AEW's Double or Nothing 2020 in Las Vegas om May 23, 2020

In the past, Tony Khan has said that Double or Nothing would be back in Las Vegas and once again taking place at the MGM Grand Garden during Memorial Day Weekend, today it was officially announced:

AEW Announces Details on Double Or Nothing 2020, Tony Khan Comments

AEW Double Or Nothing 2020 has been officially announced for Saturday, May 23 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Tickets will go on sale Friday, February 14, Valentine’s Day.

The news was first announced by Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated today. Barrasso spoke to AEW President & CEO Tony Khan, who touted the success the company has had since the first Double Or Nothing pay-per-view.

“Last May, we sparked a revolution with our inaugural Double or Nothing pay-per-view event in Las Vegas,” Khan said. “Double or Nothing rocked the wrestling industry and led to Wednesday Night Dynamite, a top-rated weekly show on TNT reaching millions of viewers worldwide, and over 140,000 live event tickets sold to date.”

Khan continued, “It’s been an incredible run, and only fitting that we return to Las Vegas to celebrate our one year anniversary with AEW’s marquee event. On Saturday, May 23, Double or Nothing is back for round two at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Last year’s event changed the world of wrestling, and this year the stakes will be even higher.”

Double Or Nothing 2019 was the first-ever pay-per-view event held by AEW, back on May 25 at the same venue. That event was headlined by current AEW World Champion Chris Jericho defeating current AEW World Tag Team Champion Kenny Omega. DoN 2019 also saw current AEW World Tag Team Champion Adam Page win a Casino Battle Royale to earn the singles match with Jericho at the All Out pay-per-view in August 2019. Jericho won that match to become the inaugural AEW World Champion.

Update on AEW’s Big Plans for Las Vegas In May

As noted last week at this link, AEW Executive Vice President Cody Rhodes revealed during a conference call that AEW will have various things for fans to do as they stay in Las Vegas for the week between the Double Or Nothing pay-per-view on Saturday, May 23, and the post-DON edition of Dynamite on May 27. Both events are being held at the same venue.

There will be no Starrcast convention associated with Double Or Nothing this year. Fightful Select reports that the idea is to run various panels and meet & greets throughout the week, and it sounds like there may be merchandise give-aways and other activities to keep fans busy.

AEW should be releasing full details on the big week in Vegas here soon. Stay tuned for updates.

I don't think I will do the meet and greets though as I have already met most of the roster (including some of them many times) such as the Bucks, Kenny Omega, Adam Page, Sammy Guevara, Lucha Brothers, Cody, PAC, Darby Allin, SCU, Jake Hager, Joey Janela, Ortiz and Santana, Jurassic Express, Chuck Taylor and Trent, Jimmy Havoc, Peter Avalon, Orange Cassidy, and some names I won't identify here since I signed them to the game.
