CARD 977 – RHEA FORUM:
Mutant shocked Enigma to win the Cruiserweight belt. No sign of the Terrorists but the warning lights are flashing for Darkos. He knows he is a big target of theirs. Enigma looks pretty uncomfortable too at the prospect of their possible arrival. He nearly got done in the first move of the match because he wasn’t concentrating properly. It takes a good few minutes before he is able to stave the wild Mutant off and have any meaningful offence. But it doesn’t last as the moment he was on top the thing he and Darkos feared happened. The Terrorists walk down the runway brandishing their billy clubs. However they don’t do an awful lot other than to stand and cause intimidation. The match goes on and Mutant has overwhelmed Enigma again. TEMPLE GRINDER is applied. Darkos bravely tries to save his man but now the Terrorists spring into action. Pulling him off the apron and setting upon him with their billy clubs. Back in the ring Mutant is still applying the move and Enigma submits to it. Stunned silence as Mutant becomes a champion. The ref hesitatingly hands it over but Mutant thinks it is a snack and starts chewing at the leather strap. The belt will be unable to stand up to Mutant’s antics and surely a new one will have to be created for the next holder when that happens.
Spike shows he has still got it by dominating Wolf in a cage match. It’s like stepping back in a time machine seeing these two lock up in a cage. Wolf loves a cage match but says of Spike “that old man is digging his own grave by stepping back in a cage with me. He should of stayed safe and retired”. Perhaps those words drove Spike on to prove him wrong. From the moment that cage door is closed Spike is like a man possessed. Wolf is shocked by the energy levels shown. Struggling to get much going himself. Even when it looked like Wolf had got through the initial wave and dishing a few moves it turned back the way of Spike quickly. Wolf had thrown Spike into the turnbuckle but his attempt to follow up went very wrong. Spike moved out the way and Wolf had really thrown himself at him kamikaze style. He cleared the turnbuckle and collided with the steel bars. Spike casually picks him up and sets in motion MEGADESTROYER. Wolf is left in a heap on the floor. As Spike ambles towards the door the crowd wills Wolf to recover. A dramatic comeback but there isn’t a flicker. Spike makes a huge impact with quite an easy win.
Vengeance overcomes Max Shield. Top contender match with a title match for the winner awaiting at SATURDAY NIGHT STARSLAMMERS. Very closely fought but you just always thought Vengeance had it in him to take it. He may be sick and twisted but can certainly wrestle when needed. Mixing up his sadistic moves with lots of technical stuff too. Max tried to use his shields effectively but it wasn’t enough. Vengeance eventually got him with HELTER SKELTER to earn the title shot. Will Max ever be able to capture the big one? He’s been in the GWF over 7 years now without managing to do so. His big rival, Mandrill, hasn’t exactly done great either but at least he beat Max to it and has won it twice in that time.
Rebel Empire crushed the Centaurians. Tough times for the Centaurians. Since dropping the tag belts they’ve slumped badly. This was their third loss in a row. It was another annihilation. Talisman got marooned. Couldn’t make the hot tag. He was on the end of EMPIRE TRIUMPHANT twice before he was pinned. Rebel Empire haven’t given up on their plans to win the tag belts themselves this year. Mandrill has told them “don’t worry about upsetting the Gladiators. I’ll deal with them if I have to. Just make sure you win those belts”. Of course the perfect scenario would be if the Ninja Assassins can upset the Gladiators later in the month. Mandrill knows Darkos is scared of him and that will make him easy to manipulate.
Frozen Fury totally owned Lower World. Vertigo seems to of calmed Blizzard down and got him back into making this tag team great again. The way they worked together to completely dominate Lower World shows they are worth persevering with. Buck set Death’s Head up nicely for Blizzard after rattling him with ROPE-A-DOPE FLURRY. Blizzard then came in and had a bit more of an extended battle with Death’s Head but got him beat with FROSTBITE. Notable that Maleph got himself ejected from ringside during the match. Didn’t go quietly but a security team, assisted by Vertigo, dragged him out.
Carnage makes a winning debut against Pollux. Not much known about this newcomer but the colour commentators remark his physical size and style is very similar to Mayhem. The same kinds of moves. But nothing is as it seems for Mayhem is part of a live promo coming out of Pelf Palace simultaneously. Sonora Pelf and Magnus Colby were being pictured in front of the entire CPC roster for the cover of the next GWI magazine. So it couldn’t be him, could it? Whoever it was, he dismantled Pollux with a move similar to LEAP OF DOOM. He had earlier clumsily missed with the move but recovered quickly enough to try it again a couple minutes later.

CARD 978 – RHEA FORUM:
Tag champs, Thunder and Overkill, mauled the Ninja Assassins. Seeing the Gladiators back at the top of the tag pyramid spells doom for the rest of the division. Any Aethrans are tough to beat but two in such high confidence means any opponent facing them has a mountain to climb. Ninjas decide attack is the best form of defence and just go for it straight away but just run into the brick wall that is Overkill. He swats away their exotic martial artistry with ease. Poor Daeman then gets isolated and the Gladiators take turns to punish him. When he is hit with DECAPITATOR Darkos foolishly distracts. He pays for that intrusion as Thrash clotheslines him from behind for pulling that stunt. Now rendered useless for whatever happens from that point. It just prolonged Daeman’s agony. A few minutes more and Overkill subjects him to TURNBUCKLE TRAP. Hydrax attempts a save but Thunder was alert to it and protects Overkill. A flying shoulder block enough to knock Hydrax back. Brought down the curtain on a dominating performance. Something tells me it’s going to take a hell of a performance from a team to get the belts off the Gladiators.
Chaos and Heracles just have too much power for Royal Flush. Chaos won’t of been happy to find himself mired in tag action but he does have an axe to grind with US. Patriot. They get the win thanks largely to the efforts of Heracles. It was close though and the villainous duo were moaning at dirty tricks of the so called heroes. Heracles was dominating Jack and about to finish him when Defender rushed the ring and struck with the bottom of his spear. Commander Sam had distracted the ref so it could happen. It gave Royal Flush a chance to comeback and they hit Heracles with everything from BLACK DIAMOND to DEFENDER CANNON. Heracles does brilliant to take it all and get himself back in control. Both he and Jack were laden with fatigue tokens but Heracles is the stronger and gets the victory after OLYMPIA. He claims “it takes more than a primitive spear to put me down”. Commander Sam and Star Warrior had a minor disagreement in the aftermath. Star Warrior felt the behaviour was not befitting of the Champions team.
Monad just about defeated Talon. Doomsayer leaves the Palace to manage Monad against an old adversary. Kind of. Talon’s links to Raven is the motive behind this booking. Monad had no pin protection like he does in the CPC but Talon was not expected to trouble him. Wrong. Talon has a fine match and almost got a big upset. Amazingly Monad pulled off a kickout after being caught by a sunset flip. Then Doomsayer at his distracting best following Deadly Descent. Sadly it doesn't last. Talon went to the top rope. Got thrown down powerfully by Monad’s 4 arms. Soon after Monad gets him with SURFBOARD SUBMISSION but he did need two bites of the cherry.
Death’s Head overcomes Rising Sun. Not Rising Sun’s finest hour. He constantly brawled and even tried to swipe Death’s Head with a chair. Only escaped a DQ because of a lenient ref and probably Titan reputation. Didn’t do him much good for Death’s Head easily outbrawled him and relentlessly nailed FUNERAL MARCH until Rising Sun was knocked out. Lord Nexus wonders what had gotten into Rising Sun almost getting himself disqualified like that. Rising later says “it’s not my usual style but Death’s Head is dangerous being a Brymstonian. I had a sense I had to strike first”.
Ms. Liberty defeated Cassandra. Women’s division still ticking along but this is another area where the two titles could do with being unified permanently or just one existing. Anyway both ladies looking to put themselves in shop window for a title shot. Winner will move onto a match with Supernova. Ms. Liberty does well after a torrid start. WHIPS AND CHAINS comes her away a couple of times but she stages a great fight back. Ends with THE LIBERATOR as she seals a popular win.
Manslaughter beat Meteor. Forgettable opener. Manslaughter made pretty hard work of it. Eventually he applies SNAP, CRACK, POP at second time of asking to get it won.

