Who do you think will get voted into the Baseball Hall of Fame next year?
Top newcomers to the ballot this year include Chipper Jones, Jim Thome, Omar Vizquel, and Andruw Jones.
I really hope Edgar Martinez makes it this year, he deserves it but I sort of doubt he will make it.
This is the complete list of players on the 2018 ballot:
Barry Bonds, Chris Carpenter, Roger Clemens, Johnny Damon, Vladimir Guerrero, Livan Hernandez, Trevor Hoffman, Orlando Hudson, Aubrey Huff, Jason Isringhausen, Andruw Jones, Chipper Jones, Jeff Kent, Carlos Lee, Brad Lidge, Edgar Martinez, Hideki Matsui, Fred McGriff, Kevin Millwood, Jamie Moyer, Mike Mussina, Manny Ramirez, Scott Rolen, Johan Santana, Curt Schilling, Gary Sheffield, Sammy Sosa, Jim Thome, Omar Vizquel, Billy Wagner, Larry Walker, Kerry Wood, Carlos Zambrano.

And the four expected made it and it's looking good for Edgar next year even if Mariano is a lock.

All four are well deserved entrants into the HOF. As a Mets fan I can say with certainty that Chipper Jones is a Hall of Famer. I had many a sleepless night after Chipper stole another one with a big hit. Vladimir Guerrero was such a unique hitter, loved watching him. Jim Thome and Trevor Hoffman are also no brainers. Edgar Martinez deserves to be in and I hope he gets in there next year.

I was disappointed but not surprised that Edgar did not quite make it this year. I agree he has a good shot next year (his 10th and final year on the ballot) as players with over 70% of the vote going into their final year tend to get elected.
Plus with yesterday's news, there are now 4 open ballot spots for Edgar possibly to get more votes next year. Plus, other than Mariano Rivera, none of the new players on the ballot next year IMO should get votes over Edgar. Mike Mussina trailed Edgar in the voting and I would place Mussina over both Roy Halladay (even with his 2 Cy Youngs) and Andy Pettitte who are the top two starting pitchers who will be making their ballot debuts next year.
