I want to make my own cards with custom art work. I have photoshop or I can use things like Gimp. I just don't know how to make the card format. I want wrestler and manager cards. I had downloaded the card maker, but I can't export and it doesn't let you make Manager cards. I have seen amazing cards on this forum and know that people are skilled making them, so I was hoping someone could walk me through it. I need a detailed process. I hope i'm not asking too much. I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Hard to "teach" you how to make cards. It sort of depends on what software you are familiar with. I've never tried Photo Shop/Paint to make cards. I would think it would be sort of tedious and less forgiving if mistakes are made?
I use Coral Draw as my choice, it's easy for me as I'm familiar with it and have a ton of freedom to do whatever look I want. I can duplicate just about anything you see currently with it.
How many are you looking at doing?

I want to make like 20 or so to start off. That's why I wanted to use the Card creator, but as I said before, I can't get the export option to work.

I don't believe that Ryan Solberg's got that part of his program coded yet. The only thing I don't like about it is that you can't re-size your custom logos because I've always found them to overlap the text on the bottom of the card.

I think if you got any kind of publishing software, you'd be better off in the long run. Whether it's Adobe Acrobat/photo shop, Microsoft Word/Works, Coral Draw. Whatever, you can do anything you want for as long as you want! Just learn what you can through tutorials that are online, or classes if you're not familiar with software programs. Hard to teach by just messaging. Visuals are key.

Justin is definitely right. It's really hard to explain by message. It took me several years before I created a card template that I was comfortable with. A lot of trial and error in pursuing your quest for that perfect template. But I do wish you the very best with your mission in this. It can be very rewarding when you finally hit paydirt with your projects. I'll definitely be pulling for you on this. Many great players have wonderful designs of their own. And I'm looking forward to seeing what you have in store for us once you have reached that goal.

And we can help you create stuff if you need it, to get started anyways. I mean, it could take you some time to figure out the right software you want to do it and learn. Hoping you have someone near you that has the ability to show and teach you about the software if you're unfamiliar with them or have video chat or Skype where someone could show you things that way? It's a learning curve, but once you get there, it's like riding a bike. You'll never fully lose it!

Thanks for all the replies guys. I'm hoping I'll be able to get some cool stuff done. I'm actually getting started with learning photoshop, so hopefully soon I'll have some stuff going. ^_^

Ah the old templates. I decided to make my own with a more modern look. I have used Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe In-design is good, Quark Express and yes even Coral draw. I still prefer Photoshop but for layout of text the way to go would be Adobe In-design.
The hardest part is getting your card backs to work with your printer. I have used over a dozen printers over the years. I started making my first cards back in 1999. My suggestion is to layout the text for the actual card as a separate file. Then once you have the card formatted flatten the image and then add it to an 8.5 x 11 new page and space them out for margins. This way you can print out four cards per page front and back. I know laying out the card backs to match with the front is tricky but you can do it.

Make sure u follow the card creation guide as far as rules go. I made a ton of guys and most of them r poop cuz I didn't. Now that I know the rules, I'll (usually) spot the mistakes and I can't use the card anymore. Do overs aren't fun when U have a lot of them!
