Wrestling from Marigold: The Main Event 06.09.2070 from Marigold Arena, Chicago, IL
- Non-Wrestling Segment - VL: Folks we have a great show for you tonight and a just announced, blockbuster main event! It’ll be a 6-man tag match with the team of Magnum T.A., Diamond Dallas Page, and Hacksaw Jim Duggan taking on Tully Blanchard International! The first two members will be revealed tonight after our glimpse on the last card. It’s sure to be a barnburner!
JB: No doubt, Vince. In fact, I’m not sure the ring will be able to hold the animosity between these two teams! You gotta wonder if there’s any professional jealousy on the part of Magnum, though, since DDP is the new #1 contender to Blanchard’s US title… That said, we’ll also get an announcement from Fred Kohler concerning the actions of Bruiser Brody last week! Speaking of…
FK: Jack, Vince, sorry to interrupt. I wanted to get this out as soon as I could, though. I’ve spoken with both Thesz and Savage and as much as the fans and myself want to see a rematch between these two… They’ve both asked for Brody. And being that Brody has made it clear he wants a match, I’m announcing, for the first time ever a Triangle Match at the Marigold! The winner will face Buddy Rogers at the Great American Bash at the International Amphitheatre! But that is not all! I believe titles are to be defended and that the Marigold deserves title matches on a regular basis. So, not only will we see the Midnight Express defend their titles against the Road Warriors in the main event of our next card, but beginning at the next card, we will start a tournament for the DuMont Network Television Championship! The TV title will be defended with a 20 minute time limit and it will be defended at least once a week! I’ll announce more details about the tournament soon.
JB: Wow! Fred, that is a string of bombshell announcements sure to change the face of the sport here at the Marigold!
FK: Well, you know, Jack, it’s important to me that these fans know just how much they’re appreciated and just how important it is to me that this promotion be recognized as not only the best, but the most innovative.
VL: No doubt we’re seeing that in action here week in and week out. Speaking of action, let’s get to the ring!
Billy Red Lyons and Red Bastien vs. Scott Casey and Les Thatcher This match ended in a draw (Time Limit Expired) at 20:00 Match Rating: 4.00 Match Notes: Knowing that the loser of this match takes a hike and the winner is made a part of the roster, these four men went all out!
Lyons and Bastien isolated Casey early and looked to be building to steamroll their opponents, but a timely tag to Thatcher changed the complexion of the match and we had a fight on our hands!
They battled back and forth with multiple near falls on both sides. Lyons and Thatcher, in particular, took a beating, but all four men were hurting and tired by the time the finishing stretch came in.
Bastien and Lyons had wrested control from Casey and were stretching him, but knowing that time was running out, Lyons exploded with offense and made the tag for rapid fire drop kicks! Thatcher was in big trouble and Bastien went for the cover, but Thatcher got the shoulder up! ATOMIC DROP!
Casey comes in to make the save, but here comes Lyons! We've got a pier sixer! The ref is trying to restore order... Will he call for the DQ... The bell rings! Order is barely restored.
The time limit has expired! What a fight!
Vince announces later that per Fred Kohler, these two teams will meet in a match with a 30 minute time limit at All Star Wrestling!
Curt Hennig vs. Masked Superstar Curt Hennig defeated Masked Superstar with a HENNIG PLEX at 5:01 Match Rating: 3.00 Match Notes: It looks like Heenan's coaching could be paying off. He was very vocal at ringside in Hennig's corner.
Superstar got the better of Hennig early with lots of strikes, especially fired up after a slap in the face. They had a couple of big strike exchanges, but Superstar always came out on top.
Hennig was able to get something going and peppered Superstar with big dropkicks, the Axe, and a couple of near falls.
The action spilled outside and Hennig took the fight to the hurting Masked Superstar. He drove him into the apron and then whipped him into the steel.
"Stay on him! You got him!" Hennan shouted. And he did.
Hennig rolled him in and hit the HENNIG PLEX to get an impressive win!
- Non-Wrestling Segment - VL: Curt, let me grab a word with you after that fantastic win.
