New Era Wrestling -Card #13- Spring Power Surge P.P.V. (Philadelphia, PA) *Part One*
The show starts with a panoramic view of the excited crowd that is packed into the arena before the first match is introduced.
*Veda Scott vs. Delilah Doom
Veda and Delilah start this friendly exhibition match with a cautious handshake before the action starts. It's a spirited competition for the most part with both women getting in some good offense. After some time, and after Veda manages to kick out of a very close near fall... for a second time... a frustrated Veda rolls out of the ring to get a breather. She ends up slipping back into the ring to avoid a count out loss and she ends up, once again, in trouble. Doom scores with The Trapper Keeper and Scott once again exits the ring to get her bearings. Delilah is baited into going out after her and the two ladies get into a brawl that ends with Veda bouncing a steel chair off of Delilah's skull. The referee immediately calls for the bell, disqualifying Veda. Incensed, as she storms off in the direction of the locker rooms, Scott vows that her time on the bottom of the card is coming to an end.
Winner of the Match: Delilah Doom!
*The Gangsters of Love (Danny Doring, Amish Roadkill, & Mikey Whipwreck) vs. Jungle Boogie (Koko B. Ware, D'Lo Brown, & S.D. Jones)
When Jungle Boogie is introduced and they come out to the ring to the sounds of Kool & The Gang's "Jungle Boobie", Doring gets into a verbal sparring match with fans at ringside. The match itself is a wild and crazy affair that sees plenty of near falls and close escapes on all sides. In the end, it's the wrestlers going by the name of Jungle Boogie who get the win as Danny Doring falls victim to one Philly Shuffle and K.O. Punch too many from Jones.
Winners of the Match: Jungle Boogie!
*The Sandman vs. Bob Roop (w/ Kevin Sullivan)
Sandman and Roop get into a bloody, violent battle here in Philly tonight with Sandman looking to gain a measure of revenge on the dastardly Varsity Club members that put him on the shelf some time ago. After a few near falls... and a whole lot of blood spilled... Sandman emerges victorious after a HARDCORE DDT and a SINGAPORE CANE shot in close succession.
Winner of the Match: The Sandman!
*Larry "The Axe" Hennig vs. "Mister Perfect" Curt Hennig (w/ J.J. Dillon)
An epic battle of father versus son that goes mostly in the elder Hennig's favor... with a few moments here and there of Curt mounting a comeback... until Curt and J.J. Dillon use some dirty tactics to get the upper hand. The younger Hennig hits his version of The Axe to set up his father for a Hennig-plex that ends things for good. After the match ends, Tyler Black and Jon Moxley of The Shield rush into the ring and proceed to put a beating on Larry. Curt soon joins in on the activities and the fans go crazy. Harley Race runs in with a steel chair to clear the ring but the damage has been done.
Winner of the Match: Curt Hennig!
*"Bullet" Bob Armstrong (w/ Brad Armstrong) vs. King Kong Bundy (w/ Jimmy Hart)
The older Armstrong puts up a valiant effort and nearly gets the big man off of his feet on a few occasions, but in the end, a pair of ATLANTIC CITY AVALANCHEs prove too much for Armstrong to come back from.
Winner of the Match: King Kong Bundy!
*Intermission*

New Era Wrestling -Card #13- *Part Two*
*-No DQ Match- "The Phenomenal" A.J. Styles vs. "Macho Man" Randy Savage (Television Champion; w/ Sherri Martel)
Savage and Styles collide tonight with the force of a pair of runaway trains smashing headlong into each other. Styles very nearly gets the win in the opening minutes of the match but the champion is saved at the last second by "Sensational" Sherri. Things continue with a good amount of brawling out on the floor and both men use all the weapons available to them. Savage mounts a late match comeback and nearly gets the win but Styles shocks the world by kicking out just in time to keep the match going. With time starting to run out, the challenger gets the upper hand again and puts the bloody Randy Savage through the mat with a STYLES CLASH and the match ends. Styles is victorious and the crowd is going crazy.
Winner of the Match and NEW N.E.W. Television Champion: A.J. Styles!
