After holding the cards in my hand for the 2088 set, I wish Werner would have done the 2087 color cards as well. I've got nothing against Darryl Banks' art, but I think Werner did a better job of capturing the iconic characters overall look! The ultimate compliment to Werner Mueck . Here is to many more early sets in color by him!

Most of the guys Banks did in the original set look cool, but they didn’t feel like the originals. These really do. And the art also mixes well with the newer cards. Great Job by Werner!

Adam Blast looks great. He definitely has to be the biggest improvement on the original one.

So, after 20+ years, I will be returning to my roots and running a GWF fed along with all my other stuff. I absolutely love the new art, the slight tweaks and overall, the bios and write ups in the handbooks... My biggest gripe/nostalgic regret is i REALLY liked the old Press Conferences and the way the characters were introduced and just the almost "mini-book" style of the old handbooks. I looked forward to the booklets as much or more than the cards back in the day! I would actually wait until the new sets came out and then reread all the old handbooks BEFORE I opened and read the new one. All cards remained safely in their little rubber bands until my "recounting of the GWF history", and only then would these new faces and upgrades get slowly and painstaking introduced (and the old versions of upgrades usually retired). I didn't always retire or say goodbye to the faces I was supposed to, at least until Kronos made my reluctance to put aside certain cards made it moot, but I always looked forward to the story arc for it all. So, while i like the concise, streamlined look of these new booklets, they just don't hold a candle to the originals...
ahhhh, thanks one and all for allowing my brief stroll down amnesia lane...

Maybe a Genesis pack too. Never got to use those guys. Otherwise I will be in my 60’s 👴🏻 before I could use them (or some of the Gladiators who aren’t in color). That’s if we get one reimagined set per year.

Wow, I haven't been on the board in years and somehow totally missed this re release coming out. Wow some of the art looks great but am I the only one that saw Man Mountain and immediately thought Gimli from Lord of the Rings?

Wow some of the art looks great but am I the only one that saw Man Mountain and immediately thought Gimli from Lord of the Rings? I think Pete might have said exactly the same thing. It's possible Werner used it as inspiration too. I can say for certainty no pics of LOTR were used as reference. Instead a few classic Norse warrior pics were used for both Gods. Could just be a coincidence.

One I was surprised to like so much was the new Adam Blast card....much better than Chuck's I have to say.
