start to 2107. He sees him as very little threat now. Of course Chaos isn’t about to cave in and cites shady officiating for his latest loss. He is still confident when they face off again that he will prevail. The only problem Mandrill might have is the rising prominence of Nefarus. His win over Chaos could muddy the waters and give Nefarus future impetus as a singles star. Outwardly the right hand man of Mandrill but in reality subservient. Ideally Mandrill needs Nefarus successful in tag teaming and out of the singles picture.
Johnny Rocket is a work obsessed freak according to Qualitar who accuses him of trying to impress and join the CPC, “the guy is jealous of my role as the greatest pundit in the cosmos. Keeps showing up at the Palace scrounging for work”. Johnny bites back with claims Qualitar is blackmailing him about Kronoscam (remember that?) in order to make him stay away from the CPC but he has no evidence and besides he wouldn’t ever want to work for “an organisation destined to fail”. This media feud between the two media personalities is almost a entertaining as the wrestling itself.
Next big event in the calendar is FESTIVAL OF FIRE. Involving a dangerous trip to Brymstone where the new speciality of Anarchy will be showcased. It’s a Total Anarchy match. Is Archon digging his own grave by agreeing to it? The main event will see Pegasus challenge Mandrill again for the Heavyweight title. It will be a Scorpi King of the Ring match. Mandrill calls it his speciality but he already lost his first one against Blizzard. He’ll need to be much better than he was in that to keep hold of his belt. Plenty more matches to be booked over coming weeks but these two are sure to be most talked about.
INJURED – Amazonia (1), Bishop Hell (7); SUSPENDED – Thrash (3)
WRESTLER OF THE MONTH:
PEGASUS - He had a real busy month but won all his matches (6 in all). His run against Penthouse Suite in the Battlezone match was the most impressive feat of all. Surely he is heading towards Heavyweight belt glory again.
TAG TEAM OF THE MONTH:
THE CENTAURIANS - For just continuing to be a really solid team. When they won the tag belts nobody expected their reign to last. But here they are still holding the belts and at the same time being great role models.

Wow! A lot to digest! I am shocked (and kinda thrilled) that Ursa Major retained against Enigma! I have always cheered for the former enhancement talent. Love the name you have for Splatter and the Sheik...Butcher's Delight is spectacular!

Cheers mate. I cannot take credit for Butcher's Delight. Unfortunately I cannot remember where else I saw it used but I thought it fit them perfectly

CARD 973 – DEIMOS INTERGALACTIC ARENA:
Interplanetary champ, Painmaster, in good form to see off Wraith. Some people think Wraith should now set his sights higher than the IP belt but he seems drawn to it. As soon as Painmaster won it again it was inevitable Wraith would get pushed as the next challenger. Vertigo called this a very important moment. With the Colonizers holding both major GWF singles belts and Rebel Empire closing in on the tag titles it is imperative they get the IP belt off them “before they get too strong”. It’s a topsy turvy match. Every time one of them looks like they are getting a run of offence together they either make a mistake or someone from outside does something to change things. The ending was typical of how most of the match had run. A blunder from Wraith as he whips Painmaster into the ropes and drops his head way too early. Gets wasted with a piledriver as a result. Painmaster doesn’t hang about after this and gets him up in THE TORTURE RACK and it wins him the match. There was a rude shock afterwards for Painmaster as Blizzard stormed the ring. Probably not pre planned as Vertigo looked confused at his sudden appearance. He took Sentry out with an ice ball. Then grabbed a shocked Painmaster and planted him head first into each of the turnbuckles. Didn’t stop there as he then strangles Painmaster with his frosty hands and repeatedly smashes his head backwards into the mat. It takes Vertigo to bring the unscheduled attack to an end “enough Blizzard. Don’t come down to their level”. He reluctantly releases. Damage done to Painmaster was a 2 card injury. The Colonizers demand disciplinary action against Blizzard but it is not deemed serious enough for action. Amid all this had to feel sorry for Wraith. In one breath he is being mentioned as a future Heavyweight champ but now he fails to win the IP belt and is taking a huge rankings hit. Maybe one day Wraith will make that push for the Heavyweight belt and scratch that itch. But for now he has some damage to repair.
Thunder and Overkill defeated Rebel Empire by DQ. Massive top contender match. Uneasiness for Mandrill as the Colonizers and Gladiators are brought into direct conflict again. Unavoidable in the chase for titles though. Nefarus engages in some trash talking with Overkill to start things off. But Overkill is a man of few words. He shoves Nefarus in the face sending him crashing into Vendetta. But Vendetta is so big and strong that Nefarus just bounces off him. So then Thunder flies in from the side with a cross body and this time both members of Rebel Empire go down like dominos. It’s clear the Gladiators mean business. After this feisty start things settle down. Lots of tags and very even. Things get more interesting when the two power guys enter the ring and they wage quite a war. During their battle Sentry took a big risk by attacking Overkill when the action came near him. It gave Vendetta a big opportunity of offence which he attempted to take with THE BIG FALL. But Overkill powerfully kicked out. Vendetta looked irritated by this and threw Overkill back outside. However he made the mistake of going after him. The brave ref tried to keep the match flowing and makes an attempt to stop him. Suffice to say he was shoved aside which sent him sprawling. Worst thing you can do is manhandle an official. Especially under the watch of Commissioners Morpheus and Omega. Instant DQ. The Gladiators go to the title match. Perhaps not in the manner they prefer but it represents a big chance to rule the tag ranks again. Feels like it’s been a long time.
Just scratching my head over Rebel Empire. Anytime they get within sniffing distance of the tag belts they seem to blow it. On paper they are one of the best, if not the best, tag teams but they keep choking and so far have never held gold together.
Brainstorm beats Pegasus in one of the biggest ever upsets. Brainstorm heats this up by slapping Pegasus across the face for coming onto Maxine Babe. Pegasus tries to stay calm but a slap would wind up even the most mild mannered. He grabs Brainstorm by the throat and screams “that slut is the one coming onto me. But I’m not surprised as you’re nothing but a spoiled brat that doesn’t respect women”. After that he starts to kick Brainstorm’s butt. Looks like his might polish this off in just a few moves but Brainstorm hangs in there. The minutes tick by and the anxiety starts to set in as Brainstorm starts to make a fight of it. A critical moment then happens as Maxine Babe gets up on the apron and bares her breasts. Pegasus stops in his tracks and that allows Brainstorm to ambush him. Then comes THE BRAINSTORMER and although Star Warrior tried to protest to the ref his pleas are ignored. Pegasus falls to the move. He tried to put a foot on the rope but Maxine had sneakily knocked it off. The ref had taken a mental note of her position but then let himself get distracted by Darla and missed it. It’s not the only freaky result of the night. At the conclusion Maxine waits for Pegasus to recover and makes a move on him but gets pushed off and falls to the ground. She yells up at Pegasus “you dirty lying b*stard. You showered me with gifts and said you’d fallen head over heels in love with me. Promising that we’d be together once you beat him up”. She gets up and tries to plant her stiletto into his crotch but he catches her foot. Pegasus then scoops her up and looks like he might bodyslam her until a crucial moment of self-realisation stops him. Plants her firmly back on her feet and she then runs off sobbing. Pegasus now angrily leaves the scene of this massive upset. But what of Maxine? After that episode Brainstorm may not want her back.
