January 2119 Edition

Shockwaves in the GWF!

As we all know, people across the galaxy have been suffering greatly as this economic depression rages on. Even the GWF isn’t immune to these hard times, as they’ve been forced to cut contracts and seen the departure of many GWF fixtures over the later half of 2118. This, combined with the events of last year’s Cosmic Clash, which saw the closure of dimensional portals and thus the return of many wrestlers to their respective home dimensions, has led to the GWF rolling into the new year with their thinnest roster since the founding days of the GWF. But, not to be dissuaded by this, Commissioner Massif told the magazine that this new lean roster will allow them to get back to basics and provide the fans with the high quality product that they’ve come to know.

In addition to the other losses, the Gladiators of Aethra are left rebuilding their stable following the retirements of the legendary Brute, leader Spike, Thunder and Malice. As his last act, Spike handed over the reins to Disaster, as a thank you for his loyalty over matters with Vengeance. In response, Disaster and Thrash brought out newcomers Havoc and Paralyze to accept the Troubleshooters’ open challenge at Final Battle. The duo beat them in convincing fashion, allowing them to debut in 2119 as the Galaxian Tag Team champs. Meanwhile, still raging from losing his belt to Endgame back at the Deimos Perennial ‘18, Disaster has been on a rampage as he’s been pressing Commissioner Massif for his rematch.

Finally, we address the aftermath of Star Warrior’s recent revelation that Bloodline is actually his son and not the brother that he and Omega had spent years telling the crowd. Initially angered at his father and grandfather for this, Bloodline came around and claimed that he “respects his father for finally coming clean”. Following this event, his long-time mentor Thantos turned on him in disgust, leading to Bloodline breaking off his relationship and joining up with Lorelai’s FDF.


FTR: The Future of Wrestling

Meanwhile, back on Cetus, Star Warrior is ready to launch his newest project since being banished from the GWF. With backing from the GWF, he has debuted the FTR, a developmental training school that airs live wrestling shows from the FTR Training Center, an intimate 1500 person arena. During the press conference, he brought out and embraced his father, Omega. He announced to the press in attendance that the legendary Omega would serve as one of the FTR’s many trainers, before unveiling the rest of his staff: Lord Nexus, Alpha Force, Supernova, Ursa Major and Max Shield.

Warrior was also happy to hype up their talent as an eclectic mix of next generation talent and budding youngsters looking to make their splash in the world of wrestling. Also, with the backing of the GWF, the promotion will regularly send their young talent to the main roster, while also serving as a home for out-of-work talent to work with the youngsters. Star Warrior announces that the first to take up that offer is the massive Avalanche, who’s shown up with his new partner, Old School, another Cloneworld denizen.


CPC Doomed?

Even the Colby-Pelf Corporation isn’t immune to economic depressions as they recorded major losses over the course of 2118. Reportedly, the company over-extended itself with its huge contracts offered to GWF talent during their war. Rumors persist that Magnus Colby is on the brink of cutting his losses and moving on from wrestling, but for the time being, he’s loaning his workers out to the GWF and FTR to regain some money spent. Word is that CPC fixture Zed Marlowe is penciled in for the GWF’s Lord of the Ring tournament in February, with some of their top teams coming in for TagMasters in March.

Announcers: Dragonmaster and Vanity 

Dragonmaster: Ladies and Gentlemen, it’s a new year here in the GWF and we’re looking to start it off with a bang. Isn’t that right, Vanity?

Vanity: Oh baby, you are correct! The GWF may be running leaner right now, but we're still the best game in town! In fact, I’ve got word from our own commissioner, Massif, that the vacated Interplanetary title will be finding a new champion tonight in the main event! That’s right, the AniMan Swarm will be battling the Amazing Mann of the Greatest Show on Earth for the right to be the newest champion!

Dragonmaster: That should be a real barnburner later tonight, folks. But for now, let’s go to the ring for our opening match!


