CARD 984 – GALACTICON 21 – DEIMOS INTERGALACTIC ARENA:
Total sell out of which will make the fed investors happy. Mega stacked event with big matches everywhere. Most of the major incidents are covered in the match descriptions but there was some drama that needs a little more flavour involving Max Shield. He is not having the best of times lately and things get worse as he got attacked outside the venue. It was in a remote area. Max had been feeling the nerves ahead of his big match and stepped out for some fresh air (and maybe a crafty cigarette). Unfortunately he hadn’t told anybody where he was going and was a sitting duck. Before he knew what was happening a stun beam struck him and then members of the Colonizers including Rebel Empire and Painmaster pile in. Nefarus, his intended opponent, is the ringmaster. Unfortunately it happened so quick Max never saw that it was them. Nor was there any footage. So the Colonizers go unpunished due to a lack of evidence.
Pegasus triumphs over Paragon by DQ in the much anticipated GWF/CPC Heavyweight title match. A nervous watch for Commissioners. They desperately want to avoid Paragon winning. Morpheus has gone so far as to tell the referee to have zero tolerance for misdemeanours and not to hesitate to call a DQ. Paragon and Thantos better be on their best behaviour. Paragon oozes confidence. Holding the CPC belt again has inflated his ego even more. He warns Pegasus that he is not content with just being the CPC Heavyweight champion, “winning is like a drug. I want more. Your cheap GWF belt will be a welcome addition to my collection”. There is a lot of pressure on Pegasus to do the job but you wouldn’t of thought it. He is all smiles down the runway. Stopping for pictures and signing autographs. That is until he is rudely interrupted by Paragon who demands Pegasus take the GWF belt off right away “I don’t want your body odour getting on my belt a second longer than it has to”. Pegasus pushes him off aggressively. Paragon looks like he wants to start there and then but Thantos convinces him to back off. Whispering “don’t give this corrupt organisation any excuse to rule a DQ. Do your talking in the ring”. Paragon nods and then gestures with his arm to Pegasus ‘after you’. Pegasus heads off. Happy to turn his back because he knew Paragon didn’t dare try anything. Nonetheless Star Warrior watches Paragon and Thantos like a hawk all the way to the ring. Finally both men engage and noise levels go up from the crowd. Massive chants for Pegasus, their ‘hero of heroes’. Doesn’t take long for the first big moment to arrive. Pegasus levelled Paragon with a bone-crunching clothesline followed by a flying elbow drop. Two tokens put on Paragon just like that. Thantos looked worried as a Cetus Figure Four then follows but breathes easier as Paragon powerfully drags them both towards the ropes forcing a break. Pegasus tries to keep the pressure applied but runs into a brief flurry of offence from Paragon. Only for Pegasus to hear the cheers of his legions of fans and surge back again. Just as things seem like they are about to get interesting it all ends abruptly. Paragon bails out under pressure. Pegasus wanted him back in the ring as soon as possible and follows. Despite the warnings of Thantos we see Paragon grabbing Pegasus and throwing him towards the ring post. Star Warrior got knocked over in the process. We had the remarkable sight of Thantos helping them both up. He knows Paragon messed up and desperately wants the ref to be lenient if he is seen helping. Of course he doesn’t mean it at all and the ref sees through the deception. As per instructions from the top he rules an immediate DQ. Thantos shows true colours and attacks Star Warrior as soon as he learned of this. Bodyslamming him down and then shouting “corrupt b*stards”. He snaps his fingers and Paragon obediently follows. He has now lost in the main event at the second consecutive GALACTICON. Pegasus initially looks delighted. He may not of acquired the CPC belt but he’d won the match that mattered most. Unfortunately some of the crowd don’t share his joy. They didn’t like the outcome at all. Within hours of the show being over there is a massive Spacebook thread discussing some of the worst matches ever. This one features very prominently in the heated discussions.
