Today the Raiders unveiled a video linked below showing the design of the stadium they want to build in Las Vegas west of I-15 across from Mandalay Bay. The public has to pay $750 million through raising the hotel tax by 1% (under this plan the average visitor to Las Vegas would only pay an extra 96 cents per night for a hotel room) or the stadium will not be built. The hope is to have the state legislature approve the plan before the NFL owners meet again in January. No local organized protests have been formed over the proposed 1% hotel tax increase (and why would there be?- it is the tourists paying for it.)
other recent developments:
- the Raiders got a trademark for the name Las Vegas Raiders
- the Raiders are scouting for training camp sites because they want to make connections to all of Nevada in order to turn The Silver State into The Silver and Black state.
and now for the video of the design of the stadium the Raiders want to build here:

Oh yeah! That is great. Love the choice of music there. I like the location, the giant screen on the side of the building and the giant flam thrower in the arena. The Las Vegas Raiders has to happen. Happy to pay an extra $1 a night when I visit for that.

Over at the LVRJ website, I found a clearer picture of what the outside of the stadium would look like:

It looks great...I just cannot believe that they would build an open air stadium there though.
Early season home games are going to be a bit warm.
Are they looking at the same technologies that they are planning for the stadiums in Qatar for the World Cup for keeping it cool?
I want this to happen as I think it would be great for the franchise...but an indoor stadium has to be the plan.
Edited...
So after going to the LVRJ sit and watching the videos a bit closer, the stadium looks to be a clear ceiling dome of some type. Domed is good...have to see how the clear ceiling will go to mitigate any amplifying greenhouse heating effects. And definitely interested to see more on the design and tech inside.

As a longtime Oakland Raiders fan I am still bitter over them leaving Oakland for L.A. all those years ago. I was hoping that a return to Oakland would be permanent but you can't blame the team for looking to get out based on what is going on regarding getting a new stadium built in the bay area. The proposed stadium in Las Vegas looks amazing and I will support the team in this move should it happen. With any luck maybe they will return to the glory days on the field as well. Vegas, we know that you are a Seattle Seahawks fan but is there any way we can convince you to come over to the dark side if the Raiders end up in Sin City?

Vegas, we know that you are a Seattle Seahawks fan but is there any way we can convince you to come over to the dark side if the Raiders end up in Sin City? yes and no I think the Raiders would be a GREAT fit for Las Vegas, but I am primarily hoping for this move to happen because I want that stadium built as I think it would lead to Las Vegas getting a regular rotation of Super Bowls, Wrestlemanias, and other big events we currently don't get. In addition, with UNLV playing their games there on Saturday, my school's football team would probably become relevant once again. But I have lived here in Las Vegas for 17 years and if the Raiders move here and become the Las Vegas Raiders then I will be cheering for them because I would want the Las Vegas Raiders to do well (they would instantly become my 2nd favorite team, but the Seahawks will always be my favorite team.) Cruefan68, aceldemas, and DK II - hopefully this move happens and if so we will cheer on the Raiders together my friends (except for when they are playing the Seahawks. )
