I'll probably go Friday afternoon. I hope they make a sequel with Boba Fett! I have to think Boba Fett gets a movie at one point. But I did see that Kenobi gets the next Star Wars Story movie in 2020.

Yeah Boba will get one for sure. I'd worry about Disney glutting the market but considering what they're managing to do with Super Hero movies maybe that won't be an issue.

I read that Disney didn't want to do a Boba Fett movie because they weren't sure about making a movie with a villain as the hero--even though we have Suicide Squad, Venom, and possibly Gotham City Sirens or Harley Quinn movies.

I think I'm suffering from nerd movie fatigue because I'm not very excited about seeing Solo in the theater. I'm starting to think it was easier when sf/super hero movies only came out every couple years. While I'm not on the same level as you, I've stopped going to "opening night" for the nerd movies that interest me since I've been disappointed with the bigger movies lately. I'm not sure if there's a correlation, but I walked out of Thursday night showings of Thor: Ragnarok, Last Jedi, and Infinity War sad that I didn't find them "the best movie ever", and enjoyed Black Panther and Deadpool 2 (and even Game Night, which doesn't really fit in with the theme of the discussion) much more while seeing an early morning matinee. That said, I do plan to see Solo at some point over the holiday weekend, but I get where you're coming from. lol, but I sort of really do not have a choice, if a Star Wars or MCU movies gets released I have to see it on the opening Thursday night or risk it getting spoiled at work the next day since I have sophomores for students and many of them do not know about non-spoiler etiquette. For example, I remember 2 1/2 years ago one student announced to the class the Friday morning after Force Awakens that they find Luke Skywalker in the end and just a few weeks ago a girl whispered to someone sitting next to her some of the deaths at the end of Infinity War which upset him because he had not gotten a chance to see the movie yet. In neither case was anything spoiled for me though because I had seen those movies the previous night. There is not much I can do about them spoiling the movies for each other, but at least I can prevent it from happening to myself. However, I got my ticket to Solo on Thursday night for a different reason as I am done working with students for at least a week and a half after Thursday morning (last day of final exams.) Instead I got the ticket in advance because I was originally planning on going to PWG's final show at the Legion Hall on Friday and then attend all 3 days of a festival I usually attend every Memorial Day weekend downtown from Saturday through Monday. But since then I broke my foot and I am no longer driving to California for PWG (I can barely drive up the freeway for work lol let alone to California) and now only attending the 3 day festival for 1 day on Sunday. Nevertheless my original intended schedule for this weekend made Thursday the best night to see Solo when I first bought my ticket.

I know I can't wait too long, because the "news" sites I follow start blurting things out pretty quickly.

I've managed to avoid spoilers on both Force Awakens and Last Jedi despite not going till it hit the second run theaters but I agree it's not easy.

I had a coworker who was really into sci-fi and super heroes avoid Force Awakens spoilers for almost a year. He wants to watch in 3D at home because he hates being in a theater with other people but invested in a huge set up at home, and Disney waited until the following November to release the 3D Blueray. I personally had a hard time waiting until the 2nd showing of Force Awakens on opening Thursday.

I saw Solo: A Star Wars Story tonight.
a very brief SPOILER free review:
very entertaining (I especially liked the train heist sequence) and very nostalgic to see early versions of Han, Chewie, Lando, and the Millennium Falcon and how they meet for the first time. also, Lando's droid is hilarious
Danny Glover was great as Lando Calrissian (IMO much better than Alden Ehrenreich portrayed Han Solo)
I really think there will be at least one sequel and tonight's movie makes me look forward to seeing that sequel.
B+
(no need to stay around for the end of the closing credits, no extra scene there)