Mandrill beats Chaos in a Hydra Lumberjack match to become the villain leader. Here we go. The match that has unofficially been given the title as the battle for villain team control. With the loser expected to fall into line (fat chance of that really happening if Mandrill is the one who gets beat). Mandrill loves that Chaos hasn’t got too many friends. Chaos put out a plea for a fourth lumberjack to join Heracles and the Stormtroopers but got no support. So they are outnumbered by Rebel Empire, Painmaster and Sentry. Before anything begins Mandrill takes a stand in the centre of the ring. Grabs a floating mic and gives an address to Chaos, stood outside with his lumberjacks, about what he expects of him once control of the villain team is his. The mocking goes on for about a minute before Chaos enters the ring and yawns in Mandrill’s face. Alpha Stone or not Chaos still believes he is the most powerful force in the cosmos and to prove it offers Mandrill a test of strength. Everyone is watching as Mandrill slowly complies and takes a grip but then in a typically heelish act buries a knee into the groin of Chaos. He smiles and says “a move like that will bring even the most powerful of entities to their knees. But you are not powerful. You are weak and puny without your stone and it will now be proven in front of trillions”. Chaos struggles to look up and focus on the taunts. The cheap shot had left him gasping for breath. The dramatic start was just the tip of the iceberg. A 5* star classic emerges from this feud. Early control from Mandrill. Chaos eventually manages to shake off the effects of the early assault and comes back into it. In one incredible sequence Mandrill looks as if he might be able to pin Chaos. However the Stormtroopers managed to get past everyone into the ring and double team Mandrill. The beating puts Chaos ontop and he then grabs BOW OF DEFEAT. Rebel Empire and Sentry go after the Stormtroopers for doing that and a brawl breaks out between them. Heracles gets caught up in it too. The extra lumberjack for Mandrill becomes pivotal now. Sentry is totally free and he now enters the ring to smash Chaos from behind with his gun. So we were back where we started with Mandrill in the pinning position. Chaos ought really to of been beaten by that. It was a ferocious blow that would knock most normal beings out but faced with the loss of villain team control he musters a kickout. The crowd gasps but the momentum is really with Mandrill now. With Chaos carrying 5 tokens he was probably only one more big move away from defeat. Mandrill deals a Rack Power Bomb and covers again. Unbelievable as Chaos brings a shoulder up. This was amazing and Mandrill looks really ticked off. Almost like he might just give up. Decides to go for one last big move in the form of COLONIZER CLAW SLAM. Chaos finally goes still and with his lumberjacks all otherwise engaged the end is nigh. Mandrill covers again and puts all his weight down just in case there is any fight back. But this time there isn’t. Mandrill wins. He kicks Chaos out of his ring so he can stand there like some kind of king. Grabs the mic again and orders the Stormtroopers and Heracles to stop brawling and pledge their support by coming into ring and going down on one knee before him. Emotions are high and his orders are ignored. Maybe in time they will fall into the line. He lets the brawl continue and turns his attention to Chaos who is now beginning to clear his head and is on his feet. Points a finger “you will acknowledge me as your leader. I am sparing you as you will be useful to me. Now go and do not let me down. You have been warned”. Chaos says nothing but if looks could kill. Sometimes that says more than any words.
Thunder and Overkill steamrolled Desolation Factor in a best of 3 special matches challenge. Belts were not on the line but there was much more to it than mere belts. This was a battle between dimensions. The best each has to offer in tag teams. Although must be said that Doomsayer has been mystified by the poor performances of Desolation Factor but that could all be rectified here on arguably what is the biggest stage in wrestling. It’s a futile exercise trying control these two teams. Behind the curtain their paths crossed and they are already brawling. It’s pretty chaotic back there but they finally burst through and start the first fall, a Titan Death match, in the runway. Somehow it makes it into the ring and immediate drama as Thunder tries to bodyslam Rack but collapses under the weight for a near pin. Hairy moment for the Gladiators but it’s just a minor blip. Once they get going they look so superior. Ruin got in all sorts of bother against them. Overkill squashed him with TURNBUCKLE TRAP and then he falls to DECAPITATOR. Desolation Factor really on the back foot now. Ruin will be extremely fatigued for what’s left of this match … Second fall sees Massif come down to try and control the match as the special ref. Sometimes he gets some hostility but all the combatants are too tired to give much grief. He rules with an iron hand but in fairness he didn’t have too much to do. The Gladiators quickly pick up where they left off and manage to isolate Ruin again. Thunder may of crumpled attempting a power move earlier but that doesn’t stop him trying again. Successfully picks Ruin up in an Aethran Power Bomb which shakes the ring. Overkill blocks the attempted run in by Rack and it’s over. The Gladiators had coasted to victory. Third fall isn’t needed but it would of seen the referees switched and Scourge officiating. This was at the insistence of the CPC to ‘make things fair’. They were too shortsighted to think that it might of been over by then. Not sure where this leaves Desolation Factor. It’s killed any heat they had. Totally lukewarm and seriously stumbling since coming to this dimension.
