I, like most I'm sure, have always found the idea of a Scaffold Match extremely intriguing, even though I always feel very badly that someone is basically guaranteed to be injured. However, despite having an overtly dramatic atmosphere, Scaffold Matches themselves have always been sort of...crappy. And not that I blame the brave men who have competed in them. First of all, being 20 feet in the air on a rickety scaffold is overwhelmingly terrifying, and then you add in the fact that the scaffold itself is barely two feet wide, and there really isn't much that any wrestler could do up there except punch, kick, crawl and fall.
So, because I find the basic idea of a Scaffold Match entertaining, I set out to create a futuristic match that had the same basic idea, but solved the problem of an inability to move and then ramped everything up with high-tech, futuristic peril. And then it came to me: anything built above the ring would be smaller than the ring, restricting movement, and action. So...instead of building a platform in the air, why not take the ring itself into the air? I find the idea of a wrestling ring levitating in the center of an arena, high above the ground extremely epic. So I was happy.
And because I found the idea of wrestlers splatting onto concrete arena floors all the time too ridiculous even for me, I fulfilled the mission of ramping the peril up with futuristic techiness by implementing the Terraformer, which still held the potential for the dangerous concrete, but could also spawn other interesting and 'safer' surfaces as well.
Originally designed with one on one or tag team encounters in mind, the Ultimate Elevation Match can easily be adapted to whatever Battle Royal rules you might use by rolling normally for the Terraformer and rolling on the injury charts for everyone eliminated. However, it is imperative that you add 'THE ULTIMATE RISK' tagline to this type of match ;D
So, as my attempt to use the future to correct the problems of the Scaffold Match as well as to present my first 'Concept' match: The Ultimate Elevation Match! Needless to say, this match is for CotG only. Unless your LoW fed takes place in some sort of future environment.
50% Scaffold Match. 50% Battle Royal. 100% Perilous!