BH: Wait just a minute, Vince. These plebians don’t deserve to hear from Curt Hennig! And that includes you. But since we’re feeling generous, we’ll give you just a bit of news…
CH: That’s right, Vince. You see, Bobby and I have been driving up and down the roads and sitting in the darkened corners of places like the Green Mill talking about the future. My future. And I’m making a guarantee right here and right now that I will be United States Champion! And once I hit that mark, there will be only one word to describe it…
Heenan and Hennig look at the camera and proclaim in unison: “Absolutely perfect!”
VL: Well, fans, it seems that this new attitude and aggression on display by Hennig is without a doubt due to the influence of Bobby Heenan… Perfect? Well, we’ll see, but that victory will go a long way to getting him that US title shot…
The Sheepherders vs. and Greg Valentine, Brutus Beefcake Brutus Beefcake defeated Luke Williams with a vertical suplex at 8:23 Match Rating: 3.50 Match Notes: Really good tag action here. Valentine started off strong against Butch, but both teams performed well and the Sheepherders brawling style looked to have them at a slight advantage.
Unfortunately, when they went for one of their finishers, the RUNNING KNEE SMASH, Valentine moved and they collided!
The Dream Team took advantage right away much to their manager, Jimmy Hart's delight.
Valentine hit a big suplex, tagged Brutus, he did the same, and Luke Williams couldn't get his shoulder up!
Big, important win for the Dream Team after some tough losses recently.
Magnum T.A,, Diamond Dallas Page, and Hacksaw Jim Duggan vs. Tully Blanchard, King Kong Bundy, and Rick Rude Tully Blanchard defeated Diamond Dallas Page with a top rope sledge at 6:57 Match Rating: 2.75 Match Notes: Hacksaw and Rude started off and were in for most of the match, battling back and forth. Duggan looked good until Bundy came in and beat him down.
Tully called for the tag and took over, but Duggan capitalized on a mistake from the US Champ and then DDP tagged himself in to take it to the man he'll challenge soon at the International Amphitheatre.
Tully was able to make a quick comeback and then grabbed DDP's hair and rammed him head first to the mat! He went up top and hit a top rope sledge and then rolled him up! It looked like hi grabbed Page's jeans and go the quick 1, 2, 3 out of no where!
Fans were hot and Magnum was in the ring in no time! All six men are going at it in the ring! Hacksaw is going for the tackle on Bundy, but hits Magnum instead sending him outside! Bundy then tosses Hacksaw out and follows him to do some damage. DDP is alone with Rude and Blanchard... DDP goes for the DIAMOND CUTTER on Blanchard, but he pushes him off into Rude, Rude sets up for the RUDE AWAKENING, but DDP reverses... DIAMOND CUTTER. Blanchard then high tails it as DDP comes for him.
VL: We're out of time folks! We'll see you soon enough on our next card from the Marigold and we'll have some big announcements coming from Fred Kohler on the matches we can expect to see there!
Overall Card Rating: 3.31

Wrestling from Marigold: Championship Wrestling 06.11.2070 from Marigold Arena, Chicago, IL
- DuMont Network Television Championship Tournament - Bob Armstrong vs. Koko Ware Bob Armstrong defeated Koko Ware with a karate chops at 8:17 Match Rating: 3.00 Match Notes: This match had a 15 minute time limit and both men cam out swinging trying to get it done early. They went back and forth, but Armstrong impressed with solid strikes and excellent wrestling.
Koko Ware mounted a couple of good comebacks, but Armstrong had an answer for everything eventually and had no problem brawling with Sweet Brown Sugar in order to take control and finish him off after dealing some serious damage on the outside and then chopping him down to the mat for the 1, 2, 3.
Armstrong moves on in the tournament while Koko Ware is sent packing... For now.
- DuMont Network Television Championship Tournament - Alexis Smirnoff vs. Jim Brunzell Jim Brunzell defeated Alexis Smirnoff with a Referee Decision at 9:17 Match Rating: 3.00 Match Notes: Another 15 minute time limit and another solid contest in the DuMont TV title tournament!
It was a classic babyface/heel dynamic and Brunzell had the fans, in particular the female fans fully on his side. He used some flashy moves like the flying head scissors.
Both men were trying to control the pace, Smirnoff slow and methodical, Brunzell fast-paced and high impact.
