Its been a few years since I’ve played. When I decided to take it up again and began reading my fed I realized it had become a bloated, convoluted mess. I’d crammed five years worth of storyline into less than a single year. Furthermore, I no longer had the passion or connection to those angles and story lines I’d left dormant for five years. So I decided a reboot was required. But I also knew that my professional and family commitments would make it difficult to run a standard fed with story lines, feuds, angles etc. So I decided to go with a tournament based fed.
Tournaments have alway fascinated me. The randomness of the seeding, the chance for the underdog to defy all expectations, the excitement of looking at the brackets and seeing so many different possible matchups, that could happen. It gives me the same joy and excitement and drama as a standard fed does. Plus doing a tournament based fed will allow me to integrate the sets from every year in a more logical and orderly fashion without having the stress of keeping up all the machinations of a standard fed. And finally, if I am unable to play for an extended amount of time, a tournament based fed is much easier for me to just jump right back in.
There will be 3 Megatournaments per calendar year. The first tournament starts in the year 2087 will have 32 wrestlers. The original 24 wrestlers with the 2087 base game and 8 additional wrestlers consisting of official game cards and bootlegs. All real world wrestlers will be considered clones.
For storyline purposes it is assumed that all of the wrestlers spend most of the year competing in different promoters federations throughout the galaxy but come together three times a year to test themselves in the Megatournaments.
The tournaments are single elimination.
They will be scored on a point system. All wins up to the quarterfinals earn 1 point. A quarterfinal victory scores 2 points. A semifinal victory is worth 3 points. A tournament victory is worth 5 points.
All rounds through quarterfinals will follow standard wrestling rules: victory by pinfall, submission or DQ.
The semifinals and finals will be NO DQ. Victory by pinfall or submission only.
After the final tournament of the calendar year the 12-16 ( depending on a 32 or 64 seed tournament) with the lowest point totals will be matched up in a qualifying tournament for the following year. Only the winner of that tournament will be eligible for the next years Megatournament cycle.
Each new year the batch of cards that came with that set will be automatically entered into the years tournament. Within a couple of years the tournament will expand to a 64 seed bracket. Down the line, if a wrestler is still eligible to compete when a new card for them becomes available it will replace the old card.

Megatournament 2087: Opening Round
Saturday, 1/4/2087
GWF Arena, Deimos
BLOCK A
MATCH # 1
Actagon vs Thantos
JR: “The match got off to a quick start with Actagon quickly getting the upper hand. But Thantos relied on dirty tactics and superior ring strategy to throw Actagon off his game. His frustration continued to build and in a fit of rage he threw Thantos outside the ring and attacked him outside the ring. The refers tried to break things up but Actagon gored his instructions and the refers finally had enough and called for the bell.”
WINNER: Thantos by DQ. He advances to the second round.
MATCH # 2
Wolf vs Omega
JR: “A hard fought and entertaining match. The old man gave as good as he got and in several memorable moments seemed to control the match. But in the end Wolf was simply to powerful and to wild, wearing Omega down with his Savage Face Claw before finally getting the pin.”
WINNER: Wolf by pinfall. He advances to the second round.
MATCH # 3
CM Punk vs Brute
JR: “Brute took the upper hand, relying on his raw power to toss Punk around the ring and pummel him down. But Punk was tenacious and relied on his speed and agility to force Brute to chase him down and wear himself out in the process. It took not one but two Pepsi Plunge finishers to finally put Brute away.”
WINNER: CM Punk by pinfall
MATCH # 4
Renegade vs Bret “The Hitman” Hart
JR: “Bret’s superior ring skills controlled much of the match, but Renegade relied on wild brawling and dirty tactics in & out of the ring to stay competitive. One particular low blow left Bret writing in pain outside the ring and he was unable to make the referee’s 10-count and was disqualified.”
WINNER: Renegade by pinfall
MATCH # 5
Commander Sam vs Comrade Terror
JR: “Comrade Terror dominated from the opening bell, tossing the old man around like a plaything before finally finishing him off with the Atomic Warhead.”
WINNER: Comrade Terror by pinfall.
MATCH # 6
Killer Queen vs Jay Briscoe
JR: “The match quickly degenerated into a wild brawl, both men ignoring the rules and the referee. Despite warning both men of being DQ’ed, the referee never followed through on his thread and let them fight it out. It was Jay Briscoe that proved to be the meaner and tougher of the two, finally wearing Killer Queen down enough to secure the pin.”
WINNER: Jay Briscoe by pinfall.
MATCH # 7
Marshe “Mr M80” Rockett vs Jacob Hammermeier
This was a fast paced, one sided match as M80 dazzled his opponent with his highflying style, scoring a pin after a pair of top rope cross body blocks.
WINNER: Marshe “Mr. M80” Rockett by pinfall
MATCH # 8
The Executioner vs Pit Viper
Pit Viper tried to use his martial arts skills to wear down his larger opponent, but the Executioner was able to absorb all the punishment Pit Viper could dish out. When he finally was able to get his hands on Viper he used his strength and brutality to maul the smaller man. A trio of Headsman’s Guillotines put Pit Viper down for the count.
WINNER: The Executioner
The second round (Sweet Sixteen) matchups from block are
Thantos vs Wolf
CM Punk vs Renegade
Comrade Terror vs Jay Briscoe
Marshe “M80” Rockett vs The Executioner
JR: “The first night of Megatournament 2087 featured some incredible action and heartbreaking upsets. Possibly the most intriguing thing coming out of tonights matches is the second round matchup between Thantos and Wolf. Both men were expected to do well in the tournament and now one of them well be eliminated with only a single point to their name. My God I LOVE this sport! Be sure to tune in next saturday for the Block B series of matches which will pave the way for round two, The Sweet Sixteen!”