CARD 979 – PELF PALACE:
Paragon beats Mayhem to end his short reign as CPC Heavyweight champion. This will of seriously pissed off Spike as his planned cage clash with Mayhem is postponed just so the spoilt Paragon can get his title shot. Another reason for the Gladiators to hate the CPC. Colby and Pelf had toyed with the idea of paying Mayhem off to lay down for the pin but Commissioner Grogan had told them that wasn’t a good idea. Stating “there’s no telling how he might react. Unfortunately Paragon’s going to have to win it himself”. Mayhem is heavily in the news at the moment as he is defending against the backdrop of his moonlighting within the GWF as the character Carnage. Heavily analysis of his match with Pollux a couple weeks ago has left very little doubt. But when Qualitar brought it up in the pre match interview Mayhem blames him for rumour spreading “I’ll wrap my chain around your neck and snap it like a twig if you continue your false claims”. He then departs intent to bust Paragon up. No respect for the so called big man from Mayhem. It’s Mayhem’s title and nobody has a god given right to it. Paragon makes sure Thantos is with him. No doubt set to lean heavily on the under pressure manager here. An immediate Paragon Power Bomb and pin attempt in the first move of the match shows Paragon means business. But Mayhem pretty much no sells it and comes back. Just a few moves later and he is going for LEAP OF DOOM. Lucky for Paragon and co that he misses wildly. After this action packed start things slow down a bit after this. A few minutes of jousting before Mayhem tried it again. No matter how many times he misses he always keeps going for it. Incredibly it’s another miss and although Paragon tried to take advantage he fails to do anything meaningful and leads to another lull. However Paragon eventually musters a decent run of offence and a series of Whirlybird Backbreakers gives another pin opportunity. This time he benefits from a snake eyes roll. But for storyline purposes we’ll say it was a suspiciously fast count from the ref. It means the CPC Heavyweight belt passes like a hot potato onto Paragon. The gallery stands up and applauds. The chosen one has taken his place back at the top of the CPC. Thantos stands beside Paragon looking mightily relieved. This outcome more than makes for the failings of the Matador and Janus at the beginning of the show.
CPC Tag champs, Theatre of Pain, see off the Awesome Studs. Big surprise Theatre of Pain has lasted this long as CPC tag champs. Especially with teams like CPC Rising, CPC Lottery and Desolation Factor floating around. For sure Magnus Colby and Sonora would prefer to see the belts on one of those teams. Even more surprising is that Awesome Studs are the recipients of the latest title shot. Vanity thinks it’s because the owners have seen what a great entertainer he is and suggests maybe Sonora Pelf has a tiny crush on him. He even looks up at her in the gallery and mouths ‘hello, sugar lips’ to which Magnus Colby sat right beside her wags a disapproving finger back. Vanity quickly gets his eyes back on the opponents in response. Reynard B. Guile was busily advising him whilst massaging the shoulders of Dynamo. Stood on his tippy toes to reach. He desperately wants to be managing some champions again and get himself back up the CPC hierarchy. Finally the Theatre of Pain makes its entrance and things are quickly underway. Tragedy, in particular, in no mood for messing about. Despite being heavy favourites Theatre of Pain toils against the Studs. B. Guile is being his usual annoying self and disrupting the rhythm. Dynamo is proving a slippery customer too. Quite literally. Had slathered so much oil on his body that they can barely get a grip on him. Ultimately they do see the Studs off though. Getting a decent run of offence against Vanity which ended with SHAKESPEARE. Crowd will need to wake up for the big main event now. The atmosphere during this contest wasn’t great and at times you could of heard a pin drop. Think the CPC needs a change of champion in this division sooner rather than later.
CPC Interstellar champ, Colussus, blew Skinhead away in a match with Scourge as ref. Skinhead has done well to rise to a title shot. What better way than by winning the belt to get back at the CPC for the terrible injuries Splatter inflicted on him a few months ago. Johnny Rocket is mouthing off that the Interstellar belt is a poor imitation of the Interplanetary belt. He intends to use acquiring the belt as a springboard to bigger and better things for Skinhead in the GWF. But it’s immediately obvious the odds are stacked. The favouritism shown by Scourge is obscene. He plays dumb for all the rulebreaking transgressions of Colussus and his manager Thantos. Johnny Rocket is going nuts over all this but Thantos smiles and holds his arms out “what do you mean? I am merely an innocent bystander. Not my fault your guy is cr*p. It’s pretty obvious who the weak spot was on Superiority Complex all those years”. Johnny tried to lunge at Thantos but there is a gulf in wrestling pedigree. Thantos handles him with ease. Johnny is put down with a nifty leg sweep and put in MASTERLOCK briefly. This disables Johnny enough that he is unable to now provide any assistance to Skinhead after that. Skinhead is now completely overwhelmed by Colussus. A well executed Cyborg Spinwheel Kick almost pins him. Following up with a Colussus Double Smash makes it a certainty. No problems for Colussus and next up is a big meeting with longtime adversary Heracles. Always a crowd pleaser. Johnny vows revenge for the way they were treated in this match calling it a complete outrage.
Lycosa downs Brainstorm to win the CPC Cruiserweight belt. Long winded opening dampens enthusiasm for this match. Brainstorm has no burning desire to get in the ring. He knows his days as the champ are numbered. He spends as long as possible fooling around getting his girls to perform cheerleading routines and quizzing members of the crowd to see if they can match his intelligence. Lycosa was getting fidgety watching all this to the point he could take it no more. He climbs to the top rope readying a suicide leap. That’s just what Brainstorm wants. He telegraphed such a move and made sure he was wearing a steel plated sheet embedded into his gown. Lycosa bounces off him hurt. Brainstorm disrobes and points to his head “I don’t want to blow my own trumpet but that there was super smart”. With this in mind I gave Brainstorm the starting point on L2O. However he fails to build on it. Aside from a valet assisted ambush there is nothing much else on offer. Lycosa is soon able to recover from the earlier miss. After a Lycosa Lariat it doesn’t take long until we see BLACK WIDOW’S BITE. Brainstorm’s ladies scream in horror as he folds to the move. Lycosa softens the blow of Enigma losing the GWF Cruiserweight belt by bringing the CPC variant into the Masked Assassins. He grabs the title and somersaults out of the ring in spectacular fashion. Brainstorm is left alone in the ring. He doesn’t look very smart now. Even Maxine Babe and Darla took off early. Maxine telling Darla “let’s ditch the loser and go party. I reckon with these (pointing to her bust) we can get past security and into the VIP bar”. No doubt she will cause a scene with her sordid behaviour.
Velar beats Amazonia to keep the ladies belts unified. A sign of things to come? Both ladies belts being defended together. The GWF will be horrified to see this happening and will try and ensure they are defended separately next month but it will be much easier to achieve if Amazonia is the holder. They were powerless to prevent Velar adding the CPC belt to the mix after this was initially signed as a GWF title match. Part of the problem because this was taking place at Pelf Palace giving the CPC creative control. Amazonia didn’t care about any of that much. She was just very fired up. Feeling energised for the first time in a while. Recent injuries have made her feel like she hasn’t been able to give her best. Velar is certainly worried as she has convinced Terminus to be at ringside with her. Maybe Amazonia should of done the same with Wolf. But if Terminus manhandles Amazonia in any way it is sure to trigger their feud again. Perhaps his mere presence on its own was enough to unsettle Amazonia. He doesn’t have to do anything. Amazonia’s fiery start is soon snuffed out and Velar looks right on her game. Uses HAMMERLOCK SLAM and it’s enough with the 2 tokens Amazonia already had to ensure she kept hold of both belts. Commissioners Morpheus and Omega won’t of been too pleased. How are they going to split the belts apart now?
Desolation Factor against X-Termination descends in double DQ chaos. Time for Desolation Factor to finally show what they are about by beating a top team like X-Termination. Doomsayer describes them as gnats that must be squashed. Johnny Rocket bites back on his mic and calls Desolation Factor overhyped and predicts another loss for them. Then taunts that Rack and Ruin will follow the path of others who have been through the Transevolver and become plagued with health issues in a few years. In fact on hearing that Ruin seemed distressed and looked like he might be about to turn on Doomsayer. But they are easily to manipulate and Doomsayer tells Ruin “relax, the procedure was perfectly safe. Others didn’t heed my warnings and took larger doses than they should of. You were smart and received the prescribed dose. Exposed no longer than necessary”. They settle down and a turbulent match soon plays out. The insane power of both Rack and Ruin is certainly an eye opener for X-Termination. At one point Grunge was getting a real going over. Pin balling between the two behemoths. When they subject him to RACKED AND RUINED it seems the kindest thing to do. Put him out his misery. But Johnny Rocket isn’t giving up so easily. He may be annoying but he’s prepared to put his body on the line especially against CPC guys. He spares Grunge from getting pinned and almost got his head taken off in the process. But his interactions give Grunge crucial recovery time. Enough that he is able to muster some kind of fightback. After the torrid start X-Termination is able to now make a fight of it much to Doomsayer’s frustration. The match descends into a wild brawling affair after this. Repeated skirmishes flare up outside the ring. When Ruin grabs a chair and Grunge brandishes his guitar the ref is left with no choice but to disqualify both teams. Doomsayer was not happy with another disappointing result and thinks his team let a big opportunity slip to get its first big win. This was their fifth match as a team and they have only won 2 so far (unconvincingly over Awesome Studs and then a DQ verdict over the ageing Mercenaries). They need to seriously improve or the Gladiators will have them for breakfast when they finally meet.
