Another BOLA is now over and tonight marked the 20th straight BOLA show I got to attend going back to my first BOLA in 2009 (the year Kenny Omega won BOLA.)
First, thanks to Toasterboy for driving me to Target today to get something I needed (long story) and then driving me and Cman to lunch for BBQ. Good to see Toasterboy again.
Also, thanks to Cman for driving me around yesterday (as mentioned earlier, I lost my reserved rental car due to a payment disagreement and did not have time on Friday to find an alternative rental.) Good to see Cman again and I am glad he was able to attend BOLA with me today.
Regarding the game, I did not get any signings tonight as most of the wrestlers who were out and available to talk to were guys already in the game, guys who have signed to the game but do not have a card released yet, or guys who I already previously signed this weekend. So the total number of signings for this weekend remained at 5.
My personal favorite match of the night was Keith Lee vs Donovan Dijak. One of the best recent big man matches I have seen. I am not sure what Meltzer (who was sitting in the front row) scored the match but I think it was easily worth at least 4 1/2 stars IMO. Probably really 5 stars though, it was awesome and exceeded even PWG standards for awesome.
Tonight's results:
Ricochet defeated Dezmond Xavier in a Quarter-Finals match
Travis Banks defeated Marty Scurll in a Quarter-Finals match
Keith Lee defeated Donovan Dijak in a Quarter-Finals match
Fenix defeated Zack Sabre Jr.in a Quarter-Finals match
Jeff Cobb defeated Sammy Guevara in a Quarter-Finals match
Matt Riddle defeated PENTA EL OM in a Quarter-Finals match
great match
Ricochet defeated Travis Banks in a Semi-Finals match
Keith Lee defeated Fenix in a Semi-Finals match
Jeff Cobb defeated his tag team partner Matt Riddle in a Semi-Finals match
PWG World Champion Chuck Taylor, Joey Janela, Mark Haskins, Flash Morgan Webster, and Flamita defeated Trevor Lee, Sami Callihan, Brian Cage, WALTER, and Jonah Rock. Before the match started Trevor Lee said Jeff Jarrett told him if he and his tag team partners won this match then the rest of his tag team partners would receive Impact contracts.
In the finals, Keith Lee pinned Cobb and then got immediately pinned by Ricochet. Ricochet became the first-ever 2 time BOLA winner and now gets to challenge his longtime friend Chuck Taylor for the PWG World Championship. I admit I was surprised by the winner, but so was everyone else too that I had talked to before the show based on the predictions I heard.
If the Ricochet vs Chuck Taylor match for the PWG World Championship is the next PWG show it looks like I will have to miss it. My friend who works for PWG privately told me the date of the next show and if so then it is the same night and the only night so far that I have a ticket to see my Golden Knights.
I had an awesome weekend and it would not have been possible without me being extremely fortunate to have some incredible friends. Originally I did not have any tickets to BOLA this year after they immediately sold out but a friend of mine was able to help me with tickets to both Night 1 and to (the heavily coveted) Night 2. And another friend of mine who works for PWG helped me get in contact with PWG ownership and receive an offer for a ticket to Night 3 and then today he also saved me and Cman (and some of my other friends too) some great general admission seats by the bar for Night 3. And again thanks to my friends here Toasterboy and Cman for helping me get around this weekend when I otherwise would have been stranded in my hotel room in Reseda each day until the time PWG started down the block.
Already looking forward to BOLA 2018!
