I love Carters art the most but that was also the first art I saw. I love the 2087 to 2117 era that I have played the most.
I cant wait to get to the current era

I think it would be interesting to hear from folks who started playing at the time of New Beginnings or when the color GWF set was available. Did most folks start from there, or did they go back to 2087 and start? I know Carter's art doesn't always get love, but I think it showed so much expression and character for the wrestlers. When the Duke of Destruction and Red Talon b&w cards came out, it took me back to being a kid. I love those cards! I remember discussing the cards with iowaoaks at the IPW show in Waterloo on HOF weekend. We were both wigging out. I started playing the game in 1988/89 when I was in high school, so, yeah I had the most enjoyment in those early years. This is of course going to happen with anything. The most "love" will come from the time period you were most invested. Think about your sports teams or, better yet pro-wrestling and the time you watched the most or have the happiest memories. Now a couple steps further. The art is as important (or more) to me as stats. I don't use the official "story line" to play. I love reading it, but my federation is alternate universe and for me, I create a lot of story from the art (and then Tom helps me with his cannon universe.) Think about those sets with the terrible Brian Bendis art. Those are some hard sets for me to use. And, if I can be serious for a minute, this (the CotG ellement) isn't considered a real serious game. (Wait before you attack me for this statement.) We play a primarily solo table top paper, pencil and dice RPG... about pro-wrestling based in the future, in outer space, with crazy comic book, good and evil, sci-fi elements. Have you ever tried to describe the game you love to "regular" people? My wife mocks me all the time. Pro-wrestling alone gets the "you know it's fake, right?" comments every time I say it is my favorite sport. I love it, you love it.. but it is a little silly. So.... I, personally, like the slightly more cartoonish Carter art for my pro-wrestling comic book RPG! However... To get new people, not us old fogies, The Daryl Banks art is perfect. (He is one of my favorite comic book artists) And the color looks great. They are dynamic and I ain't complaining.. however, those are not the cards I grew up with. Rarely do you get to go back to some of the happiest moments of your life (I really, really loved this game as a kid) and that is what those two new Carter cards did for me.

Old school for the art. New School for the storylines.

so I voted, "I like both". Maybe I am just a GWF junkie, but I really do like every era - while I haven't been able to play as much as I used to, I still geek out for the new school and the old school just brings out that nostalgia.
I think what I really like is the evolution - there is history back to the earliest old school days and the new school is just exciting, pushing the edge linked back to what makes this game great!