Malice wins an epic over Matador of M83. The rivalry between CPC and the Gladiators continues to heat up. This is a big match and would main event most shows but it’s well down the card tonight. The Matador treads carefully around Malice. He knows what this Gladiator can do having felt it first hand in the recent Battlezone clash between Penthouse Suite and the Gladiators. Although Matador beat him that night Malice had already cleared out half the Penthouse Suite team by that point. Of course Matador exudes confidence prior to locking up “Malice is an impressive specimen but he has now staying power. I can wrestle all night long if I have to”. Malice disproves that statement with a Herculean effort. Hangs in there as the Matador dominates the first half of the match. Even though BULLWHIP came his way. Then starts chipping away at the Matador and slowly but surely the token count evens up. With pin attempts building on the Matador it’s surprising Thantos isn’t doing an awful lot. Perhaps hesitant to spoil the feast everyone was witnessing. However he finally clicks into gear as Malice puts Matador down with a choke slam that ferociously shakes the ring. It is delivered with such power that it seems unlikely the Matador is getting up anytime soon. But Thantos fails in his distraction as he climbs onto the apron. In fact Malice manages to grab him by the throat. Thantos tried to prise his fingers off but cannot do it. Malice then releases and pushes him backwards off the apron. Then turns attention back to the Matador who hasn’t moved. Puts a foot on the chest and demands the ref makes the 3 count. The win keeps the Gladiators firmly in the driving seat of their feud with the Penthouse Suite.
Kati upsets Janus. Both members of CPC Rising given a chance to stretch their legs in singles action tonight. Though not sure Janus can be too happy with his curtain jerking role. He would also of hoped for a better opponent than Kati. But he would be wise not to underestimate Kati. The Samoan has a good record and even has a win over the Matador on his CV. It’s still strange that after all this time he has never fully committed to either the CPC or GWF. Guess he’s just one of those guys that doesn’t really fit in anywhere. Janus expects to win but just cannot catch a break as Kati is having one of those nights. Absolutely creaming Janus. Two attempts with SAMOAN REVENGE among countless other hefty hits leave Janus precariously holding onto 4 tokens. But it looks Janus may avoid humiliation. He capitalises on a small error by a Kati by tossing him down from the top rope and builds a solid run offence that includes 2 pin attempts. Surely now was time to finish off with GORDION KNOT but Janus keeps it on ice. A flawed decision because Kati rides things out and gets another run on top. Janus has run out of lives now. Thantos did all he could to help earlier. Kati delivers a double ax-handle that rattles the brain of Janus. A hopeful pin attempt straight after yields the shock victory. Thantos offers a wave derision towards Janus on seeing this and stomps off ready to prepare for the next match managing the Matador. Hoping things will improve.

CARD 980 – SATURDAY NIGHT STARSLAMMERS – DEIMOS INTERGALACTIC ARENA:
Special ‘Tug of War’ skit featuring GWF against CPC wrestlers. Does the fed really believe stunts like this will boost the ratings? Trying to go for power guys obviously but convincing wrestlers to do it not too easy. Chaos, for example, refused to lower himself to it calling it the sort of thing you’d see at a circus. On the GWF side there was Powerhouse, Hammer, Massif, Talisman, Manslaughter and Wraith. The CPC featured Vanity, Dynamo, Monad (maybe advantaged by having 4 arms), Tragedy, Comedy and Terminus. None of their big names apart from perhaps Terminus. Apparently Grogan was supposed to show up but he either got cold feet or told by his employers such behaviour was unbefitting of a Commissioner. My money was on the GWF guys when looking at the size comparisons. The segment was setup at a remote and undisclosed location. The two teams of 6 were placed about 30 feet apart with a shallow pit between them containing all sorts of foulness. The slack is taken and on commencement the GWF guys are quickly showing their greater strength. Powerhouse continuously yelling “pull, pull” and taking it all very seriously. The CPC guys are getting closer and closer to the pit. Vanity at the front cannot dig his heels in and slides precariously close. He cannot bear to fall into all that and commands all his team to suddenly release the rope. The GWF team clumsily fall like dominos causing anger. It looks like a 12 man brawl might be about to take place when the feed is suddenly cut. Commissioners Omega and Morpheus had no idea this was happening. Morpheus had burst into the tech centre within the Deimos IG Arena and demanded an end to such nonsense. In the prevailing days several of the wrestlers involved are seen sporting black eyes suggesting things got pretty ugly.
Heavyweight champ, Pegasus, retains against Vengeance with a DQ win. The Gladiators ominously are getting stronger. Tag belts restored and now the opportunity to grab the big one offers itself. The Commissioners will be pleased at this to a point because the Gladiators are directly opposing the CPC but it is also dangerous when Aethrans dominate. They are a bullying race intent on destruction which might end up being counter productive to the GWF. Deep down they were hoping Pegasus could keep their progression in check by retaining here. Pegasus has never fully shed some of his old heelish traits even though he has been the top hero for a number of years. It’s not ideal in the eyes of his manager Star Warrior but the guy is so talented exceptions have to be made. Such tactics often stand him in good stead to take on guys like Vengeance. Maybe if Star Warrior had been prepared to play a little dirtier in his career he could of been the most decorated wrestler in history. Anyway that’s a debate for a different time. Gloves were straight off. Vengeance hellbent on going for the eyes but Pegasus placing a knee to the groin to ward him off. Not exactly textbook stuff. It doesn’t become a match that will be remembered. Very little flow and frustratingly short. Vengeance’s penchant for dastardly acts very much his undoing. He had been under some pressure after the groin hit and bailed out of the ring. He tried discreetly to tape a tiny blade to his knuckles. This could of caused enormous damage if it hadn’t been spotted. But the ref in the ring is one of the best around. Suspecting something wasn’t right he conducted a thorough search of Vengeance and found this dangerous item. Rather than confiscate he didn’t think Vengeance deserved a second chance and disqualified him on the spot. The sick Vengeance’s response was to crack a twisted smile and mouth “you’ll regret that”. And just like that he left. Pegasus didn’t feel much like celebrating as he had barely earned that win. To appease the fans he held his belt aloft briefly before slinging it over his shoulder to depart too. Barely having broken sweat. Match rating - Dud!
Pulsar despite being badly injured defeats Painmaster to win the IP belt. Odds were stacked against Pulsar. Hampered by various strapping affecting mobility. It’s almost like a free hit for Painmaster. But even with such overwhelming advantage Painmaster still brings the insurance of Sentry. The fans certainly appreciated the bravery of Pulsar and give him a huge cheer. Hoping he would respond to them and pull off an improbable victory. He gives it a real go and Painmaster looks shocked at Pulsar’s effort. The match rumbles on and on. Sentry even has to help out to keep Painmaster alive. Nobody could of expected Pulsar to last so long much less put any tokens on Painmaster. However once he starts to come under some serious fire it looks his spirited effort would soon be ended. About ten minutes in and Impale clothesline sent him tumbling through the ropes. Some worried fans urge Pulsar to lie down and take a count-out loss for fear of exacerbating his injuries. Pulsar won’t hear a word of it. Grimacing as he forces himself to stand. He then reaches in and drags Painmaster out with him by the legs. Then throws him hard into the onrushing Sentry. They both go down and Pulsar clambers into the ring and takes the high ground. Painmaster would of been wise to of stayed out and saved the belt but he is angry he cannot beat Pulsar. Foolishly he returns to the ring but as he steps through the ropes Pulsar is waiting for him with WHIRLWIND. The blow took Painmaster clean off his feet and Pulsar collapses on him for the pin. He wins the IP belt in one of the most courageous performances ever. Some of the other heroes wrestling on the card were watching closely and rush out as soon as it’s over to form a ring of protection round him. If the Colonizers were to seek any retribution it could be very bad given Pulsar’s fragility. He is able to safely depart with his escort and grips the belt close to his chest. Wow. Never saw that coming. Pulsar’s adjusted stats were terrible but he showed such heart to pull that off.
Thunder and Overkill crushed CPC Lottery in a non-title match. The Gladiators still not getting their hands on Desolation Factor yet but this is a mega interesting match up. The CPC will probably not be expecting a win but at the very least will demand that Splatter and Vyper rough them up. Any injuries inflicted will be a bonus. Of course Vyper wants more than that. Believing CPC Lottery can win “I’ve finally got a decent partner. We have fun together and can achieve things. The Gladiators are overhyped. Nobody can withstand Arsenal. No matter how big they are. Once they are beaten my snakes will enjoy slithering over their damaged bodies”. Bold talk. No war of words back. The Aethrans choosing to do their talking by their actions in the ring by pretty much obliterating them. Splatter got tossed around by Overkill and hit with DECAPITATOR. Survived only because Vyper stormed in triggering a brawl but he was not good for much of anything after that. Vyper has to carry the can but he cannot cope with the furious pace of Thunder and goes down to THE TEMPEST. Another awesome performance from the Gladiators. Desolation Factor doesn’t have a prayer if they maintain this devastating form.