*Cheerleader Melissa (w/ Trish Stratus) vs. Madison Rayne (Women's Champion; w/ Kelly Klein)
The ladies put on a wrestling clinic for the fans tonight but in the end, despite Trish trying to counter the outside interference from the always-dangerous Kelly Klein, the champion puts Melissa away with a RAYNE CHECK!
Winner of the Match and STILL N.E.W. Women's Champion: Madison Rayne!
*"Wrestling's Worst Nightmare" Kevin Steen vs. "Ravishing" Rick Rude (North American Champion; w/ Percy Pringle III)
Steen brings his 'A Game' in his effort to regain the North American title from Rude, but, in the end, he falls short as the champion gets the upper hand after the third brawl on the outside in the course of the match. It took two RUDE AWAKENINGs for Rude to put Steen away for good, however.
Winner of the Match and STILL N.E.W. North American Champion: Rick Rude!
*The Varsity Club ("Dr. Death" Steve Williams & Kevin Sullivan) vs. The Road Warriors (Hawk & Animal -N.E.W. Tag Team Champions; w/ Paul Ellering) Williams and Sullivan give Hawk and Animal a stiff, very real challenge tonight but after a long, grueling match that sees all four men get out of bad situations, the Road Warriors take control and try to decapitate Sullivan with a DOOMSDAY DEVICE. There's very nearly a pinfall victory but Doctor Death makes the save. Williams can't save Sullivan from a big POWER SLAM from Animal that ends the match for good.
Winners of the Match and STILL N.E.W. Tag Team Champions: The Road Warriors!
*Harley Race vs. "Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase (World Heavyweight Champion; w/ J.J. Dillon)
Race punishes DiBiase for the majority of the match, but the champion does get in his licks here and there. The match goes out of the ring a few times and Race seems to clearly dominate all the outside altercations. A late match PILEDRIVER nearly puts DiBiase away, and it would have ended the match if it weren't for the timely interference from J.J. Dillon. Race resumes his onslaught on the champion for a few more minutes before a desperate Ted DiBiase rolls out of the ring, grabs his belt and flies at full speed for the locker room area, more than happy to take the count out loss. Race is livid but there's nothing that Senior Official Bud Gordon can do to change things.
Winner of the Match: Harley Race!
At a Glance:
Delilah Doom beats Veda Scott by DQ Jungle Boogie beats Gangsters of Love when S.D. Jones pins Danny Doring The Sandman beats Bob Roop "Mr. Perfect" Curt Hennig beats Larry Hennig King Kong Bundy beats Bob Armstrong AJ Styles beats Randy Savage to regain the TV Title Madison Rayne beats Cheerleader Melissa to retain the Women's title Rick Rude beats Kevin Steen to retain the North American title The Road Warriors beat the Varsity Club to retain the Tag titles Harley Race beats Ted DiBiase by count out

Spring Power Surge was a stellar event and like Pariah I am stoked to see AJ Styles regain the TV title, though I am also a big fan of the "Macho Man". I enjoyed reading through the results and the At a Glance rundown was great to see as well. Looking forward to more NEW action.

New Era Wrestling -Card #14- (Baltimore, MD)
After an opening shot of the arena, we go inside to join one Veda Scott pacing back and forth until she notices the camera.
Scott: "Oh. It's you. Great. Because I have something to say. You know, I've been here working my butt off in New Era Wrestling for a little while now and the only ladies that get mentioned over and over and over again are Trish, Melissa, Kelly Klein and... of course... our champion Madison Rayne. Well, you know what? I'm sick of it. I am sick to death of wasting away on the bottom of the card. I've been told that I'm just as pretty, just as talented, and maybe even smarter than all four of them! My mom is right! I am just as pretty. I am just as talented. And I damn sure am smarter than all four of them. Combined. So... sorry Delilah. I'm sorry that it was you who had to feel my new attitude first. I am not sorry that I have that new attitude, though. Now, being a genius like I am, I realized that I'm going to need a little help to get past all these "big stars" so, guess what? I went and got myself a manager. That's right. From now on... from here on out... Veda Scott is a member of the Pringle Dynasty! Suck on that, jerks."
Veda is joined by a smiling Percy Pringle III.