Steele Freak (w/ Vin Strutter) vs. Minotaur

Minotaur defeated Steele Freak with an Andromeda Drop

At one point, Minotaur went his Minotaur’s Charge, but Steele Freak leapt out of the corner and caught him with his Berserk Pounding Assault. It wasn’t enough for him to put the beast away though, as he dropped Steele Freak on his head for the win.


Stars & Stripes (American Guy and U.S. Male) (w/ Latasha) vs. The Troubleshooters (Muss and The Bomb) (w/ Phantasy)

The Bomb defeated American Guy with a face first piledriver

A back-and-forth match saw the former champions score a big win on their path towards a rematch with the Gladiators of Aethra.

Special Guest: Disaster

Johnny Rocket welcomes everyone to the newest episode of his “award-winning and groundbreaking” interview segment. He informs the crowd that for the first show of the year, he's secured a most special guest for this evening, the former GWF Galaxian Heavyweight champion and current leader of the Gladiators of Aethra -- Disaster!

Disaster: Move aside, Rocket! My reasons for being here are simple! The Gladiators of Aethra will reclaim their place at the top of the GWF this year! We already saw Havoc and Paralyze, my first recruits, put those so-called Troubleshooters down at Final Battle! And they can complain to Massif all they want about a rematch, but they’ll never get them back off my men! And as for myseld with Endgame? Well, you may have stolen my belt from me back at the Perennial, but make no mistake, I’m coming back for it! I don’t care if I have to maim and destroy every fighter in this promotion, I will get my hands around your throat, Endgame! That’s a guarantee!


Sly Drury vs. Reckless

Sly Drury defeated Reckless with a knee breaker

Thantos’ new mercenary makes his GWF debut in convincing fashion against one of Endgame’s Guardians.

Swarm (w/ She-Devil) vs. The Amazing Mann (w/ Vin Strutter)

Swarm defeated The Amazing Mann with the Hornet’s Sting

A top-tier match to close out the first show of the year, as Swarm and Amazing Mann drive each other to the brink of destruction. At one point, Swarm had Mann lined up for his Hornet’s Sting, but Vin Strutter threw himself in the line of fire and took the full blow for his client. In the end, it didn’t matter though, as Swarm nailed Mann again for the pinfall.

Announcers: Star Warrior & Ursa Major

Star Warrior: It gives me great honor to welcome everyone to the debut of FTR Elevation, the future of professional wrestling! I’ve worked long and hard getting this show off the ground and I promise you that we have a great show for you tonight!

Ursa Major: That’s correct, boss! We’ve got a great bunch of talent ready to give it their all best tonight. From second and third generation stars-in-the-making to brand new talent, the FTR has it all! Let’s get to our first match, where former GWF star Avalanche is set for tag team action with a new ally from Cloneworld!


Avalanche & Old School vs. Mad Maxus (The Electric Axe and Totally Awesome)

Old School defeated the Electric Axe with an Old School Suplex

Max Maxus comes out a wild and rockin’ entrance, but it’s all just a big show. In the end, Avalanche batters the pair, letting Old School finish off Axe for the win.

King Tux vs. Vacant

King Tux defeated Vacant with a Belly Flop

Vacant, the alleged son of the infamous Cannibal, was caught off guard by the ferocious anger of the diminutive King Tux. He falls victim to a splash in the middle of the ring.

Legacy (Thomas “TKO” Keller and Darian Caelum) vs. Disciple of Terror and Murtak the Merciless

Thomas “TKO” Keller defeated Murtak with the TKO

The grandsons of GWF legends K.O. Keller and Torin Caelum made their debut in convincing fashion as they cut Murtak off from his partner and proceeded to wear him down. Also accompanying them to ringside was the twin grandsons of Toro Moldavo; Tyne and Tanis, the other members of Legacy.

Faller vs. Mayham 

Mayham defeated Faller with the Leap of Doom

Faller comes out to heroic cheers as he does battle with the Aethra-sympathizing AniMan. And he did manage to get the better of Mayham for most of the match, until Mayham got the upper hand and went for a desperate Leap of Doom to score an upset.


