Worth noting that Marty Scurll, Flip Gordon, ACH, Chris Sabin, & IWGP Jr Heavyweight champ, Will Ospreay (obviously) are all in the tournament. Obviously they’re the only guys with game cards in it, but still pretty cool.
Based on the blocks, I’m thinking it comes down to Hiromu vs Ishimori in the finals. Hiromu gets the win. But Ishimori goes undefeated in his block, besting Ospreay to set up the challenge after his post-match beatdown at Dontaku. Hiromu falls to either KUSHIDA or Scurll, maybe both to keep things interesting, but still makes the finals and takes the tournament to challenge Will at Dominion.
Block A: Tiger Mask, Kanemaru, Yoh, ACH, Bushi, Flip, Ishimori, Ospreay
Block B: Hiromu, Scurll, Dragon Lee, Taguchi, El desperado, Sho, KUSHIDA, Sabin,

It's been years since I was really interested in seeing BOSJ and those blocks really don't have anything to make me consider throwing down the money for NJ World to watch.

I mean, you've got 4 of the most talented wrestlers in the world in KUSHIDA, Ospreay, Hiromu, and Scurll (in that order) along with Ishimori who is probably not far off. Dragon Lee is one of the most exciting Lucha talents in the world. Kanemaru is damn near a legend in the puro jr division with his work in NOAH and NJPW and Taguchi isn't far off. Sho & Yoh are primed for huge futures and have the talent and potential to back it up. El Desperado and Bushi are very good and ACH and Sabin won't disappoint. Plus it'll be exciting to see how Flip does in the environment and matched up with the talent in his block (he had a really good match with Ospreay at the ROH show in Chicago last October).
But, hey, you do you. I'm a fan of the product already and these tournaments have been pretty on point the past few years. Why come to just drop a negative comment?

Ospreay is not good and Scurll is one of the most cringeworthy workers on the planet. Ishimori hasn't been consistently good in years. Dragon Lee vs. Hiromu is the only interesting DL match in that block. Kanemaru has always sucked and there's nothing you're going to say to change my viewpoint on him. Sho and Yoh aren't bad but I don't find either of them interesting. Similarly, Despy and Bushi are good but I don't care about either of them at this point. I'm also not a fan of ACH or Flip so their inclusion doesn't do anything for me and I haven't cared about Sabin since 2010-2011 TNA with the MCMG/Beer Money feud. But hey thanks for breaking down everyone in the tournament like I haven't seen any of them before. Also I wasn't aware that you only had to be positive when it comes to discussing wrestling on here. If the blocks were appealing to me, I'd be excited. They're not, so I'm not. Sorry for offending you by not sharing the same opinions, I guess?

It's just not my day... I wasn't trying to break them down for you like you hadn't seen them before. I don't care if you don't share my opinions. Clearly we don't agree on these things. I was just trying to share some excitement for something I love and follow. I suppose there's a reason I don't talk wrestling on here. Which is a damn shame considering how long I've played this game and been a member of this community going back before these boards even existed. You don't want to have a discussion, you just want to state your opinions and have that be that. Well, you win. Enjoy your opinions. I should've never even posted anything.

You don't want to have a discussion, you just want to state your opinions and have that be that. Actually I'm completely fine with having a discussion. I'm even fine if people disagree with me, which happens pretty regularly when I talk about wrestling. What I'm not fine with is your post running down the whole tournament with the condescending as hell 'you do you' line that pretty clearly showed you weren't happy that someone had an opposing viewpoint. It'd stand to reason that if you wanted to have a discussion, the tone of that post would have been different. But hey, you do you brother. Enjoy BOSJ.

You know what, you're right. I shouldn't have said that. I actually did not mean to come off "condescending as hell". As you've seen, I was involved in another discussion and I allowed some of the feeling of being misunderstood or not heard carry over and I apologize for that. It was dismissive and I shouldn't have taken your comment to be equally dismissive or match it with such a crappy over-done line.
I would love to have a discussion. Especially about your opinions of Ospreay and Scurll. I happen to think they're both incredibly talented workers and I thought they had one of the best matches of the year together, in spite of the botch that could've ended horribly for Ospreay. They told a fantastic story, wrestled at incredible pace, without sacrificing the selling or build to the finish.
I also think the recent KUSHIDA/Ospreay match was another incredible piece of work that saw Ospreay sell amazingly well and continue to wrestle a mix of styles and not simply doing "flippy shit" (not that that's what you necessarily think of him, not trying to put words in your mouth or anything).
I think Scurll is a great talent who has a wonderful ground arsenal and an incredible grasp of character. He's great at doing lots of little things with his grappling too, in my opinion. Not Zack Sabre level, but he still knows how to do the little things to help tell a story and I love that. Plus his entrance gear and look make him feel like a star even beyond his in ring work.
There's definitely more, but I just wanted to throw that out there. If you're no longer interested, I understand, but I really am sorry for being shitty.

Scurll is interesting in that he can be amazing but at times he just wrestles down to his opponent. Should be fine in this tournament though.

His block is definitely the more stacked of the two. I don't see him winning, but I wouldn't be shocked if he did roll into the Block finals with a chance to do so. I just think Hiromu is the guy this year, but that Ishimori needs to look strong in his block after his debut at Dontaku. Being in separate blocks should make that possible.

The Fire Pro x New Japan announcements got me really excited for New Japan for the first time since the Dome so I wound up paying for NJ World and watching a decent chunk of BOSJ for the first time in forever. I watched literally nothing from the A Block, but did watch basically most of the B Block stuff. Basically if it didn't involve Scurll, I watched it. I have no idea how well the A Block did in terms of match quality (most of what I see on twitter seems to lean towards 'it wasn't very good') but the stuff I saw from the B block definitely delivered. SHO in particular impressed me because I'd never thought much of him in terms of having a lot of upside but he clearly brought the goods in the Hiromu, Dragon Lee, KUSHIDA and Sabin matches. Hell, Chris Sabin surprised me by having several matches I enjoyed in this tournament after like a decade of being really, really unimpressive whenever he was put in singles matches.
The final, which I had expected would be Hiromu/Ishimori from the start, was a great match but I don't like modern New Japan's obsession with every big match basically going 30 as a rule. Hopefully Hiromu can get something enjoyable out of Ospreay on Saturday. I'm not optimistic at all given how the last match I saw of theirs went but hey Osaka's where miracles happen sometimes.
