40 years after its release in 1980, where do you rank The Empire Strikes Back among the 11 live action Star Wars movies?
I am a big Star Wars fan (some of the face scarves I am wearing when I go out during this pandemic are Chewbaca, Darth Vader, and Darth Maul.) 40 years ago The Empire Strikes Back was released in 1980 and it remains my favorite Star Wars film followed by Return of the Jedi.

The Original Star Wars was amazing! So when Empire came out, I read the novel first, and thought I could picture it all with my vivid imagination! Imagine my surprise when I was STILL blown away by what was on the movie screen, wow!
Empire is still my favorite movie of all-time, with John Carpenter's The Thing a close second.
My favorite scene:
BTW, great topic, Vegas!

Yea I put it third on my list. Episode IV is first and IX is second mostly for the dark ending.

You could make the argument that Empire is the only Star Wars movie that is legit a great movie... beyond the mythic status of Star Wars and action movies in general.
I say that and I love all the Star Wars movies... except Last Jedi.
