Hi!
So this is my 1,000th post here on the OBoard, yay!
Wow, it's been fun, no?
Recap of my history with the game (not that anyone asked for it, haha):
Saw an ad in PWI way back in 1993 (March or May) -- a bunch of sets for only $60! I had seen the ads for years, but it was the artwork by Larry Snelly that sold me on the game.
Played a few fed years worth but really wasn't into it much, but it was a Title bout where Chaos VS Bishop Hell that drew me in! Chaos was destroying all competition up to that point, but Hell out-lasted him in an absolute 5-Star match! I was hooked after that!
Got every edition after that up to 2118, and had all the Special Edition cards (not the ones in GWF Promoter), and started posting my results starting in fed year 2110, back in 2000. The malls up here had free computer stations so I was able to spend a full day surfing and posting!
Built a bunch of websites with Tripod.com, posted my results in the old GWF Guestbook at gwfwrestling.com! Once the Guestbook closed, I saw free forum boards were at Proboards, and Chris Ingersoll asked me to be co-admin with him. "Sure, why not?" I said to him.
Lots of history over on that Board, it's still on the net. I'm sure those of us old-timers remember all the good times, and bad times (without naming names, mind you, haha)!
After some turbulent times in the early 2000's for me, I had to step away from the game back then, but came back around 2006. My old buddy Brian Barrow and me ruled, so much fun talking to him about lots of stuff!
The good old "Hall of Doom" was a blast! As well as Todd Holland's "The Deuce"! Weird Jerod and I worked hard on bootlegs of real life wrestlers, and that interesting to learn how to make bootlegs from the Master!
Stepped away for a bit again as I started taking college courses. Came up with the "celebrity bootleg" idea awhile ago and still like to do those up! (I was looking on Chris' old Board the other day, and found a post by Mr Filsinger saying he thought the idea of celebrity wrestling cards was, and I quote, "a bad idea"! LMAO!)
I'm currently working on some stuff with a fellow Promoter, and helping Kaz with his BCW (hopefully, it will be completed soon, yes?).
One thing I wish I had done years ago was contact Larry Snelly and get some artwork from him to make a set! I do have an artist friend at college, but she's just starting. I loved the fine detail that Snelly put into his art! Reminded me of Todd McFarlane!
Anyway, that's my story! Thanks for reading!