Archon and the Centaurians sweep Blazing Skull, Anarchy and Death’s Head in a 6 man tag elimination match. Maleph trying to stir things up by saying Pulsar had abandoned the Centaurians to pursue his whimsical dream of reforming Titan Express. Archon won’t hear of it. All he cares about is winning this match and not engaging in some silly war of words. He hopes the team ethic of the Centaurians will carry them through. A polar opposite to their opponents who are literally fighting amongst themselves to be the first in the ring. Archon makes their mind up for them by targeting Blazing Skull. The action then moves between them all in a long first fall before settling on Blazing and Archon again. Blazing managed to roast Archon with DEATH BY FIRE. Luckily it’s the lesser version (+3) but Blazing still pays the price of a DQ to leave his team in a pickle … Next to fall is Death’s Head. The Centaurians won’t thank me for saying it but they are on fire. Talisman does brilliant to set Death’s Head up for his partner. Blade comes in full of energy and rattles Death’s Head with SWITCHBLADE KICK. Unable to finish there and then due to Maleph but not long after a Centaurus Leg Lock gets rid of him. Looking like this could be a sweep. Unless Erebus can pull something off … Archon eliminated Erebus who has no idea how to handle this situation. Gets hit from all angles and Archon easily beat him with an ELBOW HYPEREXTENSION which had followed ARCHON SLEEPER CLAMP. Incredible how easy this had been for the Centaurians. Blame must lie with Blazing Skull getting himself needlessly disqualified so early on. The Brymstonians were also unable to create any post match trauma as some kind of revenge. Each time one of them was eliminated security was on hand to escort them away.
Carnage beats Wolf in a bloody Titan Death match. Carnage has been creating a lot of news. Everyone pretty much knows who it is but until he is unhooded taking proper action is impossible. Commissioner Morpheus is visible for the bout. Taking his seat with the officials for a close up. Will he be getting his hands dirty? The intensity is off the charts. More times in and out the ring than you’d care to count. Carnage almost fatally misses LEAP OF DOOM (that’s what the commentators are calling the move) and everyone cheers on one of Wolf’s usual comebacks in response. He wrestles with great vigour but just cannot get his famed claw latched on. His obsession to try proves his undoing. Mistakes creep in and Carnage gets a second wind. Forging a chance to hit LEAP OF DOOM again. Connects this time. Barely as it’s a +4 impact. Place goes silent as Wolf is pinned. Carnage then mounts the middle turnbuckle to milk the moment. Suddenly Morpheus rises and showing he still has some moves jumps onto the apron and clotheslines Carnage down. Shocking moment. It’s a bad fall for Carnage and Wolf now crawls over to him. Encouraged by the crowd he puts on SAVAGE FACE CLAW and then sets about trying to reveal the identity of Carnage. Morpheus doesn’t bat an eyelid as Wolf rips the hood off the black bodysuit to reveal Mayhem. Morpheus calmly walks forward to a mic on this not so shocking reveal and orders security to ‘remove this intruder with force’. Mayhem fights with a few of them but is drained from the whole saga and overwhelmed. Especially when Wolf gets in there and helps them out. With the gimmick rumbled after such a short time Mayhem must now return to the CPC with his tail between his legs. Everyone has already forgotten that he’d actually won the match. The game is up before it really ever got started. He was found a few hours later by staff at Pelf Palace dressed in a baby costume, gagged with a dummy and handcuffed to a statue at the entrance looking worse for wear. A scribbled note tucked into him saying “please give me a good home. Nobody loves me and I am not wanted anywhere”.