Smirnoff reached peak frustration after Brunzell kicked out of a HEART PUNCH! He then went bezerk and spiked him with a pile driver and another HEART PUNCH for the 1, 2, 3! However, he didn't stop the attack after the bell and he walloped Brunzell with a ring wrench!
Brunzell was busted open and blood streamed freely from a gash on his forehead!
Sizing up the mayhem, the referee made a controversial call... He reversed the decision and awarded the match to Jim Brunzell! The crowd was delighted, but Smirnoff was even more crazed and threatened the ref. Officials and wrestlers streamed out and Smirnoff backed off, but the damage was done.
Fred Kohler made the call to suspend Smirnoff for 6 weeks! It was announced the Brunzell was injured, but made a plea to compete for the TV title at All Star Wrestling against Bob Armstrong!
VL: Jack, that's not the craziest thing we've seen, but you have to think that Alexis Smirnoff will come seeking revenge when he returns.
JB: Yeah, Vince, and I wouldn't want to be Jim Brunzell OR that ref when he does make his return to the Marigold...
VL: But you know, it was the right call. You simply cannot attack your opponent like that or go after the referee. Fred Kohler made the right call and I think the ref did too.
JB: I agree to an extent... The fact is, though, Alexis Smirnoff won that match. Brunzell getting to move on is going to be a controversial call.
Bruiser Brody vs. Lou Thesz vs. Randy Savage Lou Thesz defeated Randy Savage with a released power bomb at 28:42 Match Rating: 4.25 Match Notes: Both Savage and Thesz have a bone to pick with Brody, but there's no love lost between the two of them.
This was a wild back and forth affair and all three men had a shot at times. They kept it in the ring for the most part, but when it did spill out of the ring, it got wild! Eventually both Thesz and Savage were bleeding and Brody was on the warpath.
Numerous pinfall attempts were broken up or survived, in fact a total of 10 between the three men.
Savage dropped the elbow on Thesz, but Brody broke it up!
Shortly after, Thesz mounted a huge comeback and tossed Brody outside and hit a huge power bomb on Savage to score the 1, 2, 3!
Thesz is going to face Buddy Rogers for the World Heavyweight Championship! Brody was hot afterwards and threw chairs into the ring as Thesz headed towards the back.
VL: What a scene! Lou Thesz will face Buddy Rogers! But Bruiser Brody did not drop the fall! How will he rebound? And what with the Macho Man do now that he's been pinned by Thesz?
JB: Vince, I'll tell you this, I don't think we've seen the last of either of those men and I wouldn't be surprised if they're in a ring here in Chicago sooner than later!
VL: No doubt, Jack, no doubt! And can you believe we still have a main event match for the tag team titles?!
The Road Warriors vs. The Midnight Express for the Tag Team Championship BobbyEaton defeated Animal with a DQ at 12:00 Match Rating: 2.50 Match Notes: These two teams have met in a pair of classics at the Marigold already, but this time the Tag Team titles are on the line!
We started off in conventional back and forth fashion, but the Road Warriors soon used the power advantage to take over and would punish both Eaton and Condrey.
However, Eaton took advantage of a misstep by Animal and nearly scored the win with the Alabama Jam.
The action spilled outside and a wild brawl broke out! Both managers did their best to make distractions for their teams and Condrey got away with a couple cheap shots, but Hawk and Animal went ballistic and grabbed chairs, laying out both of the champions!
The ref saw Animal hitting Eaton with a chair and called for the bell!
JB: Can you believe it? The Midnight Express will retain after that pier sixer!
VL: You gotta think they just gave away their title opportunity! The Rock N Roll Express will get a crack at Eaton and Condrey at All Star Wrestling.
JB: Yeah, but Vince, I don't think we've seen the last of this matchup. This thing has broken out into a downright blood feud!
VL: Well, fans, that's all from the Marigold, but join us at the International Amphitheatre for All Star Wrestling! You will see the tag champs defend, Tully Blanchard meets the challenge of DDP for the US Title! The first ever DuMont Network Television Champion will be crowned!
JB: And, in our main event, Lou Thesz will challenge Buddy Rogers for the World's Heavyweight Championship!
VL: You will NOT want to miss this one!

Nice to see the Express beating the Roadies even if by DQ.