Heracles coasts to a win over US. Patriot. Although Anaxis was staying very quiet for this one female intuition from Ms. Liberty still senses something foreboding. Yells up at Adam that he needs to get this done fast as something bad is about to happen. In his haste he missed a deathjump and then got smashed with OLYMPIA a couple times to give Heracles an easy win. Barely a minute after the final bell Colussus makes an appearance. But his target is Heracles. In truth Colussus could of attacked either one of them. Adam recovers and doesn’t stand idly by as this happens. He jumps into the melee and a three way brawl takes place. Security at GWF shows has been pretty good so far this year but they are slow to react here. Chairs are being used and objects busted over heads. All three of them taking visible damage before things are brought under control. Plenty of blood in that one. After a quick clean up operation the show goes on.
Talon and Dragonmaster beats Enigma and Lycosa in just 2 moves. Enigma and Lycosa have quite an intense rivalry as they try to outdo each other in singles competition. Darkos is clearly hedging his bets by putting them out as a team again. His front is to say their rivalry is good as it pushes them onto greater things but they can still work well as a team (even though they are no longer officially registered and have dropped the Assassin Air Raid name). But it doesn’t look good as Lycosa ignores a high five from Enigma. Maybe he didn’t see it but either way Enigma is left hanging and looking dumb. Maybe that was playing on his mind as he just didn’t see Dragonmaster coming. Finding himself pinned in just two moves with the good old Titan Drop doing the deed. Maybe they should just stick to singles.
Mutant pinned Scion Nexus. Scion almost a forgotten figure. Barely been on TV. Been wrestling mainly dark to build up singles pedigree. This is pretty dangerous. Wrestling Mutant is like playing Russian roulette as you never know if the Terrorists will show up. To Scion’s horror they emerge with Mutant. Pulling it by a crude rope tethered round its neck. But barely halfway down the runway Mutant chomps through it and is released. Runs at Scion moaning. You could almost see the cogs turning in Scion’s mind ‘do I stand my ground or get the hell out of here?’ Thankfully he chooses the latter. Meeting the onrushing Mutant with a spectacular flying head scissors. However his time ontop doesn’t last. The Terrorists make their mark when Scion tried to pin Mutant. One distracted the ref and the other one attacked him with a billy club. Mutant then hits an instinct driven running clothesline for good measure and is able to understand it’s a good moment to cover for the victory.

CARD 974 - DEIMOS INTERGALACTIC ARENA:
Thunder and Overkill steamrolled the Centaurians to once again win the belts and rule the tag ranks. Talisman is pessimistic about his team’s chances of coming through this still holding the belts telling his interviewer “we had a good run as champions”. Not exactly the fighting talk fans want to be hearing but the Centaurians have been punching well above their weight for a long time now. The pair of them looked twitchy from the start. With a big meeting with Lower World incoming at the Battle Dome they are on high alert to a possible attack to weaken them ahead of it. Although logically even the Brymstonians wouldn’t be so daring as to ruin a Gladiator title shot, or would they? But even if the Brymstonians had been planning anything there was no time to strike. It was over in the blink of an eye. Three moves to be exact. Talisman’s assertions their days as champions were numbered proving spot on. It went wrong the moment he tried a short clothesline on Overkill in the first move of the match. Just bounced off as if he’d hit a brick wall. Overkill scoops him into a powerful bear hug and extends an arm to tag Thunder. He is still impressively able to apply tremendous crushing pressure with one arm. Thunder enters the ring and Overkill releases Talisman. Blade can see they are about to go for DECAPITATOR. His pin save is futile. Thunder was ready for him and and blasts him with a flying shoulder block as he climbed through the ropes. The Gladiators are then able to perform their finisher undisturbed. Talisman is easily pinned and the titles switch hands. Barely hours after this happened there are noises coming out of the CPC. Commissioner Grogan invites them to come to Pelf Palace and add the CPC tag belts to their collection.
Enigma quickly beats Ursa Major to become the new Cruiserweight champion. Calmness in the Masked Assassins after some heat between Enigma and Lycosa dissipates. Lycosa agrees to step out the way so Enigma can pursue the GWF Cruiserweight belt if he gets a clear run at the CPC Cruiserweight belt. Success in these brackets will help Darkos get over the disappointment of Manslaughter recently dropping the IP belt. It would be about time too as Lycosa and Enigma are seen as the most talented cruiserweights but being accused of underachieving. Darkos is pretty busy. He is harassing Lord Nexus at every opportunity. The goading is so intense that some of the fans urge Lord Nexus to sort him out. Every man has a breaking point. Some comment from Darkos about his wife being a whore triggers Lord Nexus. He gives him a Titan Drop to shut him up. Shame things don’t go so well in the ring for Ursa Major. He immediately missed a turnbuckle charge as Enigma sprang up, using the ropes as leverage, with a spectacular leapfrog. He landed ontop of the turnbuckle. It was amazing balance and agility. Ursa Major tried to pull him down but is easily pushed back into the ring. A hard fall that leaves him groggy. Slowly Ursa Major rolls under the ropes and falls into to the floor. Hoping for words of wisdom from his manager. Nothing doing as Lord Nexus was busily sorting out Darkos at this point. It just gets worse as he clambers to his feet with the help of the ring apron only to feel the impact of FEET OF FURY in his face. Then gets gathered up so Enigma can pin him and take custody of the Cruiserweight belt. All done in just three moves.