Draconian Sheik paints the town red against Dark Justice in a Barbed Wire Cage match. By putting this in a barbed cage the Terrorists wouldn’t be able to ruin the match between these two like they did last year. Justice took quite the beating back then. But this time is confident especially as he is able to bring the rod in with him. The GWF allowed it for his own protection as Drac often uses objects hidden in his attire. Most officials are afraid to frisk Drac so it seemed simpler. One got bitten once when trying to check. Unfortunately it does him no good. A strong start that saw him bury Drac into the barbed sides for early blood spillage quickly unravels. Drac fights back with an instinctive bite of Justice’s fingers. He then fiddles with his headdress and removes an object. Opens it up and places it on his head. Looks like a crown of thorns except instead of thorns it’s barbs. Justice knows this doesn’t look good. Makes a desperate grab for his rod but before he can get it a head butt comes his way which splits his forehead wide open. Drac groans excitedly at the sight of even more blood and proceeds to torture Justice with DRACONIAN BACKBREAKER for the win. Drac doesn’t want to stop but to prevent this getting too gory GWF officials have high pressured hoses to get him away from Justice. The cage is then raised and Justice removed. Bloody but safe at least. Of course no loser ever gets away with this match without being injured. Justice is no exception and he will be sidelined for 4 cards (1 month of game time).
Matador of M83 disposes of Vengeance in a quick match. Vengeance keen to show he is still the best singles wrestler on the Gladiators by surpassing Malice and beating the Matador even quicker. Matador, despite assuming responsibility of being co-holder of the tag belts, is being assured by Thantos he will still be pushed strongly in singles action. I suppose this booking shows that. Personally I smell bullsh*t but Matador appears content with everything he is being told. He warns Malice’s win was nothing more than a fluke and normal service resumes tonight “Vengeance cannot live with my skills even if he tries any funny business with an illegal object”. Makes good on his words. A lightening fast start catches Vengeance out. Match barely ticked past a minute as he unloads BULLWHIP for the win. Vengeance never knew what hit him. Sits up afterwards. Still a little dazed with a ‘did that really happen’ look. The Gladiators may be in complete control of their feud against the CPC but this outcome shows it is not all smooth sailing.
Titan Express gets the better of Ninja Assassins by DQ. They promised they would do it! Fair play to Pulsar for doing it even when injured and only just having had a gruelling battle with Spike over the IP belt. He should really be resting up. DM sung his praises before the match “no disrespect to Rising Sun but Pulsar was the greatest partner I ever had. He is my closest friend and supported me through the dark times when I was Pit Viper. Even when I was opposing him on the side of Krakan or the Masked Assassins he kept contacting me and letting me know the door was always open. That’s proper friendship right there”. It took a while for the crowd noise to die down but once it does we have a corker of a match. Some of the old magic is there and both teams are giving everything. Pulsar had a few close calls but his mate was always there to get him out of a jam. Their friendship overcomes the physical disadvantages of age and injury and gets them a fairytale win. Okay it’s not by pin fall rather by DQ due to the transgressions of Hydrax against DM. But if you’d offered that result to the Titans before the match they’d of snapped your hand off. Hugs all round at the end. Even one between Pulsar and Lord Nexus. Real feel good factor about all this. Even the Assassins let them be and quietly left.
Prodigy over Skinhead by DQ. The old rivalry is back. Skinhead has always had trouble getting the better of Prodigy but feels much different now. He is ready to finally show Prodigy who is boss. Although he needed to keep a lid on his manager, Johnny Rocket. Johnny is still seething over what happened at Pelf Palace and making an even bigger nuisance of himself. He was living a charmed life with the ref over his actions. For his own good he should really of been sent packing before he either gets his guy disqualified or is assaulted by Thantos (again). Inside the ring Prodigy is slightly taken back by Skinhead’s desire and realises this might be tougher than anticipated. Even Thantos putting Skinhead in MASTERLOCK outside (and getting away with it!!!) doesn’t curtail him. Skinhead surges back but just when you thought he might be on the verge of something Johnny Rocket does ruin it. He never calmed down properly and was raging when Thantos did what he did. His decision to try and take matters into his own hands and attack Prodigy with his mic led to the DQ. Skinhead didn’t know it was coming and had no distraction routine planned. Angered by the outcome Skinhead continues the assault with Johnny who hands him the mic so the blows can be delivered with more force. They don’t get too many in as Thantos storms in with a hastily grabbed chair clearing the ring. Prodigy was unhappy afterwards and dares Johnny to face him “you obviously think you can mix it in the ring. So why don’t you slap a singlet on that puny body and try to beat me”.
