THE FIRST TRIAL OF BRUNO SAMMARTINO
Bruno Sammartino vs. Andre the Giant What an incredible confrontation between these two. It is the first of 20 trials that Bruno Sammartino will undertake. The Giant controlled this match from start to finish. After early back and forth both men went down in the corner. Andre was up first. Andre dropped down on a prone Bruno and then crushed him in the corner. Bruno held on against the bear hugh and kicked out after another corner squash. Bruno blocked a piledriver but couldn't generate any offense. Later the Italian Strongman got the full nelson applied but it did little to the Giant. Andre took over again with a splash and head butt for a two-count. Bruno caught Andre off the ropes for an amazing piledriver. It got him a one count. Bruno went to the bear hug and a massive knee to the head knocked Andre to the floor. Bruno hoisted Andre up for the Italian Backbreaker and scored an unbelievable come back victory! Bruno had four tokens and Andre had two.

THE SECOND TRIAL OF BRUNO SAMMARTINO
Bruno Sammartino vs. Kurt Angle This match did not last long but it showed just how powerful Bruno Sammartino is. After a brief exchange on the mat Angle planted Bruno with a German suplex. The Italian Strongman went to the outside where he sent Angle into the guard rail. Back inside he easily put Angle in the Italian Backbreaker and that was it! Bruno Sammartino def. Kurt Angle
Bruno is 2-0 in the trials. His next opponent is Giant Baba. After this short match I rolled another one. This one was a little bit longer. Again Angle seemed to be doing more offensively as his Add 1 move piled up the fatigue and led to him beating Bruno. |

THE THIRD TRIAL OF BRUNO SAMMARTINO
Bruno Sammartino vs. Giant Baba Match #3 for Bruno pitted him against a man one foot taller than he is! The Giant Baba never got into his game as Sammartino came out on fire. Bruno hit Baba hard and fast, scoring two near falls quickly. Baba got to the floor but back inside the Bear Hug by Sammartino put Baba away. Bruno Sammartino def. Giant Baba
Bruno is now 3-0 in the Trials. The next opponent is Bob Backlund. |

THE FOURTH TRIAL OF BRUNO SAMMARTINO
Bruno Sammartino vs. Bob Backlund The Living Legend kept his winning streak going against a contemporary of his. Bob Backlund gave him a good match. Neither could hold the momentum for very long. Bruno was slowly wearing Backlund down. Backlund did some damage with the Boston Crab, but then Bruno put the same move on him. A pair of suplexes did a number on Bruno, but he put the Bear Hug on Backlund. After a lot of back and forth a big jumping kick by Bruno garnered him the three cound. Bruno Sammartino def. Bob Backlund

THE FIFTH TRIAL OF BRUNO SAMMARTINO
Bruno Sammartino vs. Fred Blassie Bruno came out fast with some power offense but Blassie turned it around. The stomach claw was used as Blassie poured it on. Bruno tried to get away for a breather but Blassie nailed him with the Southern Neckbreaker and took the three-count on the Living Legend! Fred Blassie def. Bruno Sammartino

THE SIXTH TRIAL OF BRUNO SAMMARTINO
Bruno Sammartino vs. Nick Bockwinkel Tricky Nick gave the Living Legend all he could handle. Bruno started out on top but missed a move on the ropes. A trip outside the ring had Bruno back in charge. Bockwinkel went flying out of the ring thru the turnbuckle but did not get counted out. Later it was Bockwinkel with all the offense, including the Figure Four and Sleeper but Bruno stayed alive. After a fight on the floor Bruno took over with the Bear Hug. He kept the offense going but Bockwinkel would not go down. Finally after a long time in the Bear Hug Bruno had his hand raised! Bruno is now 5-1 in the Trials. Bockwinkel's pin was 8. Bruno's was 6. The next opponent is Jack Brisco. |

THE SEVENTH TRIAL OF BRUNO SAMMARTINO
Bruno Sammartino vs. Jack Brisco Jack Brisco never got things going his way. After an airplane spin, Bruno came back and locked on the Bear Hug. After softening Brisco up the Italian Backbreaker finished him off. Bruno Sammartino def. Jack Brisco
Bruno is now 6-1 in the Trials. The next opponent is Frank Gotch. |

THE EIGHTH TRIAL OF BRUNO SAMMARTINO
Bruno Sammartino vs. Frank Gotch This was another short match and it showed the power of Bruno. Gotch went down in the corner and the Italian Backbreaker ended the bout. Bruno Sammartino def. Frank Gotch

THE NINTH TRIAL OF BRUNO SAMMARTINO
Bruno Sammartino vs. George Hackenschmidt George Hackenschmidt was able to hang in there power-wise against Bruno. That power came into play with a half-nelson release suplex that sent Bruno to the floor. After Hackenschmidt avoided a count out loss he came back with a trifecta of waistlock suplexes. Bruno turned it around and after the Bear Hug came the Italian Backbreaker to win the match. Bruno Sammartino def. George Hackenschmidt

THE 10TH TRIAL OF BRUNO SAMMARTINO
Bruno Sammartino vs. Stan Hansen This one was personal as Bruno face the man that broke his neck! This was a tough man's match as they went toe to toe, back and forth, in and out of the ring. Neither man had made a cover before Hansen leveled Bruno with the Lariat and scored the three-count! Stan Hansen def. Bruno Sammartino