Golden Star (w/ Lord Nexus) vs. Mass

Golden Star defeated Mass with the Golden Phoenix

As he comes down to the ring, accompanied by Lord Nexus, the announcers discuss how Golden Star is the prodigal son of GWF legend Dragonmaster. It’s also mentioned that with Nexus involved, it can only mean that Golden Star is undoubtedly on the short list for the FDF. His opponent? The slow and plodding genetic mess known as Mass. Golden Star has some initial difficulty getting him off his feet, but after that, he quickly goes down to the majestic Golden Phoenix.


Swerve vs. Captain Crossbones

Captain Crossbones defeated Swerve with the Black Sails

The Titan youth tries his best to make a big debut against the undead pirate captain, but he just can’t hang when he’s put down swiftly.

Dragonmaster: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the BattleZone! I’m your host, Dragonmaster, and I’m joined by my favorite partner, Vanity. And we have a great show on tap tonight, don’t we?

Vanity: Oh baby, that is correct! We’ve got some hot tag action for you people at home. Genesis versus the Colonizers!

Dragonmaster: Both teams are vying to climb the ranks for a shot at the Gladiators of Aethra’s belts.

Vanity: And speaking of them, we’ve got the Gladiators of Aethra going up against the Guardians in the main event tonight!

Dragonmaster: Could we see the growing feud between Endgame and Disaster come to a head before a title match? Let’s take it to the ring for our first match!

Thrash defeated Latasha with the Femme Fatale

The Gladiatrix of Aethra makes quick work of the Stars & Stripes’ girl.

Genesis (Tauran and Anivar) vs. The Colonizers (Epoch and Slave Beast)

Tauran defeated Epoch with a gutbuster bodydrop

Following their battle, Tauran grabbed a microphone and warned the Gladiators that they were coming for them.


The Launching Pad w/ Johnny Rocket
Special Guest: Bloodline

Johnny Rocket welcomes everyone to a new edition of the Launching Pad. He then says that his guest for tonight is the newest member of the FDF -- Bloodline!

Bloodline: Thank you, Johnny. It’s an honor to be your stage tonight.

Rocket: Let’s cut to the chase and get to what’s on everyone’s mind, Bloodline -- the bombshell dropped by Star Warrior late last year.

Bloodline: Yes, I’ve spoken rather candidly about this in December, but I can only reiterate that while I was initially angered, I’ve come to understand and respect my father’s reasons for doing what he did. I hold no ill will towards him or Omega.

Rocket: Of course, we all remember Final Battle, where Thantos turned on you and kicked you from the Gamemasters. In the time since, Encubus has stated his intentions of ending your career for your ‘betrayal’ to the Gamemasters by joining the FDF.

Bloodline: I understand his anger, I’ve been there. He felt overshadowed by his father’s attention to me, and now that I’m gone, he feels a need to unleash that on me. I’m more than happy to settle our issues in the ring.

Rocket: How’s it feel to be in the FDF? There’s a lot of history there.

Bloodline: Of course, they were founded by four of the GWF’s legends -- two of which being my own family. It’s a heck of a legacy to live up to. But I’m happy to be serving under Lorelai and look forward to helping the group grow.


Tristan (w/ Payback) vs. Antak (w/ Minotaur)

Tristan defeated Antak with Arcana

Antak dominated the young Tristan for most of the match, as Payback screamed at him from ringside. It was only through a costly error on Antak’s part that led to Tristan rolling him up for a near-fall. Before the Animan could even recover, Tristan nailed him with the Arcana for the win.

The Gladiators of Aethra (Disaster, Havoc and Paralyze) vs. The Guardians (Endgame, Valour and Reckless)

Paralyze defeated Endgame by DQ

In a wild brawl of a main event, the Gladiators took the fight to the Guardians with slugging blows and nasty attacks. As the match hit its peak, Paralyze managed to catch Endgame in the Brutal Infliction. Before he could pin him, Disaster motioned for him to hit it again. After a second time, Endgame was tossed to ringside by Paralyze. As the Gladiator climbed out to finish off the champ, Endgame grabbed a steel chair and used it to defend himself from a vicious blow and draw a DQ. Unsatisfied with this, Disaster and Havoc cleared out Valour and Reckless before aiding Paralyze in a brutal assault on Endgame.

