I went to Night 2 of BOLA tonight.
A quick recap:
AEW's referee Aubrey is making her PWG debut this weekend for BOLA. She is really cool, I will talk more about her at the end of this post.
Joey Janela defeated Mick Moretti in a First Round match.
Jake Atlas defeated Jungle Boy in a First Round match.
This result surprised me a little, but I am even more surprised that Jake Atlas is not signed by either the WWE or AEW yet.
Rey Fenix defeated Aramis in a First Round match
PWG World Tag Team Champions The Rascalz defeated Kyle Flethcer and A-Kid in a non-title match.
This was originally a title match of the Rascalz defending against Aussie Open but Mark Davis was unable to wrestle tonight.
Bandido defeated Puma King in a First Round match.
In the process, Bandido also won the DDT Iron Man Heavy Metal Title. But then after the match, Puma King rolled up Bandido from behind to regain the DDT Iron Man Heavy Metal Title. Bandido, however, is the one who advances to the next round. I talked to Bandido (he is selling copies of his ROH card as part of his merch) briefly after the show tonight. I am cheering for Bandido to hopefully win BOLA on Sunday.
Penta El Zero M defeated Tony Deppen in a First Round match
David Starr defeated Orange Cassidy in a First Round match
Daisuke Sekimoto and Jonathan Gresham defeated PWG World Champion Jeff Cobb and Brody King
Sekimoto pinned King. During this match, Cobb and King had some chemistry issues, I wonder if they will be opponents in the Quarter-Finals or Semi-Finals on Sunday before they are opponents in the preshow match at Death Before Dishonor next week in Las Vegas?
After the show, I made two signings for the game to go along with a signing I made before the show for a total of 3 signings tonight (1 of the signings though was on yesterday's show instead of today's show.) 3 really good names! I talked to someone else too after the show and I am now also currently working on hopefully getting at least a 4th signing on Sunday at PWG.
After the PWG shows, I also usually help my friend Alex who works at PWG. Alex does various things at PWG (i.e. he helps with the sound, helps with the doors, helps with the set up, etc- and tonight he rang the ring bell which caught me of guard as I did not know that when I was sitting next to him on the upper level until the bell rang right in my ear lol) and after the show he can't leave until all the chairs are stacked which means I can't leave either until all the chairs are stacked as Alex is my ride back to Las Vegas. So I usually help stack the chairs which allows me to stay in the Globe Theater longer after they kick everybody else out the door. Tonight Aubrey (the AEW referee, she apparently has ring crew experience) also helped stack the chairs (she showed me how to stack these new chairs used by the Globe Theater and I like these chairs because they are easier to stack as they interlock if placed correctly on top of each other which Aubrey showed me how to do.) Well, because Aubrey was also stacking chairs, the guys tearing down the ring- who normally do not care about the chairs- tonight decided to help stack chairs too which meant the chairs thankfully got done quicker.
Afterward, Alex and Jessica (another friend of mine) drove me to my hotel in downtown Los Angeles.
This was Show #47 of 2019 for me. Show #48 will be tomorrow night at AWS (PWG could not get the Globe Theater on Saturday which is why this year's BOLA is Thursday, Friday, and Sunday,) Show #49 will be Sunday's conclusion for BOLA, and Show #50 will be ROH's Death Before Dishonor PPV in Las Vegas next Friday.