Max Shield heaps misery on Paragon by beating him in a match where Massif was the referee. Thantos was making plenty of fuss, “Massif as the referee was not what was agreed”. Massif steps forward “maybe you didn’t read the small sprint”. Thantos points a finger up at him “don’t be smart with me, I beat you many times in the ring. We deserve a fair match here”. Massif looks pretty ticked off that his good name is being questioned “what are you insinuating?” The pair of them look about ready to roll back the times and go at it but cool heads prevails and they are parted. Max Shield kept his distance whilst this was all going on. Patiently waiting for his chance. A lot going through his mind. One of the most popular guys around but often overshadowed by his other team mates and always labelled as the great underachiever. Perhaps a big win over Paragon could change all that and set him on a path to glory. Becomes a long, long match but notable for several things. First that despite the match length Paragon didn’t manage a single pin attempt. Perhaps down to Max using his shield mutation ability perfectly, it rarely failed him. Secondly, there was a dramatic incident where Massif gave Paragon the VOLCANIC DROP. Massif was very fussy about any deathjump attempts or leaving the ring. Paragon got frustrated and gave him a shove for which he paid dearly. Finally the fact Max won. It took him a while and we saw MAXIMUM IMPACT more than once but the move finally finished Paragon off. It was a fitting outcome because Max was the better wrestler throughout but his trouble to finish off had everyone fearing Paragon would end up prevailing. Luckily that was not the case. As the realisation dawns Thantos says “FFS” under his breath. Maybe he is feeling the heat after some poor results and currently having only 1 minor title within his team.
Pulsar vanquished Defender of the Realm. Some classic heel style bragging from Defender ahead of this face versus face match. I suppose it’s more natural from Defender as he has a habit of switching sides. Not sure if he’s joking when saying of his spear “I’m going to stick this where the sun don’t shine”. Unfortunately comments like that get taken seriously because he’s not the most trusted guy around with his Jester persona still causing unease. The distrust is a source of frustration for his mate Jack who wants everyone to give Defender a break. Doesn’t help that Pulsar still sees him as a scummy heel and says ACID RAIN will be in play. The fans enjoy the horse play and don’t discriminate. Cheering in equal measure for each guy initially. A decent contest ensues. Both are very similar physical attributes which makes it hard to call. Defender is able to strike first as he launches DEFENDER CANNON a couple of times but it doesn’t yield victory. After this Pulsar is under the cosh and has to rely on his penchant for hardcore to pull him back. Some out of ring action gives him a springboard to comeback. Then a handspring elbow had Defender wobbling. True to his word Pulsar then throws ACID RAIN. Scattered booing for doing so but Pulsar didn’t care. In his mind he was doing it to Jester and not Defender. The burning pain overwhelms Defender and Pulsar casually rolls him up to take the win.
Wolf and Amazonia beat Heracles and Anaxis by DQ in mixed tag. Heracles unhappy to be lumbered with this rematch. Wolf probably not super enthused either but there is a score to settle. The good news though is that Amazonia seems to be fully healed. Scars barely visible, maybe some clever makeup in play although she’s not really the type to dabble in all that. A natural beauty embedded within her aggressive warrior like persona. Given that the women were the main reason for this feud they were expected to take centre stage but disappointingly they never got inside the ring. Heracles started off against Wolf. Barely a minute gone that Wolf flew over the ropes after a failed crossbody. Heracles followed him out and in a move that smacked of ‘I can’t be bothered with this’ picked up a chair to lay Wolf out. He then beckons Anaxis and leaves. Amazonia tends to Wolf rather than follow for revenge. Wonder if the GWF will try and pull the plug on this feud. The mixed matches are hardly setting things alight.
Dreadnaught defeated the Creeper. Sad to see Dreadnaught in this curtain jerking role. Nonetheless he is getting on with it and hoping a team will eventually take him on. In his weakened state he’s still too good for the Creeper. Once again GUIDED MISSILE lacks the punch to get a pin but a Terror Face Claw proved enough to stop the Creeper. Notable that Dreadnaught got a lot of sympathetic cheering from the crowd despite his shady past.

CARD 975 – PELF PALACE:
Once again the man on the street is being frozen out by the CPC. The clash between Penthouse Suite and Gladiators is seen as massive. Ticket prices hiked and priority given to celebs and wealthy friends of the owners. There are some tickets exchanging hands on the black market but these are also going for exorbitant sums. Unfortunately one of the goals of Mr. Colby and Ms. Pelf is to make the fed a playground for only the rich and famous.
Mayhem made sure Wolf has a short lived reign by beating him to become CPC Heavyweight champion. Huge surprise that Mayhem is elevated to the title match by the CPC. It had been expected that the big man, Paragon, would attempt to resume his position as the top guy. But a main event between these two bitter enemies over the belt had the powers that be salivating. Plus they saw the $$$ signs. Paragon is appeased by being told he was desperately needed to help the team in their Battlezone match with the Gladiators (although that didn’t go well). Also given promises that he is the guaranteed next in line contender. The policy of CPC guys only having to defend every other month would be broken if Mayhem becomes the champ to accommodate this. He should count himself lucky given his wretched form. Up in the gallery Sonora Pelf almost spits her champagne out as Wolf emerges swinging their precious CPC belt wildly about. Too much for her to take when added to the earlier events. It is not being given the respect it deserves and there are genuine fears it’ll be used as weapon if Mayhem comes out chain in hand. The belt won’t stand up too well to a chain. There is almost a sigh of relief when Wolf throws it down on the ground before entering the ring. A grateful staff member scoops it up and places atop a cushion on the announcer’s table. Wolf, by this time, is stood on the bottom rope screaming towards the end of the carpeted runway “show yourself Mayhem. Let’s paint the town red with our blood”. Mayhem obliges and comes charging through the curtain towards the ring. The chain is out. Wolf rushes to meet him and the pair of the grapple over the chain in the runway. At one point it is wrapped like a noose around Wolf’s neck but he forces a break by wrapping part of it around his fist and punching Mayhem off him. The two hardcore icons then grow tired of this toy and the chain is discarded. Time to take their battle into the ring. Once in there it’s a lot less exciting though. No more blood is spilt and they are cancelling each other out. They didn’t even deviate from the ring. After several minutes of nothing Mayhem pins Wolf out of nowhere. One of those surprise snake eyes rolls. He’d performed a Cobra Clutch Suplex and it must of been an awkward landing for Wolf as he doesn’t respond. The belt changes hands again. Honestly never saw Mayhem ever wearing this thing. The VIP gallery probably feeling the same. They applaud the new champion but will be secretly hoping Paragon will step up next month and resume normality. Wolf unusually quiet in the aftermath. His pursuit of the CPC belt had been relentless but as soon as the goal was achieved it seems interest in it was lost. Highly doubtful he will come after it again anytime soon. Although more meetings with Mayhem a certainty and when they happen hopefully they’ll be a lot more exciting than this.
