LWF NEWS (Post Rumble)
LWF 5 in February will be WRESTLE KINGDOM from the Tokyo Dome in Japan. Three huge matches have already been signed for the supershow.
Bobo Brazil (c) vs Diamond Dallas Page for the LWF World Title. Not only did DDP win the Royal Rumble, he eliminated the champ along the way. Now DDP gets a chance at man and the belt in Tokyo.
Kenny Omega (c) vs. Bruiser Brody for the LWF Intercontinental title. Kenny Omega was eliminated in record time by Bruiser Brody at the Royal Rumble. Now Omega is obsessed with Brody! The Cleaner is on a mission to defeat the mad man in Tokyo this February and avenge his embarrassment.
Hiroshi Tanahashi vs "Macho Man" Randy Savage. Two of the most colorful stars in wrestling battle in the Tokyo Dome. Tanahashi eliminated Savage at the Royal Rumble, leading to Macho Man savagely attacking Tanahashi backstage after the event. Its the HIGH LOW FLOW vs the FLYING ELBOW DROP!

Thoroughly enjoyed the 1st annual Royal Rumble... Especially seeing Brody eliminate Andre... That would have been quite the moment... Congrats to DDP on a huge triumph...
Wrestle Kingdom is shaping up nicely... Can't wait!

THESZ INSULTS JAPANESE WRESTLING CULTURE, SAYS "THEY'RE GREAT MARTIAL ARTISTS - BUT THEY'RE NOT WRESTLERS"
Tokyo is buzzing with the breaking news of Lou Thesz conducting an interview with the Tokyo Sun newspaper where he credits NJPW wrestlers as "fantastic athletes, great martial artists, but they're not wrestlers. I'm a wrestler. Harley Race, Bryan Danielson, they're wrestlers. These guys do a lot of fancy kicks, but they couldn't apply a proper wrestling hold if their life depended on it."
Predictably, Thesz has received major backlash for his comments, but offers no apology. If they want to put me in the ring with one if their kicking guys, you'll see what I mean. They have no chance vs. A world class wrestler like me."

Thesz is an arrogant sonofabitch but can back it up in the ring.
Nakamura will be more of a challenge than sweet Lou thinks.

WRESTLE KINGDOM 1
From the Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan
* The Destroyer destroys Gorgeous George (9 tokens), finishing him w an airplane spin.
* The Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff defeat "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan and Rhino when Sheik KOs Duggan with a foriegn object while bringing Duggan back into the ring with a vertical suplex.
Duggan needs help to the back after the match.
* Bryan Danielson scores a monster victory over Harley Race (4 tokens) w the CROSSFACE CHICKENWING.
After the match, Race shakes Danielson hand, then pulls him in for a vicious PILEDRIVER!
Race leaves Danielson lying in the ring.
* Buddy Rogers (5 tokens) defeats Kevin Steen (4 tokens) w FIGURE FOUR GRAPEVINE in an awesome 4 star match.
* Crazy ending! Snuka crushes Dibiase w SUPERFLY LEAP but Dibiase gets his foot on the ropes, then rolls out of the ring where he blasts Snuka with a gold bar, rolls him back into the ring and pins him 1-2-3!
After the match, the Million $ Man stuffs a $100 bill down Snuka's throat.
* Rob Van Dam pins AJ Styles w the FIVE STAR FROG SPLASH.
* The Hennigs shock the Road Warriors, PERFECT PLEX followed by the Axe from Curt pins Animal. Huge upset!
* The Tokyo Dome comes unglued as Shinsuke Nakamura knocks out Lou Thesz (5 tokens) in under two minutes with BOMA YE.

A superb display of resiliency by Brazil... But, not enough to prevent DDP from claiming the gold in an unbelievable main event...
Very cool that Nakamura was able to teach Thesz a lesson... Throwing kicks that connect like cinder blocks is a completely legitimate way to win a wrestling contest...
Nice comeback by Omega to remain the LWF I-C champ... And even though I was rooting for P1, I've always considered Styles vs RVD to be one of my favorite matchups in the Legends universe...
Excellent action from start to finish... Looks like the Tokyo Dome was treated to an awesome spectacle... Great work!

Six finishers from DDP to keep Bobo down!?!?! That's a hell of a lot of false finishes. Hope the former champ has a rematch clause that he can invoke, Bobo took enough of a beating to earn it!
Danielson over Race is a bit of a shocker, but, I love the heel response from Race with that piledriver to the American Dragon! |

It was a night of low (er) rolls that resulted in some good storylines I think. Hennigs, Nakamura, Omega and Sheik/Volkoff all winners as a result of lower pin rolls or snake eyes.
The Thesz vs Nakamura match was intense, like an MMA fight. Thesz started by backing Nakamura into the turnbuckle, and instead of a clean break, Nakamura kicked him in the head, stunning Thesz. BOMA YE a few times and it was over. Yes, a rematch in the states is coming. The card was so much fun I'm thinking of running a WRESTLE KINGDOM revenge card with a lot of rematches.
Bobo kicking out of 5 DIAMOND CUTTERS was equally intense. It felt like one wrong move could cost DDP the match, but he kept rolling 6. There will definitely be a re match there too.

THESZ SAYS NAKAMURA WON AN MMA FIGHT, NOT A WRESTLING MATCH.
Legendary Lou Thesz is dismissing his loss in Tokyo to Shinsuke Nakamura, claiming Nakamura was victorious over him "...in an MMA fight, not a wrestling match."
Thesz explains. "We lock up, I use a Greco Roman collar and elbow to push him back into the turnbuckle, and instead of breaking clean, he kicks me in the head. That's not wrestling. That's Karate or something. I thought I was in Tokyo to wrestle. Men wrestle. I don't know karate, or anyone who does karate. So congratulations on winning an unsanctioned MMA fight. No one in America cares. There's no L on my record that says I lost a wrestling match in Tokyo. Never happened."
Despite his claims, the L does of course remain on Thesz' record. Thesz will get a chance to redeem himself in a rematch in the States on LWF 6 when the WRESTLE KINGDOM revenge tour comes to MSG.