Vendetta triumphed over Buck Steele by DQ. These days more used to seeing Buck in tag action but there is no question the fans love it when he goes solo. More chance of seeing Genocide. If the change happens then Vendetta, being the most powerful Colonizer, might stand a decent chance against him. Not that Genocide is invincible as quite a few have proved. But he still represents an incredible force that is hard to stop. Vendetta would not have protection from Sentry to call upon. The Colonizer bodyguard being held back for Mandrill’s match which Vendetta would also be involved in as a lumberjack. Vendetta was lucky not to awaken Genocide. Had several failed pin attempts. Buck survives and valiantly comes back by slugging him a couple times with ROPE-A-DOPE FLURRY. Sadly nothing doing on getting a successful pin. Several more minutes of back and forth before things got heated outside the ring. Buck gets a little carried away as he smashed Vendetta with the timekeeper’s bell during a brawl. He only did it because Vendetta looked to be going for it but Buck was quicker and got it first. Decent entertainment despite the outcome.
The Mercenaries shoot down CPC Lottery. Vyper and Splatter facing lots of enemies in recent weeks. This time it’s the turn of the Mercenaries. The rivalry being given the grandest stage of all. Splatter cares little for the spectacle calling it “just another match where I get to cause suffering to those I detest”. It’s interesting to note CPC Lottery are very feared but so far they have not launched a combined lottery attack on anyone. We are wondering who the first lucky recipient might be. Although that wouldn’t be happening here. By booking this as a regular match the GWF hoped it would water down the violence. But from the moment they all locked up it was anything but. With guns, clubs and snakes in the mix how could it not be. The referee would need to show a fair degree of lenience if this was to be any kind of spectacle. Incredibly, given the cast, it would be one of the few regular matches that didn’t end in DQ. Lots of highlights. Vigilante looked like he would finish Splatter with LIFE SENTENCE only to have his moment snatched away by Vyper intruding. Vigilante goes after Vyper but the chase reverses when a snake is pulled. Vigilante beats the count and gets in the ring in a hurry only to be floored with MEET ARSENAL. Lucky it wasn’t the cleanest hit and Vigilante only allowed a 2 count against him. Splatter is annoyed his trusty club didn’t get the job done so went with THE SHREDDER. Again Vigilante musters a kickout and what’s more a hot tag soon after. Soldier of Fortune makes a big difference. Rolling back the years and getting the Mercenaries going again. He signals for a double team move and Vigilante is suitably recovered to oblige. They set up a spike piledriver which really rattles Splatter. Vigilante now temporarily leaves the ring to take out Vyper. The ref missed him using his rifle to strike him down. Snake phobia apparently cured as Vyper had been holding out a snake at the time. He then returns to initiate OPERATION: AMBUSH which means the end of the road for Splatter.
Enigma too good for Rising Sun. Whilst Rising Sun is very dedicated to Titan Fury he is thinking about a future where DM has retired. With that in mind a run in the Cruiserweight division is not beyond realms of possibility. Rising Sun certainly has the potential to raise the bar and here was the perfect proving ground against one of the best there is in the category. Except he was in danger of getting bogged down with mind games. Rising Sun was striking martial artistry poses whilst Enigma does dramatic somersaults and tricks with the ropes. All we needed was a panel of judges. Tired fans start to voice displeasure. Enough of this shadow dancing. Get on with it. Rising is not used to hearing negativity and it jolts him into action. Unfortunately Enigma’s greater experience in singles matches serves him well. He is generally a step ahead of Rising. Controlling most of the match. Rising was trying not to go out the ring at any point despite several opportunities to roll out for a possible breather. He didn’t want to give Enigma a chance to hit his finisher. But despite his best efforts Enigma got him with it anyway. Managing to throw him outside and quickly launching FEET OF FURY. Rising Sun had survived it once but a second one was too much to handle and he slumps to a disappointing defeat.
