Probably for the best. He never really worked out in WWE.

It's hard for International talent to make the connection here in the states and get over with the crowds. He'll land on his feet other places and be just fine! He's a good talent!

It's kind of hard for him to get over when from day one they took everything that made him who he was in the first place and debuted him as smiling happy Japanese guy. The injuries screwed him, obviously, but taking his whole identity away from him was worse.

Yes, like they did with Funaki! Really made him a comic relief, and he was decent in the ring for a small guy.

Yes, like they did with Funaki! Really made him a comic relief, and he was decent in the ring for a small guy. The Funaki thing was completely different, though. He wasn't a star in Japan, he was really just a dude from PWFG and BattlARTS who jumped to M-Pro and joined Kai En Tai. KENTA was an actual star who had a decade plus of being a smug, cocky little prick who wouldn't back down no matter how outmatched he actually was and they stripped all of it away from him. If you take the edge away, he loses basically everything and he's just another small Japanese guy doing WWE style. Had he signed two years later, hell even just one year later, there's a good chance he could have retained everything because they finally realized that it's okay to not completely repackage these guys when you signed them. But instead he became a victim to the era of NXT he debuted in. They took a legitimate all time great and turned him into just another guy. That's kind of remarkable.

Can’t imagine he’s in a hurry to return to the US.