CPC Cruiserweight champ, Brainstorm, takes a loss to Lycosa by DQ to protect the belt. The CPC is determined that Brainstorm loses belt as soon as possible. They see him as little more than a curtain jerker and cannot believe he is tainting their title. When Prodigy abdicated it had never crossed their mind that he might win it and worse still successfully defend it. The fact he only recently beat Pegasus has made very little impression on them. His opponent, Lycosa, is under pressure to emulate Enigma. His team mate has successfully grabbed the GWF version. Darkos demands of Lycosa that he win here to give the Masked Assassins total domination of this weight bracket. But Brainstorm is high on confidence and not going to give this thing up easily. Maxine Babe has been a real focal point in the storylines of late and is creating more mischief. Parading herself in front of Lycosa distractingly. Meanwhile Darla starts a cheerleading skit. Waving those pom-poms. She playfully taps Lycosa with one and he goes down like a ton of bricks. What was in that thing? The confused ref now starts the match with Lycosa at an immediate disadvantage. Struggling to shake off the effects of that strike. Lycosa comes under some early pressure and several minutes in he has to lean heavily on Darkos. A distraction saves his bacon after THE BRAINSTORMER. This flirtation with defeat proved to be a wake up call. Lycosa comes back and turns on the style. Now it’s the turn of Brainstorm to receive assistance. Maxine Babe diverting the ref’s attention after BLACK WIDOW’S BITE is used against Brainstorm. Despite that it now looks like there can be only one winner. But Lycosa doesn’t count on those mysteriously lethal pom-poms. He got caught in no man’s land outside the ring. Darla runs at him giggling before striking at him again. It’s a knockout blow. Darkos protests foul play and the ref investigates. Inside the one of them taped to Darla’s knuckles are electrified brass knuckles capable of administering high voltage shocks. The plan now rumbled leads to a DQ against Brainstorm. Justice prevails but it won’t do Lycosa much good as he won’t win the belt. Ordinarily he should get a rematch but this is the CPC and nothing is guaranteed. The fact Prodigy is rumoured to be sniffing around his belt again won’t help much either.
Gladiators of Aethra win big against Penthouse Suite in an 8 Man Battlezone. Commissioner Grogan wants this hugely anticipated match up to go off as safely and cleanly as possible. Therefore any non-managers are to be considered as interlopers and banned from ringside. Thantos gets to stay but Thrash is not considered a manager. Instead her status is more akin to slave/bodyguard and her presence is blocked. Although the CPC sometimes does not enforce suspensions levied by the GWF at Pelf Palace they are also using Thrash’s suspension in that organisation as a tool to have her barred. She instead tries to melt into the crowd but remain close enough to maybe find a gap in the barriers and storm the ring. But she sticks out like a sore thumb and is ordered to leave Pelf Palace otherwise the match will be forfeited. It is bold from the CPC to risk such aggravation with the Gladiators but they are determined not to be bullied by them. Unfortunately such measures proved futile as the Gladiators win quite easily. They had 3 wrestlers spare by the end. A very successful card and overall month for them. It was very noticeable that Thantos looked under stress. He wasn’t clean shaven for the match and at no point did he appear relaxed … Malice opened with a stunning win over Colussus. Done in just two moves. Colussus got caught with a surprising technical move as a rope whip ended disastrously. He dropped his head early, Malice put the brakes on and stunned him with a roll up. Colussus had made a strong start to life as a CPC member but it’s fading slightly now. At least he can brag he’s the only Penthouse Suite actually holding any good at the moment … Malice beats Janus. Penthouse Suite now given a real mountain to climb after that elimination. Janus wrestled better than he has in a long time but still cannot stop the juggernaut that is Malice. He gets smashed with FIELDS OF MALICE (+4). Thantos also took a pretty big bump for trying to interfere after it … Matador of M83 overcame Malice. By this time Malice was looking pretty spent. During the battle Thantos dared to attack Malice with Satanic Skull Smasher. Got away with it. Malice is then put back in the ring where BULLWHIP finishes him off … Thunder impressively defeats Matador of M83. Great contest. Thunder’s high tempo style eventually overwhelms Matador. He used THE TEMPEST to get the pin. Disapproving looks from the VIP gallery towards Thantos. Should he of done more to try and stop that happening? Penthouse Suite on the brink of defeat now. Maybe it’s time for Paragon to deliver on all his big talk and rescue this … Thunder beats Paragon by DQ. Carnage. Perhaps realising the outcome was inevitable Thantos attacks Thunder outside the ring and applies MASTERLOCK. Even at Pelf Palace such a blatant act cannot be ignored or there would be a media outrage. Paragon joins the attack and is stomping Thunder whilst he is trapped. The other Gladiators rush the ring on seeing this happen which in turn brings out the other Penthouse Suite guys. Total chaos as all of them brawl to the back including Thunder who is now on his feet albeit limping. Sonora Pelf almost feints on sight of this as she fears for the damage such a brawl would do to the Palace interiors and furnishings. Magnus Colby thinks swiftly and despatched a team of security armed with tasers to sort it out. Commissioner Grogan also warned fines all round in the aftermath. Fair to say the war which had been simmering between CPC and the Gladiators has well and truly begun after that.
Spike rolls back the years to beat Terminus in a cage match. Spike excuses him from the Battlezone match against Penthouse Suite. The chance to take on Terminus in a cage too good to miss. With possible future cage meetings with old adversaries Wolf and Mayhem to come it’s great practise. Terminus is already inside as Spike enters the cage. As the door is shut behind him Spike smiles and shouts “I’m home”. If that was an attempt at intimidation it doesn’t work as Terminus strides straight over in attempt to plant him into the cage sides. Guess we’d all forgotten Terminus had endured a gruelling 10 special matches challenge against Wolf last year. So there was no way he wouldn’t have the stomach for this. As he grabs hold of Spike he taunts “you shouldn’t of come back, you passed your expiry date long ago”. But as he goes to bury Spike’s face an arm comes up to block and Terminus got planted instead. It signifies a strong start by Spike and he inflicts 3 fatigue tokens of damage without reply in the opening minutes. Terminus threatens a comeback though and HAMMERLOCK SLAM gives him an escape chance. He barely got a foot out the door though when Spike forcefully pulls him back. Terminus should of turned and dealt more punishment but his persistence to get out just lets Spike recover his stamina and launch a second big offensive wave. It came as no surprise this culminated in the legendary MEGADESTROYER. It’s still almost as devastating as it was when Spike was in his prime. Terminus has no chance after that and Spike strolls casually out the cage door dusting his hands off in a ‘that was easy’ manner.
Prodigy over Halcon Oro by forfeit. Disastrous. Halcon Oro has drawn superlatives for the most part. But after a failed title bid has lost momentum. Looks like he was keen to get that back with a big match against one of the top guys in CPC, Prodigy. However a death defying move ends in leg break horror. He missed the mark after mounting the turnbuckle in an attempt to fly at Prodigy who was arriving outside the ring but still quite a distance away. Was trying to surprise him by getting the first move of the match in before the bell. Many of his moves leave little margin for error. Halcon Oro had a leg extended and it impacts violently against the crowd barrier. Legs just don’t bend that way and a sickening snap is heard. Maybe he was trying too hard to make his mark in the CPC which is why he took such a risk. The match is ended before it even had a chance to start and medics swarm around him. Halcon Oro is screaming. The grisly sight of his leg kept covered by a sheet. It takes several minutes before everything is set and Halcon Oro can be stretched away. He was being given gas to help deal with the pain. Prodigy is given the win by forfeit.