Heracles strolls to victory over Janus. Slight change of plan as Colussus pulls out the match at short notice but Janus was more than happy to step in. This is more like it for Janus. A much higher profile of match but he had to go to a GWF arena to get it. Also is the absence of Thantos significant? Could very well be that these guys go in opposite directions next year. Heracles is in a taunting mood. Belittling Janus for losing to a jobber like Kati and saying his days in the CPC are numbered. Janus just calls him a jealous loser who cannot get into the CPC because he’s not good enough. Anyway it becomes another awful result for Janus. He tried a move against the turnbuckle but missed the mark. As he bounces off Heracles smashes him with a powerful clothesline from behind. Janus falls face first. Heracles turns him over with the sole of his boot like Janus is a piece of trash and easily pins him. Anaxis now runs in and calls Heracles “my hero” and playfully rubs the rug on his chest.
Jack of Diamonds defeats Mad Jester by DQ. Although Jack is booked to face Jester he is hoping his friend, Defender of the Realm, will show instead. His theory is that the toxic atmosphere of Pelf Palace is more likely to trigger Defender’s inner demons. But get him to a GWF arena with all the fans cheering and the Defender side will be stronger. Sadly this isn’t the case. A young backstage worker runs out and hands the waiting Jack a note scribbled in crayon saying “sorry, Defender couldn’t come out to play. He’s sent his best mate instead”. Jack screws it up and throws it on the floor. As he turns around Jester is right in his face and lays him out. Nobody even saw where he’d come in from. Jack struggles to get a foothold after this nasty surprise. Jester has no intention of trying to wrestle though. Throwing Jack in and out of the ring until the ref can tolerate it no longer and disqualified him. Jester smiles on learning of that and decides it’s time to get out his barbed rattle and embed it in Jack’s head. Commander Sam to the rescue. Grabbing the American flag and using the pole to wipe Jester out before he can injure Jack. Instead Jester is the one left injured (2 cards) as Sam delivers several blows before he is calmed down. Sam later admits “Star Warrior won’t be happy and I did get carried away. But if I hadn’t acted there’s no telling what might of happened”.
Rebel Empire untroubled in defeating Frozen Fury. Rivalry renewed. Stakes are high for both teams. Frozen Fury back in the tag saddle and looking to go on a winning run having won their last match over Lower World easily. Rebel Empire with bruised egos having fallen out of tag title contention and trying to build themselves up again. The last thing they will want to do is lose here and give their enemies Frozen Fury momentum for another title run. Thankfully they avoid that scenario with a dominant display. After a seesaw battle between Nefarus and Buck Steele the advantage shifts when Vendetta gets tagged in. He batters Buck. First comes THE BIG FALL. Not long after it gets worse for Buck with EMPIRE TRIUMPHANT. A frustrated Blizzard who hadn’t seen any action tried the pin save but is stopped dead by Vendetta. Nefarus nervously covered Buck hoping Genocide hadn’t been awakened. He looks hugely relieved as the three count completes with barely a flicker from Buck. Big win for the Colonizer team. Big question is was it enough for Rebel Empire to become top contenders and be able to challenge the Gladiators?
Ms. Liberty upsets Supernova. Supernova’s diary hasn’t exactly been busy. Barely seen her as Star Warrior wanted to keep her cocooned as the fed wars heat up. Her misdemeanours as she went off the rails last year still fresh in the memory. But she tells him that she has been going crazy with boredom and wants to wrestle. After calling him overbearing he reluctantly removes the shackles. A rankings match against teammate Ms. Liberty seen as good way of her easing her back. Despite being on same side there are no pleasantries exchanged by the two ladies. That can wait til after. All the pent up energy has Supernova exploding out the blocks. Threatens to overwhelm Ms. Liberty but then becomes guilty of going too fast. Missed a turnbuckle charge. Ended up outside and took a good while getting herself back in. Ms. Liberty respectfully gave her space but then nailed a spectacular dropkick off the turnbuckle followed by THE LIBERATOR two times in a row. It’s considered a genuine upset when it leads to the pin.
Anarchy crushed Gila. Brave of Gila. Anarchy was looking for a match and very few had the courage to take him on. Even the Centaurians were unavailable. Saving themselves for GALACTICON. Step forward Gila. He wants to show everyone, now he is part of the Savage Kingdom, he is prepared to take anyone on. Especially those so consumed by evil. Anarchy certainly ticks that box. Maleph is strangely reserved. Hovering several feet in the same spot. Seems the presence of the hulking Mollock is bothering him a bit. The feeling of discomfort doesn’t last too long. Despite Gila surprising Anarchy with pin attempt in only the second move of the match after a Reptile Head Ram it’s over pretty quick. Anarchy turns the tide almost immediately by easily winning an out of ring brawl. Once back inside he pushes Gila down and comes down on him with a flying elbow drop to win it. Mollock didn’t try and interrupt. Terak has taught him only to get involved when the opponent has done something dastardly. No rules were broken here. Almost unheard of with a Brymstonian.

Latest News:
Chaos is trying to setup meetings with Janus to try and bring him back from the CPC. Thinks it is achievable as Janus is feeling ostracised in the Penthouse Suite. The recent loss to Kati a real low point. But Thantos sends a message on Spacebook “we know what you are doing Chaos but you’re wasting your time trying to poach our guys. Janus is a valued member of our team and will never leave us. Not whilst he is earning ten times what he would in the GWF and living the life of riley. You’re just bitter at becoming a spent force that doesn’t meet our standards”. In fact such rumouring is annoying Heracles who wonders why Chaos is tapping him up “it’s as if I’m not good enough for him. No way to treat someone who has stood with him shoulder to shoulder through everything”. The CPC then made a quick move to install CPC Rising as top contenders to their tag belts. Ordinarily Theatre of Pain would have a month off of defending so this is an interesting move. Maybe if Janus and Matador get some more riches it will keep them loyal. Plus it gets them out the way of the crowded singles bracket. An area they haven’t covered themselves in glory this month.
Who could ever of envisaged Mutant holding a championship belt but it’s happened. With the help of the Terrorists it upset Enigma to take the GWF Cruiserweight title. It probably doesn’t even realise what it’s achieved. The CPC is laughing as they think it makes a mockery of the belt. Although it must be said that Prodigy abdicating their own version a few months ago didn’t do its credibility much good either. The problem is whilst two versions exists of all the belts it detracts from each them. The minor belts suffering the most. This is why for the sake of wrestling we need one organisation to prevail over the other sooner rather than later. Or a proper split at the very least. But the latter is not the plan of Colby and Pelf unfortunately. Coexistence is not on their agenda. They want to squash the GWF entirely. Mutant’s first defence will be against Death’s Head. The upper weight limit for the Cruiserweight belt has been adjusted to 250 lbs and Death’s Head just creeps into the category. What a strange match that will be. The Cruiserweights are normally expected to provide mouth watering matches but we’ll be hard pushed to see any wrestling moves from these two.
Another shock title switch was Pulsar winning the IP belt from Painmaster. Not because it’s Pulsar but because of the state he was in due to his horrible injuries. It was maybe one of the greatest ever performances given the circumstances. Archon commended Pulsar for his determination and called him an honorary Centaurian. It’s the sort of effort that will make him a big contender for winning inspirational wrestler of the year. He might even end up in the running for most popular too. Apparently Pulsar patches and kids size t-shirts are among the biggest merchandise movers in the GWF. When a fed is feeling the pinch in terms of cash things like this are very important. Unfortunately with his fragile body he may not hold onto for it long. Especially with Spike set to challenge next (more on that later). The loss of the IP belt by Painmaster completes an awful couple of months for the Colonizers. They were closing in on holding all three major GWF belts at one stage. Now they have nothing.
Mayhem is trying to still turn out for the GWF despite being banished. A newcomer called Carnage has been showing up on dark shows and appeared for the first time on TV earlier this month to pulverise Pollux. The gimmick involves nothing more than a black bodysuit with eye slots. An idea very much stolen from the days of the Gladiator Civil War when Bounty Hunter donned a white suit to wrestle as Killing Machine. Suspicious GWF commissioners are looking at Carnage closely. The physical similarity and wrestling style has pretty much convinced them of foul play. But how will they handle it? For now they give a canned response of “we are looking into it” and are letting things carry on. Even agreeing to let a planned Carnage-Wolf Titan Death match take place at GALACTICON.