Monad crushed Defender of the Realm. Defender looks stressed as he pokes his head through the curtain. Crowd heckles him after what he did on the countdown show. It gets worse as he then fully emerges dressed bottom half Jester and top half Defender. He tries to shrug their boos off. Wants to show them how committed he is to winning his split personality battle by taking Monad to the cleaners despite the conflict and the carrying of those self inflicted injuries. Doomsayer shows where his priorities lie by not being at ringside with Monad. Preferring to be with Desolation Factor (wrestling later) as long as possible. Monad goes for Defender not knowing really who he is wrestling. Luckily Defender wrestles back in a heroic style. Surely he wouldn’t be switching mid match. Although I guess anything’s possible. Perhaps he would of fared better if he had because Monad totally owned him in this one. Once on offence it is very hard to stop him with all those arms. Defender just cannot cope and gets pulled apart with SURFBOARD SUBMISSION x2. It was only a two minute contest.
Nefarus over Max Shield by forfeit. No show from Max. Big concern for his safety. Has he been kidnapped? Just as the forfeit result is being announced Dreadnaught, who was desperate to be part of the bill, runs out and offers to take Max’s place but is denied his opportunity. Nefarus tells everyone he had it on good authority Max had been laid low with a sickness bug. That goes out the window when much later in the show Max is found beat up pretty bad amid the garbage at the back of the arena. Whose handywork was this? Dreadnaught even got accused at one point because of how he tried to wrestle the match instead. He was desperate to be involved having not made the cut to be booked on a single show this month. Maybe he was willing to go so far as to assault Max. But he is later given an alibi from a credible source. The reality is Max never saw his attackers and even though there are no admissions of guilt the Colonizers are strongly suspected of foul play.
DARK MATCHES
Brainstorm over Vanity by count-out. The battle over the babe continues. Except she’s not even here. Brainstorm storms out accusing Vanity of stealing his chick but then sees she’s not with him. Where was she? Maybe she’s busy helping Pegasus ‘relax’ ahead of his big main event match. Darla then runs in and hands over her phone. On it a text message from Maxine Babe “soz, I’m getting implants. See you in a couple of weeks”. Brainstorm angrily throws down Darla’s phone and stomps it to bits causing her to cry. This guy is amazing. He’s supposed to be a face. After all he’s on a hero team now. But he’s just a real bad egg and keeps doing horrible things. Vanity and Dynamo (accompanying Vanity so he might have a chance of pulling off his finisher) find it quite funny. But the smile soon disappears when Brainstorm then starts to take his anger out on them. Vanity struggles to cope and on first opportunity bails out the ring. Whilst out there a particularly voluptuous young girl in the crowd wolf whistles him. Vanity decides a possible beating is not worth passing up an opportunity like this and takes the count-out loss to go off and seduce her. Brainstorm offers Dynamo up to take Vanity’s place but he’s not interested and leaves too. Frustrating for the crowd and hardly has them warmed up for the live show.
Anaxis and Thrash beat Amazonia and Supernova by DQ. Spritely start driven by Supernova. Maybe she was wanting to show the ladies shouldn’t be kept in the dark. But her energy was soon tamed as the never ending feud between Amazonia and Thrash started to take centre stage. It boiled over and Amazonia smashed Thrash with her shield to cause the DQ loss. Supernova was perfectly entitled to be unhappy with her partner over this. Although she will be cheered by the news that her father, Omega, is going to push her next month to take on Velar in a bid to bring the ladies belt back into GWF territory.

Unfortunately it happened so quick Max never saw that it was them. Nor was there any footage. So the Colonizers go unpunished due to a lack of evidence.

Whispering “don’t give this corrupt organisation any excuse to rule a DQ. Do your talking in the ring”. Paragon nods and then gestures with his arm to Pegasus ‘after you’. Pegasus heads off.