Thanks, TTX. Honestly it couldn't have been a better finish. I wasn't ready to see the Midnights drop the belts and I didn't really want to see Hawk or Animal drop a fall in this one, so the DQ worked and now I get to have the Midnight Express vs Rock n Roll Express at my super card.

All Star Wrestling 06.17.2070 from International Amphitheater, Chicago, IL
- Triangle Match - Hacksaw Jim Duggan vs. Jimmy Snuka vs. Magnum T.A, Hacksaw Jim Duggan defeated Jimmy Snuka with a piledriver at 54:07 Match Rating: 4.00 Match Notes: What a war! The stipulation of this match stated that the winner would get a significant bump in the rankings, while the loser would be dropped from the roster! The odd man would get another opportunity, but certainly be on thin ice.
Magnum looked great early, but Hacksaw took him out and began battling Snuka. They pounded on one another with everything they had.
Magnum would come back into it and begin taking the fight to Snuka big time. Snuka was busted open after being posted out of the ring.
Magnum, smelling blood, went for broke, but Hacksaw pulled him out of the ring after a huge BELLY TO BELLY! The match should've been over!
Hacksaw was busted open in short order by multiple headbutts from Snuka!
The match see sawed back and forth and while it felt long, each man was fighting for his chance to move up in the rankings.
The finish finally came when Snuka threw Magnum out of the ring, but couldn't sustain an offense against Duggan! Tho he was responsible for one of the more gruesome sights in wrestling as he smashed his bloodied forehead into Hacksaw's bloodied forehead with multiple headbutts!
Duggan eventually made a comeback and scored with a big pile driver and put the bloody Snuka away!
Magnum just couldn't make the save in time. Big win for Duggan and Snuka is sent packing!
Scott Casey and Les Thatcher vs. Billy Red Lyons and Red Bastien Red Bastien defeated Les Thatcher with a Double Team at 17:03 Match Rating: 4.25 Match Notes: This was a super-exciting tag team matchup as both teams were fighting for a spot on the roster!
There was a lot of back and forth action and multiple pin fall attempts. The Flying Redheads may have had control more often, but it would be hard to argue that either team was dominant.
There was even some brawling on the outside and very early on Lyons and Bastien were able to establish continuity with quick tags and control with double team moves.
Some moments of drama included Casey locking on a sleeper only to follow it up with THE BULLDOG on Lyons! Bastien made the save, tho and it wasn't long before the Redheads were back on top!
Eventually, Bastien hit the ATOMIC DROP on Thatcher and went for the cover. Casey broke it up, but as the ref escorted him to the apron, Lyons hopped in and he and Bastien hit a double team Atomic Drop/Dropkick combination.
Bastien then made the cover and got the 1, 2, 3!
Exciting fast paced match with few lulls in the action and lots of great tag work. The Flying Redheads have drawn the eyes of the fans and the promoter with excellent matches thus far.
Thatcher and Casey may be hitting the road, but anything is possible and maybe we'll see them again at the Marigold someday.
Bob Armstrong vs. Jim Brunzell for the Television Championship Bob Armstrong defeated Jim Brunzell with a sleeper at 14:30 Match Rating: 3.75 Match Notes: Brunzell came into this match hurting after the attack by Alexis Smirnoff. Armstrong is the favorite, but the fans are behind Brunzell 100%.
This was an exciting fast-paced match as both men battled back and forth to earn the right to be called the very first DuMont Network Champion.
Unfortunately, it wouldn't go without controversy. The action spilled outside after some hot see saw action. Armstrong and Brunzell brawled and as Armstrong took a couple of liberties the ref warned him, but Armstrong pressed on, pushing the ref aside. The bell would ring and the ref called for a DQ!
The fans were hot as Brunzell regrouped in the ring and was ready to keep fighting! Fred Kohler made the call with little hesitation to continue the match and joined Lloyd and Brickhouse on commentary to explain that Brunzell wanted to continue, there cannot be champion on a DQ call.
The two fighters brawled briefly in the middle of the ring, but Armstrong was able to take the advantage by going with a rib punch to the injured area!