Pringle: "Veda, my dear, you made the right decision. Now, let's go somewhere and talk about your new strategy, shall we?"
From there we go to ringside so we can have our first match:
*The Fantastics (Tommy Rogers & Bobby Fulton) vs. The Midnight Express (Bobby Eaton & Dennis Condrey w/ Jim Cornette) ends in a Double Disqualification.
It's quite a back-and-forth affair for the most part that actually sees the Midnighters dominate for a majority of the match. The tide turns in favor of Rogers and Fulton after an altercation on the outside of the ring that sees Fulton fight his way past Bobby Eaton by the announcing team's table. Eaton ends up on the receiving end of an old fashioned beating at the hands of Rogers and Fulton who display excellent teamwork and the art of quick tags. They even keep Eaton from getting to his own corner in his desperate attempts to get Condrey back into the match. Twice. The Fantastics hit the PRESS SLAM & SPLASH combo move and it looks like the match is over until Dennis Condrey jumps into the ring to break up the pinfall. Things get crazy with all four men in the ring brawling. The referee is unable to restore order to the proceedings and calls for the bell... disqualifying both teams.
Once the swarm of officials gets the Fantastics and the Midnight Express pulled apart and back to the locker rooms we're ready to continue... until Bobby "The Brain" Heenan comes out to the ring and interrupts Miss Cindy Shepherd's introductions. He says that after she announces the ham and egger that'll be wrestling in this match, he feels a need to inform everyone that he'll be at ringside in the corner of the newest member of the Heenan Family... The Masked Superstar!
*The Masked Superstar (w/ Bobby Heenan) beats George South.
South puts up a good fight for a bit before the masked man gets in control and starts to pick him apart. Amazingly enough, South manages to get to the ropes to get a COBRA HOLD broken up. Heenan and the Superstar exchange a glance and the match continues with the newest member of the Heenan Family hits the SPINNING NECKBREAKER and ends the match once and for all. After the match, Bobby the Brain joins his man in the ring and they bask in the chorus of boos and epithets showered upon them by the fans.
The ring is finally cleared and we, once again, are treated to Miss Cindy's introduction for the next match...
*"Big Red" April Hunter beats Rockin' Robin.
Robin puts up a valiant effort but in the end, she can't stand up to the power of April Hunter. For all her power and bluster, though, it takes Hunter two applications of THE HEAD HUNTER to keep Robin down for good. April gets on the ring announcer's mic before leaving the ring and reminds everyone in attendance that she held the women's title during N.E.W.'s first incarnation for nearly a year... a feat that no other champion... man or woman... has been able to come close to. She vows that she's going to get her hands on the gold and this time will surpass her own record.
Next, we go to the backstage interview stage where Amy Lee is waiting with tonight's guests... King Kong Bundy and his manager "The Mouth of the South" Jimmy Hart.
Lee: "Welcome, gentlemen. And allow me to congratulate you on your win at Spring Power Surge, Mister Bundy-"
Hart: "You sure can congratulate the man, little lady. But not just on how he squashed that goof Bob Armstrong, either! Oh, no! You see darlin'... tonight we're cashing in our chips and making a run at the North American title! Hahaha! That's right, daddy! King Kong Bundy is going to get his hands on that Rick Rude... who neither of us thinks is all that ravishing, do we, sweetheart? Nope. You're looking at the next champion here tonight. King Kong Bundy: North American champion. Has a great ring to it, doesn't it, sweetheart?"
Lee: "Um... sure. I guess. Rude is sure to put up a fight, though. I mean, he's the champion for a reason-"
Bundy: "You know what Amy Lee? I'm going to let your lack of confidence slide. This time. Tonight, in Baltimore, Maryland... King Kong Bundy walks out of here with some gold."
Hart: "We've already heard from the fine folks in Atlantic City, Amy Lee. And all the big money is on my man Bundy here. If you were anywhere near as smart as you are pretty you'd take the time between now and our main event and put in a call to your favorite bookie! Ha ha ha! Let's go, big man!"
After Hart and Bundy leave the interview stage it's time to go back to the ring.
*The Sandman beats Leaping Lanny Poffo.
This is pretty much a one-sided match. Poffo barely got in any offense at all before falling victim to a HARDCORE DDT.
