Today/yesterday (Monday) one of my former students- who I heard now attends UCLA- was a contestant on the Price is Right and she advanced all the way to the Showcase Showdown (but unfortunately she did not win.)
After hearing the news, I just watched the stream of the show.
When she spun the wheel (which she won to advance to the Showcase Showdown,) she called out the names of two of her siblings who were also two of my former students. I taught her AP Human Geography but I did not teach her Math, so I can not take too much credit for her success on the show today lol.
It was very cool seeing one of my best students on one of the best game shows ever today. I am very proud of her!

Very cool, vegas! Question, and pardon my ignorance but what is Human Geography? It wasn't a subject back in '85'.

Very cool, vegas! Question, and pardon my ignorance but what is Human Geography? It wasn't a subject back in '85'. Yeah, AP Human Geography was not a subject when I was in school either and is actually the newest Social Studies subject in AP. Some of the themes in the class are migration, population, agriculture, urban geography, language, religion, health (including diseases,) human-environment interaction, globalization, etc. Although I made them work hard from bell to bell, many of my students told me it was their favorite class and my pass rate on the annual AP Exam every year was better than the global pass rate for that same exam. It was definitely a fun class to teach, but I gave it up for the even more rigorous AP World History class which I currently teach (both of my degrees are in History so when I was told to choose between the two I accepted the more challenging class and have no regrets.)

I'd find that a rather interesting course. Anyways cool that your student did so well even if she did not win.