CPC Lottery against X-Termination ends in a wild double DQ. The feud between Splatter and Skinhead resonates into this match. Skinhead, having already wrestled, brokers a deal to be at ringside instead of Johnny Rocket. It disturbs Splatter greatly for he becomes fixated on Skinhead at times. But when he does get his attention on the match he is brutal. Struck with MEET ARSENAL twice and also THE SHREDDER on Sleeze. Gets away with the illegal hits. No surprise there but Skinhead played a part in keeping Sleeze in it and he also remarkably kicked out after one of the strikes with the club. Big turning point comes when Vyper finally gets some ring action. He tried a pin himself on Sleeze but Grunge caused a distraction. It gave Sleeze a chance to recover and use METALHEAD MAULER. A very sudden turnaround. Vyper survives that move only to be subjected to it again shortly after. At this point bedlam. Splatter storms the ring which draws both Skinhead and Grunge in too. Massive brawl and no chance for the ref to call for anything but the bell.
Awesome Studs overcame the Stormtroopers. Interesting match as Dynamo faces his former partner Powerhouse. Both hellbent of proving who is stronger. There is also some interesting stuff going on between the two managers. Cassandra was getting Reynard B. Guile all hot under the collar by offering up her dominatrix services after the show for a reduced price. Perhaps she needed to keep better attention on what was going on inside the ring. Her troopers were in control at first. Appearing far better drilled. But as she let her attention wander Powerhouse drops the baton. A Dynamo Rib Crusher impressively applied to his huge frame. Hammer moved to try and break the hold. Climbing to the top turnbuckle and lining up a drop kick from there intending to get Dynamo from behind. He hits the mark but Dynamo stays holding on and the impact sends both crashing towards the opposite turnbuckle. It’s a double impact on Powerhouse. A horrified Hammer is now ushered back to his corner and the ref slides in to make the three count in favour of the Studs. I think Hammer needs some time on the naughty boy step for blowing this one. Am sure Cassandra has got one of these.
Skinhead beats Monad by DQ. Memories of Monad’s humiliating loss to Gila still raw. Even though Skinhead is a far superior wrestler another pin fall defeat for Monad might kill his chances of getting much more action at Pelf Palace this year. CPC doesn’t take kindly to having losers on their roster especially given what it pays them. Add to that the fact Monad should he performing far better than at anytime in the past due to the rules on pinning him being made harder at the venue. Luckily Monad negotiates a shaky start and is far more intimidating and able to dominate Skinhead. But he still stumbled to a DQ loss because the referee was a known stickler. Zero tolerance to virtually all out of ring antics of which Monad was guilty of having followed a scrambling Skinhead outside, tossing Johnny Rocket aside in the process, and using his four arms to grab two chairs at once. The improved performance set to allow some breathing room for Monad but still remains under pressure to start picking up some wins. In fact there is pressure on the whole Transevolver team because Desolation Factor hasn’t exactly hit the ground running either.

CARD 976 – FESTIVAL OF FIRE 7 – BRYMSTONE BATTLE DOME:
The Battle Dome provides its usual intimidation. Smoke filled with loud noises and constant explosions among the violent crowd. Very few outside of Brymstone are brave enough to make the trip. Even the colour commentary team are doing their work from a remote location. Being on-site considered too dangerous to risk. It is notable that very few CPC wrestlers are on the bill. Commissioner Grogan having strongly suggested they do not go to Brymstone either. Citing the danger element but more likely it is to try and hurt the event. Pegasus dominates Mandrill in a Scorpi King of the Ring match to win the Heavyweight belt. Despite his lofty villainous status Mandrill has never had much joy with titles but with this reign, only his second ever, comes a chance to finally lay that ghost to rest by taking it into a fourth month. Beating off the ‘hero of heroes’ Pegasus will also add to his credibility as a champion and strengthen his position as the villain leader. But Pegasus, until the Brainstorm upset, had been in incredible form and is still the ‘hot’ favourite. General consensus is he’s still a cut above he rest. Pegasus ignores all the Brymstonian crowd hostility and gives his all from the opening bell. He is determined to stand alone in the ring at the end and provide an iconic image of himself holding the belt aloft whilst all hell breaks loose in the background behind him. Bit of a cagey start until first strike went to Pegasus when he hits PROJECT PEGASUS. After that Mandrill was in a really struggling position and offered very little offence. Pegasus was pretty relentless. At one point guilty of going for victory too early. In tossing Mandrill over the top rope he got surprised by a brief recovery and was pulled violently from the ring by his legs. Mandrill was trying to turn it into a brawl but Pegasus is too classy and gets the upper hand. Directs traffic back to the sanctuary of the ring. A few more big moves follow that included Tomahawk Thrust, a bone-crunching clothesline and Pegasus Press Slam. Now Mandrill looks ready to be tossed. Pegasus grabs him and takes a run towards the ropes and releases his grip at the perfect moment. Mandrill goes flying over and hits the glass barrier right where a gaggle of particulary demonic beings are behind. They enjoy the blood that gets left on the glass and try to lick it from the other side. Pegasus stands tall. No way Mandrill can recover. The GWF Heavyweight belt finally back round his waist after almost 2 years. Things really looking up for the Champions team now their big star is the top guy again. He doesn’t get long to savour for one of the glass barriers holding back the crowd finally gives way. Hordes of beasts flood through with no attempts made to stop them. Pegasus has to be quick to avoid the stampede and get away. Poor Mandrill got trampled under foot as he was still recovering. Left with some tender ribs to make a bad night worse.
Velar totally outwrestles Thrash to win the Ladies belt and become a double champion. The locals have been in the Dome a long time by now and grow restless. Explosions within are getting more frequent. Even Thrash looks uncomfortable which is a rare trait from an Aethran. But her rage is soon invoked when Velar jibes at Thrash jumping at one particulary loud explosion “what’s a matter scaredy cat?” Thrash’s facial expression changes and she makes a grab for Velar’s throat. Velar responds in kind. The Brymstonians are liking this show of violence and start to follow what’s going on. What they see is a wrestling masterclass from Velar. She handled Thrash’s aggression perfectly. Just dominating and methodically clocking up tokens. Even when Thrash tried to bring things outside and turn it into a brawling match she refused to get suckered in. Or when she was successfully lured out had more than enough to change style and go toe to toe. Finally she manages to put the finishing touches on a brilliant performance with HAMMERLOCK SLAM. The GWF belt is now hers to go with the CPC one. With so many of the Penthouse Suite misfiring Velar is now the most successful wrestler in the group. Just a shame she won’t get as much respect for a unique achievement as it would of done for one of their male wrestlers.
