Burning Spirit Special Report
5.10.2088 - Hello everyone and welcome to the Burning Spirit special report. Burning Spirit is set to take place from May 23rd to the 29th and is set to make some very interesting history along the way.
Lets start with the fact that for only the 4th time in company history, We will see the steel structure known as the cosmic cage. The GWF Galaxian Tag Team Championships will be on the line on night 1 of the tour as the Greek Gods have been ordered by the championship committee to defend the tag team titles against the Animal Pack. This match was made as a result of what happened in the tag team championship match at Genesis where the tag team champions were disqualified for brawling outside of the ring. The Greek Gods have been at war with the Animal Pack as this was the third straight title match against the Animal Pack. Now the amount of history this is going to have going into the match alone is massive. First off, this is only the second time the tag team titles have been defended inside the cosmic cage. Secondly, This marks the first time in company history that a tour has hosted the cosmic cage in consecutive years. The very first comic cage match was held on night 1 of this very tournament last year at the Deimos Intergalactic Arena between Thantos and Massif for the GWF Galaxian Championship. Depending on how this match goes will only really effect the finals and championship match of the tournament. It does go without saying though that this does put teams at a disadvantage at the start not really knowing who is waiting for the them. Here is how the tag team tournament starts out for Burning Spirit...
#1 Contenders Tournament - GWF Galaxian Tag Team Championships - First Round Matches
Society of Death vs Beauty and The Beast
Gladiators of Aethra vs Bomb Squad
Titan Power vs Norse Gods
Neptunian Space Croppers vs Henchmen
Loser of Cosmic Cage Match - Bye in the finals.
Pulsar had one of the most impressive tournament runs we have seen in a long time. All four of his tournament matches went over the 15 minute mark as he was able to take down Reptillo, Splatter, Killer Queen and Pit Viper to make it to the championship match. In the end though it was not enough for him to come away with his fourth reign as Interplanetary Champion as Current Champion Invincible Krakan was able to retain title and tie the record that Pulsar set for most successful title defenses at 3. Krakan will look to cement his name in the record books at the end of this tournament with his fourth defense but knows that Pulsar is already in the semi-finals. Add to that we are getting a first round clash between two men that Pulsar defeated to get to the championship match in Killer Queen and Pit Viper. This is going to be one of the best tournaments for the Interplanetary Championship ever. Here is a look at the full set of matches in the first round of the tournament.
#1 Contenders Tournament - GWF Interplanetary Championship - First Round Matches
Omega vs Death Knight
Splatter vs Reptillo
Pit Viper vs Killer Queen
Pulsar - Bye into the semi finals
Spike came so close in become the new GWF Galaxian Champion at Genesis. Matter of fact, Spike became the first man this year to not submit to the Masterlock the first time by making it to the ropes for a break. The look of disbelief on the face of Thantos made the fans believe there may have been a dent to finally happen in the armor of Thantos in his championship reign. Spike however was not able to survive a second attempt of the Masterlock by Thantos and was forced to tap out. Thantos grabbed his belt and rolled out of the ring as quickly as he could as he knows he was able to steal a victory away from Spike. Fans do believe though that if Spike can make it back to the championship match, Thantos may not be so lucky to retain the title. Here is how the first round of matches look in this tournament.
#1 Contenders Tournament - GWF Galaxian Championship - First Round Matches
Exo-King vs Mesmer
Wolf vs Star Warrior
Massif vs Bishop Hell
Spike - Bye in to the semi finals
History will be made at Burning Spirit on night 1 alone with the cosmic cage match. Will we see any other history be made by the end of the tournament? Only one way to find out and that is to stay right here with us as we bring you the official results of the Burning Spirit tournament.
