I picked up the new Fire Pro when it came out of Early access on the 18th, unfortunately I haven't had a lot of time with the game. I wasted so many hours of my life on Returns when we got it here in the states back in 07 or so. World looks so cool. I need to set aside some time to really dive into it. I can already imagine the many, many hours I'll lose to the game once I really get into it. Man I know the feeling of dumping a ton of hours into a Fire Pro game. By Steam's count, I've dropped 153 hours into World since it launched in July. Would have had a lot more but work/depression/other duties kept me away from it but I've been making up for lost time recently. If you liked Returns, this is pretty much a massive improvement over that game in every possible way. This game was worth the 12 (or 10 if you're going by the localized version) year wait. This is the best wrestling game ever. I've only put in around 6 hours so far. Most of it was spent re-familiarizing myself with the controls and the timing grapple system. I also simmed a few matches. Genichiro Tenryu & Kenta Kobashi vs. Terry & Dory Funk Jr. was a memorable sim actually. The game is excellent and I absolute agree that the Fire Pro series are the best wrestling video games bar none. When I do get a chance, I'll most likely run a virtual fed.

If I had a system to play this game, I'd be loving it. I played the Gameboy Advance version and I converted my first PS2 to play the Japanese version, but once the US version came out I had to get another PS2...

Spike recently confirmed the 8/28 release date and also mentioned that all first-run copies of the game come with the same New Japan Almanac/stat book that the Japanese first-run editions come with. Also Japan's getting an exclusive Premium Edition that's swank as all hell and I'm glad I preordered it.

New Japan uploaded the Fire Pro trailer they'd been showing exclusively to the live audiences during BOSJ featuring Tanahashi as...a young lion?! There's also confirmation of classic attires since a 2008-ish Tanahashi attire is shown just after the clip of him taking down Giant Bernard with a Sling Blade. You get to see Ryusuke Taguchi, Tetsuya Naito and Kota Ibushi's sprites in the trailer as well and Ibushi in particular looks fantastic. They really went above and beyond for the New Japan stuff.

The final packaging design was shown to the game's director this morning. He posted a picture that also confirms that the New Japan spot on the regular game's cover is...a sticker. Still no official cover for the international version of the game though at this point I'm expecting it to be the same as the Japanese cover, only in English.

Director posted a picture of the packaging sample for the Premium Edition, which is now sold out on Play-Asia and is only gonna become more difficult to find for a reasonable price.

The PC version is pretty much the best wrestling game since at least King of Colosseum II and that's without all the cool mods and stuff (with the cool mods it's easily the best wrestling game ever). The PS4 version, provided nothing catastrophic happened in development, should be just as good even without mods.