Lower World crushed the Centaurians in a Lepus Stun Rod match. The anger among the crowd had barely settled and now we have this. Maleph had already branded the Centaurians as cowards for not putting the belts on the line. At the time Talisman bit back that this was a lie. Says “I’m old school. The belts should be on line every time we wrestle. We are more than prepared to defend them on Brymstone but the Lower World are so lowly ranked that the GWF blocked such a move”. Whatever the truth was the reality is this was booked as non-title. Of course things changed between then and now as the Gladiators dethroned the Centaurians a couple cards back anyway. But for a feud as intense as this it never needed the carrot of the titles. Meetings between Brymstonians and Centaurians always mean much more than that. The early tactic had Talisman trying to shoulder much of the burden. With the intention to keep Blade as fresh as possible. He did a pretty good and even used AMULET DROP against Death’s Head. So when Blade is finally tagged in it’s from an advantageous position. But it’s almost as if Blade is overwhelmed by the hostility of the venue. He struggles immediately and finds himself under a FUNERAL MARCH barrage. A reversal on defence brings a brief respite and Blade is even lucky enough to get a hold of the Stun Rod but it got knocked straight out of his hand and went loose. Death’s Head uses those long fingers to get a hold of it as they scramble and zaps Blade in the side. As the youngster writhes around against the ropes Death’s Head nuts him with his finisher again. The pin then happens to trigger a cacophony of joyous explosions among the crowd. Talisman was helpless during this as Erebus was busy trying to tear him to shreds. It could of been worse for the Centaurians but they manage to get away safely after it ended. Heeding Archon’s instructions not to hang around any longer than is needed.
Archon stunned Anarchy in a Total Anarchy match. Is Archon dicing with death by taking this on? Both Pulsar and Blade had wanted to take this challenge on but Archon pulled rank. If anyone should be the guinea pig for such a dangerous match then he thinks it should be him. He walks through a cauldron of hate approaching the ring. The reinforced glass to hold the crowds back seems to be creaking under the pressure. All sorts of monstrosities are pressed up against it. One demonic figure is actually head butting the glass and leaves a red trail of blood up against it. With each impact it gives an evil laugh. Just painted the perfect picture of how unpleasant it is here. Archon acts very professionally and gets on with it. The bout spends a long, long time inside the ring. It is about ten minutes before any outside action. Archon is superior inside with all his submission moves but that will get him nowhere as it needs to be a pin outside. Finally a missed turnbuckle charge from Archon sent him flying out. Once that happened the match never made it back in. They traded offence all over the Battle Dome getting dangerously close to the locals many times. Incredibly Archon survived stepping on a mine during this time. But Anarchy wasn’t so lucky. When it’s his turn to feel the explosive shock it’s too much to take as the toll of all the earlier submission moves also set in. Anarchy drops to the floor and Archon takes an improbable pin on the runway to embarrass him at the home venue. Archon departs so fast he didn’t even hear his name being announced as winner. The damage done to Anarchy seemed severe. But the injuries were largely superficial and after a minute or two he clambers up. Makes his exit too but punches the reinforced crowd barrier glass several times in anger with his charred fists. Well it’s supposed to be reinforced although it looked like a hairline crack had appeared. For the safety of the remaining wrestlers I hope it holds up.
Aethran Dominance wins against Desolation Factor in a tough Titan Death match. Desolation Factor can hardly be described as wrecking machines by the way they’ve started in this dimension. But they certainly have the approval of the Brymstonians who enjoy their hulking look and style. Of course the Gladiators have always been popular here too. It gives for a unique atmosphere. The much awaited first meeting of Thunder and Overkill and Desolation Factor is still being teased. It will happen but the big question is where? The CPC and GWF will no doubt fighting over the rights to host that first clash. For now though this was pretty interesting. How would student and teacher fare against Desolation Factor? Their previous link up against CPC Rising hadn’t been too successful at the beginning of the year but in singles both have looked very strong. Immediately obvious both teams are really in the mood. Dishing big move after big move. This was much more like it from Desolation Factor. Showing the potential they clearly have to be big players. Ruin was particularly impressive as he had a period where he was laying siege to Malice. A run of moves that included Power Bomb Ruins, Mortal Agony and Demolition Factor had the young Gladiator in all sorts of trouble. But Malice was not giving in and fought back with great vigour. Rather than tag out for some much needed rest he stayed in and got his just reward. Rack was now in the ring and not doing as well as his partner. Got a timely pin save reprieve after FIELDS OF MALICE (+4) but this devastating move came his way again not too long after. This time Spike ensured Ruin wasn’t able to rumble things and Malice completed the pin. Another great win in a hugely successful month for the Gladiators. More disappointment for Desolation Factor but at least they looked a lot more dangerous here. Doomsayer is making lots of excuses for his new team saying the dimension switch has been unsettling for them. They need a period of acclimatisation before we see their true ability and once we do then the Gladiators will be doomed.
Dark Justice not only survived but won against Draconian Sheik in a Barbed Wire Cage match. After a bad start to the year Dark Justice took a brief hiatus to reset but now he is throwing himself back into the fire. Facing his nemesis Draconian Sheik in this place is quite the undertaking. At least the match rules prevented the Terrorists being at ringside. Drac was intrigued by the cage and gnaws at the barbed sides aggressively. His actions interrupted by a fire starting in the crowd which then gets his attention. He stares out with blood already dripping out his mouth. Justice takes this moment as his big chance to attack. Only for Drac to turn on him and start savaging. The colour commentators remark that “Justice made a big mistake agreeing to this” as he barely survives DRACONIAN BACKBREAKER. It only seems that it will get worse as Drac goes to throw him face first into the barbed sides. Suddenly Justice awakens. Gets a hand out to block the move shredding some skin against the barbs in the process. He then goes and reverses the move. Drac instantly split open. Justice doesn’t look back. Soon beats Drac black and blue with ROD OF JUSTICE. Then comes SHOCK PROBATION and Drac goes down with a whimper (Drac injured 5 cards).
