The Wrestling War Returns!
With the expansion of the WWE Network, World Wrestling Entertainment has decided to bring back both World Championship Wrestling and Extreme Championship Wrestling. Each federation will have one televised show that will be exclusively on the highest tier on the WWE Network. Each promotion will have one pay per view, or as they are called in the recent press release, special events to have blow off matches. The weekly ECW show will be called ECW Hardcore TV and the WCW show will be called WCW Nitro.
Vince McMahon has given the keys to Extreme Championship Wrestling to former owner, Paul Heyman. He will be head booker of the promotion. World Championship Wrestling will be run by Eric Bischoff, who was recently rehired.
Vince McMahon has announced that he has given Triple H full control as Vince McMahon is looking to retire. I never thought I’d see the day that Vince McMahon would retire but with low ratings and how well Triple H has done with NXT, he’s decided to hang it up.
Vince McMahon has allowed both promoters to choose their starting roster. Each promotion is given thirty wrestlers each. The press release said that World Wrestling Entertainment will also have a whole new roster.
On WWE.com, the rosters for each promotion have been announced. The rosters look like this.
