Gene Wilder -- star of classics like "Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory," "Blazing Saddles," "Young Frankenstein" and more -- has died. He was 83.

RIP Mr. Wilder, too many great roles to list but Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, Willy Wonka and Silver Streak are all classics. The world really lost a class act today.

Gene Wilder was actually one of the very first actors I became familiar with. At the school I attended from preschool through 2nd grade from the late 1970s through early 1980s, whenever it rained outside (and growing up in the Seattle-Tacoma area-it rained all the time,)instead of taking us to recess, the teachers showed us movies and the movies they always showed us repeatedly were the animated Hobbit, the animated Lords of the Rings, and Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. I probably saw that movie 15-20 times just by attending school. In the later 1980s, I also liked some of Gene Wilder's work with Richard Pryor. RIP.