US. Patriot defeated Chaos by DQ. Chaos disrespects Adam by moaning that he hasn’t been given a worthy opponent “I cannot believe I am taking a risk coming here only to wrestle that weakling”. Conveniently forgets Adam’s past championship pedigree. But Chaos thinks because Adam is not big or bulging with muscles he is not worth the time. Commander Sam urges Adam to make Chaos regret underestimating him. Adam responds to that order with a quick opening flurry. Chaos cannot seem to handle him as the pace is too hot. Even when Chaos did get a decent hold of Adam he drops the ball straight away. Whipping Adam into the ropes only to take his eye off things and drop for the backdrop too early. Adam puts the brakes and grabs Chaos for a falling face smash straight into the mat. Then so nearly gets a clean win after ADAM’S ATOMIC BLAST. Chaos only just pushed him off in time. It was so close that even in slow mo it wasn’t clear. After that near miss Chaos picked things up. Hit an Indestructible Drop and then started getting BOW OF DEFEAT going. Commander Sam is one of those hero managers that likes to get his hands dirty though and prevented this going too much further with two timely interventions. After the second one Adam managed to break the momentum and get away from the relentless rib crushing move. This obviously frustrated Chaos who felt victory was in his grasp and he’d been cheated. His response was to throw Adam from the ring and then use a chair. He rants “I’m still the baddest villain” as he swings away. Adam just about avoids taking a hit and under advice from Sam leaves the ring area. Chaos is left alone with his rage which is only fuelled when he learns he has lost by disqualification. He thought he had won by count-out as Adam had voluntarily departed.
Max Shield deserved more than to beat Nefarus by DQ only. Max gaining momentum. A win over Paragon set him on his way and now a chance to get at the traitorous Nefarus. Many fans would love to see him rewarded with a title shot should he triumph. If you ask many of them who they’d love to see get a title run it’s Max. He is so popular and has lots of bad luck. Wonder if Nefarus should be focusing more on his tag team exploits than singles. He may have a recent win over Chaos to brag about but Rebel Empire’s failure to ever win the tag belts is an albatross around the neck of the Colonizers. If Mandrill loses the Heavyweight belt later then the position of strength the team was in will be compromised. As they entered the month they had aspirations of ending it with the top 3 GWF titles but instead could easily end with just the 1. Anyway Max wrestles with great confidence and barely lays off Nefarus. Vertigo encourages him to go for his finisher early. Unleashes MAXIMUM IMPACT twice which Nefarus barely survives. Clearly Nefarus would rather take a DQ loss than suffer the ignominy of being pinned. He leaves the ring soon after this and orders Sentry to take Max out with a shot. Just as Sentry lines up Vertigo zips across and takes him out. Max wants to continue but the ref’s mind was made up to call the DQ for the threatening intent. Will be interesting to see if the GWF championship committee gives Max a title push now. If Mandrill is still Heavyweight champ after tonight the prospect of a main event match pitting Max against him might be too much to resist.
Pulsar pays a hefty price in beating Blazing Skull by DQ. It wouldn’t be a Brymstone show without Blazing Skull on the bill. He vows to make Pulsar wish he’d never returned to wrestling. Pulsar holds no fear even with the increased likelihood of Blazing Skull’s head exploding. Boldly proclaiming “I’ve been through too much in my career to let something like that frighten me. To come here and beat him will go down as one of the my greatest achievements”. Early dominance by Pulsar was soon snuffed out. Blazing gets ontop and urged by the evil Maleph and rowdy crowd decides to unleash DEATH BY FIRE with its maximum explosive force. The blast ravages Pulsar. An immediate DQ but Blazing just laughs. He is enjoying the suffering caused. Poor Pulsar is immediately smothered in a blanket to save his flaming body. The actions of some brave ringside officials were extremely quick and Pulsar was only engulfed for a few seconds. Nonetheless he doesn’t look too clever. Still moving but parts of his skin were smoking. He is whisked off for urgent medical treatment. Suffice to say the Brymstonian crowd loved what they saw. With two recent victims the dangers of facing Blazing Skull are now crystal clear. By and large the skullcap has done a good job of minimising the risk in the last few years but now it’s off things are very different.
Wolf savaged Dreadnaught. Wolf sympathises with Dreadnaught’s plight and wanted to wrestle a great opponent from his past on a big stage. Dreadnaught doesn’t appreciate the sympathy and spits right in Wolf’s face “I’m still a great wrestler and don’t need your pity”. Wolf doesn’t need riling up at the best of times but that move just signed Dreadnaught’s death warrant. Wolf snarls and leaps at Dreadnaught. The claws are out and Dreadnaught is in danger of getting this throat ripped out. Thankfully the worst that happens is a face rake. Not normally a move which finishes a match but it doesn’t take too much against the ageing Dreadnaught. Wolf brings his rage under control to pin him after that. He deems Dreadnaught unworthy of more punishment and leaves him to it. Maybe the Brymstonians will get to Dreadnaught instead. He needs to get himself out as best he can which isn’t easy when you’ve got no friends to call on.
Vengeance over Defender of the Realm by DQ. Vengeance calls a match with Defender two for the price of one. If Jester shows then he gets to savage CPC scum. If Defender shows as planned then he gets to carve up a goody two shoes hero. Vengeance stares down the curtain awaiting what will show. He didn’t need to even see as the monstrous wailing and disapproval of the crowd made it pretty clear Defender had emerged. Vengeance leaves the ring to meet him and says to a floating camera that gets too close to his face “this’ll be fun”. Commander Sam points to Vengeance and shouts “let’s fight this war fairly in the battleground of the ring” but Vengeance ignores and goes for Defender anyway. Poor Defender took quite the beating from here on. An early Eye Cleaver played havoc with his sight and the HELTER SKELTER served to really weaken him. The fact he survived them both was pretty impressive though although he can thank Commander Sam for one of those respites. Unfortunately Sam could do little to help Defender when he was tossed from the ring. With Vengeance menacingly moving towards Defender managed to grab his spear and use it to stall him. But that drew the DQ outcome. At least holding it out as a weapon gave both he and Sam a safe path out of the Dome.
Ninja Assassins stroll to victory over Hunters of Prey. The Hunters trying to bounce back. Having made a huge impression in their early matches they are now on a losing run. Could they show good intestinal fortitude to bounce back and get everyone raving again? Out of concerns for safety neither team has their manager’s with them. So no switching for the Ninjas. Doesn’t hamper them though. They are totally dominant. Daeman softened Wildcat up with IRON HAND a couple times. Then soon after comes DOUBLE EDGE SWORD for an easy win. Honeymoon period for the Hunters well and truly over now.

Latest News:
Halcon Oro is hoping to be back after his horror injury. It was a total freak accident but looked very nasty. Luckily the operation went well. Advances in medical technology mean severely broken bones can heal much faster than they used to. Could still be a 2 to 3 month lay off though. The miserly CPC refuse to bear any responsibility for what happened stating that as Halcon Oro is only on a part-time contract his expenses will not be paid. Secretly the GWF hopes that will push him closer to them. The talent is obvious and he’d be a great signing. But at the time of writing Halcon Oro is resisting any overtures that may or may not of been made. His focus is to return to Mexico and rehabilitate.