Speaking of GALACTICON that’s up next month in its 21st iteration. There’s another CPC-GWF Championship match coming. Title for title planned for the main event as Pegasus faces Paragon. The GWF didn’t really want to do it (after what happened in 2105) but pressure from investors and dollar signs did it for them to agree. It’s no secret the GWF needs the cash. They are just hoping that Pegasus wins and that Paragon doesn’t get hands on both. The best outcome would be a DQ or count-out. Not normally an ending encouraged for such a big main event but it would keep things segregated. This is why it has been booked just as a regular match via the diplomatic skills of Omega … Thunder and Overkill finally faces Desolation Factor. The GWF got there first. They meet not once but twice. First up on the Countdown show in a regular match. Then at GALACTICON itself they square off in a best of 3 special match series … It’s unconfirmed but they are trying to coax Velar into putting the GWF belt online at the event rather than do it at Pelf Palace. They will then be able to insist the CPC belt isn’t part of the match and have a chance of splitting them up again. But if they cannot manage it then they have a continuing problem set to linger on. Commissioner Morpheus suggested to Omega they just strip Velar of the GWF belt. Problem solved but Omega is worried that is too heavy handed and could even spawn costly legal issues. As we know the fed isn’t awash with cash at the moment despite the main event booking … Anyway back to other matches scheduled for the event and incredibly Spike goes for the IP belt on the Countdown show. Normally the Aethrans wouldn’t look twice at this belt and Malice even voluntarily vacated it once. But Spike has impressed everyone with the way he has hit the ground running on his return. He is prepared to try and win the belt and use it as a stepping stone to once again holding the Heavyweight belt. What a story that might be … Pulsar and Dragonmaster are also fantasising about GALACTICON glory. Despite all his problems Pulsar has agreed to reform Titan Express as promised. It’s a massively popular move and fans hope they will do it again before the year is out. There’s plenty more than all this with 14 matches (plus 2 dark) set to take place in addition to the 8 on the Countdown show the week before. That event is almost as popular as the main show itself and often sets things up nicely.
INJURED – Draconian Sheik (1), Pulsar (8) Halcon Oro (?); SUSPENDED – none
WRESTLER OF THE MONTH:
PULSAR - Pips Spike to the award. Incredible to overcome such debilitating injuries and capture the IP belt. Plus anything that derails the Colonizer attempts to monopolise gold always goes down well.
TAG TEAM OF THE MONTH:
THUNDER AND OVERKILL - After almost 2 years the Gladiators return to the top of tag team pyramid. They have looked ultra aggressive since the start of the year and this was just reward for their domination.

FED FLASHBACK
Episode 13 – OLD SCHOOL BRAWL - Deimos IG Arena:
Going way back into the Early Classics era. Just a mini episode this time. Commissioner Omega proudly on hosting duties as he talks about those days and the early struggles. He dusts off an old tape from what was, at the time, a dark show and places it into the viewing monitor. “Welcome everyone. Am very pleased to be bringing this show to you. A selection of matches from 2082. Seems a long time ago now. The fed had been running almost 8 years by this point. I was happy with how things were despite some problems. My relationship with Morpheus was always difficult. Sometimes it was like walking on hot coals around him but we’d kept things ticking along, seen off threats like Dorado Sundown in the early days and the fans were loving the shows. Not quite as regular as they are nowadays. Generally once a month on TV. Then there were a few unreported dark shows dotted around. This is one of those”.
Omega overcame Caiman in a non-title match … “2081 and 2082 were my most successful years. I had a long title run and felt at times pretty invincible. Around this time Morpheus was refusing to wrestle me. This was annoying as it was always the match fans wanted to see but he was bitter at some past losses and didn’t always play ball. But there were plenty of other decent challengers around this time. I was convinced Mighty Grogan was going to the very top but Caiman was another that was very talented. As it turned out Grogan never did reach the holy grail of the Heavyweight belt but Caiman did. Won it twice but only listed as a one time holder. I had this rule that to be listed as a champion you needed to make at least one successful defence. This is why Morpheus has never been recognised as a champion despite winning the initial tournament in 2074. Anyway I digress. I felt sorry that many fans didn’t root for Caiman. The majority that attended our shows were still humanoid and were not entirely comfortable with his crocodilian appearance. A shame as he was one of the nicest wrestlers on the roster and if anyone wanted a selfie always obliged. I knew at the time this wouldn’t be easy. As you can see he is giving me a torrid time. That Mangrove Uppercut in particular really hurt. But I managed to stay away from his finisher and then once I got on top was pretty confident of victory. I hit him with TOMAHAWK THRUST. He shocked me a bit by kicking out of it. It was usually very reliable. So I decided when he got up I’d do it again. This time it was my mistake. I didn’t scan the surroundings. Covered him way too close to the ropes. It gave him the chance to get his foot on the ropes. When the ref tapped me on the shoulder I actually thought I won and leapt up celebrating. Felt a bit embarrassed when the ref pointed to the rope. However I knew he couldn’t last out much longer after those. I could hear the crowd chanting for the war dance. I liked to give them what they wanted and started my COSMIC WAR DANCE. There was no way Caiman was going to muster enough kickout after that. I went for the cover and must admit to being somewhat relieved when I heard the mat get pounded a third and final time. After helping Caiman up and checking he was okay it was time to celebrate properly. Remember it quite well now. The belt may not of been on the line but winning always felt so good”.
Mighty Grogan used his experience to defeat Cosmos … “To look at these two who could ever of thought that they would be part of some of the most controversial moments in history. Grogan was a popular power guy that I felt might be able to take my place as the top star of the GWF in a few years. Whilst Cosmos was an angry young man that found friendship with my son. He had lots of talent and I loved seeing how close he and Star Warrior became as part of the Gamemasters. When they split and the code was broken things were never the same. Even when they reunited in 2096 the old magic wasn’t there and of course there was a lack of trust on both sides. But I don’t want to dwell on that because this was a great contest. Really epitomised what I wanted wrestling to be about. Never going out the ring. Pure wrestling fought in a great spirit. The talent of Cosmos very much in evidence by the way he nearly pulled off an upset. Had Grogan tied up in MASTERLOCK. Maybe it was those powerful legs that enabled Grogan to withstand it and drag them both towards the ropes to force a break. Anybody’s match after that but Grogan came through. Around 10 minutes in he caught Cosmos with an avalanche that winded him badly. Grogan never just covered opponents when going for pins. He literally tied them in a knot to make it very tough to kickout. Cosmos tried but didn’t have the leg strength to break the hook applied. He took the loss with good grace and thanked Grogan for a good contest”.
Commander Sam easily beat Mangus in a Sam’s Brawl match … “Ah, my old mate Sam. He used to bend my ear about this match all the time. I don’t think we officially registered it as a possible match type until a couple years later. I was against matches that encouraged too much violence so this was kind of like a pilot if my memory serves me correct. I still don’t think one ever got booked on TV though. They were always dark. For some reason Sam’s enemies were reluctant and seemed to think he had too big an advantage. The pin rating of 3(0) attests to that. It’s great that we have the match here though. It is basically anything goes. Kind of a hybrid between a Titan Death/Falls Count Anywhere match. A rare commodity and perfectly highlights this legendary feud. Among the most passionate in history. I never sided with one guy or the other particulary even though Sam was a friend. They were just two guys representing their homes. Involved in plenty of double DQ outcomes which was pretty rare in fed until then. This wasn’t one of those though. We had to have a winner. Am sure there were far more action packed battles than this though. Despite the special stipulation the action barely left the ring. Magnus was looking a little lethargic and Sam easily pinned him after a superplex. Sam didn’t care that it wasn’t the crowd pleasing spectacle expected. Any win over Magnus was a cause for celebration and Sam milked the moment waving the American flag with great vigour”.
Crosscurrents in perfect sync to beat the Deimos Dazzlers … “The Crosscurrents, I remember these guys well. They were a very synchronised team. If I recall rightly they had to have special apparatus to help them survive outside of water. As a team they were pretty good, slippery as eels I’d say. However if you got one of them their own they were pretty easy to deal with. I think they disappeared shortly after this. Shame because we wanted a strong tag division and they never gave me too many problems. Just seemed to turn up, wrestle and then head off to their homeworld. Their opponents were the Deimos Dazzlers. Those boys Rama and Tano were great entertainers with their fast move repertoire. Double team pioneers. Did really well in the division and certainly overachievers. A couple title runs I believe. What also made them so cool is how they kept switching their team name. We had the Wind Riders, Spin Masters and Red Planet Rockers to name a few before they settled on the Dazzlers gimmick. Maybe they could of wrestled longer but they were part of a number of casualties during that turbulent year of 2086. Wanting no part of what was happening. Anyway this here wasn’t one of their best outings. They did not get their rhythm going and the timing was often off. Whilst the Crosscurrents had a fluid style. The way Vortex nailed Rama with a top rope plunge in the winning move so typical of them. Good pop for the Dazzlers nonetheless. Success beyond the duo’s wildest dreams would come in the years ahead”.