After the referee is done checking on Poffo and getting him safely to the back, we're ready for our next match.
*The Empire of the Rising Sun (Fuji & Saito) beat The Backseat Boyz (Johnny Kashmere & Trent Acid).
Fuji and Saito obviously didn't go into this one with a high opinion of their opponents. Their overconfidence nearly costs them the match, however, when they let Kashmere and Acid get the upper hand toward the end of the match. We even get to see Fuji nearly brought low by the T-GIMMICK. After that close call, Fuji and Saito woke up to the danger of this new team in New Era Wrestling and got the momentum back on their side after Fuji rolls out of the ring and gets the upper hand on Kashmere after a crazy little brawl by the guard rails. After rolling Kashmere back into the ring, Saito is tagged in to put the finish on the match. Acid dives into the ring to save his partner from a SCORPION LEGLOCK but is helpless to stop the Japanese legend when he plants Kashmere through the mat with a SAITO SUPLEX, however.
Once the ring clears, we can prepare for tonight's main event...
*"Ravishing" Rick Rude (North American Champion; w/ Percy Pringle III) beats King Kong Bundy (w/ Jimmy Hart) via DQ.
The champion survives an early onslaught by the challenger and even kicks out of an ATLANTIC CITY AVALANCHE after the challenger foolishly insists on a five count. On his manager's urging, the champion rolls out of the ring to try to get his breath back and put some distance between himself and the big man. Bundy follows him outside... against Jimmy Hart's instructions... and ends up getting beaned in his big, bald head by a flying steel chair courtesy of Rick Rude! Bundy is dazed and the champion shows off his strength by rolling the dazed big man back into the ring so that he can put an end to the match with a well-applied RUDE AWAKENING! Jimmy Hart does his best to save his man by climbing onto the apron and distracting both Senior Official Bud Gordon and Rick Rude as well. Bundy uses the time this buys him to regain his composure and gets his hands on Hart's megaphone. Rude gets blindsided by the big man, now armed with the megaphone, and goes down hard. This doesn't escape Gordon's notice, however, and he immediately calls for the bell. The match is awarded to the champion despite threats and intimidation tactics by Bundy and Hart.
The show ends with King Kong Bundy and Jimmy Hart throwing a temper tantrum in the middle of the ring as the champion makes his way back to the locker rooms, an arm around Percy Pringle for support and the other arm holding his aching head. Pringle, of course, is carrying the North American title belt.
*The End*

More good action from NEW with a big main event. Rick Rude was fortunate to get that DQ win over King Kong Bundy to retain the North American title. I also thoroughly enjoyed The Fantastics DDQ with the Midnight Express. I like both the Masked Superstar with Bobby Heenan and Veda Scott with Percy Pringle III. However, I have some advice for PPIII and that is to keep Rude away from Veda. That is all

New Era Wrestling -Card #15- (Richmond, VA)
The show opens with a backstage shot that comes to rest on Kevin Steen, seen pacing back and forth by a door marked "Office".
Steen looks to the camera and speaks:
Steen: "So, here we are. Spring Power Surge is in the rearview and... I am not, once again, the North American champion of New Era Wrestling. It's funny, and you might not believe me, but I am glad that I lost my rematch with Rick Rude. And, no, it's not that I feared wrestling King Kong Bundy. I've proven time and again that I fear no man. No. See, I'm glad that I'm no longer the North American champion... as this frees me up to go after a bigger prize. The biggest prize. DiBiase! Your days as World Heavyweight champion are coming to an end, my friend. You may have gotten past Harley Race, sir, but... You. Won't. Escape. Me."
The camera fades out and we are next taken to the ringside area for our first match:
*Brent Albright beat "Pretty Boy" Larry Sharpe
The wily veteran Sharpe looked good for the first bit of the match but when push came to shove, it was proven that Albright was just bigger, stronger, faster... and maybe just a little bit meaner. Albright displayed what might be considered a killer instinct by really punishing Sharpe with a few applications of his dreaded, and painful, half nelson suplex. Brent only needed to hit Sharpe with the CROWBAR once for the match to end after dishing out all the punishment that he had done earlier in the match. After the match, as Albright was getting his hand raised, it became clear that J.J. Dillon, manager of The Gentlemen's Club, was loitering by the Gorilla Position. He was obviously taking an interest in the match. As for his motives? No one can say.