Heracles is making classic heel comments as he tries to push himself into the spotlight and criticise the new Commissioners. He hones in on Omega “I could write a book about the times spent with him and it’s not all good! The guy is corrupt and Morpheus won’t be able to control the favouritism shown to the Champions. Just look at how Pegasus continues to be pushed all the time”. Heracles has been linked with the CPC numerous times and one wonders if this is yet another move to try and tee something up so he can shift alliances.
Chaos is also giving the new Commissioners some grief. He just assumed with longtime rival Pegasus becoming Heavyweight champion again he’d be made the top contender despite his ropey results. But reputation counts for nothing with Morpheus. So Chaos was straight down to fed HQ. Banging on the door, getting all pushy and wanting to know why Vengeance and Max are the top contenders instead of him. There’s no treading on eggshells around Chaos though and the decision of Morpheus and Omega is no title shot. They said Chaos has lots of work to do to move up in the rankings and declare it is not up for negotiation. Chaos, like many others, calls them corrupt and thinks Morpheus holds too much of a grudge to treat him fairly.
Is Commander Sam beginning to regret allowing Johnny Rocket and Terak to assume the FDF identity? The team name is steeped in history but now being dragged through the mire by the two managers. They are going in different directions and the behaviour of Johnny’s guys can hardly be described as heroic. The recent actions of Brainstorm against Pegasus being a fine example. Whilst Sam thinks Terak is too peace loving to lead effectively. But as long as the common goal of taking on the CPC remains Sam cannot afford to intrude too much.
Maxine Babe is back in the arms of Brainstorm. Proud to be with the man she proclaims as the greatest and most handsome wrestler in the cosmos. That whole episode with Pegasus was, as claimed by Brainstorm, a ploy to expose him as a manhandler of women. The sobbing of Maxine in the aftermath merely crocodile tears. But I wouldn’t be so relaxed if I was Brainstorm. There is a whole boat of uncertainty surrounding Maxine. She will do anything to get attention and could easily drop him like a bad habit. During all of this Darla has done next to nothing. She is the ultimate airhead and still seems totally devoted to Brainstorm. Women problems aside Brainstorm is riding an amazing year. He still holds Cruiserweight gold and now has a win over Pegasus, albeit heavily assisted. Even if he does nothing else for the rest of his career he has exceeded all expectations. As for Pegasus. He has brushed off the defeat to Brainstorm as one of those once in a blue moon upsets. The last time he suffered such a surprise loss was to Dynamo shortly after his killer upgrade and move to the Champions. He recovered sufficiently to beat Mandrill for the Heavyweight belt. So no hangover suffered. Can he begin another strong reign? His last one spanned a very impressive period of 57 cards.
Significant moments? The Gladiators and Penthouse Suite violently brawl at the Palace after their Battlezone meeting. Then the Gladiators refuse to compete for CPC titles after Thunder and Overkill are offered a tag title match in a sneaky move by the CPC to unify the belts (and perhaps offer an olive branch). This won’t stop them continuing the war at Pelf Palace but Commissioners Morpheus and Omega are quietly happy about all that has happened. CPC Commissioner Grogan should of stayed quiet too but he reacts with “we don’t want that violent race associated with our belts anyway. Especially after the devastation they caused. But I am sure they’ll have a change a heart soon”. Probably not what his bosses would have wanted as it only further inflames the feud between CPC and the Gladiators. Even for a team as stacked with talent as the Penthouse Suite it is incredibly tough to deal with them and also the Champions. The GWF has placed great faith in both teams to carry the fight to the CPC. They have both scored dominating wins against Penthouse Suite in the Battlezone matches and made questions get asked of Thantos. For the first time in his short and very successful managerial career Thantos finds himself under some pressure.
Omega proposes big changes. He thinks the GWF might need new ideas to help stay afloat or even get the jump on the CPC. Mulling over introducing a league system to wrestling with wrestlers/tag teams all facing each other. Then the top ranked ones will be seeded in the end of year play offs. Much like some other popular sports like Gravity Ball. It would mean an end to the legendary GWF titles. Morpheus resists by telling him “you cannot reinvent the wheel. We need to stick with tradition”. On hearing this rumour many fans hated the idea and weren’t shy in venting on Spacebook but there were some that liked it. For now Omega has backed down but it could get brought up again in the future. Maybe a spin off could form. Watch this space.
Spike has issued cage match challenges to Mayhem and Wolf. Suffice to say he didn’t have to wait long for responses. Mayhem says “a match against Spike with those rules. Sounds right up my street. I accept” Spike might want to tread carefully. Mayhem is looking ominous after winning the CPC Heavyweight title. In fact Mayhem declares a desire to also go after the GWF belts and thinks his banishment should be lifted “how can they turn down the chance to have the CPC champion perform in their own venues? I long to spill blood on their turf”. But the Commissioners refuse to consider such an option and are all too aware of the problems this could cause with the Gladiators if they relaxed their stance.
It’s rare for a card to pass at the Brymstone Battle Dome without some kind of grisly incident. Unfortunately Pulsar suffers a fiery fate again. Blazing Skull thought ‘to hell with it’ and gave the full force of DEATH BY FIRE badly burning Pulsar. The injuries are pretty severe at 12 cards/3 months. But he will be thankful that this kind of synthetic fire has different properties to real fire and can be easier recovered from. Amazingly Pulsar can actually still wrestle during this time but will be badly hampered with strapping over various vulnerable areas. Being the sort of guy he now is this won’t keep him from the ring but the results will surely be affected. Having just learned that he has risen to the top contender spot for the IP belt it couldn’t of come at a worse time. The GWF had promised to punish Blazing Skull with suspensions for use of the move resulting in injuries. True to their word they have done so but the 2 card suspension seems pretty meagre.
INJURED – Bishop Hell (3), Draconian Sheik (5), Pulsar (12), Halcon Oro (?); SUSPENDED – Blazing Skull (2)
WRESTLER OF THE MONTH:
MAX SHIELD - He may never of won anything, other than a single IP belt reign that was over in the blink of an eye, but the guy is such a great ambassador for wrestling, peace, bravery. Just so many things. However nice guys don’t always get what they deserve. You got to start winning and doing what matters. Well finally this month it looks like that is happening with key wins over Paragon and Nefarus.
TAG TEAM OF THE MONTH:
THUNDER AND OVERKILL - A strong month all round for the Gladiators. Thunder and Overkill were particulary impressive in their march towards the tag titles. Plus Thunder featured prominently in the Battlezone victory over Penthouse Suite. This guy has the potential to become one of the all time greats with a glory filled singles career surely in his future.