KO Keller pinned Mimic … “What a grappler Keller was. He had that boxing driven style and was tough as nails. He didn’t believe in hanging around. Often going for the big finisher attempt right off the bat. I always thought it better to keep these on ice for at least a few minutes even when in control. To make certain. But he sure did have a punch on him. The fans were keen for him to lay Mimic out. That guy wasn’t popular and seen mainly as a weirdo. I wouldn’t go so far as to say that. It was a gimmick but I gave up ever trying to speak to him. He never said a word. Someone else behind the scenes was helping set up his matches. Anyway Keller surprisingly held back on his hard hitting style in this one. More wrestling moves than boxing. I suppose if you are going to experiment then a dark show is the time to do it. These matches had far less impacts on rankings. Keller still had too much for Mimic. Executing an impressive cobra clutch suplex from which there was no recovering”.
Sin went over Silvar … “We all know how poor Silvar’s career panned out. During his run in the fed he never really got off the bottom of the card but stayed enthusiastic and kept coming back. Despite the risks associated with taking Sin he was upbeat and high fiving fans on the way down. Deep down I always hoped he would get a few wins. He deserved it. Sadly he couldn’t withstand the rulebreaking antics of Sin here. Gave a good effort but got smashed with a KNUCKLE SANDWICH and that was that”.

CARD 981 – NIAGARA TOWER OF LIGHTS:
I was a little unsure on what to do after the Mandrill-Talon match as the unlucky 13 is rolled. In years gone by that means a lottery attack. But as it would scupper the potential Chaos-Mandrill match at GALACTICON plus the ringside companion is unclear if Splatter is conducting solo attacks on top of the CPC lottery chart I decided to ignore it. Mandrill will never know how close he came to a battering. Maybe Sentry would of protected him anyway.
Tag champs, Thunder and Overkill, too strong for Rebel Empire. Thunder laughs in the face of Rebel Empire’s latest challenge “how many times do we have to beat these wimps before they get the message?” Nefarus simply warns back “don’t be too confident”. He has decided, despite the reservations of Mandrill, to do what is necessary to grab the belts. That means Sentry is free to fire upon the Gladiators if the situation calls for it. But Sentry will have to try and give Thrash the slip first. But often the best laid plans don’t work out. After a few minutes jockeying Vendetta overestimated his own power. Tried a Vendetta Rack Bomb on Overkill but crumples due to the sheer size of him. All downhill after that. Vendetta only just evades losing to DECAPITATOR after Sentry’s interference. Thrash nudged him causing the stun beam to miss but he still got into the ring to break the pin. Only to be powerfully thrown out as punishment for the intrusion. Soon after Thunder lunges at Vendetta with a spectacular diving choke slam. For Vendetta it’s too much to take and he is pinned. The Gladiators march on as the champions. Looking pretty unbeatable. Maybe if Rebel Empire wants tag gold they are better off looking in the CPC. The Gladiators don’t seem interested in those belts. It’s an easier path.
Wraith against Manslaughter goes to the time limit. Both guys have in the past few months been heavily involved in the IP belt scene. But whilst Manslaughter would love nothing more than to hold that belt again Wraith has aspirations of bigger things now. Encouraged by Max Shield he wants a slice of the Heavyweight belt pie. Whoever wins here would get a nice nudge along their chosen path. Trouble is it goes the way of neither. Not much happening in the match really. Wraith was saving up his invisibility for his finisher and the match was dragging. That was until Wraith accidentally mowed down the ref. Some sections of the crowd found that quite funny. The poor guy got taken clean out the ring. Wraith tries to help him but Manslaughter wouldn’t let him and continued the match. Took 10 moves til it was clear he couldn’t continue and a new guy entered. Unfortunately things didn’t liven up much after that and time expires. Darkos isn’t happy. Accusing the replacement ref of calling for the bell early because he was late for his biscuit break “you don’t get this level of unprofessionalism in the CPC”.
The Stormtroopers wins an entertaining battle with Hunters of Prey. A low key match to get the Hunters back in the swing of things. Cassandra is taking a chance. She keeps grabbing at Mollock trying to trigger a reaction that might give her guys a DQ win. The fans urge Mollock to grab across his knee and give her a spanking but he seems a bit bemused by this. Becomes a showcasing of Wildcat’s incredible conditioning. He takes HAMMER’S LOCK x2 and STORMTROOPER BLITZ x4 during a relentless battering. It was the former that finally finished him. The Hunter’s had their moments too with HUNTER’S STRIKE against Hammer and Barbarian Shuffle had Powerhouse in peril. Hammer was a naughty boy after the Shuffle smashing Karah down with a coconut which he had brought to ringside to mock his jungle status. It got missed thanks to Cassandra’s distractions and crucially put the Stormtroopers back in the box seat. Mollock if he’d seen it would of made greater efforts to help Wildcat later on but Cassandra had taken care of him too. Her constant grabs having failed to have the desired effect she then hands him a tablet showing a video loop about abused critters on Brymstone. Deflecting his attention as he stood looking all distressed and cradling the tablet.
Painmaster overcomes Blizzard by DQ. After promising Vertigo that he will not get above his station and demand another singles push Blizzard is given the nod to do a match with Painmaster. In fact both members of Feminine Fury are going solo this month as Buck Steele is now booked to face Vendetta at GALACTICON. Blizzard doesn’t get them off to a good start after losing here. After a difficult start where he was in THE TORTURE RACK twice early on he looked as if he was coming back for an impressive win. Using his finishers to really hurt Painmaster but he got too carried away with ICE ATTACK. Ignoring pleas from Vertigo to be careful. The ref took a glancing hit as well as Painmaster meaning that Blizzard had dug his own grave. Instant DQ. Vertigo on the outside slapped his forehead in frustration over the outcome.
Spike unconvincing against Gila. Spike warms up for his big meet with Mayhem by taking what should be a squash match. Gila certainly doesn’t mind jobbing to the top guys. He believes having beaten Monad this year he has the potential to pull off occasional upsets. Will Spike be one of the unlucky guys? For a while it looked like he could be. Has a lot of trouble getting this one chalked off and Gila even has a pin attempt after a Reptile Head Ram. After looking so good in recent matches it’s an alarming drop off from Spike. He would of been pretty relieved to of finally gotten it won after MEGADESTROYER. Whilst he was pinning Gila keeping a close eye on Mollock just in case. Am sure Spike would of tried to take him on but it didn’t come to that. Mollock only tends to react these days to acts of rulebreaking or extreme violence.
Mandrill destroyed Talon. Mandrill is one of those bullies who enjoys crushing weak opponents just as much as he does beating the stars. Talon bravely decides to take him on here. Mandrill laughs when they come face to face “that’s a bold name for such a puny weakling. I’d of called you Sparrow or even Blue Tit with the emphasis being very much on the ‘Tit’ part of your name”. Talon gets uncharacteristically angry and lunges but Mandrill just sidesteps and grabs his arm. Twists it behind the back and then face plants Talon. From then on wipes the floor with Talon. Prolonging the torture by refusing to pin Talon despite administering finishers. Eventually he grows bored and uses COLONIZER CLAW SLAM to win. Muttering “that felt good. Now I’m ready for Chaos”. Does that mean a match between them is incoming?

CARD 982 - PELF PALACE:
Surprising that the CPC hasn’t put up a big pay per view to go up against GALACTICON this month. Apparently they are so confident of their planned COUNTDOWN TO DESTRUCTION 2 event later this year it is not deemed necessary. As it stands this show is pretty stacked with the return of Bishop Hell as he seeks revenge upon Blazing Skull and Spike facing Mayhem, both matches in a cage, drawing lots of attention.
Blazing Skull easily bested Bishop Hell in a cage match. The long awaited return of the Bishop in the first of 3 ‘revenge’ matches. The Bishop’s promo is memorable as he startles Qualitar. Ignites his hand with HELLFIRE to illuminate his face “don’t worry Qualitar, it’s just mood lighting. But the mood will be far different for Blazing Skull. Remember if you play with fire, YOU WILL GET BURNED!!!” The cage is already awaiting them from the last match and they each have to climb their way in. Blazing has the greater agility and gets in first. Giving him the advantage so he can be ready for the Bishop. Grabbing him by the legs as he was still descending and yanking him down. A bad start for the Bishop as he comes down hard right on top of the turnbuckle. Ironically the match never caught ‘fire’ after this. The initial fall troubled the Bishop more than anyone expected. Blazing only has to knock him about for a couple minutes before a Skull Head Crack sees the Bishop’s legs fold like a baby giraffe’s. Blazing almost looks disappointed that it had not been more of a challenge. He spares the Bishop of another scorching and casually exits the structure. Bishop Hell vows he will be far better next time. Cites ring rust from his long lay off the reason he was not up to the task.
