Big Van Vader (17) v. Stan Hansen (29) Hansen and Vader are fired up before the bell. Ringside is electric for this clash of big men. Hansen shakes the ring with a Borger body slam and follows with a big elbow drop. Vader bails . . . HEAT. Vader is back inside. Hansen locks in a Brazos Valley backbreaker. Vader powers out (R10/P2). Hansen back to the Brazos Valley backbreaker and Vader escape under the ropes to the floor. Hansen is out after him. RUN FOR YOUR LIFE! Hansen into the ring post! BUSTED WIDE OPEN. Hansen is in trouble. Vader to the top . . . Deathjump crossbody . . . POWER SLAM REVERSAL!!! 1, 2, kick out (R6/P3). BUZZING! Hansen tosses Vader to the floor. Hansen outside. Ringside clearing away. Vader picks up Hansen . . . back first into the ring post. RELEASED POWER BOMB. Two count (R7/P4). Hansen blocks big boot to the face. Vader into the ropes . . . countering tackle. Another boot is blocked. Hansen with snap mare into sleeperhold. Borger body slam. Cover for two (R10/P4). Vader avoids a knee drop. Big boot to the face connects this time. Front slam from Vader. Cover for two (R7/P3). Vader to the top . . . forearm to the top of the head. Bone crushing splash. Hansen into the ropes . . . back drop countered with a piledriver. Hansen with a knee drop without a knee pad. Big elbow drop. Vader rebounded off the ropes . . . Vader with tackle. Big boot to the face. Hansen ducks a clothesline and slows it with snap mare into a sleeper hold. Hansen with a big elbow drop. Vader takes a powder. Back inside, Hansen control. Hansen to the top . . . Vader slams him to the mat. Vader to the top . . . MOONSAUT MISSES! Powerbomb from Hansen. OMG! Vader counters a charge to the corner with a knee. Vader with a power body slam. 1, 2, kick out (R7/P4). Vader mounts the corner again. Leaps . . . CRASH AND BURN!!! Hansen lays an arm across the chest . . . 1, 2, 3 (R3/P5). Once again, the competitor with arguably the best card mechanic will not win the tournament as Vader’s decision to opt for the deathjump proves costly! Next up . . . Harley Race (2) v. The Destroyer (38) Absolutely epic battle. I was literally on the edge of my seat reading it. As much as I like The Destroyer, and that was a huge win for him over Harley Race, I have to go with Stan Hansen in the finals. |

Before we get to the action, I just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who took the time to follow along the action for the last few weeks. The response this year has been larger than ever and it is the comments and feedback that keeping me coming back year after year. Special thanks to walkswithwolf who was kind enough to help me get my head around some of the Rohl rating during the seeding process. Much appreciated my friend. Now… onto the finals Stan Hansen (29) v. The Destroyer (38) Hansen is fired up swinging his cowbell before the bell. He opens with a boot to the midsection and a big elbow drop crusher Destroyer. Knee drop lands without the knee pad. Hansen rebounds Destroyer into the ropes . . . both go for a clothesline and crash to the mat. Hansen is up first. Brazos Valley backbreaker. Destroyer just makes the ropes (R3/P2). Another knee drop lands. Destroyer gets whipped into the corner . . . rebounds out with a clothesline. Backbreaker from Destroyer and Hansen bails. Destroyer comes outside and they trade blows. Hansen gets the upper hand. Knee drop misses. Airplane spin. Destroyer with a backbreaker and handstand knee drop. Hansen gets tossed to the floor. Back inside . . . Destroyer grabs a leg . . . FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK. Hansen reaches the ropes (R7/P4). Backbreaker from Destroyer. Airplane spin sets up a bow and arrow. Hansen escapes (R6/P3). FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK . . . Hansen slap across the face breaks the hold (R11/P6). Destroyer goes back to the leg again . . . FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK. Hansen cannot reach the ropes . . . blackout (R6/P7). Destroyer wins the tournament! |

Yes! What a final! Great result for the Sensational, Intelligent Destroyer!
This tournament really does show what a stacked roster we have in Legends now. Some heavy hitters made it very far and I’m sure a lot of people’s money would have been on Race or Vader, but The Destroyer is worthy of his monicker and is crowned the winner in epic fashion!

Not expecting him but really cool. Reminds me when we were at DiPaolo's restaurant and Destroyer won there as well.

Great tournament bookerbill !!! I met The Destroyer at my first GCON (I think it was the first one) and he was a great guy. Shows ya that on any given day, any wrestler can win... I do something similar to my fed in the Bunkhouse Brawl Tournament...hope to see you there! |
