Earlier this morning, wrestling legend Jushin Thunder Liger announced at a NJPW press conference that he plans to retire at next January’s WrestleKingdom event. Liger, 54, stated that he wants to spend this final year of his career wrestling all around the world one last time. He also hopes to be involved in NJPW’s Madison Square Garden show that they’re sharing with Ring of Honor next month. Liger is an 11 time IWGP Junior-Heavyweight champion for NJPW, but he also made waves in the early 90s feuding with Brian Pillman in WCW, and appeared at NXT Takeover Brooklyn where he defeated Tyler Breeze. He recently challenged current Junior-Heavyweight champion Taiji Ishimori at the 47th anniversary show (results here) but came up short.

Still can put on a great match. Going to be a shave for him to go but probably time. Enjoy yourself, Mr. Liger.

Without a doubt, the greatest junior heavyweight ever in my opinion.

I really hope there's a Liger vs Pillman Jr match before he retires
