I was just wondering how all of you other promoters deal with boring matches. For example, I recently had a match between S.D. Jones and 'Wild' Red Berry. The match began at 1:00 and didn't end until 1:27. The match kept going back and forth, but S.D. and Red kept using the same moves over and over again. During the bout I said to myself, "this match is boring", but I kept on rolling the dice, hoping that one of them would finally get a victory. Well, after 27 minutes, S.D. finally put Red away with the Cocobutt. Let's face it, 27 minutes is a good length for a main event match, but these two wrestlers were never main event calibre. Is there something any of you promoters do to turn boring matches into entertaining matches? Please reply with any ideas!!!!

I recently had a similar problem and it was because I broke one of my unwritten rules of COTG/LOW: DON'T book undercard guys to wrestle each other! I learned this way back in the days of Astro Turk and Ursa Major in the GWF and it is true to this day! But I did it anyway, booking a match between George South and Johnny Rodz. Almost 25 minutes of boredom later I FINALLY had an ending to the match.
The only thing I can say is either arbitrarily pick a point in the bout and call it a time limit draw (as I have often done in the past), or just don't book guys with no "putaway power" to face each other.

This is the reason I dislike using jobbers. Also, I try to avoid pitting wrestlers who have only one "down-3" on level 3 defence against each other. But I'd like to know how fast you lot play the game, as my matches often last an hour in real time no matter who wrestles! And my 6 or 8-man tagteam matches can last even longer!!!

I just pick a point in the match and call it a time limit draw or figure out someway to call it a DDQ. No point having a boring match go on and on.

when a match starts going too long, I use the magic of outside interference to help.

Yeah, that's the time you need to send in King Kong Bundy to beat up both guys and cut a promo on his feuding opponent.

Yeah, that's the time you need to send in King Kong Bundy to beat up both guys and cut a promo on his feuding opponent. Or if he's not feuding with anyone, just simply beat the crap out of both guys, pin them for a FIVE COUNT, and then commence posing until the show ends, even if there are other matches.

Both of these sound awesome. My undercard matches often have a 10-15 minute time limit. The way I do the time that amounts to, roughly, 200-300 dice rolled. Often my undercard matches between jobbers will go the full time limit. But usually not. If I had two faces against each other, then they'd shake hands at the end of the match and congratulate each other on their performance. If I had someone like Red Berry in the ring, I'm sure the Kangaroos would intercede to turn the match in their manager's favor. Or King Kong Bundy just runs in and beats the crap out of both guys. That's GOLD right there... ;D

When things get really bad, I'll often set a limit, say 10 offensive dice rolls. If the match still isn't over - time limit draw.
Although the Bundy run-in works nicely as well...

I enjoy the long matches, undercard or not - just makes what might've been a fairly uninteresting match get a little exciting.
No time limits here - recently had a coffin match (experiment) that lasted fooooorever. Loved every minute, though, especially as the pin ratings went up.