Armstrong seemed to know it was elementary and hit the GEORGIA JAWJACKER, but Brunzell kicked out! The fans went wild, but were silenced immediately as Armstrong applied the sleeper and won the match when Brunzell was unable to answer the ref's call.
"Bullet" Bob Armstrong is the first DuMont Network Champion!
The fans aren't happy and are booing Armstrong heavily as he's presented with the belt. Brunzell, on the other hand, draws their sympathy as he makes his way to the back, defeated.
Bob Armstrong won the Television Championship
- Street Fight - Bruiser Brody vs. Randy Savage Randy Savage defeated Bruiser Brody with a FLYING ELBOW DROP at 12:52 Match Rating: 3.75 Match Notes: This was a wild and crazy brawl that probably spent more time out of the ring than in it.
Both men went for big lariats at the beginning of the match and collided with such intensity that it was only a minor surprise that Savage was up first!
The action immediately spilled out and Brody took over. He punished the Macho Man in and out of the ring, but was shocked when two consecutive King Kong KNEE DROPS didn't get the job done.
Savage was busted open as they brawled around the ringside area. Brody was smashing him into the railing, the time keeper's table, chairs, and whatever else he could find.
Savage, however, ducked a clothesline and went to work with a rope straddle and a big lariat.
The action would spill out yet again and Brody soon wore the crimson mask as Savage gave receipts for earlier.
Savager hit a spectacular flying axe-handle from the top to out side the ring!
As they continued to brawl around the ringside area, Savage waffled Brody with multiple chair shots before rolling him in and hitting the FLYING ELBOW for the 1, 2, 3! What a hardcore battle!
Tully Blanchard vs. Diamond Dallas Page for the United States Championship Tully Blanchard defeated Diamond Dallas Page with a DQ at 3:33 Match Rating: 0.00 Match Notes: This one has been building for a while and there are a lot of people hoping that DDP can finally score one for the good guys...
They started off jockeying for position, but Tully would score big with a top rope sledge. He then tossed DDP out and played games with the ref trying to give JJ Dillon an opportunity to interfere, but DDP was having none of it!
Tully then came off the apron with another sledge and sent DDP throat first into the guardrail.
It looked like we might get a count out, but Tully would break the count only to be met by blows from DDP and then he slammed him into the timekeeper's table! The ref began to warn DDP and as he turned to talk to the ref, Tully pushed Page into the official!
The official thinks DDP has hit him! He calls for the bell and awards the match to Tully by DQ!
Tha fans are booing Blanchard and the call!
The Rock'n'Roll Express vs. The Midnight Express for the Tag Team Championship Ricky Morton defeated BobbyEaton with a DQ at 28:48 Match Rating: 4.75 Match Notes: This was an incredible tag team contest. Both teams were in top form and brought their A games. Unfortunately, the Midnight Express also brought Jim Cornette.
They see-sawed the whole way and both teams utilized the tag effectively on the offensive and defensive end.
Lots of near falls and saves. They kept things mostly in the ring, but the end of the match saw things break down. Bobby Eaton was busted open on the outside and when things finally got under control the Rock N Roll Express hit the DOUBLE DROPKICK on Eaton!
Cornette tossed Condrey the racket and he waffled Robert Gibson with it!
The ref called for the bell and awarded the match to Morton and Gibson... However, the title cannot change hands on a DQ! The fans are hot, Morton & Gibson are hot, and Fred Kohler is going to have a lot to weigh after the result here...
- 2/3 Falls - Lou Thesz vs. Buddy Rogers for the World's Heavyweight Championship Lou Thesz defeated Buddy Rogers with a THESZ PRESS at 21:06 Buddy Rogers defeated Lou Thesz with a FIGURE FOUR GRAPEVINE at 29:29 Buddy Rogers defeated Lou Thesz with a FIGURE FOUR GRAPEVINE at 33:36 Match Rating: 4.75 Match Notes: This bout was a near stone cold classic. Both men went back and forth and gave it everything they had. Each avoid pin fall and submission attempts, including Rogers kicking out after a GRECO ROMAN BACK DROP!
The first 20 minutes see sawed and were very hard fought. Thesz got busted open as they brawled outside, but was never in too bad a way in spite of it and came back big to score the first fall with the THESZ PRESS!
