Expected this one to go longer but Race gets the controversial decision after some intense back and forth action. Perhaps next time, Rogers will learn not to get under the official’s skin. . . but I highly doubt it.

Road Warriors win with a DOOMSDAY DEVICE to Randy Rose

What an outing for the Road Warriors who overcame several moments of outside interference and destruction to soundly thrash the Original Midnight Express. The Express had their opportunity early in the match and just could not capitalize.

ULWL Title Match – Jimmy Snuka [ch] v. Lou Thesz
Handshakes . . . cheers! Thesz works Snuka into head scissors, Snuka out, chop misses, knee kick blocked, Snuka with piledriver! Vicious chop connects this time, Snuka grabs a headlock, backbreaker follows , another and another . . . Thesz takes a breather . . . Snuka dives over the top onto Thesz! Thesz catches him . . . OMG THROUGHT THE TABLE!!! Back in the ring . . . Thesz sends Snuka into the ropes . . .

Lou Thesz wins the title with a THESZ PRESS.

The count from Morgan Dollar seems a bit fast. Clearly the official wanted this one to end in the ring.

OVERALL
Things started out slow but the intensity really picked up in the second half of the show including a wild ending to the main event featuring a crazy table spot. Standouts tonight are Warriors/Express, Brazil/George and Thesz/Snuka.

Storyline wise, the main event for the next card has been set as the Road Warriors have earned themselves the first opportunity at ULWL Tag Team Champions The Fantastics and that encounter will headline card 5.  The real story unfortunately tonight was some controversial officiating in several bouts including the main event where a seemingly fast count put the title around the waist of Lou Thesz. Thesz for his part recognized the controversial nature of his win and immediately offered a rematch to Snuka on card 6. Similarly, Buddy Rogers has challenged Harley Race to a return match after falling victim to what he considers an improper three count. The Sheepherders have the same complaint as well so we may see them in action against the Taylor family soon.

Really great action on this card.

Great to see Lou Thesz capture the gold, but even cooler to see him offer a rematch to Jimmy Snuka.

What a tag bout between The Express & The Warriors, sounded like a demilitarized zone there for a bit.

Also enjoyed when Brody finally got Hennig outside the ring and "choked the slap" out of him lol.

There will be several big return matches tonight before the ULWL Tag Team Titles are on the line in our main event. The announce team breaks it down and we get to the action.

Another decisive victory for Sinn Bodhi over his former partner. It looks like this feud may be short lived given that Meanie was knocked into next week post match and had basically no offense for the second straight outing.

Ellering and Warriors swarming Morgan Dollar . . . HEAT. Dollar looking worried . . . Fulton and Hawk, arm drag sends Warrior to mat, whip to the corner, Hawk gets the knee up, Warriors with double clothesline . . . one count. Animal is, tosses Fulton to floor, brawling near Dr. Mike Lano . . . Irish whip reversed! Animal hard to the post! Rogers in, sleeper locked in, double sitout hip toss, wishbone stomp . . . Roaring fans!

Fulton in with right hand punch, Animal into ropes, rebounds with flying tackle. Warriors with double clothesline! Fulton into the ropes . . . backdrop countered with piledriver . . . Rogers in, Hawk to his feet immediately . . . Fulton is bleeding all over the floor. Animal takes hit back to the floor, Fulton reverses a whip, Animal eats the post. He is busted open! FANTASTIC FLIP for a one count only. Fulton with dropkick, Rogers in with whip to the corner . . . Rogers backdropped to the floor! Crawls back into the ring, Animal tosses him back out again. Hawk in and he tosses Rogers back to the floor. Rogers regains the ring. DOOMSDAY DEVICE. Fulton hits the ring with dropkicks all around. One for Ellering! POP!

Fulton officially in. Cross body to Animal, right hand punch, leap frog arm breaker works this time, right hand punch follows, Animal regroups on the floor. Back in the ring, Animal into the ropes . . .Fulton sets for backdrop . . .

