November 1987 is the date I use as my federation's start date. My birthday is in October and I wanted to buy myself a "wrestling game" so I chose COTG over Superstars, both of which were advertised in PWI. Boy did I make the right decision!
I still have the envelope my original game set was mailed to me in...it is in my reply to Bazzy's Tweet on this same topic. The envelope is postmarked 29 Oct 1987. With third class delivery it would likely have arrived at my house in CA on or about 13 Nov 1987. A funny thing, my mom would put the date on every piece of mail we received at the house, but I intercepted the envelope before she had a chance to put the date on it...if I had not done that, I would be able to easily pin-point the exact date. (The order for the second set IS dated by my mom, she got the mail that day!)
So, getting back on point...
Earlier this month I celebrated my 29th COTG Anniversary! Been a great time...and looking forward to another 29+ great more years!

I got mine in 1997.
The one thing I remember is the old days when we would share fed news via snail mail. The old Promoter listed addresses you could correspond with and both Bazzy and Pete Beck were a couple of the first people I started corresponding with.

July 1988. I bought the first set because I couldn't find any game with real wrestlers and was jonesing for something. I gave it a try and was a crackhead for a decade. I lost touch for a while and came back in 2004. I must have played a hundred matches that first couple days when I got my envelope. I bought the next set a week later and was hooked waiting for the next installment. Those were fun times. What I find funny now is, I only play GWF and GWFz. I haven't played low except for a few matches, I don't find the real wrestlers nearly as fun creatively.