Rogers absorbed more punishment as Thesz went for the kill. He was oh so close to scoring the pivotal second fall, but Rogers, the sneaky devil, slammed the bloody Thesz into the ring post on the outside and clipped his knee! He slammed the leg into the post and then rolled him in.
FIGURE FOUR! Thesz is in excruciating pain! He has no choice but to tap out, blood streaming down his face. He's favoring the leg heavily as we head into the third and final fall.
Thesz tried to control the third fall, but things immediately spilled outside and they brawled with a fury! The ref threatened to throw the match out, but regained control. As Thesz was getting back in the ring, Rogers kicked the rope into the bad knee of Thesz!
FIGURE FOUR! Thesz is in horrible pain! Blood streaming down his face and staining the mat... He may be out... His shoulders are to the mat... 1, 2, 3! "Nature Boy" Buddy Rogers retains the title!
What a night here at All Star Wrestling!
Overall Card Rating: 3.61

Thanks for following on, TTX! The Savage/Brody match was one that as a "booker" I had a plan no matter who won. It was also one of those matches that you roll and realize that if you'd been watching it, it would've played out pretty realistically and neither opponent would've come out looking weak regardless of the victor. Happy to have Armstrong as my first TV champ. It's cool, because he works well as a heel or face for this run. The title will be defended often, so it'll be difficult to hang onto, but a one run could ensure a US title shot. Rogers faced a strong challenge, but his finisher is tough and it was enough to get the win against Thesz. Thinking Savage might get the next shot after his win over Brody.

The drama in this promotion is simply top notch... You have to admire Brunzell's tenacity, even if maybe it wasn't the wisest decision to challenge Bullet Bob for the TV title so soon after falling victim to that vicious assault by Smirnoff... Exciting stuff from start to finish!

Wrestling from Marigold: The Main Event 06.18 from Marigold Arena, Chicago, IL
- Intro - We have returned to the Marigold for more Main Event Wrestling action! It feels a bit like a new beginning and yet there’s plenty of notes after the extravaganza that was All Star Wrestling!
Buddy Rogers retained his World’s Championship in stunning fashion over Lou Thesz, Tully Blanchard still holds the US title, but it is not without its fair share of controversy, and the same can be said for the Midnight Express still wearing the tag team gold.
In other news, Randy Savage defeated the wildman, Bruiser Brody, in a grueling match. Word is he’ll be next in line for a shot at Buddy Roger’s title!
The DuMont Network Television champion is Bullet Bob Armstrong. There are plenty of wrestlers throughout the country that want a shot at the TV gold and Jim Brunzell perhaps wants it most of all after another match that was not without some strange happenings.
Meanwhile, we’ve got some debuting talent tonight as the road to our next All Star Wrestling event begins here!
Jimmy Valiant vs. Masked Superstar Jimmy Valiant defeated Masked Superstar with a roundhouse punches at 14:36 Match Rating: 3.50 Match Notes: This turned out to be a really good match. Valiant was on fire early and nearly put Superstar away after a pair of BOOGIE WOOGIE ELBOW DROPS, but he couldn't sustain the momentum.
Masked Superstar came back and scored some near falls of his own. They see-sawed and the action spilled outside at one point. Superstar risked DQ by smashing Valiant into a ringside table face first. The Boogie Woogie Man was bleeding and it looked like the end was near...
Somehow, Valiant came back and was able to work up a short burst and rocked Masked Superstar with roundhouse punches and then made the cover for the 1, 2, 3. Solid win for Valiant!
- Interview - BULLET BOB: I want to be very clear on something, I will defend this title every week as contracted, but Brunzell’s sour grapes don’t warrant a rematch. Fred Kohler and Jumpin Jimmy agreed to the restart and the only possible winner of that match walked out with the new gold… Me. So get in line, pal, and earn your shot.
(Jim Brunzell enters the interview booth carrying a contract!)
BRUNZELL: Hey, Armstrong! I got a piece of paper right here that says what you are afraid of! Fred Kohler has granted me a rematch at the very next Championship Wrestling and there ain’t nothing you can do about it!
(Armstrong is furious and says why wait and begins raining blows on Brunzell! Brunzell fights back, though and runs the TV champ off!)