Road Warriors win the ULWL Tag Team Titles with a small package to Bobby Fulton by Road Warrior Animal

Great tag team action to close out the night in a match that featured just about everything including a shocking finish.

Overall
The bell to bell action tonight was heavy on mayhem, blood and chaos. The highlight for me was the main event which could have gone either way right until the finish which came out of nowhere. Another big moment was the stunned reaction of the fans after Albano’s incredible victory. The was quite the debut for competitor from Sicily.

Storyline wise, tonight was not heavy on plot movement but it appears that the conflict between Sinn Bodhi and Blue Meanie is essentially over. While the issue between the teams of the Sheepherders and the Taylors might be just getting started with each team have on victory over the other and looking forward to the rubber match in the near future. Another big story is the continual fall of Bruiser Brody who at one point was booked to be part of a main event tag team feud with the Road Warriors along side Jimmy Snuka. That program never finalized largely in part to Snuka winning the ULWL title and Brody has struggled since. Will we see Brody seek bloody revenge on his recent opponents or will he pack up and head back to Japan?

What an epic battle. Had it been only one fall, Jimmy Snuka would be a two time champion but instead Thesz makes up for a slow start and dominates the final fall to retain the title.

Overall
In the ring, certainly the argument can be made that this was a two-match show with the main event and the tag team encounter between Midnight Express and the team of Bobo Brazil & Hacksaw Jim Duggan being the must see encounters. That is not to say that Savage v. George and Race v. Hennig are not worth a second look but they were not at the same level as the main event and the tag team war.

Storyline wise, we saw Randy Savage get his win back from Bobby Heneen in devastating fashion. Plus the Sheepherders took the rubber match against the Taylors in a very short encounter. The Taylors were anything but pleased and demanded a rematch. Trouble is brewing between the Midnight Express and the combination of Bobo Brazil & Hacksaw Jim Duggan. Lots of action tonight that impacts the rankings as everyone struggles to claim the number one contenders spot.

Speaking of contenders, does the Superfly deserve another shot at the gold? Thoughts anyone?

The impressive power attack of the Warriors is just too much for the Fantastics resulting in a squash match to close out the night.

Overall

In ring, the Original Midnight Express and the team of Bobo Brazil & Hacksaw Jim Duggan continue to impress on a nightly basis and their match is one to go out of your way to see. The contest between Buddy Rogers & Jimmy Snuka is also worth checking out along with the opening contest between Nikolai Volokff and Harley Race which was fun as well.

Storyline wise, the battle between the Taylors and the Sheepherders continues to simmer during the undercard. Fans are waiting for the intensity to boil over at some point with the apparent injury to Butch Miller, things may go to the next level shortly. As well, the battles between the Original Midnight Express and the team of Hacksaw Jim Duggan & Bobo Brazil have gained a lot of attention largely due to the in ring qualify and intensity. Both sides have to be considered top contenders for the ULWL Tag Team Titles especially considering the disappointing outing tonight for the Fantastics. On the singles side, there was certainly some frustration shown by Ted DiBiase tonight in his controversial loss to Randy Savage and a rematch should be forth coming. As well, Diamond Dallas Page will be looking to get back into the ring with Gorgeous George. The real story is taking place behind closed doors at this point as the ULWL Championship Committee is looking long and hard at the list of contenders in an effort to determine who will challenge Champion Lou Thesz next. Jimmy Snuka is a former champion and proven he remains a contender with his win tonight. Rob Van Dam looked impressive tonight and would make an interesting challenge for the Thesz in a clash of styles. Randy Savage may have gotten away with one tonight but his record is still solid and he is certainly deserving of a title shot. Finally, Harley Race is a tough as they come and also has an impressive record.

When it comes to top contenders for Lou Thesz's title, I would say (IMO), The Superfly should get the first crack at it.

And Harley Race right behind him.

But however it shakes out, its going to be a real event.