After the officials tend to the fallen Sharpe and get the ring cleared, we're ready to move on to our next match.
*The Sheepherders (Butch Miller & Luke Williams; w/ Captain Lou Albano) beat The Hot Mess Express ("Playboy" Buddy Rose & Buff Bagwell)
The Kiwis are in rare form tonight and go through Rose and Bagwell like a buzzsaw. Despite a very brief comeback around the mid point of the match, Rose and Bagwell are simply outclassed by the wild, brawling style of the Sheepherders. In the end, it's a BATTERING RAM that puts Rose away for good, despite the best efforts of his partner.
After the match, Bagwell does his best to console his partner as the officials clear the ring in preparation for our next match.
*Bruiser Brody beats Mister X
The match is over before anyone who might have been trying to scout out the newcomer can really get any real idea as to what Brody is made of. THe match might not have even taken an entire minute before it was over. In the aftermath of the one-sided match, N.E.W. officials have to check on X to make sure that he's still breathing.
The camera then goes to the backstage interview area where Miss Amy Lee is waiting. She's been joined by the victor of our last match... Bruiser Brody.
Lee: "Congratulations on the win, Mister Brody. And may I also say 'Welcome to New Era Wrestling'!"
Brody: "Thank you, Amy Lee. I want everyone who just watched what I did out there to take notice. While I am in New Era Wrestling... I will do what I just did to anyone... any man... who has the intestinal fortitude to get into the ring with me. This isn't false confidence or braggadocio, Miss Lee. I will beat... I will crush... I will destroy... any man I feel like destroying. THere isn't a title here in N.E.W. that's safe from me. If I want it... I will take it. That's a promise! Huss! Huss!"
With the intermission over, we can return to the ringside area for the next match:
*The James Gang (B.G. James & Kip James) beat PG-13 (Wolfie D & J.C. Ice w/ Jimmy Hart) by DQ.
The debut of The James Gang isn't anywhere near the one-sided affair that Bruiser Brody's debut was. In fact, the Boys From The Hood very nearly spoiled the party with a couple close calls. B.G. managed to escape from a pair of pin attempts before he and Kip turn things around late in the match. The end of the match comes after Wolfie rolls out of the ring to escape the resurgent James Gang, only to get carried away during the resulting brawl, resorting to the use of a steel chair as a weapon. Jimmy Hart tries to plead his case with the referee, but it doesn't work and B.G. and Kip end up getting their hands raised in victory.
Once the situation is defused we can return to the ring for the first of tonights two title matches...
*Madison Rayne (N.E.W. Women's Champion w/ Kelly Klein) beats Malia Hosaka to retain the title.
Perhaps Madison has been getting overconfident of late because Malia Hosaka seems to have her number for the majority of the match. With things really going against her for most of the match, Rayne looks for solace on the outside of the ring multiple times to no avail. On a roll, Hosaka herself must have gotten a bit on the overconfident side herself as the champion stuns her (and the audience) with a counter ROLL UP WITH TIGHTS after a series of karate kicks. Madison doesn't stick around to celebrate her win for very long, as she and "The Gatekeeper" Kelly Klein beat a hasty retreat before Malia can make her case to the referee.
After the ref gets Malia calmed down and the ring gets cleared, it is time for our main event of the night...
*A.J. Styles (N.E.W. Television Champion) beats Big Superstar to retain the title.
In a classic battle of speed versus strength, the champion dominates the bulk of the match despite Big Superstar 'hulking up' at one point. His resurgence is short-lived, however, and Styles proves that he is just that damn good. After the match, Big Superstar offers a hand to the man who beat him so handily and the champion accepts the gesture, much to the delight of the fans. After the match, we become aware of "Mister Perfect" Curt Hennig and his manager J.J. Dillon standing by the entrance to the locker room area. Hennig is seen giving Styles a bit of long, slow clapping of his hands. Styles, for his part, throws down the belt and gestures for Hennig to join him in the ring. His offer is declined as we end the show.
*The End*