Steve Regal vs. Johnny Mantell Steve Regal defeated Johnny Mantell with a FT. LAUDERDALE LEGLOCK at 2:04 Match Rating: 0.10 Match Notes: Not the type of evening Johnny Mantell wanted. Both debuting wrestlers know they've got a shot at paving the way to a TV title match, but it's Steve Regal who impresses in a big way with a squash submission win in just over two minutes!
Mr. Electricity, indeed.
- Interview - DILLON: Dallas Page… What you need to understand is that Tully Blanchard Enterprises is not threatened by you! You’re a cubic zirconia forgery And this here is the real deal.
BLANCHARD: That’s right, Page! And whenever you come at me, remember all bets are off, because this US Title isn’t leaving its rightful owner’s possession!
Curt Hennig vs. Jackie Fargo Curt Hennig defeated Jackie Fargo with a DQ at 6:19 Match Rating: 2.75 Match Notes: This was a good bout while it lasted. Fargo showed some fire, but Hennig has the it factor and used hi-impact moves to rock the Memphis star.
Bobby Heenan kept shouting encouragement to his man, but became the victim of a Fargo strut after Fargo put Hennig down with a jumping stomp.
Fargo had no trouble brawling with Hennig on the outside but it was one trip too many as the ref finally DQ'd Fargo for ramming Hennig into the announce table!
The fans and Fargo were hot as Heenan tended to his man and told the officials to get Fargo out of here!
Fargo challenged Heenan to put up his dukes, pally, but the Weasel wanted nothing to do with him as he and Hennig headed for the hills.
- Interview - SAVAGE: Oh yeah, dig it, dig it… Bruiser Brody, you’re one tough dude and that might be the understatement of the millennium, but as Savage as you are it isn’t your last name. I’m sure you’ll be carving your path of destruction to my door again one day, but for now I’m setting my sights on the highest of heights! Nature Boy Buddy Rogers, Oh Yeah! You got the prize, but I’m coming to take it. I will drop the elbow heard round the world and the second city will be second to none after a new champ is crowned right here in Chicago!
Miracle Violence Connection vs. The Vachons Steve Williams defeated Mad Dog Vachon with a lariat at 7:31 Match Rating: 3.75 Match Notes: Some great tag action from these two debuting teams. Mad Dog and Butcher has Dr Death reeling early, but a well-timed tag brought in Terry Gordy and Bam Bam went to work.
He his a big PILEDRIVER on Mad Dog for a near fall and tagged in Dr. Death as they hit a double team lariat combo that had Vachon on dream street.
Eventually Williams followed a Dr Bomb with another lariat to get the 1, 2, 3 as Gordy cut off the ring from Butcher.
Strong outing for the Miracle Violence Connection.
Diamond Dallas Page vs. Hacksaw Jim Duggan Diamond Dallas Page defeated Hacksaw Jim Duggan with a DIAMOND CUTTER at 10:50 Match Rating: 3.50 Match Notes: Page came up short in controversial fashion in his US Title shot at All Star Wrestling. He's said there's no sour grapes, just more of a desire to get back in the ring with Blanchard!
Hacksaw impressed with a strong win over Magnum TA and Jimmy Snuka in a fantastic 3-way.
These two established a furious back and forth pace early, before Hacksaw exploded with some tough offense to put DDP down and even scored a near-countout victory after a diving axe-handle from the apron.
He hit the FLYING SPEAR and Page shocked the crowd by getting the shoulder up. He came back in quick fashion after that and then hit a DIAMOND CUTTER to seal the deal! The fan-favorite continues to have momentum going after the US Title!
DDP: Tull Blanchard Enterprises! The Diamond Exchange has news for you! I'm gonna bankrupt you, bro! And that US Title is going to be residing around my waist sooner than you can say... BANG!
- Interview - CORNETTE: When the good lord invented tag team wrestling no one was prepared for the gift of the Midnight Express! Dennis Condrey and Bobby Eaton are still your tag team champions and you can take all your controversy and stick it where the sun don’t shine because like my mama always said only a loser whines when the game is done! And I don’t wanna hear anymore about the Road Warriors! Road Warriors this and Road Warriors that. They haven’t earned their shot.