Announcers: Star Warrior & Ursa Major 

Star Warrior: Welcome to Elevation, everyone! Now, we had a great first week, but we here at the FTR aren’t about to coast on that. Starting tonight, we start a tournament to crown the very first FTR champion. Who do we have in the book for tonight, Ursa?

Ursa Major: Tonight? We’ve got Swerve vs. Murtak the Merciless and Astarte vs. Mayham for our first round matches.

Star Warrior: Some top matches for sure. And I want to also mention that the finals for this tournament will be fought at the GWF’s first PPV of the year. That’s right, FTR’s finest will get a chance to show their talents off to an intergalactic crowd at New Beginnings!

Swerve vs. Murtak the Merciless

Swerve defeated Murtak with a Titan Drop

Following the loss, Murtak snaps and attacks a celebrating Swerve from behind. He proceeds to hit a downed Swerve with the Conqueror’s Flag three times in a row. He then grabs a microphone and tells the crowd that this transgression against the mighty Dreeze Empire will not stand!


The Natives of Castilex (Krud and Ygorr) vs. Galactic Submission Crew (Tyne and Tanis Moldavo)

Tyne Moldavo defeated Krud with the Mata Leao

Star Warrior puts over how the Galactic Submission Crew, as members of the Legacy group, are the grandsons of Toro Moldavo, a famed practitioner of Moldavo Jiu Jitsu who had a run in the GWF during its early years. The pair square off with the brutish Castilexians, using their skills to neutralize them. The crowd pops during a segment when Ygorr is beating Tanis with some vicious shots and the Moldavo brother springs their feared Shadow Triangle on him out of nowhere. Eventually, the martial artists score a definitive win.


The Real Deal w/ Phil McNeal
Special Guest: Blue Chip

Phil McNeal, the charismatic host of the FTR’s exclusive interview segment, welcomes fans to the inaugural edition of The Real Deal. He talks about how it gives him great honor to bring out one of FTR’s youngest talents, Cetus’ own -- Blue Chip!

Blue Chip: You have no idea how honored I am to be standing here today, getting the opportunity to follow the stars that I idolized like Star Warrior, Alpha Force and Bloodline. I intend to prove to Cetus, and the world of wrestling, that I’m their next great warrior!

As the crowd cheers, Disciple of Terror storms down to ringside. The Cygnus warrior snarls at Blue Chip before snatching a microphone from Phil.

Disciple of Terror: Pathetic, vile worm! You stand out here claiming to follow the path of so-called great heroes like Star Warrior and Bloodline? Hah! I follow the path set forth by a true legend of the GWF -- Dreadnaught! And next week, when we face off in the FTR title tournament, I will show the FTR the might of the Cygnus forces!

Following this, Disciple throws the microphone and makes a move for Phil, but Blue Chip cuts him with a solid right hook. The crowd cheers as Blue Chip stands over his fallen rival.

Astarte vs. Mayham

Astarte defeated Mayham with Left for Dead on Bemis

The rowdy, yet diminutive, Aethran sympathizer came into the match claiming he was going to win the FTR belt for the glory of the Gladiators! Unfortunately, he fell victim to the brutal offense of Astarte.

Mad Maxus (The Electric Axe & Totally Awesome) vs. Captain Crossbones and Moonlight

Captain Crossbones defeated The Electric Axe by DQ

The pirate lord and the great granddaughter of a Mongolian warlord seemed like a great team on paper -- and they worked good for most of the match. Totally Awesome tries to carry the match, not letting his more rowdy partner get in. But a nasty blow caused Awesome needing to get his breath and Electric Axe came and proceeded to choke out Crossbones with his guitar string. This resulted in Crossbones and Moonlight getting the win. Following that, Axe refused to release the chokehold until Moonlight came and saved her partner.