Spike defeats Mayhem in a gruelling cage match. This is a huge deal. Mayhem won their last encounter on #972 and also brutally savaged Spike afterwards. The scars still visible on Spike’s forehead. It was a tough loss to take but that was then and this is now. To make this even more gruelling there is no door in which to leave the cage. Had to be over the top. The two of them enter the ring as the cage is lowered around them. Mayhem cannot wait and piles into Spike. Trying to push his head under the ropes so the descending cage crushes him. Spike looks doomed but at the last second kicks him off. Gets to his feet and says “nice try”. Mayhem lunges again and it’s all on. This was super intense and something of a marathon. Mayhem does most of the heavy hitting but despite DANGER ZONE x3 just won’t be allowed out of the cage. Spike shows legendary levels of endurance to hang on in there. Mayhem ups his game with LEAP OF DOOM but his accuracy with it of late has been very poor. It’s not a surprise to see him miss again. Initially Spike doesn’t press the advantage. He’s ailing a bit and Mayhem is able to get control again, that is until he goes for this move a second time. Again it misses. Unbelievable. This time Spike grabs his big chance. An explosive run of moves starting with Deadly Decapitator and ending with MEGADESTROYER buys him enough time to clamber out of the cage. Mayhem managed to gets to his feet but Spike was halfway down the other side. Rather than reach through and grab him Mayhem lacks smarts and angrily shakes the cage almost off its hinges. Spike falls to the ground and wins as a result. A massive win for Spike who has had great success in the cage matches he has been involved in. He now moves on to trying to win the IP belt. He is strongly favoured to do it. Spike is willing to try and climb that hill as beyond that lies a path to the Heavyweight title again. The IP belt, so often chastised in Aethran society, is being seen as a necessary stepping stone by Spike.
CPC Rising totally outclasses Theatre of Pain to take possession of the CPC tag belts. Finally the CPC makes a proper effort to move these belts along by ordering Matador and Janus to step up to the plate. Commissioner Grogan calls it a promotion of status but given their once lofty positions as past Heavyweight champions they won’t see it as that. Nonetheless they obediently turn out. After both suffering recent slumps they are right on their game here. Comedy got totally outclassed. First by the Matador and then by Janus. Tragedy wasn’t able to get in and make any impact. It’s Janus that does the deed against Comedy with a CPC Super Drop. Thantos claps his approval from ringside. Suddenly from a pressurised position Thantos is now sitting pretty at the helm of Penthouse Suite. All 3 major CPC belts back within his team and the possibility to soon add the GWF Heavyweight belt. How quickly things can change. Already speculation on who will be the first challengers to CPC Rising. Rumblings that it will be a big surprise.
Brainstorm canters to a win over Lycosa to regain the CPC Cruiserweight title. GWF fans on Spacebook post ‘change the record’ as the CPC books Lycosa and Brainstorm again. It’s like they don’t know how to utilise this division properly. Admittedly it was far more interesting when Prodigy was in the mix but having tasted greater riches this belt is now seen as beneath him. Lycosa is so confident of defending the belt he actually goads Prodigy and says “get off your high horse and rejoin the Cruiserweights. Shows you don’t think you can beat me”. However his words sound flat against what actually happened here. Lycosa falters again after suffering a difficult opening spell. Even when he got a brief run offence it lacked rhythm. Brainstorm mainly in control and although it took three in total THE BRAINSTORMER means he regains the belt and starts yet another title run. Lycosa will be scratching his head. Brainstorm proving to be a bit of a bogey opponent. The outcome will annoy the CPC as they tire of Brainstorm being a champion in their organisation. They might of been thinking of pushing a future match between Prodigy and Lycosa especially after those early words. But it doesn’t quite have the same ring to it now. Not unless they grant Lycosa another title shot to try and reclaim. But surely they can’t after all his failures and the fact people are getting bored with the Lycosa-Brainstorm formula. Or could they?
Velar quickly disposed of Ms. Liberty to remain both CPC and GWF ladies champion. Still unified much to the frustration of the GWF. They need one of their roster to win both belts to give them more creative control to try and get them split apart again. Sadly not much hope on Ms. Liberty achieving that despite her recent surprise surge in form. In an attempt to make sure that doesn’t happen Terminus is allowed to accompany Velar. Probably ordered to do so. No such luxury for Ms. Liberty who would of appreciated the company of her husband after realising this. It seems to have quite the effect on her. Ms. Liberty offers next to nothing and Velar needs little more than a minute to win via HAMMERLOCK SLAM and continue on holding both belts.
Awesome Studs beat X-Termination by DQ under murky circumstances. Wild stuff. The match went back and forth. Finishers aplenty and lots of tokens on every guy. Then a huge controversy as it looks like a victory for X-Termination over the Studs as Grunge finally pins Dynamo in the ring. However, at the same time, the other partners and both managers were all brawling outside the ring. Almost simultaneously Sleeze is slamming Vanity into the announcer’s table. The bell goes off and both teams are celebrating. Before the ref gives his verdict Commissioner Grogan decides to flex his authority. He comes out and rules the table slam had happened first and favours the CPC wrestlers. Johnny Rocket, not for this first time at the Palace, is going nuts over the decision. He points at Grogan and then the gallery “you won’t keep getting away with this. The fans won’t stand for such chicanery. The GWF will win this fed war”.
The Creeper shocks Monad with a deserved DQ win. Gila teases Monad by being at ringside with the Creeper instead of either Terak or Mollock. He hopes Monad is still having nightmares about the time he beat him at Pelf Palace. His handling of the Creeper shows leadership qualities. Something previously unthinkable of Gila. It pays off handsomely as Monad has another shocker. Almost pinned within a handful of moves via ELIMINATOR. Doomsayer was taking no chances and got in with a distraction. Would Monad of been pinned? I guess we’ll never know. But the moment unsettled him. Monad barely mustered any decent offence and when he did ended up ruining it with a needless attempt to attack Gila. The ref, one of the more impartial ones in the CPC, decided such an act warranted a disqualification.
Terminus pinned Meteor. Terminus looking for an easy ride ahead of COUNTDOWN TO GALACTICON (where he is booked to face Malice in a daunting match). They don’t come much easier than Meteor. Naturally it’s one-sided but Meteor actually held on through 3 pin attempts and one race to beat the count back into the ring before Terminus put him away with HAMMERLOCK SLAM. Terminus probably had to work a tad harder than he would of liked to of done.

CARD 983 – COUNTDOWN TO GALACTICON – NIAGARA TOWER OF LIGHTS:
The cash flow problems plaguing the GWF are put to the back of everyone’s minds. GALACTICON is here and despite a few budget cuts in production and some other things it’s time to get in the mood. The traditional countdown show is almost as big as the main show itself. Wrestlers that don’t make the cut for GALACTICON itself often don’t grumble if they are featured here. CPC presence is heavy. It’s never clear what they might do for GWF events. In the past they have boycotted certain events to try and impact the success but that’s not the case here. They want their wrestlers in the spotlight and competing for GWF honours.
Interplanetary champ, Pulsar, is courageous in only losing to Spike by DQ. Pulsar vows to overcome his injuries and pull off another stunning win. His injury has been downgraded from severe to moderate but still makes a big impact on his stats. He boldly says “I may not be moving too good at the moment but I’ve still got ACID RAIN in my locker. It will leave Spike blind as a bat”. However the size of the task quickly becomes apparent as in only the third move of the match Spike strikes with MEGADESTROYER. Pulsar somehow musters enough to get a shoulder up. Able to do because of such a casual cover from Spike. The subsequent battering is relentless as Pulsar is tossed here, there and everywhere. But he defies his injuries to keep evading being pinned. Even when Spike did his finisher again. It is visibly annoying Spike that Pulsar just won’t flush but the champ is now extremely token laden (6) . A small source of comfort for Pulsar is that Spike was now getting reckless. Pulsar managed to reverse a knee cracker for his first offensive move of the match and it starts an improbable fightback that brings most of the crowd to its feet. A nifty handspring elbow next. Done with such fluidity that it laughed in the face of his ailments. A couple more quick moves and then ACID RAIN gets thrown. Spike walked straight into it and grabs at his eyes whist reaching out with his other arm. Stumbles around and then falls right over the ropes. Pulsar was just about to try and now finish him off but is stopped in his tracks by the dreaded bell. Sadly he was disqualified for the move. But it felt like a win especially given how he had overcome his injuries and some devastating offence. Of course the outcome means this won’t be over. A rematch is a certainty. But by then Pulsar will be fitter and stronger. He might just be able to see off his challenge and move on still holding the belt.
Death’s Head dominated Mutant to win the Cruiserweight belt. Like watching paint dry. These two aren’t exactly what one would visualise when describing Cruiserweights. It’s a far cry from past title matches where dazzling moves are the norm. There’s barely a wrestling move here. Just lots of biting, scratching and kicking. At least the Terrorists were not present. That would of rendered the match no chance of having a decisive winner. Could it be that they secretly fear the Brymstonians? No such luck with Maleph though. The winged demon was flapping about causing the usual degree of intimidation. It came as no surprise to see the belt switch hands. Mutant’s initial wild attacks were easily picked off by Death’s Head. An out of ring assault involving a skull left Death’s Head with an easy climax. A relentless run with FUNERAL MARCH left Mutant barely moving and Death’s Head cracks that evil toothy smile before pinning it. Malelph flies over to the announcer’s table immediately and picks the Cruiserweight belt up in his talons. Flies several feet above the ring and drops it into the hands Death’s Head stood below him. It gets held out by his long, boney fingers. Purists voice their displeasure. This of all the belts has no business being among violent evil types such as the Brymstonians.
Thunder and Overkill crushed Desolation Factor in a non title match. Feels like it’s been forever coming. One of the most anticipated feuds of the year finally begins. But just like buses when one comes along three more will immediately follow. Desolation Factor haven’t exactly lived up to their rep so far but it doesn’t make this any less anticipated. Perhaps they’ve been saving it all up for Thunder and Overkill? Nothing much is said at the beginning. Both teams enter the ring and wait for that moment when all chaos will break loose. As soon as that bell sounded. No point expending a single ounce of energy before that. A wild brawl is the way it begins but when it settles we are left with Ruin against Thunder. Little did Rack know it as he went to the apron that was the sum of his actions. Ruin got cut off and worked over by both Gladiators. He wasn’t given a moments peace and ultimately went down to a double undertook DDT administered by Thunder. Once pinned Thunder beckoned Overkill to continue attacking. They double teamed Ruin and ended up throwing him towards Rack who tried to stop them. It had more to do with the earlier punishment rather than the post match attacking but Ruin picks up a niggling 1 card injury. The whole thing had been a complete doddle for the Gladiators and they look well set for the big one at GALACTICON especially with Ruin’s minor injury now being a factor. Doomsayer says this meant nothing and it is what happens next that will be remembered, “Blunder and Overspill are overrated buffoons. Desolation Factor will run over them next week”.
Terminus overcame Malice in a Castor Chain match. Terminus is a glutton for special matches. After his brutal special matches challenge against Wolf last year you’d of thought he’d seen enough of them for a lifetime. Yet here he is facing Malice in a dangerous chain match. He needs to be careful though as the young Gladiator is hot at the moment. Malice makes a high energy start and goes straight after Terminus with the chain. But Terminus has greater experience in this type of match and skilfully reverses many of the attacks and keeps himself from greater harm. Some painful misses for Malice were experienced. A falling fist with the chain wrapped round his hand typifying. Malice buried the pain of a possible broken hand and still put a couple of tokens onto Terminus. It gets pretty brutal as the chain is utilised almost constantly at one point. Tough to call how this might end as they both have big moments. The biggest of which saw Terminus go for a deathjump. On this occasion he dispenses with the chain so he can get maximum elevation and accuracy. He plowed into Malice with tremendous force. The huge Gladiator tried to catch Terminus as he connected but nobody was going to be able stay standing from a hit like that. Terminus now sensed victory. He wrapped the chain around Malice’s throat for good measure. Held it there for about half a minute and then went for HAMMERLOCK SLAM. It was more than enough to render Malice too weak for any response. The win goes to Terminus and given how strong Malice has been looking it is very significant. Having fallen away a little Terminus is now back among the elite. Will he be rewarded in the CPC or GWF? Or maybe both organisations will give him a push.
US. Patriot takes down Chaos in a ‘Sam’s Brawl’ match. This old match from the classics era sees the light of day again. Commander Sam challenged Chaos on Adam’s behalf and got accepted. Chaos is keen to put a powerful display out and give Mandrill something to think about. But it will be tough. Adam has received special training from Sam on how to deal with this match and receives the same cheeky stats boost that he did back in the day. Not a huge deal was happening for a while though. Fans were disappointed that the action is not coming outside. Then things take a sudden twist. Sentry skulks to ringside and starts taking shots at them both. Chaos got very disturbed and Adam was able to take advantage and nail him with ADAM’S ATOMIC BLAST. It’s not clear if it was that move or a possible hit from Sentry that was responsible for Chaos then being pinned. Either way it’s a huge result for Adam. But he’s unable to celebrate as the shots keep on coming. Sentry looks in the mood to take Adam out too and also inflict further damage to Chaos. A huge cheer then goes up as Commander Sam rushes through the curtain and takes him out from behind. The saving act was for the benefit of Adam but there is also gratitude from Chaos as he clambers to his feet. Not too much as it was a barely perceptible nod. But pretty significant nonetheless. Means Chaos can go to the GALACTICON match with Mandrill in full health. The defeat here will not be too damaging to his confidence. In his mind Adam only won because of Sentry’s intrusion.
Heracles beats Colussus by DQ. It’s almost become a GALACTICON tradition to have these two enemies face off but this time around it’s importance has gone down a notch as it’s on the countdown show instead. There was a very early mistake from Colussus. The bell hadn’t even sounded and he tries to ambush Heracles. Lining up to mimic OLYMPIA but his posture was all wrong and he bounced off. Heracles wastes no time making him pay. Locks in with a Heracles Power Clamp for a long spot that lasted a couple minutes. Shortly after finally releasing he piles into Colussus with OLYMPIA. Taunts “that’s how you do it freak”. On covering the count is broken by Thantos reaching in to place the leg of Colussus onto the rope. The referee, known for overreacting, disqualified Heracles immediately. Some of the crowd heckled the ref for ruining things. Was shaping up to be a great match until he did that. Heracles was fuming that the match was ruined too. Maybe he wanted to show Thantos he has a mean streak that might fit in with the CPC as he proceeds to give Colussus some afters. Dragging him over to the turnbuckle. Once Colussus was in place he then smashed him over and over with OLYMPIA. Ten or maybe even twenty times. It was pretty brutal and nobody was stopping him. By the time he was eventually finished Colussus looked like a wreck. Stretchers were brought out and he had to be carted away. Diagnosis was expected to be grim but although he suffered abdominal bruising he is only set to miss a couple of cards.
Jack of Diamonds over Mad Jester by DQ. Sometimes your biggest enemies are the ones that come smiling and bringing gifts. Jester comes out and says to Jack he is ready to shed this image once and for all. Offering Jack a present to thank him for all his support. Jack has been caught out before with these type of tricks but considering the Defender persona has been more common than the Jester one lately it might be safe to accept this time. Wrong. He unwraps the box and gets blasted by a noxious green gas from whatever was inside. Jack stumbles around looking dizzy and coughing. The effects wear off pretty quick but it gave Jester the jump on him. Commander Sam instead of Star Warrior is at ringside. Jack looks a bit panicked under the early barrage but Sam urges him to keep calm and carry on. Thankfully Jack manages a fightback of sorts but he is second best to Jester most of the time. Found himself tangled in the ropes. Jester looks like he might be wrestling the inner demons in his mind as he prepares to go for A DEAD MAN’S VERSE. Eventually the evil side wins and he nails Jack. The ref, who along with Sam had been desperately trying to free him, now signals the ball for the DQ. Jester appears to be ready to keep assaulting Jack as he proclaims “and now for a post match attack … from one of Jack’s friends”. Bizarrely Jester now puts his own hands round his throat and starts strangling himself. Then reaches to the back of his head and proceeds to bury himself into all the turnbuckles. Jack finally gets freed and rushes over “stop doing this to yourself my friend”. But he gets pushed away. Jesters final act is to throw himself over the top rope landing head first into some tables. The pain of the impact finally ending the strange display of self harm. Mad Jester has injured himself for 2 cards. The match notes don’t do justice to how odd this was as they simply refer to Jack being saved from a post match attack from Jester by Defender of the Realm.
Titan Fury beats Enigma and Lycosa by DQ. All the talk is about Titan Express reforming but Dragonmaster wants to make sure Titan Fury isn’t forgotten about. Hopefully they’d do the job here on the jumping Assassins. Enigma and Lycosa look like they’ve got the hump. Recent results have not been going their way and a tag team link up is probably not something they need. But Darkos likes having them as a teaming option as well as the Ninjas. So he was insistent. Their lack of enthusiasm resonated in the performance. The Titans dominate. A ref bump only served to prolong the match. Whilst the ref was out Rising Sun put plenty of damage on Lycosa. His SUNSET SPECTACULAR x3 left Lycosa in a bad way. With the match official restored the Titans go on to execute DAY OF THE DRAGON which somehow Lycosa kicked out. Only barely. DM gave no respite though. Followed straight up with COBRA NERVE STOPPER. Darkos knows he had to do something as the match would surely be lost. An attempt at interfering resulted in him being levelled with a spectacular kick by DM but at least it didn’t give the Titans the satisfaction of a decisive victory. The DQ win is something they will not be quite as buoyant about.
